Sun Sea Salt & Genista

I picked up a bottle on impulse today as it was only €19 and I have zero regrets! This is gorgeous! The opening reminds me of Olympea, although it’s quite different. It’s the vanillic salt that resembles Olympéa, but the airy mimosa and light hint of citrus makes it stand on its own. It could’ve been a lighter summer flanker for Olympea though, which makes me happy. It is a very light and delicate scent, with a creamy vanillic saltiness, that -like Olympea- smells like salty vanillic skin, rather than sun screen. The salt and vanilla notes in this are much lighter than in Olympea though, and the mimosa really takes centre stage. It also reminds me of 5th Avenue as it has a similar light sophisticated summer sea shore vibe. It had that dewy aspect to it that 5th Avenue has as well. It’s like 5th Avenue and Olympea merged into one, and I’m here for it! I only bought it today, so I can’t really speak to longevity yet, but as it’s quite subtle and light, I’ve noticed it’s easy to go nose blind to at times. I do think you do get a few hours out of it, as I notice it still kind of dances around me. To prolong longevity I might layer it over a mimosa and jasmine dry body oil that I like to use as they have the exact same mimosa note. EDIT: When applied liberally over the mimosa dry body oil, the mimosa comes forward a lot stronger and overpowers the resemblance to Olympea (which was subtle to start with), it’s still there, but not easy to pick up on.

UPDATE: Having worn this for over a month now, it has quickly become one of my favourite summer scents. The mimosa is so bright and happy! Longevity is fine, it lasts all day on me, and the mimosa note stays bright and clear all day long (longevity gets much better where the bottle has been open for a few weeks). This is very easy to wear, smells very elegant and bright and smells waaaaay more expensive than it is. It smells like something you might smell in a lady on a yacht imo. Big love!

This is a unique scent in my (admittedly) limited experience. It's rather simple and linear, but, at the same time, so amazingly easy to wear. There are no discordant notes, the flowers-and-salt blend is flawless, and the only regret I have is that when I go outside, it can't come with me. Oh no, this is, I feel, a strictly stay-at-home fragrance. But, if there ever was a perfume that was invented to portray the word 'relaxation', this must be the one.

I completely agree with the review below me Its such a light skin scent. Linear and bright powdery happy fluffy slightly sweet mimosa it lasts around 3 hours on me but i’m still so happy with it 😍 i remember when i first smelled it it smelled really weird and unusual to me it might be that broom note. oh i also don’t find it overly salty at least to my nose the salt in here does some magic without making it obviously salty

I just tried sun eau de parfum and loved it. But this? HOLY SACRED COW, this rocks. Salty sweet air ,mixed with a playful honeyed pollen note. It also smells a tiny bit like melon. This scent reminds me of Olympea, but stripped back to put salt at the focal point. This scent knows what its all about and I'm all here for it. Potential for a back-up is super real.

Fluffy pale yellow down. Relaxing, soothing and happy, too.

Sun Sea Salt & Genista is not a three note fragrance. There is a lot going on in this fragrance but the impact is linear and also the visualization is the opposite of clutter. I see a pier of cool white marble extending into the North Sea on a warm, sunny summer day. This smells extremely high concept, and the concept is "simple and natural". Neat trick. Do you like that sort of gesture? Someone builds a multi million dollar beach house in a posh area but it is a polished homage to a spartan and rustic old dune shack? So many Jil Sander fragrances have a Northern German/Hanseatic luxury vibe, many people associate this with "spa", and it includes minimalism and precise cleanliness. Hamburger Jil Sander created the style, the iconography, and though she long since left the company, the style continues. There is a strong fil conducteur through all the clothes, all the fragrances. I will say this is quite close to Gorse by Laboratory, but sweetened, with the vibrations amped higher, and a 75% price cut. I smell the honey and I also smell melon. So it's fruity, unlike Gorse.

This is a rather difficult one to explain for me - I don't think I have ever before wore perfumes containing broom. It smells of citrusy, lightly salted flowers. Uplifting, but not packing a punch of lemon, as it isn't lemon what I perceive. It has a light green note in the background, quite interestingly. I have to try it more, to decide if I just like it (would work nicely for layering) or not - it doesn't displease me, but neither enthuses me as of now. Perhaps I should have waited a few days after delivery to try, so I'll keep testing in the next few days. Overall, good price for a good product, not great sillage or longevity - seems to wear more alike a cologne (but it may be that needs to settle... who knows yet), but hey, it's not breaking the bank. Update 12 June 2022 - I am now pretty sure that the scent of broom belongs best with bathrooms than on people. This was dispatched there to be used as freshener.

Clean and soapy with a faint touch of dusty herbal florals. Nice for the price.

Hm, this really smells like the breeze when you are at the seaside under sun. But I find this too salty and not fresh. I cannot imagine to wear this as a perfume.

This is what I call easy to wear, it’s Uplifting, light and delicate scent, very elegant and bright ,perfect blend of flowers and salt, giving this coastal breeze kinda scent, to me that smells expensive. This one is a well thought masterpiece of simplicity, not like any ordinary perfumes, it packs a smooth wave in its power, like an elegant ninja, not to be seen but felt.

Anyone know of a place to buy in the USA?
