Jimmy Choo Man Blue

Jimmy Choo Man Blue is surprisingly already on the shelves at brick and mortar discounters. I found it for $31.99USD for 30ml so I picked it up. I loved Jimmy Choo Man Intense so I figured this should be good and if not I could trade it. Man, do I love it and will not trade this. Jimmy Choo Man Blue when you look at the bottle you can tell what this will be. It looks like Sauvage but in a Jimmy Choo Man bottle. It does smell like Sauvage but I find it isn't as headachy as Sauavge can be and more like Sauvage's dry-down. In a side story, the same day I made this pickup, I got my nose on Sauavge EDP and it was too strong, the Macy's sales person at the Dior counter sprayed Sauvage further away from the skin after the harsh open faded away, I found that I loved the dry-down of Sauvage (as did my mother whom I saw later that day.) Jimmy Choo Man Blue smells just like the Dior Sauvage dry-down. It gets there a little differently. It has some pineapple/apple like Antonio Banderas King of Seduction in the open and it is a flanker of Jimmy Choo Man line but it is mostly the Sauvage dry-down. The strongest notes I notice are inline with Sauvage, bergamot, pepper, lavender and ambergris though I'm pretty sure is just ambroxan. Added in is some leather and vanilla with traces of apple pineapple, sage and cypress added in. Performance is pretty nice. Now realize with this you will NOT be getting Sauvage. If you love how Sauvage can damn near full up a room especially when first applied, you will want to pass on this and instead stay with Sauavge, Sauavage EDP or go to one of the several Armaf offerings. That said, it is a nice moderate sillage though it is a weaker moderate and quickly become a skin scent (since it is largely the Sauvage dry-down I wouldn't worry.) That said, the scent lasts. It lasts about 8 to 10 hours in total. Use is a bit limited. I can see Jimmy Choo Man Blue used in spring, fall, and maybe summer nights. If you want a Sauavage for summer days, Very Cool Spray should work out for you since the grapefruit brightens it. Jimmy Choo Man Blue is a typical dark blue and shouldn't really be used in very hot weather. Hot weather is possible and warmer weather is very good for it. I find it will work well in work settings, maybe dates unless you live in an area where Sauvage is super popular and dressed up. It is a crowd pleaser, so expect compliments if you do get compliments. I won't say you will get compliments every time you wear it, but, you should get a few here and there from wearing this if your social group gives you compliments. OK, if you have Sauvage, Pineapple Vintage X-batch, Armaf Ventura, Spirit of Armaf or any other Sauvage clone, you can pass on this. That said, if you are looking for something like Sauvage and thought that you wanted something lighter and less headachy, do this. It is a cheaper alternative and gets 8.0 from me. I just wish it was a little stronger projection wise for myself, though not the total projection bomb Sauvage is.

by far one of the best perfumes I've owned but will only buy it again as a collector, here's why: pros: 1.ive gotten tons of compliments from both males and females and a female once told me that it smelled so good she wanted to buy a bottle for her to spray in her room 2.for me personally, slightly dark and less citrusy fresh(even though its a citrusy smell, it doesn't have that spicy fresh kick that citrus fruits have) perfumes are a cup of tee, so this being a summer fragrance, with that dark and cloudy(in a good way) yet summer-y feeling is definitely what attracted me to it. 3.the notes are mixed in a really good way that it was hard for me to realise what those slightly unnoticed notes were until I came on here. cons however: 1.projection, I only ever had compliments from different people, but they all were 3 feet or less away from me, and mostly right after I sprayed the perfume. 2.sillage, i tested this with a couple of friends, if you walk past them, the scent can be noticed for only 1-2 seconds and then it completely is not noticed in the path you took. 3.longevity, on clothes it sticks for a while, but on body it takes about 1.5-2.5 hours until it becomes a skin scent, not to be fooled though, those 2.5 opening hours will sure as heck compensate for the missing hours all in all, I personally really really REALLY like the smell itself, but the performance is just more than very disappointing. which is almost regular for jimmy Choo fragrances. will only buy it again as an addition to my collection to get a whiff of it every few months. love it, but doesn't deserve more than a 6/10.

SUMMARY: 8/10 Fizzy sweet and fresh fragrance with a wonderful woody/vetiver base. Questionable performance. RAMBLING THOUGHTS: Jimmy Choo’s Man Blue smells delightful, and living in a warm climate, it would probably be my most used fragrance if its performance were just a little better. The performance is OK. The fragrance sticks around on skin and clothes for a long time... but its projection fades fast to the point where in cooler weather someone giving you a hug might still miss it. In warmer weather the projection is better, but quite inconsistent. But the fragrance it self is truly delightful, particularly if you are a fan of woods and vetiver as it has that addictive woody base, but mixed with this clean and sweet smell that I can only describe as “fizzy” (particularly in the open). I am not the biggest fan of sweet fragrances, because I find most to be too much (e.g. syrupy or sickly sweet), but the sweetness of Man Blue is light and just serves to amplify the addictiveness of the woody base.

After sampling the whole JC man line my order goes as follows from least to best. Parfum, Ice, intense, original, extreme, aqua, blue. This one just had the best "clean" masculine vibe to my nose. Parfum smelled too feminine and is very gourmand compared to the others. Ice smelled like dove soap to me. Intense smells good but has a very synthetic opening I just don't like. Original is just basic and doesn't last. Extreme was pretty good. Aqua I found to be more of a pleasant smell than extreme. Blue smelled the best of them all which surprised me that the rating is so low compared to the others. Just goes to show you that you can't base everything you see off reviewers. I see this cologne pairing well with Vibrato or Sauvage for those hot summer days to give it that extra kick it needs. I like that it is not expensive and sprays nicely. This is perfect for a gym scent or all-around summer heat cologne that doesn't break the bank.

I didn't have very high hopes for this one but it genuinely surprised me a lot. You get a nice even balance of aromatics, freshness, little bit of spice and some wood. It's done in a way where any man would easily pull this off so it's a great everyday scent. To top it off, it's really not that pricey at all. Only downside is that you will need to put a fair bit on you as it's not the best performer but this is honestly really great!

I wore this again today and in an update not just to my own review and another review, isn't as summery as I thought, maybe a summer night. I do still think it has some Sauvage to it (namely the drydown) a similar to Jimmy Choo Man/Man Intense but I found that it is a Code like, especially today. It is unique and I still love it, just I can entirely see the Code comparisons but it still has the Sauvage kinda sweet ambroxan drydown.

I can feel the leather, sandalwood, bergamot, vanilla, black pepper and a bit of lavender. It has a rich leather base note, which makes sense because Jimmy Choo is a brand of leather bags and shoes. I find this fragrance very special for the price. It can remind you to a shower gel, but better. A few hours after applied, the leather note turns into a kind of dark chocolate note.

I have Man Blue and the original Jimmy Choo Man and I can say Man Blue is waaaayy better. Sweet but not too sweet. Not beastly but not weak either. Good summer frag. Best of the entire Jimmy Choo Man line. My fiance bought it for me for my birthday, definitely worth a blind buy if you like sweet yet fresh frags.

Been testing jimmy choo man blue now a couple times, and although i do get a lot of similarities with other new releases, this one just leaves a very nice sweet woodsy scent trail that i just cant stop sniffing, it's a must buy for me, try it out and don't judge it before you have tried it a couple times.

One of my first colognes I love it. Very good everyday cologne. I think anytime of the year also. Doesn’t last long but it’s only 30-40$ based on where you are. I’d give this a try if you want a nice blue fragrance.

Amazing fragrance! Love the opening. This would have a one up on Dylan blue if the performance was better. But even still, this might be my new signature fragrance soon. It's so fresh, clean and super versatile.

Great Cologne, many folks ask me what Cologne is this. I honestly don't like to share much what I wear but this one is a great one. Polite and smells fresh. It Has a unique drydown to it. 9.5/10

Jimmy Choo Man Blue was launched in August 2018, giving continuity to the brand's line of men's fragrances after the launch of the traditional version in 2014, followed by the Intense (2016) and Ice (2017) versions. The creative concept of the fragrance is related to the more youthful man who has lived abroad (or, at least, knows other cultures), who works in a startup and moves in big cities by bicycle, rollerblading or even skateboard. He is that newly graduated man, relaxed in style and full of self-confidence. I was pleased to meet, with exclusivity, the launch (in São Paulo) and at the time I spoke of this relationship with the image worked on the campaign, of the "new executive" who is able to wear a tailored suit and put on a pair of white sneakers, creating a look that is not classic. And the fragrance of Jimmy Choo Man Blue combines a lot with this concept, which is already a positive point because it delivers what it promises in advertising! Regarding technical matters, the fragrance was created by Nathalie Lorson, a professional who has worked with brands such as Dior, Armani, Lalique, Lancôme, YSL, among others. To build Jimmy Choo Man Blue, she mixed notes of clary sage, bergamot, and black pepper, in the head, with gray amber, leather accord and cypress, in the body of the fragrance, on a base of sandalwood, vetiver and vanilla. Normally, the masculine fragrances of the brand are not considered innovative, nor, powerful. And this time, it was no different. However, I like to have my expectations met in relation to what I expect and what I feel as a result. And Jimmy Choo Man Blue has an easy to please style, uniting two olfactory families that men love: aromatic and woody. This type of fragrance can make the transition between moments and approaches: it starts lighter and ends denser; at first, shows a stripped side and, over time, a serious facet of its wearer. It's all about the intended audience. On the skin, the fragrance starts with greener and citrus tones. The bergamot is really present, but it lasts a short time. In a matter of minutes, a more elegant side begins to appear, as if a piece of suede had been thrown over what was there, muffling the aromatic content and making room for what is to come. You can notice some nuances of the cypress (between citrus and camphoraceous), but the sweet and soft side of the amber wins the battle. Then, a sweeter base appears, able to make you remind of tonka beans. It's the sandalwood, creamy, flirting with the vanilla. In my opinion, Jimmy Choo Man Blue offers no competition for Sauvage or Bleu. But resembles, after a while, to the good and old Armani Code, only lighter. It does not have good projection but lasts more than six hours on my skin. It would be a very wise choice early in my professional career, about 20 years ago, and I think it's a great choice for anyone who is going through that moment now. To finish, the bottle kept the same visual pattern, but the blue finishing gave a touch of sophistication and beauty that draw attention from any angle.

First off - there is nothing perceptably "blue" about this fragrance, other than the bottle and the name. Amber maybe, but blue? No. Think Armani Code with some sweet amber added in. Second - No, it doesn't smell like Sauvage. Not at all. There are some top notes in common that might lead one to that conclusion, but actually trying it will immediately disabuse you of that assumption. I would say at the opening, there is some slight resemblance to the Jimmy Choo Man Intense DNA, which is more in league with that oversweet Fierce/Invictus crowd. But as I say, only slightly and not for long. Blue may starts out with a bright and sweet pop, but that totally belies what lurks beneath and emerges within minutes. As the top notes blow off, more woody elements come forward, making Blue smell a bit more serious. I pick up vetiver and sandalwood, and a touch of patchouli, dirtied up just a bit with leather and herbal elements. About 20-30 minutes in, a sweet vanilla amber accord steps up and blends gracefully with the woody elements and that clingy tinge of dirtiness, evoking a slightly creamier version of Armani Code. Projection is moderate. Longevity is surprisingly long (8+ hours but close up) - easily exceeding that of Armani Code, and completely blows Jimmy Choo Man out of the water. This stuff is polite, smooth and impossible to hate. Office safe all the way. Jimmy Choo Man Blue strikes me as walking that line between youthful and mature, guaranteeing universal appeal. Instant like, borderline signature scent material. Layers very nicely, too.

At first you do get the lavender note with the bergamot and that sage that sets the tone with the lavender . I really didn't get any pepper. The rest of the notes are pretty accurate but I will say in the mid it's not as fruity as it sounds. It does take on that "blue" freshness a little . Once it settles down you mainly get the vanilla, vetiver, sandalwood and lavender. If you're expecting a traditional "blue" scent you're not going to get it . It's not a bad fragrance at all but it's not what I expected. I do like that it's a nice day time fragrance that can be used on a casual evening. It's not a unique scent . There's is nothing special about it . But it can definitely have a place in a lot of people's collection. The huge issue with this is longevity and sillage. It's almost none existent. I did 1 and a half sprays on each forearm and one on my chest , skin. I. About an hour and a half it was almost gone . I then applied 2 sprays on my shirt . About 45 minutes later I asked a friend that just sat in my car if they could smell any cologne and they said no. I was on the verge of purchasing a full bottle because I do like the smell but that was the deal breaker . You need to bathe in this and reapply every 2 hours . I'm not going to do that . Usually these colognes stay in my car glove box. Maybe one day this will get that privilege lol Scent- 8.0 Complexity - 8.0 Quality - 8.0 Performance - 4.0 Bottle -7.5

It supposedly draws inspirations from the likes of Coach for Men and some other major blue scents of its era like Dior Sauvage, though I think Intense is more like Coach for Men than Blue is by a large margin. I get the sense it wants to go in a La Nuit de l'Homme direction early on, but never manages to pull it off. Similarly I'll get a hint BDC or even Ferragamo Acqua Essenziale Blu later on, but it keeps falling short of either nailing the profile or offering the big twist. Ultimately I get bits and pieces of various blues to where it becomes a non-unique amalgamation offering but also not really a clone either. It opens with an aromatic clary sage, some soft lavender, and a prominent black pepper. From there it goes in a blue/green direction in the heart with cypress, pineapple, and a smooth suede. The base is sweet, creamy vanillic sandalwood and ambroxan. I rate it a like because there's nothing wrong with it; it's pleasant, it smells good, and as a blue fragrance it basically can be used whenever; it also isn't anything I'd consider special. Not bottle worthy, but not something I feel the need to get rid of. I'll use it up over a long period of time, taking the travel spray on business trips for times when I want to be clean and presentable, but don't want to stand out. It is the grey man's fragrance.

I have over 200 fragrances in my collection. Out of all of those, this has to be the most average of all. Its not bad, but it lacks identity. It's sweet, fresh, woody, synthetic, fresh, a bit spicy. It's hard to pick out individual notes at times. It's pleasant smelling and can cover a wide range of situations and occasions, but it really lacks defining character. This fragrance reminds me of an endless line of somewhat simple designer fragrances from the early 2000's that I would smell in stores during my childhood: linear, pleasant, average performance. Many of these types have come and gone, long discontinued. I have a great deal of respect for Nathalie Lorsen, I'd be extremely curious to hear the conversations that were centered around the conceptualization of this fragrance. I can't help but feel like this is what Jimmy Choo asked her to make. Longevity is average 5 hours on skin, projection is average, can be worn day or night, most of the year outside of maybe the summer and more intensely warm Spring days. I could see this being unisex, but I doubt most women would want to wear it. The best thing about this fragrance, besides the price being so low on the second hand market, is that it's good for layering. I have successfully layered freshies over it in the winter to give a little more oomph.

Really like this and so do others who are near you the first 2-4 hours. It actually lasts fairly good for a Jimmy Choo frag, I put it on before work at 7:30AM and I can still get whiffs of it till mid afternoon. It is sweet and projects strong the first 30 minutes than settles down into a "Unique" blue frag to me cause it is different than the shower gel frags which I also like. I rarely like sweet frags but this one is great, easy to wear, work, date, casual, just works. I am grabbing this more and more these days, works great in heat but go easy on trigger. I also like Varvatos Blue but do not get any similarity at all, maybe I can see the similarity to aqua Essenzielle but this is not nearly as strong. good stuff. Nothing like Dylan Blue or Chanel imo, or coach etc. I do not get any citrus from this at all, it's a steal for $40. Great bottle, atomizer, performance is pretty good, I would say it lasts longer than the average blue frag for me....... I would think if you like Coach Platinum you would like this as well. Or code Colonia.

If there's a fragrance that truly captures all the different scents being sprayed at the Macy's fragrance counter at any given moment, it’s this one right here. Smells like nothing specific but at the same time it smells like everything all at once. That's not to say it's bad, it's actually rather nice and a good grab-n-go dumb reach, but I actually do smell bits of all the popular releases in Jimmy Choo Man Blue. From elements of Sauvage, BDC, and YSL, to Invictus, JPG, and Coach, all blended into one "frankenfragrance" right here. The quality and blending is decent and it's a nice pick up at a discounter. There's some freshness, warmth and sweetness going on at the same time and it has that blue shower gel type of versatility as well. Performance is moderate and the scent definitely feels on the lighter side. Overall this one is best suited for the office and casual encounters on a mild day.

First Pass - Citrus. Powder. Leather. A little floral 2 Hours Later - Strong powder. Citrus is gone. A little sweeter, still a little floral 4 Hours Later - Powder is gone, strong leather accord. Less sweet (still slightly) and faint wafts of florals. Perhaps a thin trace of wood Overall - The only thing “blue” about this fragrance is the name. The citrus notes at the top quickly burn off, taking with them the only reminiscence to the blue/fresh family. That gives way to a robust, full leather character. I like Jimmy Choo Man (which I have reviewed separately). Jimmy Choo Man Blue is even more man than the original. Less sweet than its forebearer, and the leather is stronger, firmer, & longer ***Scents, like tastes, are subjective. Wear what you like***

You already know what it's going to be before the first spray, but they do a nice iteration of it. In terms of scent it's everything we've smelled before but it's really well done. It's arguably even more accessible and crowd-pleasing than the big dogs of the genre such as Sauvage and Dylan Blue. Not to say that it's necessarily a superior fragrance, but it is a very versatile fragrance. Arguably it leans a tad younger than those aforementioned blue kings, but mass appealing fragrances are mass appealing for a reason after all. Though it's existence is technically redundant, if you're looking for a new bluey to mess about with this is a good little bargain buy off your friendly neighborhood discounter sites.

Smells quite good, my favorite of all the designer Blue fragrances. I love the added vanilla in this one, and the Lavender adds some maturity. Sadly it just doesn't last long on my skin. I used 3 sprays from my sample vial, and on 3 different days I only got an hour of projection before it turned into a skin scent. Another 2 hours and it was long gone. I think the smell alone is better than the majority of leading blue fragrances on the market today, but the performance is severely lacking. Would not buy because of that unless the price was right.

Designer Freshie for someone who doesn't want to offend anyone. You can wear it in the office or casually, but I expect it fits someone younger than 30. The ambergris doesn't come off as animalic, which I appreciate. The leather note is subtle and does make it different than other blue fragrances out there. The initial spray is invigorating and fairly strong, but it quickly goes down to arm's length projection. I do however feel that it is a bit synthetic. If you like the Jimmy Choo line, then you will like this.

I love blue fragrances, so I was hoping this one would be good. I love Jimmy Choo Man Ice, so I thought this could really end up being a good one. Unfortunately, it’s a pretty meh scent. I can’t exactly describe what it is that makes it that way, other than it just isn’t very exciting. I think the vanilla they use in this is just too prominent maybe? Very good versatile allround fragrance but nothing to boast about. Dries down into a strong vanilla mid and base scent and has decent longevity. The problem is that even though this fragrance lasts about 5-6 hours, its sillage is dead after about 2, so the only way you can smell the fragrance is by putting nose to skin and breathing in hard enough to make a smell. Can be used anywhere but carry it with you to help last the full day. Overall 7.5/10

I picked up a bottle of this for a song recently, and I've noticed it gets a lot of compliments. For my demanding taste, I'd say performance is lacking, I found it a little light after the initial burst, but four hours on, I was still getting compliments. Great for work and sport, it's not going to offend anyone, it just smells fresh and clean. Great bottle, great atomiser, it's very nearly a great fragrance, if only it performed better.

Searched up the word “generic” in the dictionary and this popped up. Peppery fresh opening and dries down warmly with a bit of vanilla. Bland but totally inoffensive. You could wear this anytime, anywhere. If you want something light for the office, this is perfect. Smells almost exactly like Coach Black, just replace the pear with vanilla. Please, find a discounter for this. Spend no more than $35. Or just get the Ice version :)

Great smelling fragrance that is not offensive. Anyone could wear this and love the scent. It has a very professional clean smell. Great for the office, or anywhere you want to smell like you're wearing something. The problem is that it is very weak, this is not something to wear if you're fishing for compliments, no one will know. Overall this is a safe blind buy, and even a safe gift for someone who is new to frangrances.

Very pleasant, but unremarkable. Fresh notes and aromatics over synthetic wood and sweetness. It feels like it is only a portion of several fragrances that I'm familiar with, but is lacking in identity and almost smells unfinished. I could see these being used as a great layering agent. It is so simplistic in it's approach that it reminds me of a middle of the road safe designer release from the mid 2000's.

This is good but it reminds me of fragrances I already own such as Coach for Men, Blue Jeans by Versace and Guess Seductive Blue. It's a good clean, sweet with a slightly crisp scent. I enjoy it but it feels like it doesn't last long since it sits so close to the skin. I however did get a compliment yesterday (first day I bought it and wore it yesterday) after wearing it for about 30-45 minutes.

Jimmy Choo Man Blue is a nice pick if you want a masculine, dumb reach fragrance. I got mine for a little over $40, and I think it is worth the price. The notes are hard to pick out for me, but the lavender is pretty apparent. I get 5 to 6 hours on skin, and its just strong enough to be commanding without giving me a headache. Smell - 7/10 Performance - 6/10 Price - 6/10 Overall - 6.3/10

Well, it is playing it safe, and the performance is meh. However, I do think it is actually quite unique. It's a crowd-pleaser blue frag but with an added romantic, inviting vanilla note. As the "similar perfumes" section shows, there's really nothing else currently out there that smells quite like this - this is a new combination. I'm tempted to buy a full bottle honestly.

Bought the perfume a few years ago at the airport. At the time, I didn't even fancy woody notes. Yet, when I got it out just now, I kind of like it surprisingly. It wasn't that commercial but almost a bit niche. Woody, ambery, powery, and had dried down to classic ambergris. Black pepper, clary sage, sandalwood, what's not to like? Definitely unisex.

The beauty of this scent is as long as you don't buy it on amazon it's very fairly priced, and simple. This is VERY INOFFENSIVE! This one doesn't draw many compliments, but it also doesn't draw negativity. Its clean, masculine and simple. Dumb reach for the fall into early winter. Definite must have in my collection

Solid fragrance thats smells good in most situations. I love the slight powdery vanilla note in the dry down. The only thing holding this fragrance back is the longevity but being that you can find this at any tj maxx or marshalls for cheap its really not hard to re-apply it every 4-5 hours.

This a very nice and basic fragrance, but for a blue fragrance I think the vanilla adds a cozy, beautiful new take on blue fragrances. I love this one for the price point on ebay, but would never pay full retail. Very mass appealing and not like many other blue fragrances on the market!

This is surprisingly very nice, I’ve had quite a few compliments wearing it. It’s nothing spectacular, almost like Versace Dylan Blue but with a bit more sweetness/vanilla. Considering how cheap it is I’d blind buy it. It’s a bit boring but it is nice. 7/10.

This fragrance isn't going to be anything special but it does smell more expensive than it is. I don't usually wear this out but I do wear it while I study. The incense is calming which helps with the headache I get from trying to pay attention.

Just another humble blue for the person who just wants to smell good. 4-5 spray max or you will stain someone’s nose blue any weather rocker I wouldn’t buy but if you see it on your little cousin shelf give him 20 bucks and snag it

I found this for $30 and it's most definitely a highly blind buy safe fragrance. Reminds me of most men's blue and fresh cologne with a bit of vanilla to make it more interesting. Overall, I would buy again. Good Christmas gift.

Based on a carded sample. This is decent enough, there are way worse frags than this with higher ratings on fragrantica. The drydown is pleasant, sort of woody and blue dusted with icing sugar. Its a like from me. 3.5/5

Nothing like Versace Dylan blue, the Vanilla makes this scent so versatile to wear either night or day in warm weather! Definitely a fragrance worth to buy but do buy a small bottle for re applying after 4-5 hours
