Rose Noir

"Sweet amber rose" is my own category for rose scent, which dominated by three main elements: rose, vanilla, and resin. Sweet amber rose are rich, jammy rose fragrance with a warm, deep, sweet resin base. The most typical example is Fort & Manle’s Harem Rose—a warm, solid, and sweet resinous rose. However, the challenge with sweet amber rose is that the vanilla, rose, and resin often blend into a messy, indistinguishable mix over time. Jinkoh Store’s Rose Noir stands out from other Sweet amber rose with its transparent feel. Taking a deep breath, you’ll notice three layers: bright pink rose at the top, a rich, jammy middle with a hint of tobacco, and a surprising tart, strawberry-like rose at the base. The bright rose and tangy fruit mix with the creamy, resinous vanilla, making it sweet and dreamy—like strawberry cream! The tobacco is there but subtle, with the main focus on the fresh, tart floral, fruity notes. The projection is impressive, yet the scent remains light and pleasant, with a slight gourmand twist. It lasts for at least 12 hours, leaving a sweet vanilla resin and musk on my skin afterward. (One friend even said it smells like pickled plums—basically, a sweet and tangy scent with depth!) 2025/1/15 updates: Huh, this fragrance just lingers on clothes forever. It’s still all over my jacket two days later. It’s a beast-mode sweet amber rose that would be absolutely captivating in cold weather.

NOT a review - I’d like to explore Jinkoh Store’s fragrances, but I have heard samples can be difficult to come by, so I’d likely have to blind buy. Rose Noir seems like it could be a good place to start, but I’d like to hear more about it first as this would be a fairly expensive blind buy. Obviously, I have not tried this, but the note breakdown looks reminiscent of Tabac Rose from BDK. The pyramids are not identical, but they do share several key components. That could be a good thing, as I really enjoyed Tabac Rose when I sampled it. Has anyone tried both? If so, are they at all similar? I would not expect Rose Noir to be any sort of dupe, I’m just trying to gauge whether or not this fragrance would be something I’d enjoy. I do love rose when done well — some of my favorites that I’ve tried include BDK Tabac Rose, Matiere Premier Radical Rose, FM Promise, Boadicea Nemer, Nishane Nefs, Zaharoff Signature Rosè and D’Orsay Rose Blaze.
