Amber Labdanum Cologne Intense

This scent really grew on me over the last few times I had tried it in store. I finally took home a decant from a Jo Malone store, fell in love, and bought the full sized bottle. I have always stayed away from this scent profile in general since majority of my fragrances have to be office appropriate/meeting appropriate, and this scent profile tends to be overpowering in a professional setting (in my opinion, anyway). However, this fragrance is not overpowering at all, with just a moderate sillage and great longevity. I can still smell it on me by the end of the workday. It’s not quite as long-lasting/powerful as Myrrh and Tonka, but it’s pretty decent. It is beautiful on its own, but it is also an excellent layering fragrance. I love layering this with Cypress and Grapevine to really bring out the amber base of the Cypress and Grapevine cologne and get a fresher/longer lasting scent. Layering with Myrrh and Tonka is also a beautiful, compliment-getting combination.

Baring in mind this is actually yet to be released fully, I struggle to understand how there can be votes for 'hate' on this scent but there we are... Actual review : this to me is once again another astonishing release from Jo Malone in their cologne intense line. The perfect transition from those warm summer evening sunsets into the cosy 'by the fire with a glass of red wine (or chai tea or whatever your evening drink is). It's glowing, warm, golden and with a smoky seduction to it that is both captivating yet cocooning and caressing too. I will definitely be getting a lot of wear out of this this autumn.

The opening in this smells fantastic. I can't stop sniffing my wrist from the sample I got. This is VERY incensey. The bitter orange and labdanum as a top note makes this stand out. It dries down to a vanilla incense on skin. Definitely a cool/ cold weather scent. It is slightly masculine, but as it dries down, the vanilla incense takes over( a bit cloying) and has it leaning ever so slightly in feminine territory IMO. I personally would love to smell this on a woman.

This is the best fragrances they put out. And strong with good longevity. Nishe dark, spices, sweet. Man its good. And to the people saying this smells like babycat, what are you smoking😂 I love babycat but no, not even in the same family.. That this is not pushed buy the brand is crazy. Its soo good. I can't belive jo malone released this😅

I love amber scents so I'm biased here. That said, this stuff is just delicious. Warm fragrances don't get much better than this. I layered it with Tom Ford Ombre Leather and got EVEN BETTER. That combo is actually the cozy season scent I've ever tried. Sadly, neither of these will probably never make it into my closet due to their prices.

Full Incense was my love at the first sniff, full, rich, uplifting, loud. This one is its shady twin with a fox smile, sweeter and smokier. I'd say it's too cloying for hot weather though, and not too masculine for a woman to enjoy.

I like this more than I thought I would. I get all notes tho I get more tonka than vanilla. Nevertheless it perfect! I get the strongest synesthesia while smelling this. -M206

What a beautiful amber scent, reminds me of Oud al Qasr Roberto Cavalli like 65%.

Opens up far more cheerfully than other scents of similar profile, and it is probably solely due to the brilliant use of the bitter orange here. Unfortunately, it disappears quickly, or blends with the coniferous note. The heart of the perfume is undoubtedly labdanum with a good dose of vanilla. Lovers of churchy, incense-heavy scents may find it disappointing, as it lacks depth and mystery, but it could be a good option for those looking for something more wearable. On the other hand, this could be a great opportunity for vanilla lovers to test their boundaries and go for something more edgy and grown-up. It has that light, Sancti-like approach to incense. I’d say Sancti is definitely more suited for spring, while its warmer, richer counterpart, Amber Labdanum, works equally well in both spring and autumn. The quality is there, longevity is very good, but I'm afraid that projection isn't great. I will have to ask others if they can detect it in the air.

A good amber scent. As far as designer amber scents go, I feel as if most lean very sweet, syrupy and cloying. This one is feels a little deeper, richer and grown up. Smokier, warmer and ever so slightly resinous despite non being listed. It behaves on skin the way I'd expect, in the sense that it doesn't smell that great up close, but in the air, is really nice.

It's resinous scent. I'm not even sure if you can call it an "amber" as I'm not getting the typical sweet, powdery, gourmand-adjacent type of a scent. It's rather mildly sweet, very resinous, and actually smokey. I think there's some frankincense/myrrh here. It lasts fine on skin; much better on clothes, but the projection is very low.

AL by Jo Malone is a realistic version of incense. That being said, at least on me, it leans too masculine so I layered it with the super sweet scent Mochi Milk (that’s supposed to smell like Fruit Loops or peach rings) and it created a more feminine combo. I think JM AL is a great scent for layering if you’re into that.

I thought it would have a slightly smokier, darker scent, but it wasn’t quite that dark; it’s sweet, but not the sort of sweetness I particularly like. Still, I do think it’s a lovely scent. 8/10

More resinous than vanillic. From afar, it had a pleasant sweetness, but damn up close this is horror for my nose. It has a medicinal smell up close that I have not yet seen others talk about. It’s reminding me of pine or eucalyptus, so in that regard it reminds me of Christmas. I don’t fancy smelling like vapour rub! I don’t exactly know what is creating that effect for me with the noted I’ve pulled from the Jo Malone website, Fragrantica, and Parfumo. Don’t think I’ll be keeping this one. Not what I expected. Tickles my nose and I don’t particularly think it smells nice (to me). Longevity is good so far.

I bought it yesterday, fell in love with it instantly and took it home. Today I put it on and after half an hour all I can smell is church incense. I want to return it.

A superb creation by the talented perfumer Yann Vansnier! We are dealing with an atypical and not at all clichéd amber! I dare to offer you, exclusively, part of the recipe used by Yann in creating this superb perfume, since I discussed it with him privately, therefore, in addition to the declared notes we have: olibanum oil and olibanol, ciste absolute, dynamone and fir balsam resin. A composition that is definitely resinous, rich, warm. The evervescent, coniferous and balsamic frankincense as we already know it feels excellent, but there is also a fantastic support from the cistus, which in addition to the balsamic/resinous and leathery facets, also comes with a fruity facet, which remains throughout the evolution of the perfume! It is not a linear perfume and will certainly surprise you, especially amber lovers. Slight similarities to Ford's Amber Absolute, but not as harsh and much more layered, slight reminiscences of Grand Soir but without the dissonant roar of Amberwoods. I give it a score of 9.5 out of 10! excellent

This is a lovely fragrance. I tried it without much intention, and I was blown away by the dark, smoky, sweet aura it gives off. It’s not a beast of a fragrance, yet you will garner attention. Also, it does have great longevity, a solid performance, and an impressive projection when applied. I pick up some dark, amber sweetness, along with the labdanum and vanilla in the background giving it this smoky-sweet character. Overall, a sweet, smoky, even somewhat spicy fragrance with decent longevity, performance and projection. A great fragrance to have in the collection [Still debating on whether I should add it. In theory I would like this fragrance, but on the skin, on my skin,, it performs poorly. The opening is great: starts as mysterious and smoky by giving orthodox cathedral vibes of incense. Unfortunately after 30 minutes all of that is gone and I’m stuck with a cypress fragrance. Plain flat cypress note, pretty close to the skin. Even if it doesn’t last much, all would have been forgiven just to have that burnt incense note in the composition. All in all, it’s an experiment that could have produced an amazing perfume, yet it turned out to be a generic cypress fragrance - kind of disappointing and not sure if it’s worth a release.

At first sniff, I thought I had found the fragrance of my dreams: warm, ambery, with a hint of vanilla sweetness. It smelled amazing on the bottle, on the testing paper, so I put it on my arm thinking "I'm definitely taking this home". Not even five minutes later, the scent had totally transformed on my skin. It became a smokey (not incensy) mess that smelled like farmland burning down, all the amber and vanilla COMPLETELY gone. The jacket I was wearing smelled like that for days, but the testing paper still smells amazing a couple weeks later. Please try before buying! if it works on your skin I'm so incredibly jealous of you.

This is gooooddd! Oh yeah. It's a bit sweeter than mkf grand soir but along a similar vibe, this scent also reminds me of armani prive ambre eccentrico. It's not as good as those, but very well made, well blended....in that JM fashion it doesn't last long. You might get about 3-4 hrs on skin if you spray heavy. The final drydown is powdery and woody/smokey almost gourmandish, whoever compared it to Materie Premier Enscens Suave was 100% accurate! They're close, the MPES has beastly performance tho. Overall the scent is beautiful! It's just not unique.

I was expecting more from this. I mostly get a dulled tonka and benzoin accord with a pinch of sour amber/incense. The sourness kind of reminds me of Tom Ford Fougere Platine. I don’t sense any synthetics here, but the naturals are blended to such an extent that they become diluted and muted and adding synthetics to this would actually spice things up in a positive way. It lasts long but has zero projection on me. It’s the boring, safe spot between designer and niche. It’s a pass, no question.

To me this has a lot of incense. It isn’t anything like Grand Soir - not even close. I think this is very like the original Black Cashmere by DK so if you miss that, this is a reasonable replacement. I have both Grand Soir and Black Cashmere and so I can do direct comparisons. I am not a fan of churchy perfumes, but if you are- then I highly recommend this.

Amber Labdanum come off as a simple, but pleasant, two-note pairing of amber (listed) and sandalwood (unlisted). Of course the amber accord by definition is labdanum + vanilla, so I don't know what Jo Malone London is trying to accomplish with their naming and notes.

Very mature smoky sweet in sense smell. Doesn't last long but is beautifully blended. I would wear this if I was a 60 year old millionaire living in a mansion in london. Just too mature for me to wear right now but mazing fragrence

I genuinely transported back to high school. This smells EXACTLY like juul pods from my high school bathrooms.
