Assam & Grapefruit

Fell in love when this was sprayed onto a testing strip: subtle sweetness mixed with the more bitter tea. The tea is intoxicating to me. As it dries down, the sweetness disappears into a very nice, savory tea. However, if you rinse whatever part you sprayed with water, the sweetness manages to return and it's incredible. I had to have it, but I wish it wasn't 200 bucks. I personally justified the price because of how convincing the tea is, since it is not overtly sweet but not super bitter or ozonic. However, I cannot justify the price because the longevity is ehhh (as are most Jo Malone fragrances). I don't mind the skin-hugging sillage because I love being subtle, and I love Jo Malone because it is linear, simple, and accurate. However, the price... try to find a deal / decant. Found a used bottle with ~70% left for less than half the $200 price tag-- incredibly worth it.

The first minute on paper or clothing can sometimes be a little bitter to my nose, but after that point (or when testing on skin), it is just divine. Both notes in the name come through clearly. The mate is quietly blended in the background and doesn't spoil the scene. The grapefruit is more of a white grapefruit and not the ruby red sweeter type that I eat where I live, so it makes it more aromatic/herbal feeling than fruity in any way, especially with the well blended more herbal patchouli. It is not particularly strong, but that is typical of JM. Definitely on my full bottle list. Refreshing, high quality, kind of meditative, for in between seasons. It stands alone among my many tea scents.

Jo Malone's Assam & Grapefruit is a rather transparent fragrance. With its short list of notes, it's quite faint, lacking in presence and doesn't stray too far from the skin. None of this, however, stops it from being a wonderful fragrance. It is sweet, elegant and masculine and an absolute joy to wear. It's not intoxicating or offensive by any means and is perfect for the office or everyday wear.

A beautiful, smooth combination of tea and grapefruit. Sillage is moderate to weak, but it does last on my skin for about 6 hours. Absolutely unisex, so I’m not sure why JM is marketing this to men. Did not buy this because I already own JM Grapefruit, which I can layer with a tea scent to achieve a similar result to this (even if it’s not quite as nice as this...but I’m saving $200!).

The smell is gone in a flash! Literally does not last more than 30 minutes on my skin. It's a shame because I absolutely love the scent, it's perfect for spring/summer. There is absolutely no way I would ever recommend anyone to purchase this due to the high price and terrible performance. Save your money folks!

I LOVE this scent, but the longevity is shockingly bad. I just can't justify paying full price for a bottle when I know it won't last :(

I really like this scent, but when it's layered with orange blossom, it brings it to a whole new level. One of the best layering combos I've discovered with Jo Malone.
