Cypress & Grapevine Cologne Intense

I have no idea how anyone could describe this as generic or basic. I don’t know who y’all go to for a barber, but this smells literally nothing like a barber shop. Also for all the people that are describing it as a clean/body wash scent, let me know what body wash you’re using because I need to get some. This smells nothing like a soapy scent, as there are no florals or citrus. The notes from the manufacturer are EXACTLY what this fragrance smells like - cypress, grapevine, and amber - and it’s blended to perfection. That’s the good thing about Jo Malone - they literally name the cologne what it smells like, for those who struggle reading the back of the packaging. There should be no surprises in what the scent is, so if you don’t want to smell like cypress, grapevine, and amber, don’t buy this. Also, don’t blind buy any fragrance. Go to your local Sephora, spray it on, and see if you like it. The amber dry-down sits as a skin scent for several hours after application. It’s a cologne, so expect it to last like a cologne. I’m personally tired of all the generic bergamot/citrus/spice man scents (I.e Sauvage, Bleu de Chanel, YSL Myself, etc.) This is refreshingly unique, especially with that very distinct amber note that no one is mentioning but is clearly labeled from Jo Malone in the base... This is the best masculine leaning fragrance Jo Malone makes, and it’s one of my top 5 fragrances. Jo Malone’s Myrrh and Tonka is also fantastic (spoiler alert... it smells like myrrh and tonka.) For anyone saying it’s not worth the price tag... fragrances from niche or luxury fragrance houses are generally expensive, so not sure where those expectations are coming from? You can buy it from Fragrancenet and save like $60. Or don’t buy it at all and save yourself and anyone reading these reviews from your complaints. If this is out of your price range, try another brand? $220 for a fairly low concentration cologne-level fragrance is expensive, but it’s also a luxury, niche brand. Try Target if you want something cheap. Regarding projection, as stated above, this is a cologne, meaning lower perfume oil concentration. Believe it or not, there are many people who don’t want to be the center of attention in a crowded room and just want to smell nice, without announcing it to the entire crowd. Smelling loud isn’t always a good thing.

This is a fantastic scent. I stumbled across it by accident. I enjoyed this scent right off the bottle and took home a test strip to give it some thought. Later on I noticed the scent transformed into something so fresh, warm, and masculine. I went back the next day and got a deal on a Cypress and Grapevine gift set that came with two travel size sprays that included Cypress and Grapevine, and Hinoki and Cedarwood. Initially I hated Hinoki and Cedarwood. It smelled horrible straight from the bottle and I couldn't imagine anyone liking it. I was so wrong. Not only does Cypress and Grapevine transform into an amazing scent but Hinoki and Cedarwood does as well. How they start has very little to do with how they turn out. Hinoki and Cedarwood transforms into a warm, masculine, super pleasent, frankensen/myrrh vibe. I'm about to go buy a 1.7oz bottle. Projection. I'm of the opinion that these two scents are not going to get you noticed when you walk into a room. They perform similarly, perhapse a little better, to how you would notice if someone just washed their hair as they pass by or infront of you. You'll take breif notice but it won't ever be a lingering distraction. It isn't that the scent is weak and evaporates quickly. It just behaves differently. I'm saying it lasts a solid 5 hours before tapering off. Just know it's not going to get you noticed by walking into a room. The scents are incredibly good. No lie.

Best seasons: Spring, summer evenings, early fall Occasions: Daily wear, office, smart casual, daytime events, effortless elegance And let’s be honest—this is essentially Dior Sauvage for classier men. Same versatility, none of the noise. If Sauvage kicks the door open, Cypress & Grapevine calmly walks in and owns the room without raising its voice. Another understated, beautifully executed offering from Jo Malone London. 9/10

Love this juice. Personal bubble projection in my opinion, but that’s how I like it. The name describes it pretty well. I see a lot of Sauvage comparisons. This definitely does its own thing but I can sort of see it. They are same vein I guess. However, this is WAY less screechy and a more natural smelling scent. Less loud. Sauvage is way more metallic and peppery, which creates a “bitterness” this does not have. I love the Sauvage DNA. At one point I had every one of em except eau forte. But I prefer this. You could even wear this in an office environment with no issues. Edit: my fiancee loves it, at first she said it smells a little older, but she digs it a lot. I think it might be her favorite lol. Also the more time I spend with it the more it isn’t like sauvage to me. It’s much greener and different in the ways mentioned above. Still would say they are similar in style, but definitely many things different about the two. I would say if you like Sauvage I believe you would like this style of scent, but not because they are the same thing.

Yes, it's a classic DNA, very reminiscent of fragrances from the 80s-00s. However I've yet to come across a fragrance that smells exactly like this (and I've smelled a lot). Despite the similarities to certain "mall fragrances," to my nose Cypress & Grapevine smells of higher quality ingredients than thin, screechy scents like Fierce do. It comes across more grown up compared to those scents as well. I think a man in is 30s and 40s could easily wear this out and about or in the office without giving off a juvenile vibe. It is Jo Malone after all - not for the teeny boppers. Regarding similarities to Sauvage, I actually find this has more in common with the Elixir than the EDT - but more more toned down and less beast mode (in a good way). Speaking of which, I get more than enough longevity from this. Don't let the naysayers lead you astray. This is a great, very wearable mature-leaning fragrance.

To start this review off I want to say this fragrance smells nothing like Prada carbon and maybe sauvage on the dry down. Now the review, I will admit that for the price it is a basic scent but it is blended very well and great quality. There definitely better fragrances from this line like hinoki & cedarwood, vetiver & golden vanilla. But this a great starter and blind buy safe from this line. It smells like a fresh & earthy body wash. Great for all year round and office space friendly. I know a a lot of people like there fragrances that project a lot, this isn’t one of those but in a good way. If you have tons fragrances that’s always project and need something to keep a low profile while smelling good (like imagination) mild projection and average longevity this is a great option those situations. I got this fragrance in a trade but it up to you to decide if it’s worth the money or not.

I fall rarely for dominantly woody fragrances, but Jo Malone’s Cypress & Grapevine... wow. Transports me to a peaceful spa set in a quiet grove where the air is thick with the calming scent of evergreen and the crisp, dewy freshness of vines. The cypress, tall and steadfast, wraps you in this grounded, woody embrace, its scent like a cool breath of forest air—sharp yet soothing, deep yet clear. The grapevine, though less center, is green indeed, mingling in with a quiet verdant quality, a breath of something refreshing. This is literally the feeling of spa therapy beneath towering trees, their branches swaying gently in the breeze, natural earthy products cool and soothing on your skin, bottled up all neat and refined. A truly meditative scent, inviting you to pause, relax, and be completely present—calm, still, and timeless.

This smells, point blank, like running through thick, snowy woods at night. Why are you running? Who are you? Where are you? Questions as fickle as the clawing wind. Needless to say, I can't recommend this enough, and always wear it when I want to impress my outdoorsy best friend. This is a wild, enlightened perfume for the sensitive nose, a tell-tale sign of someone who spent far too long on the Roblox Wolves' Life role-play games growing up, and a testament to the spirit of running through the woods at night that lives in the veins of us all. Of course, I recommend it for that one friend who doesn't quite feel like they fit in with humans.

Although Jo Malone fragrances are famously overpriced for their performance, this is an absolutely magnificent scent. I pulled my boyfriend into the world of perfumery, and this is 1 of only 3 colognes we both enjoy. It smells natural, masculine, and non-offensive while still being a nice departure from some of the more popular aquatic and spicy men's scent profiles. I think this is an easy grab for any season, time of day, or occasion (casual, formal, date, etc), and I love burying my face in his chest when he wears it! I'm sure it makes for some killer layering options as well, but I'm pleased with it enough as a standalone scent.

Don't believe what you've heard about Jo Malone performance. 3 sprays of this lasts all day and is almost too much. This is a massively underrated. It's a super natural version of a mass appealing traditional mens fragrance. Very masculine and mysterious. The ad with Tom Hardy walking through London on a wet rainy night suits it perfect. It smells like a damp/humid botanical garden. Highly recommend trying this one out if you like to be taken seriously. Not getting much Sauvage at all, this has no overpowering aromachemicals, its not harsh. It's smooth, natural and green. Wearing it makes me feel relaxed and clean.

Dior Sauvage for the grown man” If you love Dior Sauvage, this will feel instantly familiar — same versatile, crowd-pleasing DNA, but more refined and understated. It’s clean, woody, and aromatic without being aggressive — the kind of scent that works every season and every occasion without overthinking it. Performance is the weak point: moderate sillage, stays close to the skin, and longevity is hit or miss. Not a powerhouse, but what’s there smells genuinely quality. A safe, polished choice if you want Sauvage energy with a quieter confidence.

Love this stuff. I do think it has a barber shop vibe, but with a modern take. It's slightly similar to Egoiste or Sauvage, but it's smoother than either of them. I also love that Jo Malone sells the nice little 9mm bottles so you can get a reasonably priced, nice atomizer to give it a test drive. I think it's extremely pleasant, can't really see anyone hating it. A great all season, wonderful smelling, masculine fragrance (I don't really consider it unisex, but to each their own).

This is definitely for me. Green, sharp, bright, direct. It's way more unisex than people are giving it credit for. Spring garden before the flowers have bloomed, a small whiff of bug spray but not in a bad way. Clean. Breaking off a leaf from a succulent plant. I've tried a lot of 'men's' colognes and they sit too heavy at the bottom of your nose. This one is just right, so leaf-y!

Masculine, modern, and classy. The opening 15-30 minutes are divine they it fades fast. Sillage is very poor but projection is moderate. I wore this on a hike and people around me said they could smell it. This one is so good that I would still buy it even with shit performance but because of it it repeatedly falls on the list. Think of a scent like PDM Sedley.

This is one of those scent profiles that fit the “men’s cologne” description perfectly. It’s modern, minimalistic- yet mass appealing, and lasts 6hrs on my skin. I enjoy the herbal freshness backed up by the cypress woods. The scent trail it leaves is amazing. It does remind me of Chanel Platinum but I find worth in having both of them, if that helps. This is actually very good. I didn't expect it to be this good. Very nice mass appealing unisex fragrance with very good longevity and beautiful sillage, perfect for anytime. Not generic scent by any means, and a signature worthy in my collection. Edit: Spray on your clothes will make it lasts all day. 6 sprays do me very good. It smells really pleasant.

I really like this, like really really like this. I am finding myself drawn to safer fragrances these days. Things I wear at work and don't offend people or create a scent cloud around me. Cypress and Grapevine fits the bill. Perfect male scent for the office as it stays close, but people get whiffs of it. Garners compliments too. 9.3/10

Stunning release which strongly reminds me of the fragrances made in the late 80`s & 90`s like Lagerfeld Photo, Chanel Egoiste Platinum or Salvador Dali Salvador. Aromatic, green, woody, fresh and signature worthy. Natural and unapologetically masculine! Yet another great member of their Cologne Intense line up. Bravo1

I was leaving Dillards and a fragrance salesman sprayed this on a strip and on my arm. I made it about 10 steps before I immediately turned around to ask the gentleman what he just sprayed. This stiff is a classy and classic smelling fougere with spice. Smells along the lines of the new Brunello Cuccinelli Pour Homme

This stuff is amazing. Im lucky enough to say that it lasts a lifetime on me. In my opinion ignore all the “this perfume reminds me of” because this smells nothing similar to any of those. It does has a tiny barbershop smell but you really have to think about it. Overall for me a 10/10 and suitable all year round

If I were a man I would definitely wear this one. This is like a man who is sure of himself and speaks with a soft velvety voice. I might be stretching it too far but I think it smells like something from the 80s or 90s that my father used to wear? I'm not sure, but it smells so comforting and classy.

Barbershop Sauvage with slightly better quality. Basically the lovechild of Platinum Egoiste and Sauvage. The use of more natural oils does have an effect on the longevity. I get about 5-6 hours on skin, slightly more on clothing. Projection is best in the first hour. I dig it.

I get that barbershop-y, shower gel thing that everyone has mentioned, and yet, to me there's a little spicy something else in here that elevates it above generic man-smell. Can't speak to the longevity, but bought some for my son for Christmas, and we'll see how he wears it.

Its the first fragrance in a while to impress me, unlike ysl myself and most other recent releases it’s actually unique and dose not feel like a copy and paste design fragrance. For the people saying its basic or bad it just shows your in highchool or are clone theory people.

This is my first Jo Malone fragrance. I was super impressed when I smelled it at the store, and now weaing it so far for a few yours today I have to see its pretty amazing. A real throw back manly smell and already have had two compliments in the first few hours.

Amazing scent but lasts as long as a Marshalls designer fragrance. Upsetting because it smells so damn good. This would be a gem in another 5 years when it sells for $100. For $170 at discounted price I can get a niche scent profile with extrait performance

This is one of my office scents along with Tumi 19 degrees and Prada Amber. It definitely reminds me of Sauvage but it’s not a 1:1 clone and has its own identity. Worth $200? No way. I saw Jayden Daniels in an ad so I guess they are paying him.

not for me bc it’s too masculine but objectively this is so so nice!! i get lots of alpha lavender with mini tiny whiff of pinecone. pretty green in the beginning but lavender comes out in max 10 min and then it gets woodier too. lurv it

My daily office fragrance. People always compliment on how clean it smell. Not sure why it only getting 4 on here, it last 12 hours on me easy. Projection is not like any elixir or absolu..... but it is a cologne so makes sense.

Tried this one at a Sephora a couple of weeks ago and was blown away by the scent and longevity on my skin. Came back for a retry in the following week. Two weeks after the first try, I received my bottle in the mail.

Amazing classic masculine scent that is unique. Sillage lasts 15-20 minutes. It projects for a couple of hours. Wore this on a hike and my daughter commented on how nice it smelled although I couldn’t smell it.

this is my dad's but i love it so much! the scent itself is masculine and VERY long lasting, i would still smell it on my jacket the next day. i probably use this more than my dad bc of how much i love this😂

It’s a pleasant smelling scent that sits very close to the skin. I don’t get much cypress, I guess I’m getting the grapevine, a pleasant unobtrusive sweet but masculine scent. A good office choice.

This is totally the Dior Sauvage vibe without this obnoxious super strong pepper and ambroxan smell in it. It's a nice, non-douchey version of Dior Sauvage that implements the idea better

1. This smells nothing like Sauvage. 2. This lasts for at least 5-6 hours. 3. This is gorgeous juice. 4. It is well worth the price given the smoothness, and the amount of naturals.

This one is awesome. The longevity is decent along with projection. You'll smell like a man that has his shit together. Women will want to be close to you when wearing this.

Sophisticated. Unique. Modern. Its green and leafy but really balanced by the mossy sharpness of the cypress I love this fragrance so much! It is pricey but worth it. 9.5/10

Reminds me of Eternity for some reason without that pungent smell that Eternity has. If I didn't have Eternity, I'd buy a bottle of this... it's really good imho.

Egoist platinum Chanel + Montblanc Legend = Cypress & Grapevine JM. Office safe and fresh.6-8 hours on my skin. Not worth the price.

I love this fragrance. Its something I'd wear as a pilot because its just a natural scent and welcoming. Almost $400 unfortunately.
