Earl Grey & Cucumber

stunningly photorealistic, perfectly catching the moment of opening a fresh tin of loose earl grey tea. it's strong and punchy at first, almost suffocating, but within 5 seconds it settles into the most soothing, realistic experience of getting yourself a strong cup of the tea. i can't imagine not having this in my collection - as a tea lover, i use it as my layering multitool. really, the amount of combinations it fits into is just unreal. whether it is to bring in more tea asset into other tea scents that just don't have enough of power in that note (russian tea and o, unknown, i'm looking at you two specifically...), or just creating different scent profiles such as fruity tea, milky tea, floral tea - it's just a magic item. i could go on for days, listing all of my favourite combinations, so i encourage y'all to just try it out and experiment. one thing that i feel like i need to mention is the longevity. i really don't get the hate that jo malone gets for having no staying power. all the ones i tried give me at least solid 6 hours (12h with the cologne intense) of pleasant, linear wafts whenever i move.

Listen, I don’t know what the commenter below me is smelling... but this is not a fake review. If anyone here is from New England—this smells a LOT like Mohegan Sun. I don’t know how to explain it. If you’re looking for a cheap alternative, I recommend Bath and Body Works White Tea & Sage. It’s like 85% the same. I’m not sure if there’s a fragrance they have for it but I have the hand sanitizer and the smell stays on my hands for a few hours. I will say—this scent, as the commenter two below me says, is so comforting. When I wear it, it almost invokes an image of like... a warm fuzzy sweater? It’s a “soft” smell; not soft like gentle or subtle (although it is a gentle smell) but soft in the sense of the texture that comes to mind.

sprayed on my wrist and just could not get over this scent. First spray is FRESH cucumber then it quickly dissipates into the earl grey. like being at the spa with cucumber slices on your eyes but the spa is the inside of a teapot and you’re brewing along with the earl grey tea packet. Then it fades into such a sweet, honey vanilla bean scent that i literally could not stop smelling my wrist like a crazy person. OBSESSED is an understatement this is probably my favorite jo malone scent of all time

This perfume is so comforting and calming. I'm sure this is what Mother Goose smells like. I find myself loving this more and more as time goes on. It's so soft, gentle, sweet and plush. This is "that" girl. The natural beauty who doesn't have to try hard to get noticed. She's effortless yet people are drawn to her for her carefree, cool girl vibe. Something I'll probably always have in my collection! Smells like a london fog in the very best way possible. So, so cozy!

This scent is so confusing to me, because I’m obsessed with it and I’m not sure why. Genuinely I could sit and smell it all day and when I first got it, I felt like I was giving myself headaches with how much I sprayed. I always spray it on my skin and it’s suuuch a nice scent to smell throughout the day, and the earl grey really gives it a bite. Very intriguing green fragrance. Definitely one I have to be in the mood to wear but it’s addictive and so fresh. Love

This is my favorite Jo Malone colonge hands down. The tea notes are lovely and once it dies down, the cucumber and musk really shine through. This colonge smells like a spa day. I imagine face masks, pilates, spring mornings, and androgyny. This is such a nice versatile unisex scent. Its not overpowering, but it is strong and lasts almost all day. I would definitely repurchase this colonge. Perfect for the spring or summer!

One of the best citrus/tea scents I have ever owned or tried. So fresh, clean, and high-end smelling - a classy spa scent. It doesn’t last longer than 3 hours max after application, but I also don’t mind re-applying during the day. Not a beast-mode fragrance and it doesn’t need to be. This is for someone who just wants to smell good, clean, and a little luxurious without announcing it to the world.

For those who don't like citrus heavy fresh scents but still want a light summer scent, this one is great. The notes combine to produce a light refreshing scent that most will enjoy. It has bergamot obviously for the Earl Grey profile, but it combines with the tea so that it is perceived, at least to my nose, as a unified tea note. A favorite.

This smells so good but I just wish it lasted longer. This is like a grown up version of green tea by Elizabeth Arden, and is so fresh and green while still having that earthy tea vibe. Really really like the sample I got and will probably get the full bottle, but it definitely will need to be reapplied through the day

It’s spicy in a really refreshing way? I kinda love it. Makes me think of earl grey with no cream, much more bergamot and black tea focused. My mom said it gave her a sorta pickle feeling, so if you’re pickle scent sensitive try this one out in store.

smells like taking a bath in a pot of honey-steeped earl grey tea. warm and cozy. wish it had the sillage to drown out every other scent within a 30km radius

Beautiful clean fresh light classy fragrance. I really don't get tea or cucumber from it though.

The 100ml and the 30ml have different ingredients.

Earl Grey and Cucumber sounded lovely. And I am sure it is, but on me it goes straight to beeswax and stays there. Even putting it on clothing rather than skin doesn't make much difference. Must be something in the way I perceive the notes in this fragrance. Luckily I like beeswax - always handy for adding depth to honeyed florals like linden blossom, or layering with frankincense and myrrh if you want to smell like church, highlighting the scent of candles and polished pews.

One of the few scents that actually smells like Earl Grey tea and not just bergamot. The cucumber is subtle but adds a freshness without being overpowering or too green. The vanilla, musk and beeswax add a sweet and slightly earthy quality during the dry down and don't really show up in the opening notes. My only gripe with this perfume is that it doesn't last at all, which is deeply unfortunate as it smells amazing for the 30 minutes that it does stay on my skin.

it’s a very light and fresh scent, but unfortunately it has no lasting power at all. i tried a sample, and after 10 minutes there was no smell left on the paper. at first, i even thought i had accidentally picked up a paper i hadn’t sprayed any perfume on. i can’t really detect the cucumber note clearly. if i were to choose this kind of scent profile, i would definitely prefer wood sage & sea salt.

As someone who's had a cup of earl grey tea every morning for over 10 years, I can guarantee that this smells EXACTLY like earl grey. It's astonishing how photorealistic this is. While this isn't the type of scent I'd normally gravitate to (I only really tried it in-store out of curiosity), I had to share.

I like this very much--it smells pretty much exactly like its name announces, with tea notes dominant, and cucumber behind it, along with some beeswax. Very calm and relaxing, this would work well on its own or paired with other fragrances as a quiet base.

Fabulous It's hit or miss with Jo Malone for me, but this is great. Earl grey tea with a splash of fresh cream. Straight forward, simple, easy wear for any age. Fresh and a bit sweet. Wears light, you won't offend anyone.

Very pretty and smells like a cup of earl grey tea! The dry down has a hint of that tea scent and a beeswax vanilla. It is nice but very expensive and only comes in the large bottles currently.

Very refreshing and unique....i wish there was less cucumber but that's me! Earl Grey is a top fave note for me. Lovely dry down into airy aquatic-ness....

This was the only scent that my non-fragrance friend with an especially sensitive nose actually liked.

earl grey steeped a little too long

I just wished it had staying power. On paper and my skin it's 15-30 mins max, and sadly lacking dry down on my skin. However, the opening is gorgeous, sharp, tea, cucumber-y rain that makes you feel fresh and simultaneously cozy...like the air after a thunderstorm and a light spring mist while you sit next to the window with your tea and a good book and cozy socks. Test it to make sure you're happy with the performance before purchasing.

really loved this for the first couple hours, smelt just like earl grey teabags, fresh and a little bit sweet. despite the vanilla it isn't a warm, milky sort of scent, its much greener. however it is NOT blind buy safe.. about 3 hours in it started to smell overpoweringly like that perfume they add to sanitary products lol. gorgeous scent but did not work well with my skin chemistry

If it was reformulated, I haven't smelled it, this is a review for the new batch. Very sharp zesty, quite refreshing, but also that sharp freshness is so strong, too strong, maybe. Needs to be tested on a hot day, but even then, I think, it would not work. There seem to be some fixatives that make my head uneasy.

I really hated it. I didn't like the top note & the heart note.. The top note: earl grey tea and heart note cucumber were too overpowering it gives me the headache. Definitely not something I would like.. but when it mellowed down I can smell the vanilla was subtle...

First when I sprayed it give a sour bergamot scent but when it come to the base notes it something dizzy and disgusting so I need to vomited, even Earl Grey is my most favorite tea but this is bullsh*t

No idea what the original was like but it definitely has been reformulated which is pretty apparent from the notes and description. Its a decent bergamot beeswax scent. I can see jasmine, apple, cedarwood and angelica have been replaced by earl grey. Like all jml fragrances which are linear and that doesn't necessarily mean its bad but in a way its smells much like a deo ; like the one from dove. Its fresh but its no more Christine Nagel's original creation. Too bad considering the price they demand for a bottle of cologne i do not know why replace the original ingredients. Sep 2024 This edit is for the original formulation credited to Christine Nagel. Was fortunate enough to grab a last bottle from one boutique last year. There's definitely a good amount of difference in both the formulations. Right of the Bat you can tell the current reforulation lacks the acidic sharp opening of the apple fizzy note which really accentuated the tea accord and the mix of both was quite appealing. The addition of Jasmine and Angelica was to I think balance that sharpness of apple and make it more refreshing with floral sweetness beside the cucumber. I imagine the whole idea was to be sipping earl grey in a typical English garden in an English weather with the customary cucumber sandwich. The perfumer replicated the tea accord by her clever mixture of the now replaced notes with the existing ones. The present formulation doesn't hold out that feeling but it is nice. Not that long before prices of these colognes felt very steep but now it's becoming more and more ridiculous so unless you have disposable income its not that unique to be worth the price

Smells so good!! I'm not sure that I smell any cucumber which is a good thing because I don't like a specific scent from the cucumber skin - maybe they used just the flesh? It's so refreshing and great for summer. Very very fresh and more tolerable than other citrus scents. I'm considering a purchase, but I have to figure out what's going on with the ingredient differences? The perfume I smelled from was the big bottle. The dry down is so delicately sweet, slightly ambery? I wonder if that's the beeswax

It's sweeter than the notes indicate. I usually don't go for green or fresh perfumes but to me, this is not that! It smells more like a candy version of earl grey tea. Like some sort of earl grey milk tea hard candy that you could get from an Asian supermarket. My family also didn't think it smelled anything like the name would suggest. First 100ml bottle I got through, works nicely in the Florida heat and humidity. It has boba milk tea vibes to me.

I adore this perfume. The opening is a very green tea note. It smells like you’re sniffing an earl grey tea bag close up. In a very nice way but it can be a little sharp at first. Then it becomes such a nice spa-like scent that’s so calming. After an hour or two it is the most ADDICTING waxy vanilla scent oh my goodness. Can’t get enough. I do wish the dry down was a bit stronger as I could sniff that all day if I could.

This is a very lovely JML scent. It's even more fleeting - if that's even possible - than Wood Sage and Sea Salt. But, what makes this scent so lovely for me is that, once the cucumber and bergamot and tea are gone, it settles into the nicest, creamiest vanilla. The vanilla is unexpected but adds such a comforting dimension to what would otherwise be a very lightweight scent. It is surprisingly likeable.

do NOT buy this fragrance, do NOT listen to all these fake reviews. this fragrance smells as if u are eating a salty cucumber while drinking earl grey. The longevity is poor, so is the sillage and projection, which is common for JoMalone fragrances. blended poorly aswell. if u want to smell like Elegant and fresh, do not buy this.

As much as I love this scent, the longevity is very poor. The bergamot and cucumber compliment each other well, and the drydown remains more warm with the beeswax. I love earl grey anything, but the drydown is not reflected in the price point, but that is a lot of Jo Malone fragrances unfortunately.

Simple fresh and clean scent, it’s not a milky earl grey but a more green, fresh and herbal one. It’s good but not my type of scent.

Hmmm, can somebody tell me if the scent is still the same as the previous formulation (assuming it has indeed been reformulated)?
