Earl Grey & Cucumber

This is one of the best citruses I have smelled. And I have smelled a lot. I usually don't like the perfumes where the citrus is the main character. For example, I sold my Le Labo Limette (San Fran exclusive) because it was too zesty, I sold my FM Bigarade Concentree because the bitter oranges were too overpowering and made it hard to distinguish other notes. I got rid of my Eau de Sisley 2, House of Oud Live in Colors, because again - the bergamot and grapefruits were too strong to my liking. I could not like even Zoologist Macaque Yuzu. At the end, this citrus is one of the only ones that I am keeping. It's green, light, slightly fresh, very sheer and transparent. It's not overpowering, it has tea-like watery qualities, it does not steal the stage. It is just beautiful and very well-balanced and is only heard in the background. Cucumber and vanilla are the most dominant notes for me. Beeswax is there to support the sweetness too. The cucumber is not spicy, not "dill-like" unlike Santal 33, it's not overly fresh or masculine. It is rather light and is simply there as a heart note to add an edgy vegetative nature and watery quality. The perfume is not marine and does not stink of seaweed, it is rather fresh, Mediterranean, and reminds me of gardens with bergamot somewhere not far from a shore. It's beautiful! I am keeping it permanently in my collection! My next cucumbers to try on the wish list are Kilian's roses on ice and bond no 9 wall street.

Earl Grey is my favourite tea. I take it steeped just a tiny bit too long in scalding hot water with a bit of honey, no sugar, no milk. And oh my god everytime I have a cuppa I always think to myself I wanna sink into a whole steaming bathtub of this because of how amazing it smells. Well, this perfume comes pretty close with what I imagine that experience would be. I don't really know what the notes stated above are all about but I guess the combination of them somehow creates an accord that brings Earl Grey so clearly to mind. It's pretty genius. It smells exactly like Earl Grey with the bitter black tea leaves and that tangy bergamot (I don't get much of the cucumber at all though). And there's nothing lactonic or sugary about it either. It's just that plain old Earl Grey tea, exactly how I take it. It's unmistakable. It's brilliant. It's fucken awesome. I love it. The only downside is, it's a cologne concentration and it's Jo Malone so the longevity and overall performance isn't that great. If someone somewhere makes a parfum or even an extrait concentration of this juice, I would snatch it up immediately. That's how much I love this scent. In the meantime though, I will definitely always have this in my collection. It's a staple. I love putting this on in the morning and have it energize me the way a cup of Earl Grey would. I'll probably buy a big 100ml bottle after I'm done with this little 30ml one.

One of the most beautiful Jo Malone scents, I really wonder why this is one of the underdogs in their permanent lineup and not talked about more. Maybe it's the name, cucumber might sound off-putting, as it can easily cross over into an unpleasant pickle smell. Fear not, this doesn't smell like pickles, not even like a fresh cucumber. Instead it is a soft, fluffy, creamy, but also powdery, slightly sweet and slightly fresh dream of a tea scent. It has a prominent base of vanilla and musk, so it doesn't just fade away like other citrus and tea fragrances do, but melts beautifully into the skin as it dries down. The Earl Grey tea and angelica are always present though, the bitterness and green notes keep the scent fresh and not too gourmandish. I don't get the beeswax note at all. This reminds me of a lighter, more casual version of Guerlain Angelique Noire, or a better, more realistically tea-like Teazzura. It also has a lot in common with Sylvaine Delacourte's Smeraldo, but with added vanilla. This is the perfect mix of a green vanilla, a fluffy white musk and a summery tea scent. I love all of these fragrance subgenres on their own, it's no surprise I also adore Earl Grey & Cucumber.

The opening of this scent is beautiful. It is true, refreshing and citrusy bergamot with the watery cucumber note and the slight earthiness of black tea (not a note but the combination really exudes this essence). It is ever so slightly floral adding a little warmth and sweetness to the tea concept. On me personally, I don't get the apple but as it begins to settle the musk starts to develop ever so slightly. I do eventually get the dry down that others were mentioning about the baby powder smell. I don't hate it but wish that it remained tea centered because the opening is so great but doesn't hang around too long.It is still a refreshing and classy-casual scent but changes fairly quickly. After maybe 2 hours, the powdery/beeswax scent dissipates and returns to a bit of a fresh scent just mildly evocative of elizabeth arden green tea but wears very close to the skin. I may give it a few more tests in different seasons to see how it reacts.

One of the older and underrated Jo Malone. Opens up with blasting bergamot and a hint of black tea, after around 30 minutes it softens/tones down just a little bit maybe from the cucumber - still fresh but more "watery" if that makes sense and ends with a light fresh musk scent. Projects as well as the other average JM colognes (in terms of projection of JM colognes, I classify Honeysuckle & Davana and Mimosa & Cardamom in the above average range, anything less than those two is considered average). I just picked this up last week and this has been my daily cologne now. I drink a cup of earl grey tea before bed and wearing this cologne just makes what is merely routine more enjoyable. It is unusual to wear a citrusy scent before bed but wearing this down makes me feel more positive. Cannot wait for spring and summer so I can test how it performs on my skin under the sun.

My go to , ordered a few bottles as I never want to be without it. I wear this daily but often mix it up with blackberry and bay , wood sage and se salt and nectarine and honey. Those are my 3 favourite combos of Jo Malone. Earl grey and cucumber is quite unique. It actually smells like earl grey with some milk and a dash of sugar. Exactly like that. It’s quite musky and has a strong tea note. Totally unusual and special it’s slightly powdery a little bitter , a tiny citrus ,sweet and airy , it’s a fresh , refreshing treat and I want to fill my whole bathtub with this one . It’s COMPFORT in a bottle. Makes you feel great. It starts musky ,clean, refreshing , hazy and aromatic then goes cozy and woody ,warm vanillic. It’s almost 10 years old and I hope it will always be part of the regular permanent collection. Jo Malone’s just scream “ natural “ love that !!!

The tea is noticeable right away. Smells like a tea soaked cloth because of the background floral notes. The cucumber is there but mixed in with the bergamot to come across as citrusy. I imagine a cool morning (spring or fall), waking up with a room temperature cup of tea with a slice of lemon on the side of the cup. Maybe in a cabin by the beach because of the airy/watery combined with the cedar that gives it a backdrop of very light woods. It’s refreshing and uplifting, but it’s a foggy morning type of way. You’re the first one up and waiting for others to rise so you can start your day. The dry down still has the tea coming through and is a bit musky. It's nice. A relaxing fragrance, especially when the weather isn't so nice. A great one to wear when you're staying in and maybe reading a book.

Edited Review: I was haunted all day by what I thought was a warm cup of coffee with milk. Every where I went, I smelled it. Turns out, there was not coffee. Just this fragrance on me. I smelled like a warm cup of tea with milk. And it was rather comforting for a day like today. Original Review: This is just a fun/novelty scent to have. Not a strong love for me with this one. It has the draw of earl grey, and you can definitely smell it. But because mixed with the citrus notes, it just smells a lot like sweet flavored tea you get out from a Harney & Sons tea box. I was hoping it would go for a more dry woody smell, less sweet. I think Jo Malone should experiment a bit more with tea as it does fit with their brand.

This is probably the most comforting scent I've ever smelled. It smells how I imagine Mother Goose would smell. It's warm, soft, cozy, bright, fresh and relaxing. When I wear this all I want to do is get comfortable on the couch with a big warm blanket and have a movie day with a cat purring at my feet. It can be worn any time of day in any season. I would say it leans slightly feminine but it can be worn by anyone and it would smell great on them. It's very nice, inoffensive and inviting. I don't think it would be a love for everyone, but it's definitely worth a sniff if you're into perfume that smells like tea. This one does actually smell like sweet earl grey tea.

I just bought the 30ml bottle after testing several samples. It's beautiful. To my nose, it opens with a fresh blast of crispy fresh cucumber and then dries down to a wonderful earl grey tea, which is my favorite flavor of tea. It's addictive. I just love it. Longevity for such a light and fresh scent is actually quite good on my skin. I got 7 hours before I had to refresh and it projected pretty well for the first 3-4 hours before sitting closer to the skin. If you love the scent of a freshly steeped cup of earl grey, chances are you'll love this one, too. Scent : 10/10 Longevity : 7.5/10 Projection : 8/10 Sillage : 7/10 Overall : 8.5/10

Light but spicy, deep but refreshing. Earl grey and cucumber is a bit of a contradiction! I personally love this scent, I really get the citrus through the bergamot and the soft sweetness of the vanilla but then there is a freshness about it which brings everything together and a spiciness that I love. It is obviously quite hard for me to describe due to its complexity. As an earl grey tea drinker, I find this hard to dislike in any way. A scent that I could easily wear from Summer through to Winter and either day or night. It is just lovely, I would recommend that you give it a try.

This is my favorite jo Malone scent at the moment red roses remains a firm fave too but recently I have become obsessed with this. If you like the way earl grey tea smells then you will like this. It smells like true bergamot. It has a powdery smell and it is so sweet and feminine without being overtly sexy. I could spray it and go to bed in it I’m obsessed. It’s comforting like a cup of tea but also bright. It layers with other scents well lifting heavier scents. I need to see if they have a lotion since jo Malone never lasts long but the lotions really do

There is a heavy dose of bergamot at first, but it dissipates within 20 minutes. I don't smell any cucumber or cucumber sandwiches. If there is cucumber here, it is not realistic. Luckily when this dries down, it smells like black tea with milk. The beeswax is very pronounced. I love it! It also smells a lot like honey-coated wheat flakes with milk. This was not high tea in a bottle as I hoped it would be, but it's a creamy and simple tea. Sometimes I think it smells like powdered milk and sugar. Will be great for layering with other Jo Malone perfumes.

This is a can't go wrong scent, It's delicate, fresh, fun, sparkling, uplifting all in one, the SA @ Nord's recommended I try it layered with the Nectarine Blossom beings I already own that...&& Omg I fell in love I was catching subtle wiffs of it as I continued walking through the mall && could not stop smelling my arm, it paired so well && gave me a happy feeling when I smelled it...&& well you can't go wrong with that, now I want it so I can layer...try it out && try that layering pair out as well. :)

I love all Jo Malone fragrances but I have always been disappointed about their longevity. This one, however, is the one for me!! The smell is sophisticated : I don't detect much cucumber but I get a lot of tea and something flowery. Another plus: compared to other JM I have, it lasted more than 5 hours (for the price it should last longer imo). Also, when combined with JM Blue agava and cacao it gives a deeper and elegant touch. Love it !!

I love the scent, smells exactly like a cup of Earl Grey Tea with some musk and sweetness that is just gorgeous. However, there is no lasting power. None. At all. Fragrance lasts fairly well on my skin but this one just doesn’t. After an hour, I can’t even smell it where I applied. It just vanishes. Its not one I would repurchase or recommend others to purchase. Such a shame because it really is a beautiful scent.

Love at first whiff. Exceptionally beautiful, clean, fresh, sweet, and classy. No note stands out for me, Earl Grey & Cucumber is so well-blended. Very versatile. Good for people who need a subtle fragrance for office or church, or who don't like strong fragrances. Lasts reasonably well for a subtle fragrance, makes you feel fresh all day, though it stays close to the skin. Full bottle worthy for me.

Beautiful! Best tea fragrance I've smelled. It's like sipping a freshly brewed cup of Earl Grey tea, breathing in the fragrant steam with a touch of fresh honey comb. I really love this one. This is my second favorite in the line. Surprisingly it really projects and lasts a long time. I love it best in the evening after a long hot bath. So relaxing!

Earl Grey and Cucumber is my signature fragrance. It is absolutely amazing. It's clean and fresh and dries down soft and elegant and lasts for hours on me. It's really inoffensive and perfect for an office environment. I've developed allergies over the years and have had to give up many fragrances but I can wear this with no worries.

Beautiful clean and fresh scent. The first thing i get is the citrus, hinting at the Earl Grey tea. After about 10 minutes this mellows down and i can smell the jasmine. Not sure if i get something soapy but in a nice way. I dont really get the cucumber in there but overall it's one of my favourite Jo Malones.

I love this! Very relaxing and fresh, but still spicy scent. It smells exactly like tea. I feel like I am reading some good book and drinking citrus tea in garden. This is perfect for autumn and spring. I think this scent is perfect for work, because it’s so light.. This perfume last for me like 3-4 hours.

Totally adored this very clean, crisp, refreshing scent. The Earl grey "jumps" at me, could not catch the cucumber though. Consider rather pricey for a cologne. Paid SGD193(approx USD143) for 100ml after a 15% discount at Paragon Siam Center in bangkok.

Personally it doesn't smell like earl grey. To me it smells like cucumber in a glas of iced green tea with a sweet undertone. It's fresh and would be good as an everyday perfume. Nostalgic. Reminds me of the 00's. I'll definitely save up for this one.

This deserves so much more love than it gets! It's a beautiful aromatic bergamot, with a lovely musky base. It's not necessarily a compliment getter (although people do tell me I smell nice), but it's just a beautiful and unique uplifting scent.

This scent takes me back to when my husband and I were planning our wedding. It was June, rainy season, and we were always out and about, busy with preparations .Every time I smell it, I remember those moments and the freshness of rain.

This is my absolute favourite summer fragrance ever! It's so unique and yet relatively simple. Smells fantastic on and lasts all day on my skin. It softens beautiful. Elegant, subtle, complimentary. Can't go wrong with this.

Fresh and clean. My personal #1 from JM thus far. Even after working in the yard during the summer it still smells so nice. I get better longevity out of this that any other JM, except maybe pomegranate noir.

Fresh scent - predominantly Earl Grey and angelica on me, feels and shines like a pearl, so elegant and innocent. Comforting waxy base. Its like a touch of beige lipstick left on a tea-mug.

A happy, feminine bottle of beauty that breaks my heart because of its poor longevity. If it wasn't for that one fatal flaw this would be one of my favorites of all scents.

I love the Earl Grey tea, so this fragrance seemed created just for me. It 'really very elegant, the only problem is the length: really short :(

I adore this perfume... I mix it with Oud and Bergamot which gives the Oud/Bergaot a much fresher smell.

I don't really get tea or cucumber here, but the cardamom and coriander do come up quite a bit.

The opening is gorgeous! It immediately reminds me of the Twinings earl grey tea that I used to have before, only this one is more amped up and a bit higher in pitch, but it's very accurate none the less. It's really beautiful, refreshing & realistic. It's like a glass of cold earl grey tea. Although in the drydown, that earl grey tea steps back and it becomes softer, more powdery, vaguely musky perhaps & there is a little tiny bit of a weird cardboard like smell in it but it's not bad at all, in fact it makes it a little bit interesting. The drydown somewhat reminds me of those perfumed Johnson's baby powder, but not the original one. I'm just not sure though if it's worth the money if the drydown is not consistently as beautiful as the opening, knowing that Jo Malone fragrances are more on the pricey side. I'll have to give it a couple more testings if I happend to be in the store to know whether this is going to be in my wishlist or not.

I really like this fragrance. To me it starts of very peppery for some reason even thougj that isn't in the notes and the bergamot comes in strong, the pepper settles down after about ten minutes and you get a realistic but fresh earl grey scent. I can't really smell the cucumber but there is a fresh, clean note to it which probably comes from that. After about an hour and a half it turns mostly powdery with a milder earl grey scent, never becoming sweet. Unfortunately after about 3 hours I completely can't smell it any more but that's usually the case with my skin. Sillage isn't strong so bear that in mind. But overall it's a very nice, fresh, elegant scent. I'd say it's unisex but a little more feminine leaning after the dry down. Will probably buy a full bottle. Would recommend as a spring/summer day scent. Definitely office friendly and inoffensive while still being unique and interesting.

Limey limey limey! First blast of this is ALL the bergamot. It then settles down to the lovely musky tea notes whilst still staying fresh, light and citrussy. I have to say, the cucumber isn't super prominent for me but I think that is what is keeping the Tea notes so fresh as the fragrance dries down. I LOVE this on hot summer nights when it seems to go into overdrive (probably due to perspiration). It doesn't last long on me (but nothing really does) but it's so lovely to reapply that it's no chore. Word of warning - my boyfriend tried this once - it smelt like toilet cleaner on him! Something about his chemistry set it off badly so definitely one to sample and not go on reviews alone. Just finished my 30ml of this and sad to see it go, although will probably replace with the new Diptyque Eau des Sens instead as I can't get it out of my head....

A mellow citrus opening. Becomes less "tea-like" the longer it sits on the skin. Once it hits the dry down, it mostly loses its fresh citrus and cucumber scent. Becomes a bit powdery. Surprisingly heavy on the beeswax and vanilla. Overall, a very mellow dry down. Classy, inoffensive, relaxing... but not much tea. I think this would probably fit best on a classy older woman but it's a versatile frag that any age or gender could potentially pull off. Could work for any season, but feels more fall/winter than spring/summer. I was mostly looking for a "tea" fragrance. While this definitely does a good job capturing that Earl Grey smell, especially early on, it leans more 'feminine' than I'd like. Not a good fit for me, but it could make for an excellent signature on the right person. Pleasing, inviting, relaxing scent. Very soft. 8.5/10

I tried this on my wrist in a store, and at first it was rather bitter and spicy. Not in an unpleasant way, but it certainly might not be for everyone. At first I mostly got bergamot and some red apple, but later on the bitterness has settled and it has developed into a very pleasant woody skin scent, that I could not stop smelling. I didn’t get much cucumber since this scent is not that fresh for the cucumber to stand out, but Earl Grey is definitely there. The dry down actually reminded me of one of my favorite perfumes, which is Black Amber by Zara. I cannot pinpoint what exact note provided this similarity, but they both have that pleasant warm and cozy woodiness. I’m not sure if I’d purchase a big bottle, but I’d certainly like to have a 30 ml one in my collection. The longevity was 4-5 hours and the sillage wasn’t very strong.

I absolutely love the earl grey notes so I bought a big bottle immediately. But I did regret that decision when I realised it did not last at all. The earl grey note fades away on my skin quickly, around 30 minutes. Afterwards it is a faint trace of powdery and creamy beeswax note, which I do not mind, but it is faint that I don’t think anyone else can smell it unless they press their noses to my arm. I still think it is a beautiful, inoffensive, fragrance but it is a shame that it does not last, and over spraying would be a bit too extravagant to me when they don’t come cheap. I wish Jo Malone made it a bit more long lasting - it would be my all-time favourite if they did. I will not repurchase but this is my go-to when I just want to smell that earl grey goodness, or for work or among people who might not like perfume.

Can anyone help me out with a similar fragrance. I am a fresh perfume person, and usually stick to Yves Rocher. I got a sample of this because on paper it smelled heavenly. For some reason this fit my perfect cloudy fall day idea until it hit that old lady drydown that i've now seen other people complain about. Its so hard to find a fall perfume that doesn't smell like a yankee candle or that one aunt that you hold your breath around. If anyone knows something that smells similarly fresh but simultaneously suited for colder weather I'd absolutely love to hear it. I had really thought my search was over, but I guess not. I do really still like the perfume, Im just looking for something a bit younger without being sugary sweet, tropical, or like a frosted donut.

I tested a dab sample and find this to be very nice, fresh yet comforting. This is perhaps a notch up from trying to replicate spa vibes at home with a candle or room scent. Nicely balanced, I get a sense of all the notes: the fruit, florals, herbs & spice, musk, and sweetness. I can discern a likeness to Bvlgari au the Vert. Au the Vert has more citrus initially and then more spice and wood. This may be in the top three of the tea frags I have tried but there are some niche ones on my list to try. This is most certainly an easily wearable reach for me. I would consider a buying a full bottle. But I'm likely in the same boat as others here, I can't justify the purchase until I enjoy using up some of my samples and bottles on hand.

i like it but i don't love it. it is a good scent. it is just different from what i had imagined. i get lots of beeswax and sweetness that comes from it, and the tea is quite dark and a bit smoky. this makes an autumn scent for me. i don't smell any cucumber, nor citruses nor aquatic notes. i had imagined something fresh and aquatic, like a mix between Aqua di Gioia and Elisabeth Arden White tea, but it is not for my nose. It is a good scent, still fresh and light and i like it anyway, i will just leave it for autumn due tue that beeswax. my bottle may be a little older, that may explain why i get base notes basically. for the reference i love wood sage & sea salt and peony blush & suede. haven't tried any others.

I’ll be the first in line if Jo Malone decides to make Earl Grey and Cucumber in an EDP. The cologne strength is too fleeting on my skin. What I love: citrus opening that fades to a spicy, summer scent, unlike others in my 150+ collection. Then it turns to a sweet musk base. I’ve read no other mention of the addition of Angelica, but it’s one of my favorite herbal notes. It’s here with something that is turning to powder, a light powder but it’s there. I don’t pick up cucumber or tea, but no matter because on me EGaC is a dark and bohemian “light” scent, if that makes sense. Can’t justify the short lifespan - 20 minutes - with the parting of hard earned cash. So a pass, but I wish it was not the case.

I get zero cucumber, and only the earl grey tea. The tea note here has resemblance to Twining's earl grey tea, it has the same citrusy fragrance and a very subtle tea smell, only this one is way, way more subtle, which is a very common thing for Jo Malone. Whenever they will put a certain note on its name will either be way too subtle, or nothing at all, and the majority is just a cloud of perfumeyness, that's why I'm not a huge fan of this brand, but this one is not bad at all. Out of all the Jo Malone scents that I've tried, this one is the few that I like, along with French Lime Blossom which is the best from all of the Jo Malones that I've smelled.

Testing on my skin, bergamot really pops off my skin. I don't normally like apple but it works well with the tea and citrus. Drydown very pleasent with mostly tea, musk, and a little honey. Freshness that is borderline gourmand and works well in the heat without getting too sweet. This would be perfect for spring and summer. I'll consider a full bottle for the warm weather. There is some ambroxan in here but it's not dosed to where it's bothersome to my nose. Strong like from me and I normally dislike tea in my fragrances. Scent 7.1/10 Performance 5/10

It does smell exactly like a slightly sharp cup of (indeed Twinings) Earl grey tea. Like a cup of tea that has been left out, and steeped completely. I quite like it, in hot weather (20 + C )it is refreshing (though then I only get bergamot), in cooler weather (15 ish, It's raining right now)I get more notes. Just realized that it is one of the few fragrances that does not smell bad on top of Vicks/Vaporub, will keep this in mind for whenever I need it, and lose my sense of smell. I think its relatively safe anyways, because of its light lasting power.

I really like this scent. It's very calming and reminds me of Japan. It's a crisp, fresh, summertime fragrance, very feminine. I do get the Earl Grey, and it's enjoyable. I also detect some honey in the background. I'm not really getting the cucumber, unless I sniff directly from the bottle and not my skin. And even then it's fleeting. After an hour or so, it gets warmer and creamy, and the vanilla starts to come through. I'm not totally sure if I myself would want to smell like this, but I would consider purchasing one just to enjoy it at home.

Ice-cold, honey-sweetened, refreshing, citrusy drink with a splash of cucumber and vanilla. Does it last more than 2 hours? No. Is there any fragrance that smells similar to it? No. Does it smell like a cleaning product? A little bit. Still, there's something about it that makes me stick my nose to my skin every time I test-spray it. It's cooling, it's fresh, it's clean, it's musky, it's citrusy, it's sweet, it's addicting. Too short-lived for me, but props to Christine Nagel for this beauty!

It's a little citrusy, a little peppery, a little green, a little floral, a little musky. But unmistakably Earl Grey. At this point, I think it's no secret that you are not going to get much in the way of sillage or longevity from any Jo Malone scent. But this scent is just pure calmness bottled, from the opening to its last whispers of incense and musk 6 hours after. It doesn't get any compliments, but I keep reaching for this anyway. The smell of inner peace.

My first ever Jo Malone. This, to me, was a rather sweet and bitter Tea + Cucumber scent on my skin. I got really no watery notes or citruses, but only got loose tea bag vibes and honey. It was one of the better-performing colognes from JML and projected way better. I never thought of repurchasing this but whenever I smell this at the JML counter or on the street, I instantly miss the days I used to wear this. Quite unique and a good scent for gifting.

On my skin, i get sort of bitter tea in the opening, before it turns into a nice cup of earl grey with the cucumber in the background. I can also smell a hint of honey, which smoothen this fragrance up. It gives a sort of spa like scent to me. Really nice and comforting, but the sillage is as low as anything. Longevity is definitely low too, i get something like 4 hours max. One of the best Jo Malones for me (despite its terrible performance).
