English Pear & Freesia

Initially I thought it's too soapy, then I tried it in a rainy day and wow, that was so much better (english stuff). It smelled like it was leveled up with Iso E Super (in a good way). This is by far my favourite fragrance from Jo Malone. It's an amazing fruity and floral scent, with the freesia perfectly complementing the fruity freshness of the pear, which gives off an elegant yet clean vibe; one where you wake up in a beautiful flower garden. This is easily a signature scent, and u can wear this year-round for sure; the top note is this effervescent pear note, which is juicy and amazing, with the freesia in the back. The middle note is where this shines as it settles and becomes more of a skin scent where you smell fresh floral and elegant; the base notes are the same but a bit deeper. For projection, I'd count this as intimate, but I find it quite appealing and attractive, as it's more personal when someone can smell you up close, which I find a bit romantic. The sillage is quite good, as when I'm in public, my scent trail lingers and I've gotten compliments from strangers and friends. The fragrance is unisex in my opinion, but more female-leaning, and for its longevity, it can get 6-8 hours out of it, so I'd say it's pretty good. Overall, the scent is quite simple, and I think it is great for layering or just wearing it as is. For the price range, it's pretty well priced, as the quality of the scent speaks for itself while being among the more affordable options from Jo Malone. A solid choice for anyone who wants an elegant yet crisp, femme-leaning fragrance.

Very surprised to see how divisive this perfume is. To me this smells bright, fizzy, sparkling and alcoholic, and the actual notes I'm reading as pear and vaguely floral. But not white floral like the soapy kind of perfumes, J'adore etc, though this one has sth ever so slightly soapy. Above all, this perfume smells like some kind of sweet cider oder fruity beer, or a fizzy apple juice maybe. I love it for sunny summer events, where a slightly alcoholic scent isn't totally out of place. But I'm always careful not to spray too much, I find this has surprising sillage and longevity and the fizziness actually stays the whole way through. I'm always a little worried it will tilt into smelling as if I've actually gone on a bender. In the right dose, it's striking a delicate balance between smelling summery and festive, and sticky and drunk.

The more i wear this the more i grow to like it. i find the opening a little intense, very sharp and fresh on my skin, but dries down to the most beautiful intimate tea-like melon scent, with the most subtle sweetness. really, really nuanced and beautiful. English Pear and Freesia is elegant but carefree, something Marge from Talented Mr. Ripley or Natasha from SATC would wear. Very similar to Chloé's Chloé Eau de Parfum, which is one of my favourite fragrances of all time, just that this is lighter and 'airier'. This lasts no more than 2-3 hours on my skin, and to smell it one has to get up close and personal, perhaps that adds to the allure and intimate sense. Love, love, love it. Favourite on lounge-days i have time to appreciate it.

This is absolutely RAVISHING!~ Most fragrances (even my favorites) "disappear" to my own nose after a short while, but for some reason, this one contains enough competing counter-elements that it stays interesting and keeps blooming, hour after hour. It's very rare that I get to enjoy what I'm wearing, what a unique fragrance experience! I am accustomed to my Husband loving something as it dries down, but by then I usually can't smell it anymore...this is SO complex, surprising, and extravagant that it stays lively all day. It comes off as a woodsy floral, both intelligent and laid-back, piquant and blase'--and is equally lush and crisp. Perfect for work OR a dinner date, not typical or cloying by any definition. LOVE LOVE LOVE it.
