English Pear & Freesia

Initially I thought it's too soapy, then I tried it in a rainy day and wow, that was so much better (english stuff). It smelled like it was leveled up with Iso E Super (in a good way). This is by far my favourite fragrance from Jo Malone. It's an amazing fruity and floral scent, with the freesia perfectly complementing the fruity freshness of the pear, which gives off an elegant yet clean vibe; one where you wake up in a beautiful flower garden. This is easily a signature scent, and u can wear this year-round for sure; the top note is this effervescent pear note, which is juicy and amazing, with the freesia in the back. The middle note is where this shines as it settles and becomes more of a skin scent where you smell fresh floral and elegant; the base notes are the same but a bit deeper. For projection, I'd count this as intimate, but I find it quite appealing and attractive, as it's more personal when someone can smell you up close, which I find a bit romantic. The sillage is quite good, as when I'm in public, my scent trail lingers and I've gotten compliments from strangers and friends. The fragrance is unisex in my opinion, but more female-leaning, and for its longevity, it can get 6-8 hours out of it, so I'd say it's pretty good. Overall, the scent is quite simple, and I think it is great for layering or just wearing it as is. For the price range, it's pretty well priced, as the quality of the scent speaks for itself while being among the more affordable options from Jo Malone. A solid choice for anyone who wants an elegant yet crisp, femme-leaning fragrance.

Very surprised to see how divisive this perfume is. To me this smells bright, fizzy, sparkling and alcoholic, and the actual notes I'm reading as pear and vaguely floral. But not white floral like the soapy kind of perfumes, J'adore etc, though this one has sth ever so slightly soapy. Above all, this perfume smells like some kind of sweet cider oder fruity beer, or a fizzy apple juice maybe. I love it for sunny summer events, where a slightly alcoholic scent isn't totally out of place. But I'm always careful not to spray too much, I find this has surprising sillage and longevity and the fizziness actually stays the whole way through. I'm always a little worried it will tilt into smelling as if I've actually gone on a bender. In the right dose, it's striking a delicate balance between smelling summery and festive, and sticky and drunk.

The more i wear this the more i grow to like it. i find the opening a little intense, very sharp and fresh on my skin, but dries down to the most beautiful intimate tea-like melon scent, with the most subtle sweetness. really, really nuanced and beautiful. English Pear and Freesia is elegant but carefree, something Marge from Talented Mr. Ripley or Natasha from SATC would wear. Very similar to Chloé's Chloé Eau de Parfum, which is one of my favourite fragrances of all time, just that this is lighter and 'airier'. This lasts no more than 2-3 hours on my skin, and to smell it one has to get up close and personal, perhaps that adds to the allure and intimate sense. Love, love, love it. Favourite on lounge-days i have time to appreciate it.

This is absolutely RAVISHING!~ Most fragrances (even my favorites) "disappear" to my own nose after a short while, but for some reason, this one contains enough competing counter-elements that it stays interesting and keeps blooming, hour after hour. It's very rare that I get to enjoy what I'm wearing, what a unique fragrance experience! I am accustomed to my Husband loving something as it dries down, but by then I usually can't smell it anymore...this is SO complex, surprising, and extravagant that it stays lively all day. It comes off as a woodsy floral, both intelligent and laid-back, piquant and blase'--and is equally lush and crisp. Perfect for work OR a dinner date, not typical or cloying by any definition. LOVE LOVE LOVE it.

Don't get this wrong, this cologne might lean feminine but any man can pull it off. My amazing girlfriend got this for me and I love it. This reminded me of On a Date by Maison Margiela. The pear and melon add a nice fruity touch and the rose in the middle isn't a powdery floral but more of a jammy juicy rose scent. The patchouli in the base keeps it all grounded with a slightly sharp green note. Overall I love this since I wanted to wear On a Date but my girlfriend said it smelled like her aunt's house so this gives me an alternative to a unique DNA that I love.

I was looking everywhere for a spring/summer scent and I found this one, and oh boy, I totally fell in love. This is a mood booster, flowers, fresh, sweet. I'm wearing sunligt when I put on this fragrance. It's lovely, I'm so happy with this purchase. My mother didn't like it, I feel that this may not be for everyone as well hahaha but it was love at first smell for me. It lasts ok in my skin, as the days are warn right now. Either way, I'm sure I'll continue to repurchase and I'll even look into more Jo Malone fragrances. I'm basic, but I smell divine hehehe.

This scent is hypnotic, with all the flirty youthfulness of a clean, fresh scent but a palpable sophistication that makes it versatile and suited to a variety of ages and styles. Reminiscent of golden hour in early September. Freshly washed hair and a floaty white summer dress on its last wear of the year. A wicker basket brimming with ripe, honeyed pears. Dewy grass underfoot, a bouquet of fresh roses from your lover. The scent of the lake drifts on the breeze. The perfect date to finish the last of the summer wine.

I fell in love with this perfume in duty free in Heathrow the middle of a long trip. I squirted some on my wrist to try it. It smelled incredibly clean and fresh and continued to smell amazing for the next 6 hour flight. I bought some when I got home and go to it when I want to smell clean, fresh, and happy. On me the pear and melon are dominant even after dry down. But I seem to have weird chemistry. It’s great for long days. On me it is long lasting and remains strong.

This is my signature scent! It does best in spring/summer since it’s so light but I also love it during the day in the winter when I want to feel freshly showered and clean. I feel so classy when I wear this too. I always put just one spray in my hair and whenever I go to hug a friend I get compliments on how good my hair smells. I tend to like lighter fragrances so the longevity isn’t an issue for me - plus I don’t find it as bad as some others have reported!

Smelling this instantly transported me to the countryside on a late summer afternoon. The sun glows warmly, and the air is heavy with the scent of trees laden with decadently ripe fruit. The pear note is absolutely beautiful--it made me swoon every time I caught a whiff. It feels fresh and innocent, like running through sunlit meadows. Get this if you want to feel like a Regency romance heroine in a film directed by Sofia Coppola.

This is gorgeous! A sweet, fresh, slightly powdery pear and freesia-forward scent with complimenting rose, melon, rhubarb, and musk notes. I don't really pick up on the patchouli and amber, which is really nice as I can sometimes struggle with the former. I only wish it wasn't so pricey, especially with the shorter longevity. I've really loved everything I've sampled from Jo Malone so far, but this one takes the cake.

This is different from what I usually wear, but I absolutely love it. Yes, it might smell basic, but it's still really good. To me, it has a strong floral-musky scent that feels fresh and elegant. It’s light yet noticeable, making it perfect for everyday wear. However, I do wish it lasted longer on my skin. The only thing I dislike about it is the price, it's quite expensive for something that fades after a few hours.

I love Jo Malone and I really appreciate this fragrance. I love pear and freesia scents separately but when added together with the addition of some other smells made a simple but classy fragrance. It’s juicy and clean. It reminds me of being on a cruise ship once it starts to dry down. I tried layering it with something sweet and fruity and it was delightful. I wouldn’t mind having a full size of it.

It's a crisp bright morning, early summer, and I'm wandering in a blooming garden with a sparkling beverage in hand... I am unexpectedly very in love with this fragrance!! I ran out of my beloved sample of Imaginary Authors' Sundrunk around this time last year (rhubarb, rose, citrus) and English Pear & Freesia is surprisingly SO similar: equally delightful but somehow more polished

I love the delectable, juicy fruitiness of the pear and melon notes. A welcome respite from the usual cacophony of citrus scents out there. Just note it's not exactly a youthful scent, and might be inappropriate for casual outings especially in humid, tropical climates. I was told I "smelled like a rich aunt" for wearing it... in my twenties! (Wear it at your own discretion.)

I really do love this perfume, especially the pear note! It's very fresh. Perfect for the office. I just wish the scent lasted longer!...it practically fades within an hour, well on my skin anyway!. So for the price, I don't find it very good value for money, which does tend to let it down somewhat as I don't consider Jo Malone to be a cheap brand.

I thought Nectarine Blossom & Honey was beautiful but, was I wrong. English Pear & Freesia is similar but more vibrant, fizzy (if that makes sense). I was hoping, because of the pear, that the fragrance was going to be boring, heavy and sweet. But this is the opposite. I wouldn’t mind carrying a small sample with me to cheer me up anywhere I go.

One of my favorite perfumes, it lasts absolutely all day no matter what I'm doing and people compliment me on it almost every time i wear it. It's definitely a crowd pleaser! It's incredibly refreshing, the pear is the strongest note in my opinion. Smells very luxurious and summery but works great in the winter too. Would absolutely recommend!

Smelled this at Sephora and I was floored. I am a man, but this is one of the most beautiful perfumes I have smelled. It is a bright, fresh, floral fragrance with one of the nicest notes of pear. Many people say this is basic but its the basics done very well and would love for my misses to wear this. 10/10

Surprisingly long lasting for a cologne, both on skin and on clothes. 3 sprays lasted from dinner into the morning. I appreciate the gentle sweetness and subtle fragrance of the pear, which on me never faded. I prefer the freesia over the sweetpea version, as I find it to be smoother & sweeter.

Just repurchased this delightfully pretty fragrance. I really love the tart, green edge this one has. It smells classy and sophisticated. Can really pick up the patchouli and rhubarb notes. It lasts most of the day for me, especially when sprayed on clothes. My favorite from JM:)

the pear and melon are incredibly juicy and once the florals come in it's truly an experience, as if you were to walk out of an orchard and into a flower field. i love taking this one with me on travels as it performs well and it's a guaranteed compliment-magnet (୨୧ ❛ᴗ❛)✧

i know its overhyped and oversubscribed but its all those things for a reason!! it's a wonderful crowd pleaser that is mass-appealing for a reason. smells fresh, simple, likeable and gets me compliments! reminds me of summer & spring summer days in the best way possible

I love this perfume. It smells like iced tea to me and I love the mellow, light, fruit notes. It makes it smell delicious without being sickly sweet. I wore this perfume and the car smelled like it and my friend said her clothes smelled like it the next day!

I decided to sell mine. It's a nice perfume but not for me. I do not enjoy the freesia note. It's too flowery and powdery for me. However, I do like the pear note a lot! The pear makes it fruity and beautiful! I agree with others, it's very fresh and clean.

This has been my signature for over 6 years. I can wear this all year around. It never fails to get me a compliment from men and women. Clean, crisp, fresh, sparkly. I can easily layer this over many other fragrances to amp it up. My favorite by Jo Malone.

This is a gorgeous perfume with those freesia notes coming through strong at the top. Smells like a beautiful sunny morning walking through a wildflower field. Lasts 5-6 hrs, projects decently well. This is my 3rd favorite Jo Malone smell.

It's a lovely fruity (though gentle, not overly sweet or "juicy") and floral perfume! After it dries down it has the soft and gentle pear with the freesia and rose sitting gently in the background, it smells like a vintage powder to me.

Very strong, delicious-smelling scent. The pear and freesia really come through on my clothes. I get a ton of compliments. Not sure if this is office-friendly, as it kind of overwhelms me at times because it is very strong.

I read online this was a dupe of the Tropical Splash Barbie scent from the 90s so I bought a sample. It definitely is spot on. I normally wouldn’t be into a fragrance like this, but nostalgia is a helluva drug so I’m a fan.

I am buying this as a man, as I was not aware this was a female fragrance. I still think that it is a perfect unisex summer scent that can be worn for birthdays or for weddings. Very well made and my new favourite.

I didn’t think much of this scent at first but it has grown on me. The pear notes in this has a silky quality to it. Just the right scent to wear at gatherings. Extremely light, pleasant and delicate to the nose.

My go to summer scent. Amazing for hotter climates, and my go-to for an easy to grab fragrance. The rhubarb provides a nice sharpness at the start, but dries down to a beautiful pear/freesia/rose mix

Smells like lime Smirnoff ice and I love it

Wooo, this was a nice surprise! The first JM fragrance I really loved (the second one being Wood Sage and Sea Salt, which I discovered later). JM perfumes tend to be way too soft for my liking, which is in bizarre contrast to the scented candles which are very strong. This is the first JM perfume that really packed a punch - I'm surprised it's listed as soft-to-moderate as for me it's average-to-above-average strength and great longevity. The pear and freesia are very well-blended, to the point where I have trouble deciding if this is mainly a fruity or a floral perfume. I think I lean ever so slightly on 'fruity'. It's fresh but it's also thicker than I expected (the musk?) and BOOZY. These are not fresh pears off the pear tree, they're boozy poached pears! That makes this perfume fairly unisex, in my opinion, although probably leaning more on the feminine side. The freesia is fresh and almost soapy. The overall fragrance is beautiful, as it's simultaneously clean, uplifting, elegant and boozy.

I'm pretty new to perfumes aside from intermittently wearing the Lush solid ones I bought maybe a decade back and haven't got through yet. My partner bought me a couple of sample boxes for my birthday. I'd got it into my head that I wasn't wild about fruit or floral fragrances, but I actually find this quite lovely. Very fresh, cute without being twee. I don't find it particularly complex, or that it changes much on dry down -- in fact as everyone mentions, it fades pretty fast. I find it quite easy to overapply at first so it gets a bit overwhelming; I think I'll have to start applying it little and often. Overall I was pleasantly surprised with this. It was a gift though so I don't know how much it costs -- probably more than I'd spend, though I'm stingy! EDIT: five months later and I've gone off this somewhat -- a bit oversweet and cloying for me now, unfortunately. I tend to spritz this only when my outfit's a bit lacking and I need another way for people to know I'm a homosexual.

This is a very simple, linear scent, but I do reach for it pretty frequently during the spring. To me, this is like a drinking pleasant pear cider (not sure if that even exists) on a slightly cool spring day. It's crisp and light, and I think it's great for everyday wear. I was gifted this a few years back, and I do look forward to using it as soon as March hits. However, as much as I like this scent, it does struggle with longevity. I don't find that it lasts very long, and like the other reviews mention, the projection was very close to the skin. I currently have the 1oz travel size, but I don't think I'll be purchasing the full size just because of how short the duration is, and the projection is more intimate than I'd like (not to mention the very expensive price point). Since this is such a popular Jo Malone scent, I would love to see a more intense version of the fragrance that is stronger and lasts longer - that's something I'd be willing to shell out some more money on.
