Frangipani Flower Cologne

This smells like the Celadine and Singapore variety of Frangipani flowers at a beach on a breezy, sunny morning. It is not a balmy, suntan lotion type of scent like Replica Beach Walk or the many other solar florals. It is a happy and fresh take on Frangipani with delicate creaminess without going into Coconut or suntan lotion territory. The lemon opening is an energetic zest and not sweet like many other perfumes' tropical drink note. I cannot compare it to any other fragrance on the market. It is unique and very different from Ormonde Jayne's Frangipani. I feel like I'm experiencing the Pacific beaches when I'm wearing this. It's not just the flower but the whole feeling, emotions and textures. There are so many varieties of Frangipani. This is not the rainbow variety or the pink sunset ones but the Celadine.

If it has white floral, aldehydic, and citrus accord I’m already sold! My favorite combination 🥰🥰🥰 My nose has changed over the years but this is the one true fragrance type that I can’t get enough of in summer. I love it! This doesn’t smell like Elizabeth Arden Sunflowers! That perfume is screechy and stinks. Honeysuckle & Davana is more of a Sunflowers dupe/match. The yellow florals are smoother and blend much better in this fragrance

As white florals go, this one is an absolute delight. Smells like pure sunshine. There’s something simultaneously grown up and childlike about it, like smelling your mom’s sunscreen while you play on the beach. The sandalwood and benzoin also give this a warm, lactonic quality in the dry down as well. Not sure about longevity yet but I’ll definitely be reaching for this all summer.

I just love the smell of frangipani and always wanted a parfume to imitate its scent. Jo Malone executes this perfectly with just an added touch of lemon. The longevity is a few hours only, but quite expected from this brand and the flowery profile. Smells very natural and authentic, well done!

Gorgeous and graceful frangipani. Doesn't manage to go overboard with the sunscreen vibes which I am grateful for. I usually don't gravitate to solar scent profiles but this one is so elegant and effortless to me. One of my favorite JM scents for sure, especially for the summer.

Smells sophisticated. If you've ever been to a Shangri-la 5 star hotel, this will remind you of it. Better on the dry down, probably best for dressed up events.

tl;dr: pretty, pleasant, feminine, and gently sun-warmed, frangipane dresses down florals 🌼🌞🍯✨ A tempered and well-blended floral fragrance that leans into a high-end suntan lotion vibe, but in a way that feels sophisticated rather than kitschy or deeply nostalgic. The florals feel diffused and softened by heat, so they never slip into the “overly mature” space that white florals often occupy. There is a warm, slightly hazy quality, like walking through a garden at midday when every bloom is at its peak. The opening is classically floral and sharper than the middle and base, thanks to the lemon note, but quickly settles. Frangipani and benzoin add a subtle, almost honeyed sweetness to the middle and base, rounding everything out and turns the floral notes into something soft, warm, and luminous rather than heady or formal. I don’t usually enjoy overt florals and my taste currently leans toward musks, gourmands, or herbal freshies so my enjoyment of this scent surprised me. It has enough layering to feel complex but isn’t challenging or polarizing. I'm torn between whether to keep it or gift it because it sits outside my wardrobe. Overall, it’s clearly well-crafted and stands out as an approachable floral that feels elegant yet effortless.

Starts off very citrusy and fresh! Not soapy or screechy to my nose. After a little while, I really get the jasmine and frangipani, which is wonderful. It’s soft, pretty, clean, and so beautiful for warm weather. The dry down remained mostly floral and sweet to my nose, but I got a small hint of sandalwood. After 2.5h, I can barely pick up any scent on my skin. This seems to be the case for most summery citrus/floral scents, so it needs to be reapplied and sprayed more heavily than I’m used to. Sillage and projection is almost nonexistent, but it’s beautiful as a personal scent. I don’t think I’d pay for a full bottle, but I’d really like to get the 10mL travel size.

I raced through my 30ml bottle of this this summer. It’s definitely not a heavy, tropical frangipani fragrance, but a much lighter, fresher one. It’s got a cologne like citrus lightness which forms the first phase, settling into a prettier softer floral drydown with the frangipani coming through. It’s pretty ephemeral- last isn’t great and it’s pretty close to the skin, which is probably why I got through my bottle so quickly. I enjoyed my bottle but I’m not too sad that I’m not able to buy another. A summer fling, not a lasting relationship.

I am really enjoying this , it’s bright and sunny, so easy to wear, and with decent longevity and sillage. I must confess though that it’s so not what I had imagined! Because frangipani is barely noticeable , on my skin in any case! On me this is a lovely zesty jasmine! So do sample it if it’s frangipani itself you are really after! ( and quick, as JM limited editions seem to have a following and disappear fast!!!!)

I really like this one, aldehyde brings out the clarity of the sun and sky, the fresh dewy yellow blossom in a cozy morning. A slight and just enough greenness from the stem. Yellow floral always kinda smells like a squished bug, the grassiness, freshness, earthiness are fully brought out here. Pissy Ylangylang luckily is just a modest foil, empowering frangipani and muting its own animalic personality. 7/10

I bought this in a moment of weakness and poor judgement. I have this problem of not being able to dislike a citrusy floral fragrence. Its very fresh, I think it would be inappropriate to wear this in an office, it’s that fresh. Maybe at the beach or the gym, it would suit better. It’s longevity is non-existant. So be prepared to carry the bottle with you wherever you go.

I just picked this up after using the tester bottle at sephora. At first, I thought it was super unique to my collection, but the more I wear it, the more I think it smells like MFK Aqua Universalis. Clean, lemon, floral. In my opinion, this is very linear. I don't notice a huge change. It settles nicely and actually lasts longer than expected.

Shades of Sun Di Gioia with a heavy-handed lemon opening. Fresh and green, but very light. Low sillage and will definitely need to be reapplied. I was gifted my bottle, but I wouldn't recommend spending retail price for a full bottle, discounted would be best (if still available).

Flowers flowers flowers I’m in a garden of flowers. Not a ton of frangipani, definitely getting the lemon & ylang ylang. It’s clean and even a little soapy, decent but not exactly my style. It’s interesting though. Definitely more feminine.

A really pretty gentle jasmine vibe! I’m personally not always a fan of jasmine scents, but I don’t mind this one. Very springy and right. Super mild sandlewood and citrus in here too.

I've become more accustomed to florals recently. This is very nice and airy, almost sunny to me. Like a wall of flowers near the seaside somewhere.

A bright, almost salty lemony floral. Unique and beachy. Definitely not a junior fragrance but I don't think it reads as too mature either.

It has been 24 hours since I sprayed on my arm and it is still going strong. To my nose, it is 50% from initial spray. In the beginning, frangipani was star attraction, with solar notes and lemon not too far behind. A day later, lemon has bowed out of the stage and solar notes is competing for star billing with frangipani. The floral note is too screechy here for me - no sweetness, no apology for its boldness - almost blinding me towards a headache. This is a bold, strong perfume for someone who wants a statement and unafraid to announce their presence or leave their mark after they have left the room. Beautifully, boldly floral but not for me and has satisfied my curiousity. One spray on me: Sillage: more than arm's length and a trail Longevity: more than 24 hours and half-an-arm's length Rating: 1/5

I recently purchased the travel spray duo with Frangipani Flower, Beach Blossom, & WS&SS. I’d say this is my least favorite out of the bunch, but it’s still a nice fragrance. Photorealistic flower and solar notes, I even detect something green. not full bottle worthy, but this summer, I will enjoy the 30ml I have!

Not really a huge fan of these kinds of fragrances, I prefer sweeter scents. Overall, to me it smelt like a lemon with a hint of flowers (not sure which one). After awhile the strong lemon kinda went down. Smells like a warm sunny summer day to me, and lemonade lol.

Just pure Frangipani spritzed with generic lemon juice. Fresh and sweet, but nothing special , really...it doesn’t worth the price

I am such a huge fragrance collector and I really want to love Jo Malone but...it's love at first sight then the reality sits in quite abruptly. This particular fragrance does not quite capture the frangipani flower much at all. I get the hint of jasmine along with a lemon, but that is where it ends. I started off buying quite a bit from this house and now I have 11 un-used bottles of which every single cologne does not project at all. Does not last even an hour and fails to capture the notes in its description. I am thankful I only purchased 30 ml of this one because I was let down yet again. Sorry Jo...but it's time we get a divorce. After a well deserved separation you have let me down the first time I gave you another chance. Good bye...

My heightened senses make floral-forward perfumes a challenge. Often, they sting my nose as if I've overdosed on decongestants. It's usually floral perfumes with strong aldehydes like this one. It still shocks me when I see glowing reviews, and after all these years, I'm still unable to adapt. Sadly, I can't discern a lemon note or distinguish between the separate florals. I love ylang-ylang and jasmine in different circumstances. The fragrance softens over time, but it never changes into something I would wear. I'm jealous that I'm not feeling the love that so many others are.

The initial spray is very astringent. The citrussy solar floral is very reminiscent of a bathroom spray rather than an effortless hot weather cologne. It's got a disinfectant aldehydic quality that makes me feel like a sparking tile floor, when I wanted to smell like a sparkling seashell. It gets better as it dries, but the bathroom-cleaner accord gives me the same kind of headache you get after bleaching your bathtub. :(

on my skin this smells a lot like sunscreen. it is pretty and a mature floral up close, but the sillage is just sunscreen. as it dries, I get a scent that leans towards candle and burned wick. I think that this could be a comforting scent on a mature lady.

Jo Malone Frangipani is mostly what it purports to be: a frangipani (Plumeria)-dominant, white floral scent, ....but it also has been unfortunately been both muddied and sharpened with salicylates used to suggest sunscreen. These are usually referred to euphemistically as 'solar' notes, and the idea is that instead of just smelling beautiful flowers, the wearer can now imagine their own oiled and tanning skin from their last vacation at beach or poolside. I should add that such sunscreen scents may smell different on skin, rather than blotter or fabric. It seems everytime I smell these solar/salicylate accords in perfume now, I enjoy them less and less. Here is a comparison between this fragrance and three thematically note-related scents I have on hand. Firstly, let's compare with pure frangipani essential oil, a deeply rich and purely floral scent. A heady dream. A true soliflore perfume based on frangipani would be a white floral delight straight from the blossom. Why gild the lily, or frangipani. Secondly, Solar Power by Phlur, This is a lemon-citrus and salicylate cologne with the florality much reduced. Frankly I like this better. If one must smell sunscreen, at least don't make it compete with the scent of flowers. Thirdly, Shahd by Lattafa. This is another frangipani-white floral, supposedly with some kind of solar notes. However, in this case the scent is much more roundly and sweetly floral with less of the tart creaminess one associates with salicylates. Three possibilities for this might be: 1) A shifted balance with more flower, less solar, 2) Completely different formulation for the solar accord, and/or 3) Vanilla and amber in the base is improving the sweetness and balance of the entire composition.

I think plumeria is a difficult floral to faithfully recreate, and with Frangipani Flower, Jo Malone gets quite close, although I wouldn’t say they’ve exactly cracked the code on this uniquely heady, alluring bloom. Together with the jasmine, it almost reads more as a magnolia scent to my nose, which is one of my favorite smells in the world so I can’t really complain about that. The benzoin and sandalwood give the effect of the florals being dabbed with sunscreen but it’s strangely quite nice. The citrus notes are not very identifiable individually to my nose but I do think they contribute to the “solar” quality and warmth of this fragrance. I love white and yellow florals. I don’t know exactly what I’m searching for in my dream floral for summer. This isn’t quite it—I would like something to brighten it up a little—but it’s a good one to have in the bullpen. A good option for scenarios where strong sillage isn’t ideal like an airplane or something.

Back in the late 80s/early 90s, there was a frangipani oil that was sold in the hippie stores and bookshops and we all used to wear it. It was pink. Anyone remember? I positively doused myself in it, my mom, too. Frangipani Flower opens with that smell! Round, bright, powerful plumeria with the right hints of sweetness. Super nostalgic. Takes me right back be being a tween. Like many other JMs, after a few minutes it settles into less than a skin scent. Less than a body spray. It gets greener, sharper and more realistic, actually. Because most flowers and flowering bushes don’t smell perfectly floral, you get leaves and stems and indoles and pollen. Performance of this cologne is bad. Bad bad. I live for the opening and die by the performance after 2 minutes. Not worth a full bottle. Nicely done and worth a few sniffs.

This scent smells nothing at all like frangipani -- trust me. Not at all. Frangipani (plumeria) is such a difficult scent to get right and this JM fragrance fails to capture it in any way. Having said that, it does have a light and refreshing jasmine scent with a soft lemon twist in there as well. The jasmine scent is quite nice and warm without being heavy or cloying -- but this warm jasmine scent does not last. An hour tops, I'd say. And the fresh burst of the scent lasts only a few minutes. Underneath it all is a lingering generic cool-blue synthetic smell common to a lot of fragrances out today. I tried it hoping for a good hit of frangipani, but it just didn't happen.There's nothing distinctive about this scent in the end and I wouldn't buy it. Sigh ....

I used to wear frangipani during the hot Summers of my youth (one of the original flower children) & loved its spicy & exotic floral note. Since the scent (a distillation mixed with I know not) I wore back then in the 60s-70s disappeared, I have been unable to find a frangipani scent that brings back that nostalgic scent I found so sunny & ebullient. I hope this will fit my bill & am planning to try it. I just hope the sillage & lasting ability is far improved over the usual Jo Malone offerings. Other tried & true frangipani recommendations will be appreciated.

So, User Notes indicate that this is Very Long Lasting and the sillage is enormous. Really??? My experience with Jo Malone over these many years has never led me to believe anything from this house would last more than 1 hour, if that. I have given up and not purchased anything in a very long time from them. I'm intrigued, however, and just might get myself a sample from Luckyscent. We'll see how long this lasts!

A very white floral daytime spring scent. Can easily see myself wearing this to a nice brunch or to the office. The sister of JM’s Peony & Suede sans the leather. I get a load of front loaded jasmine whilst frangipani and ylang ylang hang in the background. Sandalwood is barely there but mercifully grounds it from being a more uptight, churchy scent.

This comes in a new bottle- but I don’t know if it’s been reformulated. This is my experience with a sample. Smells like high end cosmetics. I don’t love the obtrusive fragipani/ylang ylang. There is a deftly done suntan-lotion undercurrent that gives this a relaxed summer energy I do enjoy. This could be someone’s daytime summer scent, but not mine.

Just picked up a travel size bottle at Sephora ~wow, what a great summer fragrance! I’m picky regarding how I smell & what I like & was very pleasantly surprised how lovely this is. I may purchase a full bottle once I finish this one. I’d love a EDP, lotion or better yet, a dry oil in this. Fingers crossed.

This is gorgeous! I want a full bottle. Sigh....It makes me crave a tropical yoga retreat in Bali. I could just imagine myself lying in shavasana in some gorgeous, posh yoga studio in the jungle and a gentle breeze blows bringing with it the scent of frangipani and jasmine....I wish I were there!

Very beachy. Floral, almost soapy but not quite, a bit salty even. Not bad but not my cup of tea. If I want something beachy I would rather it be less salty and more creamy coconut. I don't mind sunscreen scents but this just doesn't quite hit the creamy sweetness enough for my preferences.

The opening is very floral with hint of lemon and jasmine peeking through. The jasmine is very lovely and not headache inducing. I don’t think i have smelled anything similar and i am very happy with this blind buy! Goes very well with Nectarine Blossom and Honey!

Beautiful ylang-ylang scent - warm, clean white floral that smells like a small garden in a rich person's yard in Cape Cod. The lemon note is a perfect addition. Definitely recommend this one to try for those who like sharper white florals.

I loved this scent until I realized it reminded me of Ex Nihilo Fleur Narcotique. Would definitely have added to my collection if I did not have Fleur Narcotique already. This a lovely fresh floral scent.

I'm mad for frangipanis. On first spray, this does smell about 65% like real frangipanis, but then it's all downhill. Within 15 minutes it turns into a room freshener scent named "Sunny Spring Meadows".

Explicit copy-paste of Armani "Sun Di Gioia" launched 3 years earlier (better performance and less expensive). Without a doubt or ambiguity. Jo Malone is shameless.

Nice easy to wear frangipani with a suntan lotion smell similar to Beach Walk. But I think for the amount of synthetics used it's a little overpriced.

Sinus clearing once you spray it on. Your throat might start to itch. Cool and dry, nothing warm, nothing juicy. Airy.

Wow this is a musky creamy delicious scent! similar to Zara Tuberose or Pink Flambee, but this one is more citric

Nice scent, but the price is unacceptable given the non-existing projection and longevity.

It smells like the Nuxe body sprays. The smell is however not strong.

Is this discontinued? Can't find it anywhere in Scandinavia.
