Gardenia & Oud Absolu

So I just received my bottle of this fragrance. It is absolutely glorious! I can relate to the gardenia because it reminds me so much of the Tahitian gardenia called Tiaré. This sweet smelling scent will give you compliments. It's a summertime freshie to wear. The dry down is subtle and eases in with gardenia. When I first sprayed it, I could smell the white flowers turn into gardenia. Having the oud allows this scent to linger on my skin. I don't smell amber as much but to me it comes and goes. There is an animalic quality to it though. This is definitely great for men because it doesn't smell like a feminine scent. Women can wear this as well. It falls between both genders and recharges when you perspire. Overall, this scent is heavenly.

This fragrance is glorious. I personally LOVE oud and gardenia, so this mix is a wonderful fusion of the both. The combination of the both of these forms a sweet, royal, all around beautiful wear, suitable for any occasion. The sad thing about this is the price point. I would personally love to own this, but the price is outrageous. If you like sophisticated Oud/ Gardenia scents, get this.

I’m obsessed! Always looking for gardenia notes that capture the flower without being cloying. The oud elevates the flower notes to something exotic and enticing. I spray this on and melt into the smell. My husband loves it on me and he hates everything! Lol.

what a lovely, gorgeous, wealthy smell!. The agarwood and the musk gives you a decent, masculine kick!. This is the best perfume for men who loves a white flowery scent but doesn't want to smell too feminine.

This is a very rich, lush heavy fragrance. I get equal parts gardenia and oud. Gardenia is a heady flower and JML does it justice by combining it with something equally strong as oud. Not for the shy...

This is absolutely gorgeous! I sprayed this on at the Dillard’s counter and was reminded of Aaron Terence Hughes Gardenia Blanc. Not too heavy but just right.

To my nose, this smells like a true gardenia. Where's the oud? I got none, but I'm ok with that. Oud is, well, OUD, like the loud middle child. It hogs all the attention (no offense to middle children). So I'm glad it's not present here because gardenia is much too delicate to stand up to it, and I do love gardenias... My biggest gripe with Jo Malone fragrances as a whole is their poor longevity. The absolu collection is slightly improved, but still a high price tag given this performance. Regular JM's stay on me for about 30 minutes. This one stuck around for a couple of hours. Otherwise, it really is very, very pretty.

Got this one just to complete my JML Cologne Absolu collection. Just one spray and I was totally blasted with gardenia scent and probably nothing else. Nice but will probably have to find time to really sit down and try to analyze this beauty to find the other notes. I really love the other ones in the collection so much that this one so far is a bit of a let down. Layers very beautifully with Rose & White Musk

I was looking for a JM’s vintage gardenia turns out it’s been discontinued. The sales showed me this and I can smell the floral gradenia-ish scent at first. It lasts way way way longer than any other JM’s perfume. BUT after an hour or so, it became very strong and smells almost exactly like MFK Baccarat. I agree with @jacmac and @1968voronkov

It is extremely similar to Tulipe Noire by Atkinsons, which I had, so I did not purchase it (although I really like it)

I get a very floral, more fem leaning when first sprayed the first hour or so, but then I think it turns more masculine. Very gender neutral IMO, more so than the Rose and White Musk in this line. Gardenia and Oud lasts *forever* and has great sillage. Adore...

For this price, I would strongly suggest you to try Blue Musk from Dolce & Gabbana which smells similar to this but has has something in it that is just superbly magnetic. This Jo Malone Gardenia and Oud just has a smidge of oud in this and I don't think the transitions are impressive either.

This is loud, screechy, and smells like hairspray. Nothing floral or nuanced here. If you didn't tell me it was a gardenia scent I wouldn't even be able to pick it out. Even hours later, it's still sharp and screechy, so it's a nope for me.

Really good for the first 1.5 hours - though it happened hundred times before. After that it becomes metallic-musky hell ... unless you love this genre Big PASS - no matter what price is (but it's just insane !!!)

This, to me, smelt more like jasmine than it did gardenia for the first 20 or so minutes. Then I got quite a faint burnt bukhoor smell... it wasn’t a strong oud. I didn’t get much amber. The musk in the base with the sort of woody leftovers which should be “oud” left a kinda dusty nuance. I thought I’d like this but I didn’t. Extremely floral, particularly jasmine forward on my skin. Terrifically tame oud if any... I didn’t get any resinous qualities or any sweetness from amber, perhaps more powdery than anything. Musky white floral heaviness stays persistent into the dry down with a dusty/ashy/burnt bukhoor in the background. Not lactonic whatsoever on my skin. Quite feminine. I’m disappointed with this, I thought it would be a unique oud but it all just made me feel a bit nauseous

Very light, pretty and sweet. Only gentle gardenia nothing else, no sharpness, just sweet and gently creamy. I don't get any musk or oud, not a bad thing. Longevity and silage really weak but very pretty as a bedtime scent. This was a present I definitely wouldn't buy this for myself as just not worth the money. It is gorgeous but I have much better performing gardenias and it's too expensive to use as a handbag top up spritzer.

Sprayed this In Dillards today & wore it around, OMG. I never knew how good Gardenia would smell w/ Oud! I get Neroli too. I will Update once my Full size gets here, but I could NOT stop smelling myself. I have Many Jo Malones, with OB being my favorite. I think this one just stepped in front of that one for me. STUNNING!

Such a Gorgeous Gardenia and Oud blend perfectly well together, a very mild Oud mixed with a strong Gardenia i instantly fall in love with the scent. Was wondering why didn't this fragrance gets more popular than the rest of Joe Malone? Such underrated perfume.

The idea is lovely, unfortunately on me this is mainly that synthetic wood note that is in all men's fragrances currently. There is a fresh gardenia note peaking through but it is not enough to make this interesting.

Upon my first time trying this fragrance, I was immediately hit with a jasmine green tea boba smell. Feminine leaning for me, especially on skin. I don't think I'd buy this. Linear white flower on dry down for me.

I have not smelled this but if its long lasting its about time that JoMalone did something w/some uphffff...the line's weakness in general is the lack of longevity and intensity of its formulations.

As a huge fan of rose and Oud combos I was not sure how this would work but it’s incredible! I get equal amounts of gardenia and Oud and it’s very rich and exotic. A winner for me!

Spicy gardenia... It's green fresh gardenia with spicy ambrette that simple.. Beautiful indeed.

A soft white floral oudy fragrance, leaning masculine. Nothing outstanding sbout it.

this is the only oud i can bear (?) . this is perfume with class! absolutely unisex

This is an AMAZING blend of Gardenia & Oud. Not medicinal AT ALL. JM did it again!
