Golden Needle Tea

I wore it today and after an hour or two, I felt like I am smelling something slightly sour and acidic. I layered it with Pomegranate Noir and was just fine. I love it the first time I wore it. Not sure what happened. Skin chemistry again, I guess. I had to edit my review because after wearing it a couple more times, I believe that this is one of the best Jo Malone scents that I have.

If Jo Malone made an eau de parfum version of this, I’d buy a bottle in a heartbeat because the longevity of this fragrance is poor. Absolutely gorgeous woody scent with a hint of smoky tea. I agree with the comment saying that this has similarities to BR 540 but this is a bit brighter and has a lovely suede note.

I agree with Calvini's assessment. This is my favorite from the JM Rare Teas collection and I was lucky to receive a small sample from a friend. I'm trying it out today and while I like it, it's not FB-worthy for me. The first impression was a strong blast reminiscent of patchouli, but it dried down very quickly (a matter of a minute or two) to a very nice soft, spicy woody scent. The dry down reminds me in some ways of the Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540 I sampled yesterday. But where one spray of the MFK lasted me the better part of the day, the six sprays of JM Golden Needle Tea have all but disappeared, and I'm not even a half hour in. I really wanted to love this and would spring for a full bottle if the projection and longevity weren't so poor. Really nice scent but just doesn't last on me.

Golden needle tea might be favorite rendition from rare tea collection. This is Sandalwood fragrance with lying spice undertone, I think the leather accord here is not from leather note but from french labdanum instead. It is also revoke the Earl Grey tea as well which surprising as their is no bergamot in note, but spicy undertone reminds me much for dry bergatmot, I can remember the scent back when I was intern in Tea room. Scent : 8/10 Classfication : unisex (the scent is charming woody with mild spicy property, pleasing for both gender)

When I first sprayed it, it had became my instant favorite of the collection, but then 10 minutes in, while others had opened up more, this one seemed to be fading instead; then suddenly, it wasn't so interesting anymore after just half an hr...

Hmm.. an interesting collection of 'tea' theme frags from Jo Malone. I have tried them all as I used to work for the company for many years and this particular collection was one of the least popular ever launched. The sales staff always found it difficult to sell this range to customers despite the beautiful presentation and packaging, and there are far nicer frags in the JM collection for way less cost. It was as though a frag creator at head office decided one day 'let's do an experiment to prove how dumb some consumers can be, let's make a range of tea flavoured scents, sell them at crazy prices just to prove people think a big name and extortionate price is always reflective of quality, ha ha!' so they concocted this extremely mediocre range of tea inspired scents, most of which make the wearer smell like they're wearing musty clothes stored in old, wooden trunks! No wonder JM had to heavily discount the stock to get rid of it. The product quality at JM has generally gone downhill since Jo sold her company to Estee Lauder, now it's all about reformulating using much cheaper ingredients; many long time customers have abandoned the brand as they have noticed the difference in quality, and know there are better quality products out there offering much better value.

This is so lovely. It's a light-touch, diaphanous thing, for all that it starts with a smoky leather. It's a transparent, gauzy wisp of clean woods and leather, with a hint of apricot buried within, truly reminiscent of the tea it's recalling. No harsh edges - it's smooth and well blended, and just feels classy. It's genuinely beautiful and I wish I could recommend it wholeheartedly. If the scent were a little more robust or the price cheaper, I likely could. Unfortunately, as others have said before me, the longevity and the 'presence' of the scent just isn't there. I'd love to be gifted this... but I wouldn't buy it.

Instead of making 100 perfumes that are mostly weak and forgettable, how about making ten perfumes that are fantastic and worth the “niche “ price? There is nothing special about this and like many other JM scents , it is not lasting . It seems these days the better perfumes are literally the bargain perfumes .

Jo Malone Golden Needle tea is a beautiful exotic spicy mixture that has leathery undertones.
