London Rain Rain & Angelica

It's not every day that the Jo Malone counter gets a visit from me when I am at the store/ mall. When Rain and Angelica came out together with the other limited fragrances, however, the counter saw me quite more often than your favorite dim sum place. I fell in love too late with this fragrance as all the store ran out the moment I realized I wanted to take it home. Rain and Angelica does remind you of the peaceful smell of falling rain and the sweetness of angels (or something like babies, like angels...). It's unique and soft, but not mushy corny and yeah-it's-something-I-already-have-at-home kind of sweetness. It has that Jo Malone twist...but it lasts longer than their other scents. Luckily, I bagged my Rain and Angelica bottle from Nordstrom online. Awesome ! I love this fragrance. It is longer-lasting, very pleasant, sweet, and slightly addicting.

This is my favorite of the London Rain set...This one I must have! It starts out very watery with a touch of lime, Then the angelica becomes more prominent, like standing along a riverbank lined with angelica, cool and minty refreshing, and herbal, gets powdery. It's an angelica lover's dream! Sweet angelica blowing in the breeze...Like the soft billowy clouds rolling by on a lazy summer afternoon

I just picked this up at Neiman Marcus and it is really fresh and warm at the same time. Sorry I can't give very creative description, but I am glad I bought it and dry down is even better than the opening.

Beautiful perfume. Perfect for day wear. When layered with l'agent provocateur, it becomes mysterious and deep enough for evening wear. Rain Angelica brings the freshness to the combo!!!

Rain & Angelica really surprised me. Not only is it a hated aquatic, but it's significantly different to the kinds of scents I usually like. It opens with a tart, yet juicy lime note, that is instantly summery and fresh. The 'rain' note is strong almost immediately, cooling this scent and moving it away from a summer sun mojito vibe. It is like lime infused rain water, which is somehow delightful. It is not long however before the heart note of angelica comes forward and takes centre stage. This is where it gets tricky, as I think if you don't like angelica you probably won't like this at all. Angelica to me is very herbal, but can also be a tad bit cloying - I feel its familial relation to anise. It's what ultimately put me off the beautiful L'eau d'Hiver by Frederic Malle, as with the sweet purple flowers the angelica became sickly. But here with the bracingly fresh water and lime the angelica works much better for me. This stage dominates the scent, the lime eventually fading out, but the water accord remaining. Finally the earthy vetiver at the base makes itself known and it is at this stage, with the green bite of the angelica and the rain water note, that it really smells like a city after rainfall. You step out with your umbrella ready just in case and are hit by the scent of wet concrete, a slight waft of the dripping shrubbery and a hint of the damp soil. Definitely unisex, this scent surely isn't for everybody, but is well worth a try. To me this was the only one of the collection which really struck me as a 'rain' scent. Also, another surprise, this one just stays and stays on me, at least 8 hours. I assumed it would be gone in two, but no. I'll have my bottle a long time. Another gem from the wonderful Christine Nagel.

The bottle is gorgeous, deep ocean blue ombre. A watery mirror to the juice inside. Really special. I know it is all about the contents, but I just wanted to share that the bottle we see on the printed page is bright blue ombre and simply doesn't do justice to the actual color of the bottle. I love the counterplay amoung the lime to the vetiver to the watery notes and back again. It reminds me of drops of rain hitting the stones along my wildflower garden and the angelica is sprinkled over the top. This is not my usual fragrance and it wasn't my favorite at first. I gave it time and kept returning to it as it is unique and comforting. You almost want to curl up with a good book and listen to the rain with this one. SUprised me that it lasted about 5 hours and I didn't have to bury my nose in my wrist to smell it. I feel this collection has a painterly edge to it compared to the usual offerings and these are the first I have been interested in since the dessert group with the orange/chocolate one. I want to explore the grey cedar one next. For the price they are definitely a thoughtful consideration. I really wish there wasn't such a disparity in their prices on their regular scents...$115 for 3.4 oz and $60 for an oz. is too much for what it is in my book. 1.7 for $65 would seem a bit more reasonable. Also as lovely as they are, if you are going to charge those prices, I want the fragrance to last the workday, just me. I will enjoy this for a few Springs to come, I believe.

The first Jo Malone that I've tried that I like and can see myself wearing-usually whenever I've tried any of hers there has been a sort of sour, almost rancid note and they tend to smell off somehow-maybe I have odd body chemistry? But this one is definitely wearable. Initially this is slightly sweet but fresh because of the tart citrus lime. Then it settles down to a warm summery musk-very gentle and slightly herbal or grassy. It definitely brings to mind an English spring day-a brisk rain shower in the morning, clean and refreshing, and then the earth warming up as the sun comes out. Its like lying by the river bank and smelling the fresh water and the river reeds-there's no floral note at all. I liked it-probably not enough for a whole bottle, but if you're a fan of crisp natural and simple scents you'll like this.

Definitely the crowd pleaser of the London Rain group. It's very fresh. It reminds me of laundry being done in the kitchen with the back door open after a morning rain in Essex. I know that smell. It's not soapy--- it's clean and refreshing. Not edgy enough for me, but I bought it for my Mother who loves it.

I did not originally like this in the bottle. The scent seemed strong, chemical-like, and harsh. Then I took a chance and tried it on my skin. The harshness immediately mellowed, turning to crisp tart lime and fresh water. This has the potential to be a favorite summer scent.

I was so excited to try this and wanted so much to fall in love with it. After all, at $125 for a cologne, it must be love! Unfortunately, it was disappointing in the long run. I loved the initial blast of angelica. I love that grass-like scent. It always reminds me of rain and wet earth. At the end of the day, however, the dry down is unpleasant on my skin. I can't explain it but it's a heavy kind of scent. This is the second fragrance of Jo Malone that had this kind of finish on me. The other is Vanilla and Anise. I think heaviness for that frag is ok because I wear that in cold weather. With this one though, I just could not have it. It had to be light all the way or it defeats the purpose.

To me this is very much a 'wear with a crisp white shirt' scent on a fresh London day. Something both beautiful and a bit unsettling about it. Its fresh but there is somthing aquatic to it that hits you. The only other aquatics I am used to are the Issey Miyake ones and this is totally different. Much colder.. much more like rain as opposed to holiday sea water!!

this is exactly like raining day,it's very clean very fresh it will make you happy and it will adjust your mood,you can't go wrong with this one , it deserve a try from you and by the way it's limited edition,in the jo malone shop in our country ,i took the last piece and they are saying no more. 8/10

Seems adorable scent! I love watery notes and coming from a Jon Malone brand I think will be an amazing added to my perfume's collection. So exciting! ;)

A rather earthy, herbal cologne that might work well in hot climate (definitely not in cold and wet Scotland where I'm based). Strongly unisex.

This one seems as if it's the best out of its category! I can not wait to try it! I would love to buy a sample if anyone has one.

How I wish this would come back.
