Midnight Musk & Amber

Please discard my pervious review on March 21, 2033 as I venture more fragrance below review is in correct; please read new note on Jul 24, 2023 instead. ==== (A32, X'mas 2022 Limited Edition) Midnight Musk & Amber is very amber prominent fragrance on my skin. The opening is silent, just semi-sweetness from amber, mild musky. This truly need time to develop, and the amber here is very rich and deep. The are middle note that quite unpleasant (like it still developing). But when it go deeper to base note. This is the best Musk / Amber I ever wear. And with this, I finally know how Amber is smell as an experience. Clean & sensual, probably keep for personal use only. Longevity is 8 hours Projection is Moderate, closer to the skin rate now 10/10 Bejeweled - Taylor Swift

Surprisingly good silage from Jo Malone. This is a sweet sourish scent lean on the powdery side. Normally I would have problem with musks but not white and, seemingly, black musk. Wonder why. Anyway its a wonderful surprise. Love this. Liken to Amber Musk in that it’s more of an ambient scent than a direct smelling scent, MM&A is more on the sourish side and less sweet. Do understand that both are light perfumes, they are not the “in your face” type so don’t expect them to stand out. Silage on this on, like I said, is surprisingly good. Someone on the other side of the room might notice some light sweet sourish scent but not know the source. Nothing will point out to you and say, here’s the source as, like I said, it’s in the ambient.

Oh I love this on my skin! I sprayed it on (almost as a joke) when I received it as a sample with another purchase from jo malone, expecting it to just be a basic 80s amber musk scent and boy was I wrong! This is so nice! I have Aerin amber musk and I find that one more linear, less sweet, more dense, quite boring and forgettable to be honest. This one has the most magical sweet undertone, the amber is light and whimsical almost honeyed in nature, the musk blended to perfection, just a touch powdery. Over time it becomes more resinous and warm. It comes across more feminine to me, very sensual, delicate, clean, a perfect winter ice queen scent. I love that this is a winter release! I would wear this day or night. Love!

I have a lot of JM scents and I didn’t need this but after trying it I had to have it. It started out with the first notes reminding me of an old Guerlain scent, a little grandmotherly, but then it just bloomed into an Amber and musk mix that just blended so nicely. Still there was something that remains that’s old school but the 3 musk blend really carries the scent. I got very little botanical juniper. Unlike most JM this has both longevity and sillage and little or no fruit/floral. Really. It lasts for hours on my skin and radiates. This is like JM wanted to get rid of all the rif raf and finally make a Chanel worthy scent.

Ok, this one is weird. First of all, it smells utterly divine on a test strip. On my skin, it doesn't smell like any of the notes listed. In fact, if you told me this was a black currant, candied petals and black pepper mix, I'd buy that those were the notes. Seriously turns candy-sweet with candied ripe fruit on me. Were it a color, it'd purple, satiny plum-purple.

Absolutely floored by how gorgeous this is. Glossier You who? I would describe Midnight Musk and Amber as a big warm hug on a cold night. There is a really well blended tuberose undertone even though I don't see it in the notes. A sweet woodiness comes through at times, and I get whiffs as it changes with my chemistry. A must buy for me!

Got this in 2020 and was obsessed. Just got a new, sample bottle as they re-release it, and it smells like Jo Malone has changed the ingredients somehow. It's still a lovely scent, but I'm less excited about it now. It's dropped from a 5/5 to a 4/5

It’s really good I fell in love at first sniff, it doesn’t smell like anything I have tried before and believe me my nose has been through 1000s I love it, appropriate for fall without being too strong.

I love this one so much I’ve been looking for a good musk fragrance that some what mimics 90s men’s musk cologne but is not as intrusive and more expensive/elegant smelling and this is it!

This scent is my perfect comfort scent. To my nose this is a fluffy hug from a freshly washed blankey. This sum it up like my little sister says, it’s just lovely and that it is!

Just discovered this in their holiday mini set... It's gorgeous! Easy grab. Definitely full bottle worthy. I hope they relaunch it at some point. 🤩

Wow this is really nice. It's like if you removed the patchouli from angel. I like it a lot. Fresh and sweet.

Jo Malone usually gets a bad rep when it comes to longevity but surprisingly this one really sticks, anytime I wear it it usually lasts even after I’ve taken a shower. It’s definitely not suited for hot weather, it takes on a subtle undertone of saliva when I’ve worn it out during the summer. Besides that I’d say it’s one of the best winter fragrances I own.

Love it!!! Fizzy sparkling sour opening with juniper, a good balance between amber and musk. It’s powdery with a slight sweetness. Suitable for all seasons, day and night. The more I use it, the more it reminds me of Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel (mostly the opening). Both have this powdery sour fizzy feeling to them. Lasting is 6/10.

An easy wear - its a light, complimentary smell. I'd recommend getting a musk and/or amber perfume oil to help it stick. I got this in the holiday pack 2023 and it's probably the highest quality of the bunch. But not so impressive to be worth frequent reapplication or purchase at Jo Malone's price point.

Sweet powdery musk with slight sour note which is likely the juniper. This thing is strong, very good sillage and longevity just from one spray, unlike the normal Jo Malone range. More than one spray is borderline suffocating to me, very happy with the performance.

This is a really good scent. At first sniff I thought it had Jasmine but it wasn't Jasmine, smells more like Jade Rose then follows the mixed semi sweet smell of Amber and Musk. Very warm, feminine and not offensive to the nose.

Smooth amber and some musk in the background. As it settles it becomes powdery yet sweet. Great fragrance for cooler weather. Also has pretty good lasting power and projection for JM.

A nice pleasant scent that suits intimate holidays season during the Covid time.

The name is misleading and doesn't reflect the scent at all IMO. I get zero amber and nothing about this would make it appropriate for nighttime use. This is an aromatic musk through and through, beginning to end. I don't even feel it suits the season...seems better suited for the springtime. I'd say it's unisex, leaning masculine. I highly recommend sampling first!

At first spray I was not a fan. It comes on very much like a drugstore men's shower gel to me. But then it calms down and is neither offensive nor inexpensive smelling. It's sweet, barely any musk-at least at first and quite pleasant. I agree with others the Jo Malone just doesn't have the staying power. I am tempted to re-apply every 2-3 hours.

This is pure men perfume. Quite sophisticated, but for men, no doubt. Be careful if you order online.,

Smells like a toilet air freshener. Cool, sweet, sharp, synthetic. The scent is attention-grabbing, but doesn't make you want to lean in closer, which is what you want from a musky fragrance.

Ooft this is horrible. I really hate it. I sprayed it on 20 mins ago, and as soon as I get to work I will scrub it off. It’s cloying in the same way as Joop. I am NOT enjoying this at all.

For almost a decade I was 'so-so' in response Jo Malone fragrances. Their regular line-up rarely entices me, however, their limited editions and Christmas releases smell much more inspired and interesting. Midnight Musk & Amber is the latest 2020 Christmas release, only available as a 100ml cologne. I really enjoy Midnight Musk & Amber and I detest the fact that it is a limited edition. It's a cosy, aromatic amber with juniper and rich musk accords. Midnight Musk & Amber is perfectly unisex and despite the eau de cologne strength, it lasts extremely well on my skin. Supposedly, this limited release smells very similar to Amber Musk by Aerin Lauder, (as I haven't had the opportunity to sample the latter I can't comment on the similarities just yet). The race is on to secure a bottle before all stock runs out. Here's hoping my local department store has plenty left of Midnight Musk & Amber. Late December is Summer where I live, and admittedly Midnight Musk & Amber is best suited to the cooler seasons. For a 'White Christmas', this limited edition is absolutely perfect. Midnight Musk & Amber wears like one of Jo Malone's 'Intense Colognes' and I can personally vouch for the stellar sillage and longevity. I have fallen for this fragrance's warmth and sensuality, and it still surprises me that Jo Malone has created such an alluring stand-alone fragrance without pushing the layering concept. Highly recommended.

This is absolutely beautiful!! Very nostalgic of the 1920s Jazz era and Bright Young Things. Read The Great Gatsby while wearing Midnight Musk & Amber and you’ll really feel the spirit of this perfume. It’s unique! Sweet amber and salty musk with a touch of juniper. Perfect for the Christmas season❤️

This is very very nice! a semi sweet fluffy amber that reminds me of the musk and amber in Absolutely irresistible by Givenchy and the very very late drydown amber base of Alien. Love it. I need a full bottle. My husband said it smells "too strong" I guess that is good for being a Jo Malone!

the first 10 minutes it is really similar to Lauder's Amber Musk but then it turns into a rather masculine, yet very warm and elegant smell which is much more lasting than most of Jo Malone's colognes.

BEAUTIFUL SCENT. its like this deep mysterious sexy cool smell. musky and ambery with a hint of tree smell. I will say though this is more masculine but idgaf im a women and im wearing it this winter.

Gorgeous. This one performs on my skin, really clean, and musky. I can wear it on any occasion, any weather, day and night.

Old school and powdery. Not a fan.
