Myrrh & Tonka Cologne Intense

I'm not entirely sure if I should just chuck this review onto the original Myrrh&Tonka page, but my sample says "cologne intense", so I'm assuming this is what I have (someone said they're the same thing). I actually intended to order the standard version, but this is a happy accident! 😍 I can't see how this isn't the intense, because this has positively muscular performance. I think I expect a certain sour earthiness with myrhh, because the essential oil is that way. I'm happy that this isn't extremely dominated by it, because I feel that myrrh requires help from other aromas to help it, it's definitely not a note that I would want to wear on it's own, or without some softening (that's just my taste). This has enough sweetness to really mellow it out, but it really remains quite powerful nonetheless. Projection and longevity are both laudable. It's one you wake up with in the morning. Actually, it's potent enough to really warrant underspraying, it can become a little choking. It has a warm fuzziness, but also an exotic tone. I really thought there was cardamom in here, but apparently not. It's really *rich* both in texture, and in style. And yet...there's a cleanness about it all, something I can't pinpoint. Maybe it really is simply a facet of the myrrh. It's really beautiful, and I think slightly feminine...but ultimately unisex (I always say that it doesn't matter anyway). The tonka is dense, but not at all cloying. I cannot express enough how much the bottle matches scent to me, because this smells like what one would wear on a dry, cold winter's night in the middle/near east. 🌠

I just want to start off by saying that I do not like earthy or woody scents. I cannot stand patchouli! So, when I discover a woody scent that I actually like, I feel compelled to speak up. Having said that, I received this perfume as a sample. On first spray, it was strong and potent. I immediately thought it was a masculine scent. It reminded me of Jazz Club by Replica. It smelled of tobacco and burning leaves. After the dry down, it turned somewhat sweet. Almost like cloves or nutmeg. This scent soon became comforting, like a morning cup of coffee on a cold winter's day. There's just a hint of sweetness to this perfume that makes it uplifting and mood elevating. That's got to be the tonka bean. However, the sweet part of it doesn't last long. After a couple of hours, it's just woody. So, I decided to layer my Boardwalk Delight over it. Now, it really smells delicious. Light fire roasted marshmallows. I've also layered my Billie Eilish with it and the Boardwalk Delight. The combination of all three gives off a Smores scent that I've truly been enjoying on these cooler days. After all that being said, if you're not a fan of woody or earthy scents alone, try adding your favorite sweet perfume with it. You might be surprised, I certainly was. I would not recommend purchasing this as a blind buy if you're not into earthy notes, unless you can return it for a full refund.

This is sexy as fuck. Upon first spray, the myrrh and the sharpness of lavender are most prominent, but it quickly becomes a tonka centric gourmand with yummy almond facets. The cola-y ness of the myrrh remains but is far less noticeable at that point; though some earthiness stays present. It’s sweet, intoxicating and different, definitely unisex but I think it would be gorgeous on a man. I must say that it is pretty tame for a perfume named « cologne intense », but it’s still great and worth a try ;) Might get a mini for myself ! Would layer beautifully with Café Cabanel.

There's a strong smokiness to this at first which mellows out over time to bring out warm vanilla with hints of spice and almond. It's just strong enough to be personal but if someone is near you they'll pick up on it. I honestly can't get enough and have been spraying it in the evening for the cozy, relaxed feeling it brings. Interestingly, it's also the first unisex fragrance I've had that doesn't have a strong lean in one direction or another.

This scent is beautiful and very polarizing. I first got a sample and asked for the 50ml for Christmas a few years ago but havent worn it too many times– the first few times I wore it my family didnt love it as its just so so strong, a little goes a very long way. Thus my favorite way to use it is as a clothes/sheet spray in the winter. Its a great lofty spritz on a cashmere sweater and doesnt project as much when its not sprayed on skin. When I wear it on clothes it also lasts a very long time and jsut gives me that cozy vibe I want. I'll say the almond note does both me sometimes as someone that doesnt love almond smell naturally, theres also a strange hint of lavender that I pick up that I dont think is mentioned in any copy but adds a certain medicinal quality. Really lovely winter scent but not a safe blind buy.

I would hardly call this Intense. It wears off of me fairly quickly-I have applied it twice today and probably need to apply it a third time. It comes on strong at first, rapidly becoming sweeter and more powdery. It's quite nice and I don't think it has much sillage so I'm not afraid of using up my tiny bottle by applying all day long. I like a powerhouse fragrance which is how this seems to me if only for a fleeting couple of hours.

The myrrh is beautiful in this and so is the tonka. Whenever a vanilla scent actually works I get so surprised because I tend to hate vanilla when it’s central in scents. Very comforting and definitely a night scent. Dark and lovely.

Nothing intense about it. Disappointingly mild scent. 1-hour tops. A decent masculine offering from Jo Malone, 6/10.

This is what a real man should smell like to me. Doesn't matter what style that man has, he just has to be manly as fk. This is not a scent for punk dudes at the club, not for papi lords or loser player type guys. Instead, think of a hot cowboy, rich CEO, handsome hitman, intelligent engineer or a classic abolengo. There is a note in here that lingers quietly in the background that makes this scent more masculine than unisex and it reminds me slightly of carmex. A man can be wearing an expensive suit or vintage jeans and he will still wear carmex; classic.

Smells great at first. But as it dries down, it has a synthetic note that bothers me. A note that can be found in many cheaper fragrances. Maybe synthetic lavender. My nose don't lie. I don't trust you Estee Lauder. At first, I thought Jo Malone was a smaller, niche, natural company. Then, I found out Estee Lauder owns them. Need I say anymore? Mass produced fragrances are hardly natural. Or only partially natural I should say. Ah ha! I just figured it out! It has the same exact underlying scent as mens Versace Eros!

This is such a fresh but yumi scent. Its hard to describe it but when my husBand described it he said it smells like as if your stepping into the barbershop which made me laugh because it does smell like it. So funny. Id give it 9/10 and yes its unisex

Not a scent for me. The lavendar takes over, and that's all I can smell. I don't get any myrrh or tonka from this. I'm 53, and this is too mature for me. VERY masculine.

Hi Smellsbells, A JM SA told me today that it's the same juice as the OG but in a special blue bottle to commemorate Eid. Hope that helps.

no diff then the regular one to my nose- i get the barbershop think from the talc smell -they powder your neck and put the cape on
