Oolong Tea

I want to tell everybody here a story that might be useful: 3 weeks ago i ordered a 75ml bottle online from the company that had imported them to Greece and because they have been withdrawn from the shops their price had been reduced by 70%. When it arrived it smelled exceptionally heavy, magnificent, just as i had remembered.On the same evening, i found on their site a heavy discount / offer on the 175ml bottle, for just 5€ more! So the next morning i called them to ask if i could swap, they said yes, 5 days later the new bottle arrived Unluckily, the 175ml bottle doesn"t smell the same, it seems toned down, diluted, alcoholic, fleeting.I have used it 4 days in a row and now i can see why so many people were disappointed, and why Jo Malone decided to withdraw them from the market.

I received a partial of Oolong Tea in a swap. I really enjoy it and am perplexed as to why Jo Malone discontinued this. This is super comforting and the honey is really divine; not animalic one bit. Sweet but not cloying, simple but not boring, refined but not overly pretentious. Great to wear during the fall or spring, even winter. She is very smooth, I feel like I'm dripping in the most luxurious honey concoction while wearing her. Longevity may be lacking, so I can see why it may not be worth the higher discontinued price tag. If you can somehow get this stuff at a decent price I'd highly recommend.

I love tea scents so I blind bought this perfume from Jo Malone website during the holidays. It projects well for first hour then is a skin scent for about 5 hours. On my skin it smells like sweetened tea with hint of chocolate. Love it and highly recommend it!

I have mixed feelings about Jo Malone's limited editions. On the one hand, I think they tend to take this concept a little far: by the time I sample something of theirs that I like, it's invariably discontinued, which is frustrating in any case, and all the more so if even while it is still available, the prices are as inflated as they are with this one. On the other hand, some of these scents are really very good, enough to make me forgive their precarious availability. Oolong Tea might fall into that category: like others have mentioned, it might not smell specifically like actual oolong tea, but it's really delicious nevertheless, and the combination of notes does make for a rather effective evocation of warm, fragrant, sweetened black tea in general. I usually avoid anything with tobacco in it, but it's the mellow kind that I don't mind here, and it goes together very well with the sweet hay, tonka and honey: it's a rich, borderline gourmand sort of fragrance, the grown-up kind that succeeds in finding the right balance between indulgence and elegance. So I'm very impressed, and think I could grow to love this one. The only downsides are the decidedly sub-par longevity and the exorbitant price - and combined, they're kind of a dealbreaker. Still, if an opportunity to acquire a decant ever presents itself, I don't think I'll be able to resist...

This is a very sweet gourmand fragrance; although it's tea infused, I don't smell much oolong.. The sweetness is not defined; the cocoa-honey-tonka trinity is in equilibrium and shines alongside damp hay and sweet tobacco (I eat dark chocolate and raw honey sometimes so I don't perceive them as particularly strong here, especially not more than tonka). It could be sexier, smokier, and more tea, but still stands on its own as a semi-unique gourmand.

unfortunately i can't sniff out the oolong, it just smells like grandma to me... way too floral as well, reminiscent of jasmin et cigarette by etat libre.

I love tea scents and sadly this brought me nothing. It was so light. so faint. and what I could smell lasted less than 10 minutes. I read that the Jo Malone Tea scents were discontinued. I understand why.

As a tea drinker, I was disappointed that this scent did not evoke oolong tea in any way. Pass.

Hmm.. am interesting collection of 'tea' theme frags from Jo Malone. I have tried them all as I used to work for the company for many years and this particular collection was one of the least popular ever launched. The sales staff always found it difficult to sell this range to customers despite the beautiful presentation and packaging, and there are far nicer frags in the JM collection for way less cost. It was as though a frag creator at head office decided one day 'let's do an experiment to prove how dumb some consumers can be, let's make a range of tea flavoured scents, sell them at crazy prices just to prove people think a big name and extortionate price is always reflective of quality, ha ha!' so they concocted this extremely mediocre range of tea inspired scents, most of which make the wearer smell like they're wearing musty clothes stored in old, wooden trunks! No wonder JM had to heavily discount the stock to get rid of it. The product quality at JM has generally gone downhill since Jo sold her company to Estee Lauder, now it's all about reformulating using much cheaper ingredients; many long time customers have abandoned the brand as they have noticed the difference in quality, and know there are better quality products out there offering much better value.

A27 (Feb 2017 batch, USD 135 for 75 ml.) Oolong tea is an Amber fragrance, the honey is come from Ambery sweetness which is the main theme since the start. Hay is introduced to the scene as semi-dry green hay. Not truly brown - dry like vetiver. I do also notice mildly fresh tone. In the opening. Cocoa pod snd Tobacco needs time to develop, The tobacco is not dominant, it is provide warm ambient. Cocoa is there to provide body. I have hard time pick cocoa unless looks at ingredient list. From that, development stop. This is lighter scent for Autumn/Winter wear. August-September should be ideal, Happy scent after all. Longevity : 6 hours on skin 8/10 ===== Update 1 on May 1, 2023 I layered this with Jo Malone, Vetiver and Golden Vanilla and it smells truly Devine. It compliments each other so well and make it more complex, full body. The Cocoa is much more prominent in Cocoa powder manner. Along with Smoke Vetiver + Smoke Tobacco. While Hey in Oolong connects seamlessly with Vetiver in Vetiver & Golden Vanilla. While Vanilla in both coordinately melted, provide strong backbone for scent to linger. Can I call "Smoke Cocoa"? If you have both, please try. This is another level. I feel this is huge success after I tried a few combination together from house of JML. 10/10

Nice honey scent with a touch of cocao and tobacco, I do not get any tea vibes from this. Does not last long on skin and most certainly does not warrant the price tag. This isn't anything new and can get similar fragrances for a fraction of the price

Sweet, but honey is not animalic here! Green, but it's dry green, not freshly cut grass, but the dried one. Tonka - yes, cacao and tobacco here are not too noticable, probably they just add some spice to it. It's nice, but nothing I'd reach out.

I can get little bit tea on the beginning but scent is very wak close to skin definitely not worth 350€ Dry down is typical vanila and some synthetic molecule Wholw range is qiute synthetic and too expensive
