My mom died Monday afternoon. I took off work Tuesday and didn't know what to do with myself...so I went perfume shopping/sniffing just for the comfort of it. I ended up talking with the salesman at the Jo Malone counter for at least 20 minutes. He gave me samples of probably 8-9 perfumes and some grapefruit-scented cream (more like body butter, very creamy). He said that it's best to put some lotion or cream on your skin before spraying with perfume. If skin is hydrated, the perfume has something to adhere to and will last longer. If your skin is just dry, the perfume will evaporate and disappear more quickly. (I hadn't known this, so I'm sharing...) That evening, at bedtime, I put on some of the grapefruit cream and sprayed the pomegranate noir over it. I made myself a cup of tea and got in bed to read before sleep. I loved the scent -- there's a hint of something cinnamony, a little like those scented branches they sell during the holidays, but more delicate, and blended with a fruity, clear pomegranate note. I sprayed a bit of the grapefruit scent over the pomegranate and it added a nice spark of citrus - it smelled clean and spicy and very pleasant, and put me in mind of of past holidays with my mom. That, and a flannel nightie, and tea with milk, made me feel comforted and cozy.

So Binky was excited to show me her new fragrance she purchased this weekend at the department store today. She knows I’m a fan of white florals so wanted to impress me with something a little different... Pomegranate? Really Binky? Luckily I know what JM can do with Bergamot & Oud so I didn’t go in too uninterested. First impression was bright, fizzy, colorful reds (cranberries, raspberries, holly berries...) I suppose this is the illusion of pomegranate. Whatever the case, it burst into exactly what it came to be. Not long after, came the noir. The shade. The coolness of night to tame that bright effervescent introduction meant more for a room entrance than a conversation starter... none the less, it sparkled like the twinkling diamonds of the night sky. Very clever, JM, your use of these fruity materials as aldehydic compounds to punch the deeper base notes through. Binky and I laid down to watch a couple indie flicks on the couch and feel asleep. When I woke, I kept getting faint whiffs of her new purchase that were more pleasant than her TF white suede, or Gucci Flora. This was something deeper and more complex, dare I say, something I’d even sneak into finding a wear on a nice dinner with friends on a cool spring evening. 😉 Bravo 👏

Spicy Cloves, Honeyed Purple Fruits, Dry Woods Smells like drinking hot mulled wine from a hug mug by candlelight, next to the Christmas tree, while reading a cozy mystery, as you catch glimpses of the first snow of the year through the window. This is coziness and wintertime hygge in a bottle. It makes me want to drink a hot toddy and snuggle under a blanket or meet friends for sweet brandy old fashioneds at a chalet style supper club in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. I am a the type of person who hibernates in winter and pursues a life of coziness during the long harsh Wisconsin winters, and while this scent feels like a warm, comforting hug in frozen world, it is equally sexy and mysterious in the right setting. This is the scent to complete a bordeaux colored cashmere dress worn with chocolate brown heeled boots on your way to meet your friends at a jazz bar for cocktails. Love this! Only wish it was not a cologne concentration and came in an eau de parfum. Oil Perfumery's dupe is pretty good and projects and lasts longer for those wishing this scent came at a lower price and with better performance or if you want to layer it with the cologne to extend the life and sillage of it.

Has been a game changer and a new signature scent - went to a boutique and spent probably an hour and a half trying to find the right scent for me with a staff member there, happy to say it really was the right scent for me. First of all, it's very strong - definitely woody and musky, the base notes go on for hours and hours. Smells a bit metallic as well, like slightly rustic. If you were imagining it to be a sweet and fruity scent, I can tell you it is not. The only sweetness I can think of is perhaps the metallic notes itself. Can say it is a very warm scent - I often layer this with a dark pepper scent or a sweet floral scent, got A LOT of compliments due to this perfume. Smells almost like an op-shop or a library (which both things I love) so it is a stable in my collection!! It is a bit pricy though, all the dupes I have tried are just not it though.

I’m barking directly at it. I love this fragrance so much! It’s my new holiday (Nov-Jan) signature. I would describe it as spicy. Definitely more spicy/incense-like than fruity (as the name might imply), but still clean. Not a trace of “dirty” musk to be found. To me, it smells exactly how deep red velvet looks. It’s sexy, but mysterious. I feel attractive & confident rather than seductive. It’s like it’s more for me to enjoy than anyone else, but I could definitely see it being a bedroom scent. Easily unisex, too. Yes, like most other Jo Malone colognes, it *is* linear but I am okay with that on this one. It smells pleasant from top to bottom and lasts a surprisingly long time on me. I will be getting a full bottle when I run out of the trial 9ml.

I really enjoy this and debate whether I want to repurchase. It does ride the line between Christmas candle and perfume, nonetheless it’s really pretty and relaxing. I mainly get watermelon and sweet pomegranate that’s mulled over with spices and a very prominent eucalyptus smell in the opening. Dries down to a soft sweetness, woods and incense/resins mainly supported by well blended barely there florals (thank god), with the fruits and medicinal properties of eucalyptus and clove supporting in the background. Comforting and invigorating in many ways. I definitely can agree with the apothecary comments and would recommend testing this out before blind buying a full bottle.

There's a nice tartness (thanks to the rhubarb as well as the pomegranate notes) in Pomegranate Noir that makes it stand out a bit more than other non-citrus fruit fragrances. It's rich and deep, and the florals bring out something very nice in this--as does the guiac wood, which is used (thankfully) only minimally. Like most Jo Malone fragrances it's quite linear unless you layer it with something else. I found this layers beautifully with Wood Sage & Sea Salt from the same house, and you could probably layer it with many others; the downside of this is that Jo Malone fragrances are not inexpensive, this all becomes a bit of an investment after a while.

Sorry but Jo Malone really needs to work on their longevity. This smells friggin' lush to me, however only for an hour or two. Don't get me wrong I can still smell it very VERY faintly for 8ish hours but its just not strong enough and for the price I don't want to be reapplying all day long. This is the problem with all JM's for me personally and its such a shame because in actual fact the range of scents they offer are most up my street and what i want to be smelling like but I am unwilling to pay that much for something known to have shite longevity. I am shocked at the votes here, wasn't expecting any to say 'enormous sillage' lol.

I find this to be quite a unique scent, especially among the rest of the JM line. Despite all the fruit notes it’s not really sweet at all - it’s a spicy, slightly woody, autumn/winter nighttime scent. I think other reviewers calling it ‘muddled fruits’ or ‘stewed fruits’ is spot on. It definitely reminds me of a northern hemisphere Christmas; the fruits and spices make it a bit reminiscent of fruit pudding. Although that sounds a bit odd, it is in fact a really nice scent and I don’t think there’s many on the market like it. As with all JM scents, the sillage isn’t massive, but the longevity is decent for me.

This is my baby. And I gatekeep it whenever asked what I’m wearing (which is all the time; men, women, and otherwise, old/young). It smells incredibly sexy and boozy, it’s truly intoxicating. The first time I wore it, I just said “Yeah!” out loud. The fruit combination is irresistible, their profiles are so similar and they complement each other incredibly well. PN definitely has a masculine lean so I embrace it by layering with my lovely Mahogany Teakwood body cream from Bath and Body Works. Wore that combo on a date and almost got eaten alive! I swear by it. Love love love this fragrance!!!

The best from this house by a mile, IMHP. It’s a perfect holiday scent but I wear it through late fall and winter. It’s fruity, spicy, and a tad bit musky... but’s good clean musk. Amber and Patchouli sing on my skin as base notes and yet, the underlying sweetness persists through 90% of the dry down. As with most JM Frags, I do have to spray on the heavy side to get it to project. But when layered on top of an unscented moisturizer, this goes about 8 to 10 hours. Longevity and projection are much better than most JM Frags. I get compliments every time I wear this. Easy 9/10

This one is extremely underrated. A stunning unisex scent that's sweet and juicy, a little tart, woody, and a little incense-y/spicy. The candle in this scent is great as well and actually what introduced me to the EDC. Can't get enough of this. People say this is a "holiday" scent but I really don't think it's that holiday-y (maybe just a little bit only because of the cloves). Definitely more suitable for fall and winter though. This fragrance plays with the juxtaposition of opposites: Bright yet dark, warm yet cold. It's one of those fragrances that is hard to describe.

I will forever and always have a bottle of this in my possession. It was also loved by my beloved late aunt, who was a headteacher and had all the confidence and authority which goes along with it. It’s spicy, a bit balsamic, full of dark red fruits. I cannot get enough of it. Surprisingly for Jo Malone, it lasts a fair amount of time (on me 4+ hours) and the sillage is decent. This is the only Jo Malone I’ll wear. This is my Power Perfume. I wear it when I need a boost of confidence or self-assurance: I spritz myself liberally, channel my Aunt Irene, and I smash it.

I used to be one of those people who were scared of any fragrance that smelt dry, any fragrance with any spice. Fast forward three years of trying everything and anything and I really love this now. I got a free 30ml bottle from Jo Malone (they do Instagram targeted account giveaways, so worth following them) and this is just a stunner for the winter. It's a cosy night in by the fireside, darkly fruity, with Christmas spices and with a slight touch of smoke, sat relaxing after walking through dry leaves in a forest. Long lasting and underrated.

Pomegranate Noir has quickly grown on me. Devoid of any sweetness and gender, it exudes an aura of confidence, elegance and maturity. The overall character of this fragrance is dry, bitter, and mostly camphoraceous in the drydown. Around 30 minutes after spraying, a fruity tartness is clearly recognizable, but it is not able to take the fragrance into a fruity territory. Even though an acquired taste, I am not surprised that Pomegranate Noir is still on the market because once you are hooked, it is difficult to forget about it.

I live for scents like this where I am not expecting much but then I get very much. I am also a sucker for unusual-smelling fragrances, and this does just that. It's winter in South Africa, and I am enjoying this very much. I bagged a lot of compliments at the office; some of my colleagues even went as far as asking me what I was wearing. It projected for a good 2 hours max and then radiated at arm's length for the rest of the day. When I got home, I could still get whiffs of it from time to time.

What a cool thing! Soooo stylish It has intense realistic cloves, tart pomegranate, medical alchemical churchy mysterious mixture and clean clothes. Can't tell anything about the development, but it starts very sexy, punky and bold I asked for a decant in the first place because i am in my incense/ labdanum phase, and this has something similar in it, even though it's not in the pyramid. Wooah I'm curious to wear it for a couple of days and maybe consider a bottle

I dont understand the negative reviews. I loved this fragrance, kindof reminds me of intense cafe typa rose, it doesnt have rose though but im saying it’s reminiscent of that in a way, Though I DEFINITELY prefer this one, tons. This silage and longevity is amazing, I sprayed one spray before coming out of the frag-store and it totally overshadowed the other frags that I had sprayed on my other hand. You can feel the scent around you for hours.

Juicy pomegranate and woods. Some gentle spices. I don't find it overwhelmingly spicy. It's not as christmasy to me as it is to some reviewers. I do think it's a great fall/winter choice but I find it light enough that you could wear it most of the year. I love it. I'm just a big fan of this kind of fruity, woodsy, spicy fragrance. It's longer lasting than a lot of Jo Malones, though still not hugely long lasting on my skin.

I've already re-bought this twice, and I think I'll always need to have it in my collection. It's perfect for cold climate: I crave it in the fall and winter. The scent is really, really pleasant, I get mostly carnation and spices and something juicy, but in the most elegant way. I get nauseous with most modern scents, but never with Pomegranate Noir. It has a kind of aromatherapy feel to it, uplifting and festive.

Nostalgic and comforting scent that feels like a warm blanket on a cold winter night. The composition is complex with many contrasting notes that makes it perfect for layering with other JM. I got bright and invigorating when pairing with Blackberry & Bay, but aromatic, spicy and warm with Pear & Sweet Pea. Serious silage and longevity. I wear it to bed and could smell it on my skin and clothes the next morning.

I do have my bottle since 2017 is nine years so far. When I first sniff it was shocking, I thought it was something releated to horse , male. But after some wears I got it. Is so incredible. It make me think of Christmas, good moments, comfy scent. I'm wearing today and I'm mesmerizing. It is in the same path of Barénia they are part of same classic family, elegant, chic and effortless interesting.

This has been my signature "going out" scent for years, and I always get lots of compliments when I wear it. It's sexy, mysterious, complex, and stands out in a crowd. It has powerul projection/sillage. I honestly have never been able to pinpoint most of the notes (despite wearing it so much), but just know I love how it sits on my skin. It's spicy with a bit of sweet and fruity.

I love this. My only issue with it is that it's gone in no time on my skin. I gravitate towards warm, spicy scents and this one is so nice. It's bright from the pomegranate yet spicy from the clove and warm from the woody, musky base notes. It checks all of my boxes except that it just doesn't last and the price doesn't match that if I have to keep re-applying every 3 hours.

Very,very unique.I remember one girl at work wearing this fragrance,everytime when I could smell it in the office I knew she is already at work.Silage is huge,longevity is unreal. It has some medicinal smell mixed with honey and cedar wood,that is the best way I can describe it. Never got single compliment on this one lol but I don't care .Will re-purchase as I love it.

this is my favorite Jo Malone of all time. its boozy and i think that really throws people off from what theyre expecting in the whole pomegranate name thing but its woodsy, spicy, boozy, greek myth type pomegranate wine. its endlessly nighttime and a great fall thru winter scent. truly in my top 3 and wear it anytime the mood strikes throughout the year.

I loved this smell, it was more like pomegranate incense on my skin, maybe even with some wax in there on the dry down. I don't exactly want to use the word spicy, but there is a sort of spice feeling. I loved it, perfect for a cold winter day. My only gripe is it didn't last as long as I thought it would, but the sillage/intensity was perfect for me.

This is the fragrance I have been looking for after many years - it smells just like a candle my old roommate gave to me in college. Such great memories here - although performance is sadly lacking as are most JM. Great scent but I will say I may enjoy it more as a candle! The pomegranate here is slightly warm and spicy - great scent to cuddle up by.

I absolutely love this perfume, perfect mix of spicy, sweet, and woody. Decent complexity so you can wear it alone, however it still pairs great with other perfumes. I find during the day it keeps me motivated and excited, and at night feeling more sensual. I would say this leans more masculine, but not by much.

This is probably my favourite Jo Malone fragrance of all time, it’s a contemporary classic for anytime of the day. So unique and alluring, maybe even seductive. This is an interesting little number! I predominently get a pine-y feel with a juicy fruit and really dirty ptchouli in the background! At times I sense a ”tiger-balsam” scent ( post- workout-menthol muscle balm) I am OBSESSED!... it is sort of ”magical Lord-of-the-Rings pine forrest”!

Weird one this but I love it and always have a bottle in my collection. There is nothing sophisticated about it, I get the Christmas vibe but to me it smells like Vimto with sage and onion stuffing at it’s heart.....is that gourmand or just a strange Jo Malone concoction 🤔

a perfect autumn/winter scent! the silage is strong and the scent is long-lasting. after reading other reviews, i do agree that it is a candle-type smell but i love it as a wearable fragrance anyway. i get mainly pomegranate, clove, and woody notes. very warming and cosy!

Sexy woody scent that has class to it. Has something addictive about it and give a smoky vibe in the back. I am very impressed with the performance actually despite all what we hear about Jo Malone. Very vesatile but leans a bit masculin IMO. I am enjoying it actually.

This is one of the richer Jo Malone scents, although still not offensive and not headache-inducing for me. It started out a little more floral than I hoped but dried down to a beautiful rich woody pomegranate and plum. I really enjoy this!

I just love this fragrance on me. There's something more than just fruity Pomegranate. The woody notes balance well with the fruity notes. I love putting in on a cold autumn day. Not as spicy and musky enough for winter.

This was my first Jo Malone perfume and I LOOOOVE IT. It’s so woody, a tad bit fruity, but most of all it feels like you’re in a crisp forest inside of a cabin and having the fire on, surrounding yourself with a blanket.

Spicy pomegranate and rhubarb. Fruity but not sweet, with plenty of spicy pepper and cloves. Complex, it is the opposite of 'cute'. This is what pumpkin spice wants to be when it grows up, more spice and less sweet.

It’s like long-lasting mulled cranberry cider, and I am here for it! Really interesting for layering. You can take it one direction with dry or resinous woods, one with amber, and another with florals such as rose.

Its a very nice fragrance, it definitely gives off the old money vibe. Although it doesn’t smell the most like pomegranate it is still an amazing scent. I do recommend this for date nights or any special occasion.

To me this is a masculine scent. Guaiac wood and clove are much more prominent than the fruity and floral notes. It is quite unique but versatile enough for every day. Handsome men scent and not generic at all.

So gorgeous. Not a very sweet pomegranate, it has more of a bitter bite to it that ultimately causes the scent to be more unisex in my opinion, and very sexy. Sensual, divine and fruity... I love this.

Love this one as a night scent. A true unisex perfume with strong notes of clove and pepper. For some it may be too masculine. Better longevity that some other Jo Malone perfumes like Orange blossom.

One of my favorites from the line. Opens with a very light fruit accord without the sweetness, and then morphs into the patchouli note which lasts quite a long time.

its soooo beautiful. The first spray smells like freshly peeled pomegranates, and a little bit like cloves. It gets more resin-y and green as it sat on my skin.

This is Persephone's pomegranate, especially contrasted with the flamboyance of Guerlain's Granada Salvia. It layers well with Nicolai's Incense Oud.

Very bright, the smell stays the same all the way down to the base. This is my dream fruit scent after fig scents. This is amazing for autumn.
