Rock The Ages Lily of the Valley & Ivy

I adore lily-of-the-valley but I don't love powder, so I'm always on the lookout for a LOTV scent that isn't powdery or too soapy. Lily of the Valley and Ivy is lovely! It is very green, which I like, with just enough citrus in the opening to give it zest (I don't really smell the black currant, mostly the grapefruit and even that is light). Of course, it has a strong lily of the valley heart, which persists for a long time. The musk base note is evident at the same time as the LOTV, which warms it up together with the amber. Here's the surprising part: I put this on before going to bed as I was going to read for a while and enjoy it. When I woke up eight hours later, I could still smell the musk and amber on my wrist, with a lingering note of greenness. Normally I think of Jo Malone fragrances as not lasting that long, especially a fresh floral like this one. What a pleasant way to be proven wrong! And this may be sacrilegious, but I like the dry down of Lily of the Valley and Ivy much more than I liked the dry down of the Diorissimo eau de parfum, which seems to have suffered from synthetic civet. On my skin, that turned slightly urinous after a few hours and I finally just washed it off. Luckily for me, I now have alternatives like this lovely Jo Malone. I'm also trying Diorissimo EDT and parfum, which I learned are based on the original formula though updated to meet modern IFRA requirements.

I would have never guessed that I love this , from the name judging ,,, yet I do and thinking of maybe getting it ,,, it's a sweet bright warm musky one. I couldn't believe it when I first smelled it. It's like musky and animaic ,,,so to say. As the words say it does start off floral and maybe a little citrus and a touch green but you smell the depth right of the bat ,,, musky amber , animaic comes through which makes it warm and interesting and a spots sniffer!! Sort of addictive ! Lasting power not as long as I would want it to be. I will test again to see before I decide to get it.

This is my favourite out of this new limited edition collection. I love green scents but this is also musky which I'm addicted to. I'm buying a back up bottle of this and hope one day Jo Malone releases 100ml bottle or makes it part of the permanent range. Very unique fragrance, there is nothing else I have tried like it and mixes well with Wild fig and cassis and Also another favourite of mine, wood sage and sea salt which also has musk notes... Great together! amazing!!!

This is definitely soapy yet the green and floral notes keep it from being boring. İ can see how some people found it similar to the elderflower of jo malone, and i wish it were a stronger similarity because elderflower is discontinued and it is almost impossible to find. Yet the longevity is a lot better than elderflower one which is nice but the ivy makes it more crisp. İ also found some relation to diptyque’s eau plurielle because of the greenness that comes from the ivy, and this one is much more inoffensive, as in eau plurielle it cuts the rose sharply but in this one it blends well with the LOTV. Safe blind buy imo.

I bought this hoping for a true lily of the valley, tinged with the freshness of ivy leaves. On me, this is a very powdery lotv scent. Nice, but I won't miss it when it is gone.
