Salty Amber Cologne

I knew I’d love this scent before I even smelt it... and I was right! It was love at first 'sniff'. Sea breeze, salty water, seaweeds (aromatic, marine aroma without the unpleasant 'rotten eggs'-part), driftwood (although it's not one of the notes) - that's what I get from Salty Amber. It smells like the warm skin after sea bathing and being in the sun. It's airy, fresh, salty, slightly sweet, warm and very sensual. And surprisingly the performance of this JM Cologne is very impressive; it lasts on my skin for 6h+ and maybe it's not a beast mode, but I get whiffs of it - especially while being outside. I'm so happy that I added Salty Amber to my collection and I only hope that maybe one day it becomes a part of Jo Malone's permanent collection, because it's SOOOO GOOD!

The patchouli here is very prominent , but I love it. On my skin the seaweed is very soft. Along is this is seawater , with very light cardamom spice . Something almost comes off minty giving it a cooling quality.This reminds me of a hot summer evening when the sun is beginning to set, location is in Ft Lauderdale FL, the sky is purple and pink and walking along the jetties with the water splashing upon the rocks and getting sprays of the water in your face. It’s super nice and aquatic evening scent . Unisex Wore this during my intense leg day workout and it still stuck around despite the humidity outside and all my sweating. It’s Florida approved . Too bad JM only sells 30 ml and it’s probably hard to find now .

Second review because things changed I used to love this. My bottle was close to half empty cause I wanted to save it for longer since it’s a limited edition. Then one day I ordered a sample of Zoologist Squid. I tried and had the worst migraine and nausea I ever got from a fragrance. After that I was never able to wear Salty Amber again. Anytime that I consider wearing it I give up after one little sniff at the atomizer. It reminds me too much of Squid and it’s almost like my body rejects it instantly. Sad! I’m keeping it around, maybe one day I’ll be able to wear it again.

I love the whole collection, and this one is the best. Beautiful, light, fresh but not boring. They should make it permanent, this is really good! It has a good longevity compared to other fragrances I own from JM, and projection is ok. I might get a backup bottle of this since is a limited edition and I can’t remember any other fragrance that smells close to this. I’ve been using it on hot days and it feels really refreshing and elegant

Salty Amber is a delicate light and fresh scent. The opening smells like eucalyptus to me, and it reminds me of cool water or a spa. I also get wintery vibes (like the first snowfall). Personally I think it leans masculine, but I will definitely be wearing it whenever I want to feel calm, clean and relaxed.

This fragrance always surprises me. Salty Amber is a joy to wear - I enjoy using it most during Autumn and Winter. So fresh, a fabulous scent for the outdoors with just the right amount of spice to warm me up. Fantastic longevity.

This is the best in this line.

I'm starting to realize that I am not a huge fan of JM fragrances in general for their simplistic and linear scent profiles. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but if I'm going to be spending money on perfume I personally like them a little complex. Regardless, I got this perfume for 2 reasons: 1) I love amber scents 2)I love marine scents. So it seemed like a no brainer for me to buy this. Got it off ebay for like $35 so it was a steal comparatively to what others seemed to pay when this fragrance collection was initially released. This is an OK fragrance in my opinion, but it kind of just takes the smell of a basic aquatic/marine scent and copies it over with adding the smoothness of amber. I understand that for a lot of people, this is a super great summer scent that really gives you the smell of the ocean and to some degree it does but it really doesn't do anything that many other aquatics haven't already done. I like it, it's ok, it's safe. If you want to try an aquatic scent that is 5% different than other aquatics? Do it. Also, I don't really know where people are getting this super longevity from. For me personally I get a good 4.5 hours of this thing max before I need to lather it on again. To me at least, this is VERY SIMILAR to "Wave Musk" by Mancera. If you want something similar to the vein of "aquatic with a warm/different base" try that one too. TLDR: It's ok! Basic, safe aquatic that has the slightest amount of variation to make it "different". Buy it if you want, but I wouldn't be scrambling for it.

It's a wonderful fragrance, but I just can't do the salt. As someone who consumes salted caramel ice-cream like its water, that salty kick is just too food-like for me. Perhaps it is just too much salt in this fragrance, but I can feel it in my throat the way I do when I smell salted caramel ice-cream. This obviously doesn't have the sweetness of that ice-cream, I'm more referring to the 'gourmand' element of the saltiness. It's just too overpowering, even 7 hours later on a test strip, for me to smell it more and try find the other notes.

Like spraying on a really good amber perfume, then smearing Vicks Vaporub over the top. Soild pass, couldn't find someone to take this off my hands.

I always love these spring/summer collections from JM because they’re more creative, slightly edgy, and there’s always a hidden jewel in the bunch. This year is no exception and this is a wonderful warm but fresh marine. Like many JM scents it isn’t strong but a wonderful skin scent for summer. It’s not Cool Water, it’s more like warm water (if that makes any sense) that’s fresh yet cozy, clean but not sterile.

I got to spray this at the store. Very spa like, relaxing. I am trying to cut down on purchases and enjoy what I have so I didn’t purchase right then. Well I purchased online.... because it really was a love at first sniff....LOL Now I’ll have to wait for delivery.

Nice fragrance, stays a very long time on my skin (even after contact with water), does remind me of a Spa or expensive suntan lotion (in the most positive way). Nice from time to time, but for me not for daily use.
