Scarlet Poppy Cologne Intense

I love layering Scarlet Poppy with Myrrh & Tonka. Together they build this rich, warm, dark‐floral cocoon that feels luxurious without being overwhelming. It adds dimension, warmth, and a little mystery. When I walk into a room, I don’t want my fragrance to enter before I do. Scarlet Poppy hits that perfect balance: rich, intense, and full of character, but never obnoxious or overpowering. It’s a scent that knows its worth and doesn’t need to shout.

I just got a sample of the current version of Scarlet poppy to compare to the older version in the red bottle with red lid. I don’t love the old version as there is something nose tingling in it that makes me think of white wine but the formulation that is available now?! Ahhhhmazing! It’s not as strong or long lasting as the old one but wow.... It is definitely different and to me smells like it’s been perfected! It’s just a better mix to my nose, more gourmand, easier to wear, a bit more layered. There is a fabulous tangy fruit in this that - although it lists fig - smells like a tart but sugary red cherry jam! In fact, I get a vivid Mr Kipling cherry Bakewell scent from this and I LOVE it! I’m going to have to treat myself to this one for Christmas despite it being rather expensive. It actually really reminds me of SJP Stash Unspoken as I find the level of sweetness and cosy, powdery tonka very similar indeed, almost translating as almond but Scarlet Poppy has that mouth watering red fruit scent mixed in, whereas Unspoken has a more citrusy fruit. If you are on a budget I think Stash unspoken might be a great alternative! This might be the first Jo Malone to enter my Collection!

Powdery, Sweet, Cute, Slightly Gourmand Reminiscent of an almond cookie as many below have said, I also find it has a bit of make up / lipstick accord in the background and the tonka adds the slightest spice reminiscent of a chai latte. Very cute and put together, inoffensive and wouldn’t bother anyone but still unique. Smells expensive, it gives me the visual of getting ready for bed after a wonderful steamy shower in a porcelain bathroom. With that being said I think it has a kinda cheeky bedroom undertone - kinda boudoir,, it’s a little bit sexy but still reserved. I really really love this one and honestly if you over spray it lasts quite well (around 6 - 8 hours for me - I spray all over my arms , back of neck, chest behind ears, clothes and maybe hair) with an intimate scent bubble that doesn’t project too loudly but is a nice hug. This pairs beautifully with any alike almond scent (rolling in love ect) and white florals ~ Early grey tea with sugar before bed and an almond biscuit, bed time princess, shy girl, quiet office siren, red lip stick, baby doll powder ~

I adore this. I don't know why I even smelled it at the store. There was nothing about it that jumped out at me and I'm not typically a big Jo Malone fan. There are some perfectly nice scents, but i haven't come across any that did it for me... till now. I am usually a gourmand fiend, but lately I have been on the hunt for a warm and cozy, but also clean scent for bedtime that isn't too overpowering. I think i found it. It's all of the things I was looking for. It's warm, soft, and has a slightly clean quality to it that i can't put my finger on. It's not a straight out of the shower or laundry sort of clean. There's a bit of a skin scent in there as well. It's a little sweet, but not overly so, and a tad dark and sexy. It doesn't smell like anything else i own or have tested. I think it's probably best for fall/winter and night wear, but that's not going to stop me from wearing it during the day or other seasons as it doesn't strike me as a fragrance that is so easily pigeonholed. I can't stop smelling myself. I might be in love.

Scarlet Poppy is an elegant, comfortable, warm fragrance with a perfectly balanced powdery almost cherry-like note. She smells very modern and expensive despite being powdery thanks to her borderline fruity and floral scent. Scarlet Poppy is graceful and affluent, but she does not overpower or show off as her presence is felt or rather smelt anyway. However, she also doesn't linger long and fades into a skin scent in 3-4 hours. The dry down smells like a tonka lotion on me. There's a tad bit of sweetness in the perfume but it's not cloying at all and rather adds warmth. Perfect scent for chilly, cloudy, dull weather. Scarlet Poppy is versatile enough to be layered and I can easily see myself layering her with Hermetica Figfever, Kayali Lovefest Burning Cherry, or Invite Only Amber to amp up the fruity notes. Unfortunately, I did not like the combo of Scarlet Poppy with Poppy & Barley.

There’s something so addictive about this fragrance. It’s warm, cozy, soft and kind of sexy and yet airy and fresh in an ever-so-slightly sweet way. I blind bought this bottle on an auction app in a fragrance show and what a score! I got it for little to nothing and now it’s easily a favorite. I know I’ll probably run through the bottle by the end of fall, so I may need a backup bottle on deck. I love this so much. It’s also kind of giving “skin scent” with a touch of spice. It smells like it could smell very individual on each person and I love that even more. Though I don’t think this projects loudly because of its softness, there is longevity here. It could be that I’m also going nose blind to the scent because of its skin-like quality. I love this one—definitely a go-to for all seasons—even in the hot Texas summer AT NIGHT ;) A quick favorite in my collection.

Beautiful perfume. I never smelled the red cap version, but I still sense the fig in this version, even though it is not in the notes. I feel like the new version does not have 3 notes only, but for some reason only 3 notes are declared.. Anyways, aromatic at the beginning, becomes fruity (fig) and creamy (tonka bean, not chocolatey though, just creamy and warm), remains very creamy until the end. Can't smell the poppy or the floral at all. Just the fig, ambrette, and tonka. At least on my skin. Maybe a little vanilla as well? not sure. One thing I don't understand is why people say this is not long lasting. I sprayed it this morning at 7:30, at 19:30 the perfume still radiated from my wrists. The silage is not strong, ok, but it can't be said that this is not long lasting. I would not say it is a beast perfume, but still. On clothes, it lasts for days and days.

This was one of my first perfumes, and it still stands as one of my all time favorites. It’s creamy, soft, and powdery, with the faintest touch of florals. The beauty of this scent is truly indescribable. The tonka and red poppy blend so seamlessly they create a warm, vanillic undertone that feels both comforting and refined. It’s gorgeous on its own but layers beautifully, especially with MFK’s Oud Satin Mood or Jo Malone’s Orange Bitters. It’s a timeless fragrance that works in every season, though I especially love pairing it with OB during the holidays—the sweet creaminess of this scent and the citrusy booziness of OB feel festive and cozy. The longevity and projection are outstanding. I can smell it on my clothes for days, and it always earns compliments. I honestly have no notes or critiques for this fragrance. It’s simply perfect.

Jo Malone London Scarlet Poppy Intense feels soft, calm, but still noticeable. It does not come across as a loud floral at first. To me, it feels more creamy, powdery, and gently sweet. This is not a perfume that screams, “I’m here.” But when someone walks past you, they may want to smell it again. I think it suits autumn, winter, and cool spring evenings the most. You can wear it during the day too, but for me, its best mood is a soft sweater, light makeup, clean hair, and a quiet evening reserved for yourself. When I wear this perfume, I don’t imagine myself in a crowded place. I feel like I am sitting in an elegant hotel lobby with dim lights, or at home by the window, drinking my coffee. It is not flashy, but it is definitely not cheap. Soft, feminine, a little romantic, and very comforting — like quiet luxury on the skin. 🤍

I got to try this scent as a sample and loved it immediately! It is very powdery and sweet especially for a Jo Malone scent. I have to say it doesn’t really develop into anything else overtime though, it is a straight up scent that is powdery a little floral and sweet. However I think the magic happens when it’s layered it with another one. A favorite of mine is “Poppy and Barley” and together it is a sweet floral heaven! I do have to say I have smelled this scent profile in other scents however such as “Pacifica Silver Moon” and “Dior Hypnotic Poison” (minus the play dough smell”. I would sample this first to see if this is worth it for you with the cost compared to the sort of scent profile it gives, I will continue to mix it alongside the other Jo Malone scents however!

Scarlet Poppy is so understated and elegant. It isn't incredibly unique or groundbreaking but it does the job extremely well. It's clean, feminine, cozy, effortless and softly seductive. Smells like an expensive lotion or candle, so warm and creamy and smooth. Tonka+ambrette=heaven. I agree with the other users mentioning bubble baths, steamy showers, getting ready for bed, etc. It definitely puts me in a candlelit mood which makes it a perfect fragrance for the dark gloomy winters. Somehow this smells like the future I envision for myself and makes me a bit nostalgic for my mother. I appreciate that the projection is intimate but sadly the longevity is also poor on me. I think this will be a bottle I go through rather quickly.

Smelled this in Duty Free last month and had to get it. I would summarize this scent as a elevated, sexy, warm floral. The Tonka Bean as a sweet comforting element, white the ambrette makes it addictive. The poppy is just enough floral and a nice change from the typical florals. I can see this also wearing sexy on a Man but I will be reaching for this every chance I get this fall and winter, especially in a setting I want to smell good but not like anyone else. Jo Malone's ability to make their scent have the sophistication and airiness is unmatched, the DNA is exquisite. I know they get a bad rep for not lasting, but personally, they last for8 hours on my clothes easily and on skin (skin scent by the 6 hours mark).

ETA: Lately I’m getting more of a fresh-baked bread note, which I adore. This smells like what I thought I would find with Jo Malone Poppy & Barley, FWIW. Original review: What a yummy gourmand! I think the “buttered popcorn” note that some mention is more a buttery caramel for me, here mixed with yummy vanilla and just a touch of musk. It’s a glorious “I want to eat you up” type of scent. Re: projection: My husband has a poor sense of smell and can’t usually smell my perfume. But about 10 minutes after I sprayed this on just one wrist, he walked into the room and said, “Wow, something smells great. Is that perfume?” So I’m calling that excellent projection. I want to bathe in this. 🥰

I was given a the sample of this for purchasing their Myrrh and Tonka bottle and I just couldn't put my finger as to where I smelled this before. I went home and sniffed each and every one of my perfumes and still couldn't figure it out until I went to Fragrantica and saw Victoria Secret's Velvet Petals on "This perfume reminds me of" section and I immediately went "OHHH" I used to have a bottle of VP and they smell almost exactly alike; except on me, Scarlet Poppy is deeper and lasts longer. I really like this scent, it's very creamy, nutty, and sweet. like a musky milky almond. It's definitely a beautiful cozy scent but it's not something new or unique.

Truly inspiring from Jo Malone. I got this as a birthday present after months and months of deliberating whether to get this or not. It has a rather strong floral opening but it then pleasantly settles down to something musky, powdery and ambery. I wouldn’t go as far as saying this is a versatile scent but I would avoid wearing it during hot and humid days which will potentially affect its performance. This is perfect day and night especially during the spring and autumn season but there is potential for this to perform well on cooler summer days. If one is into fragrance layering then this could pair well with Poppy & Barley.

The opening is just slightly floral, slightly sharp in the prettiest way, and it quickly warms into such a sweet, enveloping musk, tonka & vanilla marshmallow fragrance, without ever seeming too young or immature. Calming, cozy, a little bit addicting, even seductive? I'm getting more of a borderline gourmand almond cookie/chai vibe than the makeup powder some reviewers mention, although there is a lotiony softness I really love. Would be happy wearing this any day, any occasion, although I'm curious how it will hold up in summer heat; it's light enough that I don't think its sweetness would become cloying or overpowering

I love this so much! It’s powdery and creamy, a little floral and fruity, and just super comfortable. It has something that makes it feel fresh and easy to wear any time of year, from morning to night, but somehow it’s also sexy as hell. My only complaint is the same one I have with Jo Malone London in general: please improve the longevity! The scents are heavenly, but they just don’t last. This one’s not the worst in that department, but for the price, it should be better. The only reason I can look past it is because, for me, the scent and the vibe it gives (heaven and hell all at once) are a perfect 10/10!

This is a really different scent for me. I usually don't like things that lean gourmand at all. But I would almost consider this a barely-gourmand or a gourmand-for-beginners. I'm usually much more about fresh, non-sweet florals or tart fruit. BUT...I think having something like this in my collection is perfect, especially for cooler weather, though I think you could wear this year round. It is just SO comforting, soft and warm, and a little sweet - without being cloying. Poppies don't really have a fragrance I don't think...so I'm not sure what floral note is actually there. But it is lovely.

I'm not into clean scents, but Scarlet isa clean and skin scent, but very warm, cozy, little sweet from tonka and powdery, but not dry or lipstick powdery. For me it was a love from first sniff. It's more like a very high-quality lotion rather than perfume smell. I love, love SPCI. it's day perfume but works for evening outs in a cozy bar or girls' night out. I love myself more when I wear it, very feminine and calm. cannot say it's a seasonal perfume, can be signature scent but might be too sweet or cozy for summer days if you prefer lighter scents in summer. For me its all year-round smell.

Scarlet Poppy was a love at first sniff experience for me but I was really disheartened it disappeared on my skin in less then 10 minutes. I wanted to buy a bottle but after walking around a bit it was clearly not worth the purchase. Such a shame! ——— It’s been a couple hours and I’m not impressed with the dry down as it smells really similar to Navitus: The Embrace which has beast-mode strength / longevity plus I already own a bottle of it. Glad I didn’t buy a bottle on the spot.

It's my new love for Autumn. Although I usuall don't love powdery scents, I really enjoy this one. I visited 3 different days the Scarlet Poppy tester in the shop to try it on my skin. It was stunning each time! It's intrigueing, slightly deep, creamy, unique tonka-heaven! Now I have it, I am not so happy. It smells not the same as the tester. Maybe I have to wait until the scent matures a bit!? It's a new, just opened bottle. Does anyone have the same problem??

I had a sample of Scarlet Poppy for 2 years and didn’t care much for it until recently — now I’m absolutely in love. It’s one of my favorite scents for fall and winter: warm, slightly sweet, cozy, yet somehow clean for colder months. At first spray it feels powdery and a bit cosmetic, then it dries down into a creamy, sweet, warm scent that I love. On clothes it’s less sweet and more floral and clean. I enjoy wearing it both on skin and on clothes.

I tested this accidentally, because the name or the bottle are not what I am normally into. But little did I know that this is a beautiful cloud of creamy tonka, so warm and expensive smelling. I can’t find a single word that would describe this, it is elevated and unique. I personally don’t find Jo Malone colognes to be weak, some of them last 5-6 hours on my skin. I am a huge fan of this line and can’t wait to add this one to my collection.

Warm, creamy, nutty vanilla notes with hints of powdery florals and spice. I smell some sort of aged booze (like a cognac) from the initial application, but it fades away into a softer, flowery scent. A great complex fragrance for colder weather. Decent sillage. Lasts for a good while on skin. But my goodness does it cling onto your hair! I accidentally sprayed some in my hair and it lingered overnight.

Such a smooth and decadent perfume, reminded me of the richness of Swedish salted liquorice caramels. Bright poppy note turns rich and creamy with a swirl of sweet tonka and a hint of spicy ambrette. The notes are not complex but the composition is truly sophisticated. Projection and longevity are astounding for a JM perfume; I can still smell it after 6 hours of wear. My best buy of the season.

Fascinating. Extremely versatile. Unfortunately very fleeting. It’s barely noticeable after 10-15 minutes, but very beautiful. Projection almost inexistent. I will finish my decant and debate buying a full size bottle, as this is exactly what I imagine when I say “high quality perfume”, but I am begging for this to last longer :,)) Overall: 10/10 for the scent -infinity for the longevity

I bought this because it smells eerily similar to the Kerastase Curl Manifesto range and I need someone to back me up on this so I know I’m not insane. I love the creaminess and comfort of this. It’s not too complex or busy which really works to an advantage although I wish it had better longevity. It’s currently summer where I am but I can’t wait to wear it in winter.

I tried it yesterday on paper and on my wrist, it smells so goooooood! Every time I move my hands/arms I smell it. My hubby love it, smells gourmand but not too sweet, powdery, floral it’s beautiful and comforting definitely a holiday signature scent. It last on my wrist about 4hrs even after i wash my hands and wrist. Decided to buy a full bottle.

This is one of those ones that grew on me over time. It has a completely addicting Tonka base that just warms you up. It is a perfect sweet but non-gourmand fragrance. Very elegant. I tried the dupe from House of Twist but their Tonka is not as sweet or rich. So if you want a drier version, they do have that for a lesser price.

After a while it settles down and lasting power is medium, around 5-6 hours, but it's a beautiful, comforting scent that I absolutely adore. I think I'll definitely seek a bottle soon.

Obsession is an understatement. Walked into Joe Malone expecting a weak barely there perfume. But let me tell you, this smells like heaven in a bottle. It’s warm and just smalls like an hug, and smells expensive (it also is a bit expensive) defensively investing in a full size later and it’s now in my top 3 for sure!

I get red berries, vanilla-almond cream, and a sweet mallow sugar! It’s really nice without being cloying, and if I smelled this on someone I would have to fight every urge in my body to chase after them and beg to know what they were wearing. Devastatingly expensive though. I’ll have to find a good dupe

if i had to choose only one perfume to wear for the rest of my life this would be it! so elegant and sweet but not overpowering. this is literally so delicious on its own, it makes me want to eat my skin every time i wear it. i like layering it with other vanilla/creamy perfumes as well :o)

this perfume is wildly unique to me. it’s milky, powdery, and musky with a soft, cocooning sweetness. it literally smells like biscuits. not what i’d normally reach for especially because i’ve literally never liked a single jo malone perfume in my life, but i love this one so much.

If proposing to your soulmate in Montreal during the winter were a scent. My signature for years; always gets compliments. Doesn't last very long on me unfortunately, so I just use a few more spritzes. Love it endlessly and well worth the price in my opinion.

Smells like lipstick! It is very vanillic on me so it is more suitable for winter. Even though it is a soft fragrance, it is very refined and elegant like the other colognes that Jo Malone offers, and I recommend it if you like powdery elegant scents

so warm and sexy. something about it is so comforting while still being dark and sultry. velvety is accurate, i think. warm, sweet, and floral are the first descriptors that come to mind, but it also has subtle spiciness, powderiness, and fruitiness.

Very powdery, friend said it reminded her of a vanilla marshmallow, another said a vanilla candle. Great scent for day and also night, i mix it w jo malone orange blossom, and for some reason to me it smells like caramel? idk why

Everytime I smell my wrist, I roll my eyes. It is SOOO addictive! The addictiveness level of Scarlet Poppy is equal to Amouage Guidance to me. This is such a pretty scent. Do yourself a favor and experience it yourself!

This has a vanilla-almond scent. It has a floral note that I think is poppy. It’s a very feminine fragrance. If you like Tom Ford’s Lost Cherry, you might like this too. 9/10

Unique! Strong, sexy opening, gentle and soft dry down. Powdery and sweet/earthy done right.

I love this, so unique .... Can't get wrong with a nice ambrette scent
