Silver Birch & Lavender Cologne

Smells like a clean, put-together, relaxed person, rather than a straight perfume/cologne. Like soaped up skin, under a crisp white cotton button up and freshly washed line-dried dark denim jeans. Smells like the sky. A light breeze. Starts off extremely blue, and warms up a little with more citrus coming through as it settles. Most of the descriptions here seem to comment heavy on the masculinity of the scent, which I think is interesting and a little misleading— while I do agree that it’s more masculine than a warm vanilla perfume might be, it’s definitely more feminine than a classic cologne. The masculine and feminine notes are incredibly balanced, making it a perfectly unisex scent. Like a woman chopping wood or a man drinking from a teacup. Reading reviews before trying this myself, I was expecting 0 sweetness at all, but the very first thing I pulled out when smelling it the first time was a delicate fresh floral sweetness. I don’t think it’s PROMINENTLY sweet at all, but I think because I was expecting more masculinity, it jumped out as being a little unexpected (in a good way). I’ve never had the instincts to layer scents before trying this one — I feel like there are tons of scents this could pair with it to take it into different seasons — something with orange or yellow floral could bring it into summer, white floral or rain could bring it into spring, amber or wood could take it further to colder months... it’s a really versatile scent in this way. This isn’t to say that it feels incomplete on its own by any means. on its own it would work pretty much any day (less so summer to me, but still wouldn’t be confusing to wear in the heat— strange to me that the winter wearability rating here is as low as it is). Pleasantly airy and light, it could easily be an everyday subtle signature.

This is my second favourite perfume from the new lavenderland collection by jo Malone. My favourite is lavender & wisteria (probably 8.1) for smell but very close comes this silver birch & lavender (7.9). The smell is very pleasant. It has some similarities with other perfumes that yann vasnier has made for this brand. It shares fornexample the same vibe that the roasted OAK gives to the fragance in english OAK & hazelnut ir un the redcurrant one, or even the hemlock & bergamota. At the same time It has something common with other perfumes of yann vasnier like toy boy by moschino. The birch gives Also something yo the dry down which makes me think of aventus by creed (but without any fruity or sweet note) and the lavander gives to the mix some similarities with 154 also by jo Malone. In the background this perfume has some aniseed feeling very close to the vibe that you can find in the background of bronze wood and leather. Regarding to performance, this one has the BEST longevity and projection in the collection and It could be, probably, one of the fragances in the whole jo Malone collection with BEST performance. SB&L lasts for hours on skin and It is noticeable for one or two hours easyly. This is not a beast but i havent tied any JM London fragance which could be considered as a beast til the moment. Si probably if we take in count the whole fragance and not only the smell could be even better than W&L for myself. This perfume is for me totally unisex, probably even more masculine than femenino and very versatile, weareable at any time and for almost any occasion. Recommendable for lavender lovers ir the ones wwho likes the classical Green and fresh fougere scents. Scent: 8 Longevity: 8 Sillage: 6 Quality/price: 7 Versatility: 9 Originality: 6 Global: 8.5

My sister bought this for my mom for Christmas, and she wore it for the first time yesterday. She was at a Valentine's Day luncheon for seniors and says she got quite a lot of people asking about the scent. "Pity you weren't with me. I forgot what the perfume's called", she told me this morning. Needless to say, I've got it on me today. Like all of Jo Malone's work there is a clear definition of the fragrance in the name. I get quite a lot of lavender. The grapefruit doesn't last too long up top; it goes to lavender, birch and woods pretty rapidly. Interesting that Silver Birch & Lavender is likened to Dior Sauvage. I don't get that. Never been a fan of Sauvage because of the excessive use of black pepper and ambroxan. Those two notes killed off anything else the Dior had to offer for me. This Jo Malone is quite beautiful. A simple unisex lavender forward fragrance that stays linear throughout the wear. The only downside is performance. Lasts about 5 to 6 hours unfortunately, even though it projects fairly decently for about a third of that time.

This took me by such surprise and it might become one of my new faves. I usually hate the smell of lavender even tho I am a floral type of girl but I love the smell of woodsy cologne on a man and just in general. I would say this is unisex but leans a little more on the masc side depending on who you ask but imo the woodsy birch and lavender/citrus balance out really well. I had my roommate smell me to get her opinion and she went mmmm and made a face like she was abt to eat me and said I smell like a man but in a good way so I def think this could be a hit with ladies and I think thats part of the reason Im starting to love it bc of the masc tone from the birch but the fem tone from the lavender and grapefruit. This is def not for everybody and Jo Malone is known for not the best longevity bc its a cologne not parfum concentration but this stuff lasts on me nicely especially if I lotion before and lingers on my clothes to the next day.

Jo Malone goes blue. Sits between Luna Rossa Carbon and Sauvage EDT. Less loud than Sauvage, less clean and citrusy than LRC. Less pepper than either of them. Nice grapefruit off the top is distantly reminiscent of BDC. This means its "less masculine", but in the clean, sweet ambroxany genre of fragrances that this fits into, this isn't saying much. This is a "men's style" fragrance that anyone could wear, regardless of gender or occasion. Good performance, great versatility. I think people read "cologne" and are too quick to dismiss the longevity of this scent. I was impressed by its lasting power. I love this style, but I can see why some people would be disappointed that Jo Malone hopped on a tried and tested, derivative formula for their perfumery. But to me, it's unique enough to more than justify its existence.

So, this fragrance is like a mix of purple lavender and some masculine undertones from Sauvage, making it a perfect unisex scent, though leaning a bit more towards the masculine side. The first time I encountered this perfume was on the subway (I wasn't asleep, just had my eyes closed), and it felt like I was surrounded by a field of lavender with a massive tree right in the center. I just had to ask the person what perfume they were wearing. The blend of lavender and Sauvage notes is spot on. Personally, I think it suits others better than it does me. Definitely recommended!

Silver Birch & Lavender is one of the most versatile and masculine of Jo Malone scents, and it also has a decent longevity to it (which is rare for this brand). You could wear it on its own as a kind of leather barbershop fragrance, but it also pairs very well with most other Jo Malone fragrances (which is one of the best things about this brand--their scents really do mix and match). It will appreciably butch up some of their more feminine scents like Red Roses, or English Pear & Freesia. This is an indispensable spray for a man's fragrance wardrobe.

This is most certainly a unisex perfume in my opinion. I sprayed a sample on my hand and couldn't stop smelling it throughout the day.. fast forward to the next day and I immediately bought it. It's beautiful, I will admit that it's leaning towards a male fragrance (probably because my partner loves how I smell whenever I wear it) but it can definitely be layered with something lighter and floral. I enjoy this on colder days as it smells much fresher with the lavender note being the first thing you smell.

I am in love with the lavender birch combo since my aunt gifted me Boss Bottled Night back in 2011. This is that lavender birch combo, super soapy with some leather and smoke coming from birch but sadly not long lasting at all. Well, it lasts longer than my good old bottle of Boss Bottled Night surely but still not enough. Please can a designer brand release a strong birch and lavender combo on the market? I am ready to pay a generous amount of greens for that.

Classy, Elegant and Clean. This is everything I wanted from Sauvage but without any of the screechiness and pepper overload. Thoroughly impressed with this one and ended up picking it up the same day I smelled it. Was without a doubt the best thing I smelled at the store that day and was awesome on my skin. Will work for any occasion and simply pleasing. Really looking forward to using it this upcoming Spring/Summer.

A lovely lavender that is very fresh and almost soapy but in a clean and put together way. Lasts well enough to appreciate it and yet not find it overwhelming. With the fresh and clean opening, turns into a nice and woody yet clean scent. Leans a little more masculine but still unisex enough to allow for everyone to wear and enjoy it.

I don't detect any sauvage or aventus here, but what I do get is an ultra fresh, ultra modern lavender blended exquisitely with a sweet citrusy grapefruit, and some woods in the deep dry down. Pretty linear and slightly more masculine I'd say, but still unisex. It smells beautiful and garners many compliments. An underrated JM gem.

This is almost identical to Dior Sauvage EDT when both are dried down after about 5 minutes. Both are absolutely wonderful fragrances but Sauvage edt is much stronger and longer lasting for less money so just go for it instead or if you already have it then this fragrance is redundant.

It's energetic and uplifting scent and the performance is like EDT Intense or EDP. This is one of the outstanding releases from Jo Malone. The lavender is very light. The grapefruit is juicy and sweet, with freshly cut silverbirch scent that shines through the ten hour wearing time.

Love, absolutely love this fragrance. It's spicy, fresh, a bit woodsy, a bit floral. There's this very addicting quality to the opening all the way down through the dry down. So far this is my favorite Jo Malone fragrance. If only it lasted longer. Super underrated.

Underrated, well-blended scent - soapy lavender, clean leather, fresh woods and a bit of citrus. Arm length projection for ~5 hours then becomes a skin scent that lasts up to 9-10 hour mark. Reminds me of A&F Fierce but is much more refined and inoffensive. 9/10

I would place this right in between Sauvage and Faris. Very nice, very gentlemanly. Lavender done very nicely.

Super smooth, clean and fresh, wouldn't say it's the deepest or most complex scent.

This smells like lavender without any sweetness. Woody, herbal, dry, unisex leaning manly. I am a lady and I still like it, but it's a matter of mood, plus I like lavender in general. The bottle is plain, the usual, the box is pretty, decorated with lavender flowers and a black ribbon. The silage is pretty good for a Malone, and so is the lasting power. Simple, fresh, invigorating, probably good for gym or work, I am not sure where else. It reminds me of the Guerlain Allegoria Lavande Velour, same style of lavender, unsweetened, woody, and herbal, kind of those herbal tea mixes I drink before bed, usually called "tranquil dream" for "rest and restore" or something like that. I wish it was a bit more feminine. I like it, but I can see how it would smell more fabulous on a gentleman. Edit: I wore it layered with a little Vanilla Iconique from CSP (which is a plain, boring vanilla, I think maybe any vanilla would do). The Lavender and herb garden of Jo Malone dominated the scent, with just a hint of vanilla added. I got compliments at work, from people who don't normally say anything. So it smells good, and it has decent silage. My cotton shirt still smells a bit like it. It's a love for me.

I am very pleasantly surprised, essentially „real“ lavender in all of its woody, dry, hay-like complexity, cloaked in a veil of smooth leathery ionones, slight musky and slightly powdery as in soap-like, counter balanced by a blast of tart grapefruit in the opening. Essentially a feel good scent of soothing lavender settling into a smooth slightly sweet musky skin scent. Structurally it is clearly a fougere, therefore also probably leaning just a touch masculine for most people. While I do see why people may think of Sauvage, namely the similar grapefruit top accord and similar amberwood elements, it will certainly t invoke Sauvage when worn for longer than a few minutes when it settles into the lavender heart accord. It also settles into a completely different base accord which feels much more refined and comfortably warm than the blast of cool energy that is Sauvage.

Blind buy this. And I love this DNA! Fresh Citrusy and barbershop kind of Fragrance. The lavender note is very dominant in this fragrance. It's quite linear tho. I think male and female can't go wrong with this, because it is very mass appealing. And good for any occasion (specially summer/daytime). Unfortunately, when it comes to the price, I think it's a little bit overpriced. The longevity is not really good. It's not terrible, but it's not longlast. Only get around 5hr in my skin, and not last a day in my clothes. If I only judge by the scent/smell, I will give it an 8/10. But in overall, I think 6.5 or 7. Because of that longevity and price.

Very interesting scent, I did not think I'll like it, but I did, to my surprise. I usually dislike lavender scents, but as the saleswoman explained, I most likely dislike French lavender (which is extremely overwhelming) but Englis lavender is a lot milder and gentler. I guess she was right about the lavender types, I was never aware of the different types and thought I dislike lavender in general. Other than that, the scent is intriguing, not sweet, gentle and clean. Very pleasant. One con for me is that I could not smell grapefruit in it, at all. Would I buy it? No, because of the price point, and weak longevity.

I was gifted this by my Boyfriend and was alittle nervous once I seen Lavender in the name. Unisex leaning masculine. Lavender is the star of the show here but I find the grapefruit comes in to balance everything, even though it’s faint, it definitely helps. On clothes, Lavender ain’t going anywhere, but on skin, it’s so much softer and tolerable. Currently wearing this in the summer and you don’t need to spray much to make a statement. Will definitely try this in colder weather to see how it wears! If the lavender is too much, I find layering D&G Light Blue to add alittle more citrus to the mix most helpful.

This is a great crowd pleasing scent. I find it to be a secret weapon in pairing with other scents. I bought the 10ml version in the airport and love the freshness. It disappears quite quickly on my skin, so I find it a fantastic mix to pair with Bois Imperial or a "heavy" scent, as it helps clear it for the warmer months. It's a very safe blind buy. Check it on your skin, as your acidity levels may mean it vanishes quite quickly.

I don't get much lavender out of this but the fruity and woody notes take over just fine, I like the simplicity and usually wear it on warmer sunny days whether I'm inside or outside. I'm a fan of JM so pretty biased when I say this but it's the perfect summer/spring scent for anyone, me and my girlfriend have worn it on and off for about 6 months and aside from it not lasting that long I have no complaints.

Nice barbershop(ish) fresh fragrance. Simple, clean, unfussy, well executed. Lots of compliments if that's your thing. Strong, borderline beast performance. Lavender, grapefruit and Birtch heaven. Lots of ambrox unfortunately in the drydown but still is a decent universal fresh scent. Scent 6.8/10 Performance 8.5

Beautiful and fresh. Some lavender, some wood. There’s something sweet going on in the background, not sure what that note is. Unisex, great on a woman though. I don’t see it close to Sauvage at all.

Smell is unproblematic and super clean. Performance is quite good for a jo malone perfume

I have always thought of JM being a feminine perfume brand. They are now shifting to unisex probably to widen their clientele. I went to a JM shop and the saleslady suggested this as one of their bestseller unisex frag. Opening is fruity floral lavander..feminal. I caught a soursop scent on mid dry down then a floral fabric conditioner dry down. There were woody leather smoky accords that were posted but I didn't smell it. This is definitely a women's fragrance. Weak longevity at 3-4 hours. This is very mild for projection and Sillage. Secretive. Scent wise it's OK but I'll probably give it to my wife.

Well this starts out very nice and promising, but soon everything goes south. Is ambroxen an unlisted note? It does have a similar irritating blast furnace of laundry detergent ambroxen smell as Dior Sauvage. I was puzzled by the comparisons to Chanel Platinum Egoiste and Abercrombie and Fitch Fierce at first. But although Silver Birch and Lavender isn't as metallic, it's still similarly irritating. The opening is deceptive. Bad buy for my first Jo Malone. Should have sprung for a larger bottle of Amber and Lavender.

One of the more masculine fragrances by Jo Malone. This is isn't like a warm flower bush lavender on a summer day. Lavender has a dryness to it. Instead this is the cool and axe-body spray fragrance lavender that finds its way into so many men's colognes. It smells like old school white shaving cream. Very clean, but not what I expected. I wanted the smell of lavender and woods. Nature. Instead, this is aftershave from a barbershop in the city. Don't get the citrus at all.

Smelt this yesterday. Not my jam, but not bad, either. It's got a lot of lavender in it. I'm not a fan of lavender in general so it's no surprise that I wouldn't be fond of this. Still, it's not exactly your typical barbershop lavender cologne that I usually strongly dislike, so I find this one tolerable somehow. Not going to get a bottle of this for myself for sure. Lasting power is really bad, as well. Two hours tops and it's gone.

TESTED FROM SAMPLE Sprayed it on my skin. After about 30 minutes I lost most of the lavender scent, only the birch/woodsy scent stayed. The projection is modest, but the scent is very linear on my skin. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed it but losing out on the lavender early on is a red flag for me. Gorgeous scent but it's not worth it to me. It reminded me of Bath and Body Work's discontinued Teakwood scent. Miss her.

Smelled this at Nordstrom seeing if I could find a more unisex lavender scent and well, this is more masc. I ended up recommending it to my dad, since it has that clean, refreshing scent he seems to prefer. I saw someone online say it smell like men’s soap, and that very succinctly summarizes this scent. It’s great, but you could get a similar effect by washing with an aromatic soap.

This is Dior Sauvage’s more refined older brother. He isn’t yelling “If you aren’t a brother, or a getting with a brother, then GET OUT” at the frat function, but he definitely still has the pledge tattoo. He has a leather clad bachelor pad now, and a steady girl he is leading on. This is nice, but it has been stained by the douchey DNA it hails from.

Actually more screechy, loud and abrasive than Sauvage. Was hoping for a smoother version. This takes out all the notes that makes Sauvage mass appealing. Pure laundry detergent. Might be good for layering. Or spraying my wardrobe...

I thought it was going to be truly unisex but it leans way too masculine for me. I have a nearly full 30ml bottle to give away if anyone is interested for a sale or swap, shipping from Europe.

This is literally unisex Sauvage due to its heavier use of lavender. Not much more to say about it.

Ot's Dior Sauvage basically. Not bad but not for me.

Welp.... It’s lavender. Joe Malone lavenders are very masculine to my nose. I liked the wood notes when they weren’t being overpowered by a cool lavender bomb. Not for me. Gives off body spray vibes.

Bought this at Sephora after smelling it in store and loving the opening. I love lavender so this was no surprise however upon first wearing it out after about 30 minutes to an hour I was thinking “eww what is that smell?” And the smell in question was the absolutely diabolical dry down of this fragrance 🙂 after the lovely opening is gone you are left with photorealistic cheap hotel soap and baby powder; both of which someone seemed stronger than the opening notes ever were. Definitely not blind but safe. Takes the concept of a clean scent to a place that is bordering on evil.

A bit too masculine for me and reminds me of my dad’s aftershave. Starts with crisp woody whiff with a tinge of dry citrus. The woody vine must be the silver birch as I have never smelled the tree before. I cannot find any lavender except somewhat menthol-like freshness. Compared to other Jo Malone scents this has very good longevity. I am thinking of giving it to my husband.

I dont like this, this reminds me excactly of sauvage. I dont really enjoy blue fragrances, like bdc, ysl y edp, sauvage. I got this as a sample and threw it away, its not my type. For me, i really enjoy jo malone english oak and hazelnut so if anyone also doesnt like these blue type of fragrances I recommend that. I fell in love with that as soon as i used it

.... So I bought this yesterday at Dillards, I went in specifically to buy the new polo’67 and instead came out with this one🤷🏼♂️.. And in No way, Shape or Form, did I at first relate this to Dior Sauvage, probly because I gifted my edt version to a friend who likes it way more than me, as I prefer the Parfum version of Sauvage. The EDT , kinda rubs me the wrong way. With that said, I did not even think this was comparable to Sauvage until I saw the comparison here. And Now ,... I can’t unsee it. But..... this one DOES NOT rub me the wrong way like the Dior, while remaining quite similar indeed. This one is more barbershop feeling with the lavender and it wears like an aqua di Parma version of Sauvage more than a Dior or Prada. . If you kinda like Sauvage but it just hits you funny , or. Want something with more class and elegance, this is worth checking into. Dag-gummit, the pretty Lady at Dillards got me .. AGAIN ✅

Lavendar is the star but the birch lends the woody sappy and leather like smell adding to its profile. Very herbal and aromatic. No florals no caramel or vanilla or musks or tonka bean but just citrus in the opening with some woodsy notes and lavendar. I much prefer English Oak and Hazelnut which though being linear is amazing. Close to Sauvage This is quite masculine leaning but its lavendar so who cares if it does smell a little gentlemanly and not like Mon Guerlain. Wear if you like it. Its below 20°C. Have to see what its like in summer's scorching heat. Quite intense. Way over-priced. This is okay-ish

Just amazing. Opens with a nice zing of grapefruit and a dry lavender. After a moment, the birch pops and it’s so nice. This very light and will need applied on a 90 min basis, but it’s great to just enjoy for yourself. It’s masculine in nature but honestly this would smell good on anyone. That’s just my opinion. And for the Sauvage folks, I can see it per sei, but really it has a simpler character. I need a bottle of this! It will be amazing for layering too.
