Sweet Lime & Cedar

I can't review this properly since I don't have access to it anymore. What I can say is that I went through bottles and bottles and bottles of this before it was discontinued, and then my boyfriend was buying it for me online until the price skyrocketed. One of the only scents I truly felt to be a signature. Not overly sweet, nor too foody, but absolutely delectable, and sublime. Mellow calming sweet fresh lime with a slight spice/woody edge. A peaceful, sparkling year round scent.

This is fresh and crisp and clean, a perfect fragrance for spring/summer. I feel just like I walked out of the shower when I wear this. The lime in it is indeed sweet as the name says, so people who don't do well with citrus scents (like me) may be pleasantly surprised by this one. It's a clean, refreshing fragrance, that lasts more than 6 hours on me. If you're looking for an everyday scent for summer, you should give this one a try.

I have a sample of this and I think it is very unisex. I like it very much. The lime is the first note and then the cedar comes into play. It lasts very well on me. I notice other reviewers here layered it with other JM scents. I especially like to layer it with grapefruit. It smells more complex. I'm glad I got these spray samples because I can play around with layering and get some interesting results.

It's been years since I smelled this, but it warrants a few words. I was shocked to discover that the scent I was wearing was inspired by Thai food. Shocked! The image I got from it was of a cozy cottage full of cedar furniture, spices and citrus rind boiling away to moisten the air, white flowers on the table, wool blankets flung casually over chairs. When first I bought it, the Jo Malone SA said it was her favorite too. She said she enjoyed spraying it at the head of her wooden bedframe. This way, she experienced the scent as at one with the wood, rather than as an addition to her sheets. Although I enjoy unisex fragrances, it is a tad on the masculine side for my skin, and so mixing it with other Jo Malones, such as Orange Blossom or Pomegranate Noir created nice effects. Eventually I used it as a room spray. The lasting power is incredible, and one spray in the center of the room scented it for hours. It did not smell masculine as a home fragrance, only comforting and woody. If I saw it again, I would surely buy it.

Most dominant are definitely lime and cedar, although there isn’t anything overly sweet about it. Orange and passionfruit are detectable supporting notes in the opening too giving this introduction an intense twang. As this warms up, a little coconut, cardamom and gardenia, yes. Lavender, sage and coriander are also prominent. The heart is a little milky which is nice, but it’s still a little of a discordant arrangement to me. Tamarind appears to liven up the tang along with cedar in the base. Just a touch of tonka and amber give a little more warmth. Inspired by Thai cuisine? Perhaps as far as the selection of notes go. But maybe there are too many in this dish as there is some unbalanced tang and twang going on. I don’t find this a very harmonious blend—rather like a stew that hasn’t cooked long enough for the flavors to meld together properly, or one that has two distinctly different dishes thrown in the pot together. Maybe I’m being extra critical because I grew up eating Thai food every day.

This is very strong, much more than I thought it would be. It is a perfect blend of lime and cedar, both of which I like, but this is more masculine to me. It lasts a long time and is just beautiful in the dry down, particularly as you lose the hint of spice which makes the opening masculine. Could be great on a man.

Very refreshing, but sharp and linear- I think this might be a better fragrance for men than for women- or at least this woman! I can see this being almost as cooling as running through the spray of a grass sprinkler on a sultry summer day.

Maybe it's my skin or nose, but I get cedar! Like hamster cage cedar! Oh - there's a lime in the bottom of the hamster cage. I tried it several times trying to get the subtitles but, alas, nothing more. I typically enjoy woody fragraces.

This was an "almost but not quite" fragrance. At first the lime is most pronounced with cedar in the background. Then the lime fades, and the cedar and woods have their show-time. This is where I really enjoy it. It begins warm, woody, and evocative of a resort/retreat in the middle of winter - you're sitting in a hot tub with the steam around you, breathing in the smell of the aromatic cedar walls and polished floor-boards - you can see outside, to nature where it is green and rainy - but you are cosy. If it had stayed this way (or gotten better) I would have said "yes". Unfortunately I feel it went a bit too far with the cedar dominating everything past a certain point. While I am a fan of cedar, the drydown was too overpowering. I won't pay the quite outrageous price for this.

Sweet Lime and Cedar surprised me with its character, at the same time joyfully sparkling and toned down, polished and warm. My skind does not like citruse, no. But here the lime and orange accords are spiced up by pepper, and rounded by jasmin, amber and creamy coconut. The fragrance switches from citrus freshness to warmth of cedar and sweetness of vanilla. There is one disadvantage of this fragrance that totally disqualifies it for me is the longetivity, or rather its absolute lack. I sprayed it on my wrist in the boutique, I chatted with the sales assistant for 2-3 minutes, I left, and I could no longer feel anything at all. There was a warm, slight citrus aroma on my wrist, but everything else had gone with the wind.

Being Asian myslf, I waintrigued with an Asian specifically Thai-inspired fragrance and was charmed by muted woody number. While some of the notes may make it seem fruity or citrusy (I was so hoping for that blood orange & pomelo note to kick in but they never did quite develop:(..) its not,neither is it herbacious in quality. It does open with a similar note to JM's Lime Basil and Mandarin but settles to a strong cedar and pandan leave base. I frankly prefer it layered with the bracing Lime Basil and Mandarin as it gives a good strong base to the other's effervescent lightness.

I am cracking up at the description of this perfume as "inspired by Thai cuisine". The first thing I thought of upon donning Sweet Lime & Cedar was kaffir lime leaves. Then I realized that the composition is truly foody. When I espied tamarind in the note pyramid, then all was confirmed. The musk is sweet to the point of being somewhat annoying and yet the composition seems more masculine than feminine somehow. I don't know. I think that it's fair to say that this combination does not work for me. I love Thai food, but I don't want to smell like it!

It's odd, this falls in and out of favor with me. Must be how it reacts to my body chemistry at different times (sometimes to cedary). Don't get me wrong, I do like this but I guess for the right time/ place! The lime and pink peppar are more pronounced on the top then the blood orange and passion fruit. The middle seems to be over shadowed my the cedar. A little jasmine but not much else makes it through.Pity! Yes, masculine at heart but blend it with Malone's Pomegranite Noire which will give it a more seductive feel.

I tried this in early spring and found it to be too woody for warmer days... Now I notice, it pops with a citrus at first spray and the woody note compliments it shortly thereafter. It still is a little too woody for hot days, but with the lime/citrusy scent, it isn't for colder days either, IMO. Spring and early fall are nice times to wear this. BUT,,, if layered, it would be amazing in colder months due to the bolder deep woodsy layers. The nicest part, it's a memorable, individual fragrance......

This is such an elegant and nice smell. It's not formal, but more so classy (yet delicious). I've gotten many compliments on it, and I love the smell of both lime and cedar (so yeah, tada!). My only complaint is longevity and sillage. Why doesn't Jo Malone do EDP or EDT's? Although it doesn't last, I'm still left with a lasting impression of this effortless fragrance.

This is a solid lime & cedar scent. Longevity isn't much to talk about. Sillage is minimal. Not sure you'd wear this without layering it with other scents - as I understand is the Jo Malone model. It's very simple. It is basically what it says it is. Unlike some unisex scents that seem to lean one way or the other, I think this truly is non-gendered.

It's a woody lime, with cedar as the most noticeable note, I barely get any other notes listed here. It's a bit sharp and sweet, but not too much sweetness. Basically, it's a refreshing and asexual scent; lasted ~3-4 hours on my skin.

The best Jo Malone perfume. You could combine it with 154 Jo Malone and you have a bold classy perfume. If you use it alone, it is still classy but more casual. In any case it smells expensive. Bravo Jo Malone!

I am a lover of essential oils and natural smells but this just smelled like mouldy talc to me I'm afraid.

Yeah, it's like the review below, it smells like sawdust for hamsters, it's really unique, in a bad way.
