Taif Rose

This deserves more hype! I have a lot of perfumes but I still thought this was worth purchasing. The rose is pleasantly full bodied, slightly similar to that of Gucci A Song for the Rose or Duchess Rose by Penhaligons but with an endearing oud reminiscent aroma of spice. The spice is from the coffee/amber notes and is intriguing and addictive but doesn't overshadow the femininity and delicateness of the rose. The longevity and projection is great (especially for a Jo Malone fragrance). It is certainly more impactful than mainstay Jo Malone fragrances in terms of strength and sillage (for example Wild Bluebell). It invokes the song Desert Rose by Sting for me which appears to be exactly the type of scent they were aiming to create, based on the description. Dior Rose n Roses fragrance, for comparison, is fresher, cleaner but a lot weaker in both longevity and projection. This is feminine leaning but I would imagine some men may be able to pull it off. I would wear this year-round but I think it suits slightly cooler days.

Tried this at Mecca George Street on skin. What a delight from Jo Malone! Beautiful ‘Turkish Delight’-esque Rose. Coffee note comes through nicely and provides a dark and rich undertone to the aforementioned rose. Just like the others in the Intense range, this is sensual and alluring, yet sophisticated and professional. This would not be out of place in both the bedroom and the office. This shines in the heat but I suspect this will be even more stunning in cooler weather. Beautiful bottle too, wish the brand would do more bottles like this. Sad this doesn’t come in the 100ml size but after spending a few hours with it on skin I returned to Mecca to purchase as it’s just that good. Not like TF Cafe Rose AT ALL, so don’t blind buy if that’s what you’re looking for. Much prefer this over Cafe Rose, IMO. This will be a staple going into Australian Autumn and Winter, and it’s nice to see the brand come out with something a little more distinct.

It’s a really syrupy fruity rose. I’ve heard that real taif rose is more of a citrusy fruity sort of rose. This leans more tart berry. I do like it on its own. I don’t find an obvious coffee note here but there is a duskiness that harkens to coffee to me before I read the notes. So I believe that checks!! To me, I love this the most on top of other harsher rose scents. Right now, I am loving this on top of FM’s rose and cuir. The sweetness contrasts the wine-like rose accord and the harsh leather, complimenting the subtle nuttiness in Rose and Cuir. Also, if you’re a PH fraghead, this smells so good with BATUK by Wren Atelier. The inkiness contrasts with Taif’s floral sweetness and compliments the pulpy, bitter citruses with its sweeter berries.

Picked this up at the Jo Malone shop in downtown DC. Went in just to try their scents, as I’d only ever smelled the pear/freesia one. Taif Rose has only come out in the last couple days. I prefer slightly different, interesting scents (not always crowd pleasers). This one would fit that category. Rose, with a subtle smoky note. This reminds me of By the Fireplace, without smelling like I’ve been sitting next to an actual campfire. It’s very sexy & cozy. Something in the background also reminds me of Givenchy’s Very Irresistible L’Intense - although I wasn’t a big fan of that fragrance. Taif Rose is lovely & will be my daily scent for a while.

I absolutely *love* this perfume. Jo Malone does Roses and florals so well. When I saw this coming out, I knew I needed to try it. It reminds me of a less Smokey Velvet Rose and Oud, and not as heavy. Long lasting too. It’s in line with some of their other intense perfumes. It does not smell like any Delinas (I have them all) but the Rose note is somewhat similar. Layers well with other JM scents too.

I was at Bloomingdales on Christmas Eve I saw this (wasn't even on my radar) and sprayed and fell in love on the spot . To my nose it's jammy , boozy super delicious.I do not think it smells like Tom Ford Cafe Rose . I didn't end up buying it but I sprayed it on myself and kept smelling it all day and couldn't stop thinking about it . Finally yesterday 12/26 I went back and bought it.

Alas, there was hardly anything left in the tester to try on my skin, but I was almost compelled to order it (Nordstrom was sold out) based on the blotter sniff. It was quite lovely and I think I would prefer it to Jo Malone Red Roses, which I own. However, I am a signature scent type of lady, and the fact that this is not a part of the permanent collection put me off.

Beautiful sweet fruity rose with coffee and amber drydown. I'm so happy to have it. Got it as a gift. It's more fruity than one would think, but not Delina sweet. Delina is lighter and fresher. Taif Rose has a richness to it. It's quite long lasting and not the worst projector, especially not for Jo Malone. I'm lucky to have it. I love fruity roses with a twist.

Picked this up at Nordstrom. I think it's exclusive to them? This is a less in your face, less powdery Lipstick Rose. Projects to about arm's length and lasts on me for a solid 6-8 hours. If you're not a fan of the heavy oud in Velvet Rose and Oud, this is similar to that but without the heavy oud and a bit sweeter.

Interesting to see others say this has poor longevity; I purchased for my partner and it lasts for hours with excellent projection. Personally love the multi layered scent of rose, coffee & spice. It’s really interesting to me and grabs my nose, wanting to smell more.

Clear and light rose perked up by sweet amber and lovely coffee. Love the combination after trying on a few times. If only it came in the normal 100ml size the price would be more reasonable. Still, I had to get it to complete my collection.

Deep, dark, deliciously oudy exotic rose. A spicy, ambery, roasted rose. An elegant resting b*tch-faced rose that knows who she is & has no fuqs to give. I am entranced by her. 🥀

This is a sweet Jammy rose. It's perfect for spring and summer. It's not a complicated scent. It lasts longer than most JM fragrances. I believe it's a limited edition.

A lovely rose opening, almost a soliflore for the first few minutes on my skin. As it unfolds the fragrance warms up and the amber comes into play. I don't pick up the coffee note unless I put my nose to my skin, and even then what I get is more the bitterness of coffee than an actual coffee note. It is not in line with Jo Malone's usual light floral scents but does fit well in the "intense" line. I like it and enjoy wearing it.

I can't resist a jammy rose. I was surprised to learn there is a coffee note in this. Personally, I didn't pick up on the coffee note—definitely less coffee than Tom Ford's Café Rose. It’s much lighter and fresher than Rose Jam by Lush. I really enjoy this. The longevity and projection are pretty impressive for a Jo Malone.

Smells like rose flavoured Turkish delight. Strong and projecting. Close to Indult Manakara.

A rose stripped of romance, of cliché, of softness—this is Taif rose in its purest form. Not lush and velvety, not jammy and honeyed, neither airy and powdery, nor fresh and dewy, but something sharper, livelier, super...Taif. A little sweet, but edged with lemony pepper, as well as a metallic shimmer that makes it unmistakably itself. There’s a unique coolness to this rose, a brightness that feels almost untouchable, like light glinting off something smooth and spicy. The coffee accord lurks beneath, but I don't think this is the rich, roasted gourmand touch everyone expected from reading the notes. Not unsurprising, considering what we're looking at—a crowd-pleasing, generally unambitious JM work. The alleged coffee, it leans into something deeper, almost leathery, like the musky, nutty hum of perhaps Ambrofix. A warmth seeps through as well, not cozy, not sweet, but resinous and golden, reminiscent of Cambodian oud—sweet yet smoky. Like amber catching fire at the edges. A true Taif rose, no doubt. But this means it's not the kind to melt into skin, not the kind that drapes itself in silk and whispers sweet nothings. Nothing Valentine's-ey at all. A fiesty floral that stands on its own, vivid and unwavering, neither romantic nor particularly memorable beyond its accuracy. A Taif rose, as it is—sharp, pretty, but slightly removed, refusing to be anything else.

You cannot tell it does not give the Delina La Rosee vibes! You. Just. Cannot! Such a disappointment in terms of creativity. Okay, fine, inventing a new take on a rose note is hard these days, but come on, so close to another perfume? At least de Marly bothered to ensure a beast mode projection, whereas here it sits too close to the skin and vanishes too soon. What makes it somewhat different from Delina is the rose in Malone has more of a Turkish rose vibe. There is a coffee note listed there, which I could not trace at all. I love coffee in perfume, so I usually pick it up quickly, but here it is just not visible. In fact, I think had there been more coffee here, it would have made it much more interesting and unique (as unique as a rose perfume can get in 2025). I cannot say it is inventive or worth purchasing, even though it is undoubtedly a pleasant scent. It's just nothing we have not seen by now. Plus, the bottle is too small! I am not sure price/quantity/performance is reasonable.

It's a little creamier (like a skin cream) and smokier version of the traditional rose water. Nothing new, nothing special, nothing exciting. I'd speak about the dry down but....... - Performance: No dry down since it's simply gone in a few minutes. Are they serious with this sillage and longevity? I am used to over-spraying jo malone fragrances and refreshing every hour since they can't seem to get their performance right. But this bad?! For this price point?! It's becoming a joke. I am done with this brand.

I smelled this in stores so I didn’t get a sense or performance or how it handles skin. My impression though, was of an extremely sweet candy rose, bright and youthful. It was too candy-like for me by far. I didn’t get the coffee or even amber. It was a good match for the color of the bottle. Not what I expected from Jo Malone.

First impression I’m kind of disappointed, I was so excited when I saw the 3 notes. The only thing I can smell is barely rose and coffee. I will need to sample again in the future to see how I feel about it.

A very pretty and strong (for JML) rose perfume for those who do not like rose perfumes. I mainly got a sweet coffee and amber fragrance, sweetened even more by the rose. It had a really good projection and you would get a gorgeous trail of sweet floral coffee gourmand every time you walked by someone that was wearing it. I understand why so many people loved it! Sadly I prefer my rose fragrances true and atomic- If there isn't a pink plume of headache inducing rose surrounding me, it's not my type of rose. If you enjoyed Taif rose, you'd probably enjoy Velvet Rose and Oud from JML too; it's another rose fragrance for those who don't like rose. I'll stick to Red Roses or Rose Jam from Lush myself :P

Din păcate am avut așteptări destul de mari cu parfumul acesta. Nu persista mai mult de 30 de minute. Am observat că oamenii îl compară cu Parfum de Marly Deplina. Nu exista comparație ....nici pe departe!

I liked the opening, but after it settles it becomes sickly sweet and cloying, and smells somewhat of old lipstick. Definitely not fresh.

I really dislike this. It made me realize that despite liking coffee, it's quite bad in perfumes. I don't know why anyone would combine rose with coffee. When I smelled it from the bottle it seemed very nice like a realistic rose bush with nectar amd some freshness but the coffee note really ruins it and makes it awful.

Sweet rose jam. This fragrance is a beautiful blend of roses, coffee and a sweet accord. It’s this jammy rose, that’s not too cloying which makes it perfect for the spring time. Slightly reminds me of oud bouquet by Lancome, but without the oud note. It’s a well done rose that doesn’t smell like an “old lady” or like the classical Bulgarian rose. The performance it’s okay for Jo Malone, especially as it’s a cologne intense. Try layering it with a chocolate scent and you will get the most decadent chocolate covered roses scent bubble. It definitely smells like a dessert on its own - as a rose jam to be exact, but without being too photorealistic. I don’t know how to put this into words, but it’s something deep about this rose scent that makes it addictive (or I am just a sucker for a sweet rose fragrance)

If you are looking for a quality rose perfume , then consider sampling this .. Despite fresh toilettery kind of naunces in jo malone oils , this is surprisingly not sharp at all nor so rosewatery .. its delicately rounded with subtle sweetness like fluffy turkish delight dusting. The jamminess here does not overpower the fresh floral aspects in Taif Rose , its beautifully blended and balanced .. It is a successful release after several mediocres from this housr .. Good performance in beautiful shade of pink bottle so thumbs up for the presentation as well , although i wished for some rose graphics to add an oomph to the vanity :) For comparison : its the less sweet and more rosy version of Vancleef rouge rose

I might be missing something in this review, but I was wearing it yesterday. I like the scent. After the dry down, in let's say 30 minutes to an hour, I was like this smells like something I have worn. Then, it clicked. It reminds me of Amber Oud By Kilian. I think the key difference is Amber Oud is more of a unisex fragrance where Taif Rose definitely feels more a traditionally female fragrance. Again, I think fragrance depends on the person and you wear what you feel makes you comfortable, but that's what I noticed. That said, both are lovely and can be worn for every day.

Despite Jo Malone denying this is a fragrance that is coming out, and not on any Jo Malone Social Media or website, yet sold in US Nordstrom stores, Fragrantica has added to their database. This is a beautiful rose dominant fragrance. Taif Rose is sweet, and you do smell the coffee notes for the first couple hours, then the coffee fades off and the rose is more bitter and reminds me of the rose in Delina. Smells nothing like Tom Ford Cafe Rose from the Private Blend (original) nor does it smell like Tom Ford Cafe Rose from the designer line.

34 year old male here tonight I went to Macys to buy my wood sage and sea salt the sales rep told me to try this on skin and let it settle. I put some on my arm I love rose frags Delina, Rose Prick, Intense Cafe, Prodigy, Radical Rose, Atomic Rose. This one really captured me. I’m going to buy a full bottle for sure so far 3 hours later it’s projecting and has me in a trance. Ladies you won’t see me coming wearing this one I’m coming for compliments, close walk by’s and your number if you are cute !!!

I cannot stand Delina in any of its versions. This: this is gorgeous!! My absolute new favorite! I've been wearing it every day and I have a huge collection. Warm, fresh, a slight spicy rose, a slight jammy rose, beautiful warm amber, and I swear the dry down smells like melted white chocolate. BUB ordered immediately as I know this is limited.

Oooo, I love this out the nozzle, and on skin, it’s such a happy fruity rose, feels like rose plus stone fruit and other warm things and a smidge of green and woody stems. I don’t get coffee as if 6our smelling coffee.. but it could be what gives the wood feel and warmth. Lasts all day, and for the cost I’d expect it to.

I love rose scents, so I was immediately intrigued when I saw this was coming out. So far this is really nice. Off my skin I find this to be an even blend of soft, powdery, slightly sweet rose and dusty ground coffee. The amber here adds a really nice warm sweetness to the drydown that pairs great with the rose & coffee.

Rosewater caramels, ...yum. I know Taif is a rose-growing region near Mecca, ...but here the word makes me think of taffy, or toffee. This is a very nice rose-led sweet gourmand. Yes, it's a simple idea, but the execution is superb. This is easy to love, ...if and when you have a sweet tooth.

Oh goodness this is way too strong. I loved it at first but soon it became overpowering and the coffee was way too bitter. It is just not for me- it does not have the balance of Cafe Rose. Definitely not a safe bling buy.

The opening is a very dewy, fresh rose similar to Carmina by Creed. I was surprised to find that the note that emerges in the drydown is coffee -- I thought it was wheat. It's a toasted, slightly nutty accord.

Super Super similar to JM Velvet Rose and Oud. This one is a bit fresher and sweeter. I don't think I'm able to pick up the coffee notes from this. Overall super nice, and can be worn throughout the year.

Another jammy rose. Beautiful, fresh and sweet in a lush way. Not gourmand sweet. But for this price point, Lush's Rose Jam is more value for money for me. I don't get the coffee note at all.

This is a lovely fragrance but this DNA has been done so much recently it isn't anything new and seems to be jumping on a bandwagon.

Just buy Weleda Wild Rose spray deodorant and save yourself $150. They smell identical and Weleda lasts longer than 15 minutes.
