Tangy Rhubarb Cologne

Opening is luscious and really does smell of rhubarb - which to me is best described as a combination of juicy red currant and astringent tart greenness. It becomes more tart as it wears - for me this is great but I can see others being turned off by it, so this is NOT a safe blind buy. Interestingly, after a few hours it smells a lot like Mirto di Panarea from the Acqua di Parma Blu Mediterraneo line. RHUBARB LOVERS: I think a better rhubarb fragrances is Hermes Eau de Rhubarbe Ecarlate which also has a very true to life rhubarb scent, but gives more juicy red currant and less astringency.

This is my favorite of the Marmalade collection recently launched by Jo Malone. The scent is juicy, spicy, fruity, and woody. On the dry down the scent is a bit creamier- to me the orange really comes out at the end, but I think the scent really retains freshness throughout its wear. I get moderate longevity from this - so about 4+ hours on skin and clothes.

An absolute favorite for the warmer seasons. It just gives off a cheery atmosphere and transports me to a setting of an outdoor picnic in a spring field. The bottle design is also pretty. I also like that I can smell both the rhubarb and green leaves to a large extent.

This scent is very fresh and straightforward. Most importantly (to me) it’s not at all synthetic smelling (as some of the scents from this line have started to be over the years). I really love it and, as designed, it does pair very well with Blackberry & Bay.

Tart rhubarb with a ton of nuttiness. It is almost as a cross between tart Rhubarb of Hermes Rhubarbe Escarlate and One umbrelle for two. Absolutely gorgeous and I think, the most unique from the Marmalade collection.

A lovely offbeat, yet straightforward, fragrance. At the top, a rough, yet sweet, green smelling rhubarb, followed closely by bright orange. These notes intermingle in a unique way and the scent is verdant and lush. The cedar at the base gives this a just a bit greater longevity than some JM fragrances. The rhubarb is rough like a Zinfandel rather than smooth like a Pinot Noir but with the touch of sweetness and spice, this is the median of feminine and masculine. Something about this fragrance reminds me of the waning days of summer, heading into early fall and the feelings of both loss and anticipation that that time evokes. If you are looking for a scent which is fruity, tart, green, off the beaten path and sits close to the skin, JM's Tangy Rhubarb fits the bill.

A rhubarb solinote, maybe the purest I have smelled yet. I can't really detect any other notes. It has a bit of a clean, vaguely floral base, but nothing except for the rhubarb stands out to me, neither the orange, nor the cedar. This rhubarb is relatively sweet and not mouth-puckeringly tangy like the name would make one think. It's not a jammy rhubarb gourmand though, just refreshing, cleaned-up rhubarb with a hint of sweetness. I like it, but it's not something I would buy or wear, as they are clearly many more interesting creations with rhubarb on the market. I wish the Marmalade collection was a bit truer to the name, jammier. As this is rather transparent and light and only lasts a few hours, it would have benefitted from a stronger base.

This collection quietly launched and has been out for at least a few weeks now but there wasn't one review in sight so I blind bought and I'm not disappointed. Having said that, you need to love the linear and light freshness of JM not to be disappointed. But that's exactly what I was hoping for here. The opening smells exactly like tart rhubarb in the best possible way. And while the rhubarb dissipates relatively quickly, it stays fresh and green on my skin. The marmalade collection is apparently meant to pair well with Blackberry & Bay which is my signature, and this one definitely does that. If you're looking for light, fresh and tart, I'd recommend giving this a try (plus the bottles are adorable).

I truly like this scent and got it for an amazing price off eBay. The sourness is bright and fruity without being overly sweet, and the dry-down is quite nice. Unlike most Jo Malone scents, I honestly think this is one that you would want to be careful about over spraying. I think it is quite powerful (to the point where it can be headache-inducing) if you spray it more than 2-3 times. Because this scent is so sour, I would imagine that it may be finicky with individuals' skin chemistry. One day I wore it on a day where I worked out and got super sweaty– the rhubarb was refreshing, but the woodiness did not sit well on my damp skin and I smelled like a sour mess.

Got this as part of the Marmalade Collection promotions, was attracted by the bottle aesthetic and the visuals of it LOL.. Blind buy because I enjoy citrusy scents and thought rhubarb was an interesting addition. Smelt it and thoroughly enjoy it. Sweet and summery feeling with a slightly masculine woody drydown. A unique scent like no other. Can be a little overwhelming and headache inducing if I spray too much on myself, but other than that, it’s a nice one to have.

Tangy Rhubarb was my initial favorite from this collection. It has a unique, feel good quality while wearing it. More daytime than evening, but mixes so well with other Jo Malone’s! My husband and I both love this, so definitely unisex. Bright rhubarb opening, but once it settles down the projections and sillage fade fast. Of the 5 from the collection, this one has the least staying power unfortunately. I do love it though, nothing like it in my collection.

Sharp, a little grapefruity, but definitely rhubarb. It's uncooked rhubarb, without the sugar. Meaning very tangy, very citrussy, very zesty. Very fresh. I love it. More of a refreshment cologne, not a proper going out perfume. But that's normal for freshies. I love it.

The spray smells amazing but disappears by the time it hits the skin. Also, the bottle is beautiful

Rhubarb in a floral rather than fruity way. I sense orange only at the very end.

It starts with a lovely tart rhubarb, which I love, but then dries to a grapefruit-ish bitter orange with a hint of floral notes. Its definitely a unisex scent. I have mixed feelings about it. I love the top note but the dry-down is a bit meh.

Rhubarb certainly starred in this scent concoction, but unfortunately, the tangy part is not what I got. To me, the citrus did not smell refreshingly tangy but bitterly green. Maybe it’s because of the woody base, I don’t know, but I certainly didn’t enjoy the experience.

I enjoy the rhubarb tang accord but unfortunately I also get a loud bug repellent spray note that turns me off. Review of spray sample.

Loved it for the first 20 mins. Then nothing, couldn't smell it at all! Jo Malone said you need to spritz generously. Indeed you do. At £55 I expected a lot more from this and would get through a bottle in less than a month to actually smell it for even an hour. Try it on your skin before buying.
