In my opinion, this is the best perfume created through the last 15 years. It is classy, super unique and has a huge character. Warm, sexy, fresh, energizing in the morning, and after your night bath, it will loosen your tensioned muscles. I'm sure they applied AromaTherapy teachings while creating it. I Am Woman you don't have to tell us twice Joan Collins. You're one amazing woman! And I love your fragrance. IAW is a citrus floral Oriental with a freshness and green aromatic flair a la Obsession For Women Calvin Klein. But don't get it wrong. This is not a dupe nor that much like Obsession. Why would Ms. Collins take the trouble to formulate a new fragrance, as late as 2014, sell it, and end up smelling like Obsession which is an iconic 90's perfume and one that has never been discontinued. The only similarities are in the top notes with the heavy citrus burst. This is a superb citrus based perfume. In it's orange center, it is very marketable as a modern fragrance. I.E. Lady Million by Paco Rabanne. But this is not cheap nor a run of the mill ordinary fragrance. This is Joan bloody Collins we're talking about! And the lady has been with us for years providing us with class, dignity, elegance and fashion! Her entire post Dynasty career she spent convincing us that she was a very sweet woman and not the Alexis bitch we remember from the TV drama. She only launched two fragrances. Her first Spectacular came at the end of the 1980's and is a superior floral Oriental which I love very much. IAW leaves behind it's citruses and develops into a floral patchouli scent. I detect the rose and jasmine as the only identifiable flowers. I would not add the orange blossom because it was already present as it opens. In fact I could literally smell the orange blossom orange flower as I put my nose to the bottle. A sandalwood is also noticeable in the drier stages. Woodsy enough but not too woodsy. A lovely cedar too. The bottle. Let's talk about that. This is a gorgeous and very unique looking bottle. Looks great in anyone's collection or vanity dresser table. The rest of the performance of this stunner of a perfume goes like this. After the citrus begins to wear off slightly, the florals come through with a soapy and very sweet sort of smell. Lovely light jasmine and rose. Then I detected herbal scents of green patchouli leaves, and plenty of oak moss. The moss note is rare to find nowadays much less back in 2014 so this says a lot if not everything. It goes to show that Collins was interested in bringing back old school classic vintage formula notes. Oak moss used to be a staple of most Orientals and especially chypres. This is something of a chypre but because of the citrus floral freshness for me it is never as dry or as woodsy as a chypre. There is not as many woods in this fragrance as there are citruses. The orange blossom is ultimately the strongest accord. If you're fond of orange blossom check it out. Other than that the dry down stage appears to be very mossy and musky, nothing extraordinary. It can be quite Oriental because it reminds me of a sort of tweaked Shalimar. They share similar notes: citrus top, lemon, rose, jasmine, patchouli. The oak moss is not as strong as in vintage original moss fragrances. It's a synthetic chemical moss but it's very green and very beautiful. It evokes a green atmosphere of moss on rocks and branches, bushes and herbs, and plenty of orange flowers and jasmines. I also love the amber. The amber and the sandalwood provide it with a distinctive Oriental touch. The ambers are balsamic and gummy without being too sweet. It's oily and at times powdery. If you like amber this is a very beautifully rendered amber. The fragrance feels feminine, adult, mature, womanly, exotic, natural, sophisticated and very regal. This is a lush and loud perfume. It does smell like something Alexis or Joan would wear herself. It's definitely a day time and spring and summer season thing. It's leisurely and very fresh, very intoxicating. Everyone around me loves to smell the air around me when I walk into a room wearing it. This is a woman's perfume and I AM WOMAN!
