Floral Incense This is just beautiful. I don't know how it represents Marie Antoinette, Versailles or the 18th century. I was expecting more florals. It smells wonderful but it has an incense not that smells like floral incense for your home. A citrusy opening consisting of orange and lemon fresh and sharp, medicinal. This is a good citrus and seems to have them in spades as they are found in the top notes and base notes. If you like citrusy florals this is going to delight your nose. The flowers are made up of rose, powdery and feminine, like sachets for closets and drawers smelling of sweet pink roses. This pink rose and powder puff scent is very evocative of Marie Antoinette. I would imagine that her favorite flower was the rose. This is not a rose perfume however. It has additional and more pronounced floral notes of ylang ylang and a big lavender. This is a good lavender and yet even as aromatic as that floral note is, the incense takes it over. At times it throws up green herbal and aromatic scents. I kept smelling patchouli but I was mistaken and it's a basil and a scent of watercress. This pairing of basil herb and watercress is very green and a tad smoky, completely in synch with the incense. Finally there is an incense, lots of it covering up the flowers in a smoky haze. On me this is too much and all I can do is apply a little bit on my bosom. I prefer this fragrance as room spray as a diffuser. You can still use it in that fashion. This is really nice and I love to smell it at my row house in London. People ask me what this scent is and I only say that it's a Marie Antoinette fragrance to get a reaction out of them. It doesn't smell like something out of the 1770's but it's very sophisticated, floral, rich in incense and citruses, lavender and traditional old formula notes that at times it could pass for one of those unisex floral oil distillations from the 18th century. "We had a beautiful dream and that was all" - Marie Antoinette, 1793. This is a hell of a fragrance. It's far too modern to capture the spirit of Marie Antoinette and she'd never wear this because she would not be able to even make out what it is! The only thing about it that could pass for a perfume worn by Marie Antoinette is it's oiliness. It smells, tastes and feels like essential oil and extract distilled from flowers, incense, and citrus. It does have that Grasse perfumery vibe, very old fashioned, no aldehydes. It's oil. As such it's clearly not wearable as a perfume. It's more like a bath oil or scented candle for your house. I would love this as a diffuser as a spray for your house. It's really beautiful. It begins with citrus, fresh, sharp and lemony. Basil and angelica give it an herbal and even medicinal quality. The heart is floral with lavender that stood out on me more than the rose, ylang-ylang, tuberose and rhododendron. This rhododendron is rare to find in perfumery. It's glorious and heady very strong. The incense note is also quite strong but it's not smoky it's more like a hot myrrh that warms up the fragrance. I can detect the French labdanum and jasmine. It's really nice to be able to smell the different notes as they pop up now and then. This scent lasts a very long time. My house smelled of it for three days. Not bad but this stuff is not going on my skin. I am making it into an aroma for my home. Gorgeous. Even if it's a fantasy it smells like Marie Antoinette at the garden of Versailles where she is smelling roses and rhododendron and just for a moment she is free and alone far away from all the troubles of the nation that would turn against her and remove her head from her shoulders.

Reminds me of Galliano. This is a floral with incense. A lot of citruses at the first perhaps too much so I'm wondering what's up with this fragrance. This is not a perfume to wear every day, and really not much of a perfume. It's like an incense for your home. But it's not Oriental/Arabic or Middle Eastern oud-and-incense. It's floral. The lavender aroma is very nice and it's mixed with other florals like rhododendron, rose, ylang ylang angelica and jasmine. The sweet floral smell keeps this in the feminine realm. It really does smell like something you'd find in the dresser table of Queen Marie Antoinette. Citrus and flowers are my favorite combo and the incense note here is not too overpowering. The fragrance lasts an incredibly long time but this is best applied as a spray for your home, especially in large spaces where people get together like a family room or living room. It should also match up with flower vases in the home. If you have lavender or roses at your house, this scent along with those flowers would really produce a remarkable aroma.

Once again I agree with Doc. For me as well this is one of the better ones from this line. Although-I can guarantee you won't like it if you're not a green fan; this has a VERY strong bergamot opening that is sharper than a shark's tooth, so beware the bite. I found myself liking it better after 20 minutes, which gives it time to air out and become more subtle, kind of like one of those comments from friends that you've been talking too loud. Don't stick your nose in this... you might get dizzy. It's best as a halo, and this is why I agree with Doc's statement that this whole line's concept is aromatherapy and not perfumery. Again, toss in the wood chips and you've got yourself a nice potpourri frag. If you have to pick three from this house, I recommend giving this one a nod.
