Be You

Ok yes this is a kids fragrance Did I buy it for myself? No I didn’t. I bought it for my middle daughter who’s really starting to show an interest in my collection and I did not really like the thought of harsh chemicals on her skin when spraying mine on her. So I did do a bit of research on if there was any perfume that was suitable for young children, and this was the one that popped up (so I obviously snapped it up straight away and gave her as a little surprise after school) so when she sprayed this on herself on the say, this, one really did remind me of to Kilian fragrances that I own one being forgotten games and the other one being love, don’t be shy ( obviously not the exact same) But you know what ??? for a kid this is pretty luxurious probably the best buy and bang for your buck. My daughter is over the moon with this, and in her words, she “ ballin”😂❤️

In the bottle, I smell the richer, musky patchouli. As soon as it hit the skin, super sweet jasmine scents billow up aggressively. After a few seconds, it settled into a peachy-orange citrus. It was like that Willy Wonka candy that takes you through stages of flavor! A few moments after that roller coaster, it settled into some middle kind of sweet, warm musky scent that is some combination of all with no clear star. It does give a kind of chemical-y, cloying simplicity that doesn't hold a candle to adult scents (but, you know, it's hair-bow-era JoJo and meant for kids, so that's understandable.) All in all, I'd say it's way more mature than I would have expected for something targeted to tweens in the day, so I could see how it could make a fashion-curious kiddo feel -very- mature, dahling ☆ For my adult nose, I have to say this evokes your 19-year-old cousin in 1993 when you were 8. She's got giant, styled bleached hair and teeth to match, white socks scrunched perfectly and bangles on both wrists. She's probably a cheerleader and you think she's the coolest person ever. But she's also the kind of lady who, thirty years later, still has that same tan, piano teeth, and fluffy fake blonde hair and can't go to the grocery store without a full, kind of orange, beat. When you hug her now, she smells exactly like JoJo Siwa Be You. It's definitely nostalgic.

It's a pretty, albeit quite a cheap and lightweight bottle, but I do like the design, with the big plastic crystal lid. Perfect for any girl's dressing table (and mine). As for the juice, I'm afraid I can only conclude my bottle is suffering from being 8 years old. There is nothing fresh about the scent at all, it has definitely turned. I would say it is most akin to mouldy blackberry jam. I do see why the notes are supposed to be predominantly orange lemon and peach, but as I say, this is definitely not a fresh fragrance, if it ever was I cannot say. So think mouldy old dusty lemons and oranges. There is also a bit of deliberate musk and patchouli, but most of the muskiness is more mustiness to be honest. So, in short, do not give this to your child please, it would border on child cruelty. Perhaps buy it for yourself if curious - my 50ml edp was a bargain on eBay, a little over £5 including postage. But also, beware - it stinks, so I have tipped the contents into my unwanted perfume spray bottle, to mingle with the other dodgy or old perfume, which I spray in my running shoes 🤣
