Signature Gardenia & Oud

Just want to add an update. Before purchasing this I had read a review below comparing this to Tom Ford black orchid. I tried both side by side yesterday and I personally disagree - but that's just my nose/my personal opinion. It's definitely not a dupe for black orchid but there are some similarities like a distant cousin. Both have gardenia, but in black orchid it's blended in entirely with other notes to create a very smooth, dark, complex alluring concoction with other notes of chocolate, truffle, etc. In Gardenia & Oud, gardenia is prominent, but extremely well done and flawlessly supported by other notes. Gardenia is the main player though, and it's not nearly as dark or complex as black orchid. Very cozy gardenia though in Gardenia & Oud. In a nutshell, they are very different perfumes, both fantastic. I'm looking forward to wearing Gardenia & Oud in the spring soon. Still can't believe I found it for $10!! This is my favorite of the Jones NY Signatures. Worth much more than the price.

This is really pretty! Coming from someone who does not like oud or soliflore gardenia, but Jones NY blends this so well that it's very wearable for me. Gardenia is at the heart, and the other notes compliment it to perfection adding a cozy, lactonic quality, slightly sweet but naturally so, fresh, even slightly watery like fresh dew on flowers, but still good performance. Reminds me of a beautiful painting of a moonlit garden with gardenia as the focal point. The oud is not really detectable in this. 4 hours on skin, much better performance on clothes, but for a $10 perfume from Ross I'm not complaining. This would be beautiful on spring nights. I see this as more feminine leaning as I associate gardenia with a perfume my grandmother would wear, but it's balanced and modernized a bit. Very floral.

Within seconds of testing this (one spray) on my forearm, I’m just stunned. I’m not a “nose” but I detect two distinct scent families that would never play together well but for some unexplainable reason, they WORK! It’s almost like a contrast of light and dark, heavy and airy, young and old, sweet and sarcastic... and if this lasts on me for more than an hour and my boyfriend isn’t repulsed by the scent, I may have finally found my SIGNATURE scent (no need to ask how long I’ve been looking, but you can see my collection of scents to get an idea of how old I am!). I’ve worn Jones New York clothing for work for years.... Now they’ve completely taken me by surprise with their perfume collection! Who knew!?

Wow! Affordable and sooo good!! I found this gem at Ross for $10!! My mother bought it first and when we smelled it at home, I knew I had to go back and get one for myself. This opens up spicy for sure, almost smells like cinnamon in the initial spray for me. Then the gardenia starts to bloom after a few minutes as it dries down. Give it a couple hours and it becomes this creamy gardenia with a hint of sweetness that comes from the coconut & sandalwood. It's just a lovely clean skin scent. I feel like it could be worn alone during the day and maybe layered for the night.

Wow, what a steal. This is a baddy! Sexy, lush, smooth gardenia and a dry down that is like a TF Black Orchid lite. Lasts 4-5 hrs then lingers as a skin scent for another 2... I wore it on a summer day to test it and will reserve it to chilly weather. She has the cozy sweater weather vibe to me. It may be a bedtime, comfy grounding scent too. The oud here mimics truffle? I wasn’t expecting this sophisticated gem. $10 at Ross!

Smelled this at my local TJ Maxx and couldn't get it out of my head. Ended up going back the next day to purchase. It's a simple gardenia with something creamy below, followed by an addictively stanky oud base. Sometimes I catch a touch of Nutella. Perhaps a hint of pepper, but not much. I wear this in Spring and I love it. Sillage and longevity aren't great, but worth it if you find it for a bargain.

This is a must if you love creamy white florals. Great. Value for money.

I recently found this fragrance at my local Burlington, and having enjoyed “Rare Vanilla Blossoms” from this house very much, decided to give this one a try and blind-bought it. Now, I am definitely not a fan of Gardenia fragrances, since they don’t resonate with me, making me feel like it is a more womanly and mature/scent scent. But for some reason, this combination in the name of “Gardenia & Oud” along with the notes listed really piqued my interested. And for the price, there wasn’t much to loose. As soon as I sprayed this perfume, it reminded me immediately of a well known designer fragrance: Black Orchid by Tom Ford. I even decided to spray both side by side, and while in the opening they smell super similar (a few different nuances here and there), on they dry-down they smell extremely similar. If I were to close my eyes and smell this without knowing what it was, the first thing that would come to my mind is Black Orchid immediately. It just amazes me how similar they are. I don’t think this is a dupe, as I believe it wasn’t meant to be one. But truly, it smells so similar that anyone who has smelled Black Orchid will immediately recognize that dark, spicy, almost cola-like floral fragrance. A perfume that smells of Black Orchid for 9.99? An instant win. Truly, if you like the Tom Ford fragrance but for any reason don’t or can’t obtain it, get this. It will do great as a Black Orchid alternative on a budget. Longevity and projection extremely adequate for a 9.99 perfume. While clearly not a beast fragrance like Black Orchid, I believe the notes and composition make this fragrance stand out and stick around in a moderate way. Definitely worth checking out for Black Orchid fans or fans of darker/floral fragrances!

This is a great, affordable fragrance from the House of Jones New York. It contains a few of my absolute favorite notes, such as: gardenia, bergamot, coconut, and amber. I am a fan of Jones New York clothing, so when I saw the fragrance at a discount store, I did not hesitate to make the blind purchase. I also bought Signature Rose and Musk--I have not worn it yet. Classy, sophisticated, and distinguished--Signature Gardenia and Oud is a great addition to any collection. It is great to wear to the office and out to dinner for date night. Appropriate for all seasons, great silage, and moderate longevity--I've worn this fragrance twice. The second time I wore it was yesterday. I layered it with Bodycology's Pure White Gardenia for a summertime treat. These two worked wonderfully together. In my opinion, Signature Gardenia and Oud is a fantastic variation from the super-sweet gourmand fragrances that are uber popular nowadays. It is sexy, determined, and signature scent-worthy. Not a safe blind buy though--everyone cannot appreciate the magic that is gardenia.

This was extremely heavy on the oud against my body chemistry. It's for a mature woman for sure. During the drydown of the fragrance, the gardenia was prominent on my skin however, the oud note overpowered my skin. The scent lasted on my skin for about 4 hours and did not need to respray at all. I purchased this about two months ago and I just sprayed it on today. The barnyard scent was strong on my body chemistry and I like the oud note. Depending on how it's blended may have dictated why I just like it and not love it. I will have to pair this with a couple of fragrances I have with oud in it to see.

Caught this at a discount store for $5.99! Its such a pretty scent that can be layered to tone down but she definitely can stand alone! I think she can be worn year round but I think that about most things I wear so I can't really say for anyone else🤷🏾♀️

Oddly, this one turns toward sunscreen in the dry down. It's a pretty good cheapie (under $15 at Ross), decent quality.

Holy surprise! This was a very good find. A sweet, bubblegummy, coconutty white floral with a softly spiced background and aquatic accents -- this smells way better than it deserves to for a mere $10 a bottle. Smells like upscale Juicy Fruit gum in the best possible way, drying down to a cumin-ish, slightly sweaty [artificial, needless to say] oud. A quick note on some of the "This perfume reminds me of..." comparisons... - KK Signature is thinner and more citrusy overall, drying down to an oily white musk that resembles laundry. Gardenia & Oud is sweeter and spicier, though I do see the comparison, casually speaking. - Gucci Bloom is way greener, soapier, and more retro. I do not see the comparison much. Both are bubblegum-like at some point, but beyond that, I wouldn't compare them. - No, this is not much like Black Orchid, which smells to me like a cucumber dipped in chocolate. Perhaps there is a soft-spiciness in the drydown that evokes it, but for what it's worth, I find G&O way more pleasant than Black Orchid, (which I also like). Gardenia & Oud resembles Tocca Florence to me more than any of the aforementioned perfumes. However, G&O captures all the things I liked about Florence (bubblegummy white florals, bright fruitiness, soft powder) with none of the parts I hated (fusty floralcy and a distinctly pickled note). This is very pretty, slightly extroverted, and eminently creamy. If you see it, go for it.

Jones New York Gardena & Oud has strong, creamy gardenia/tuberose of Kim Kardashian's original scent + the underlying powdery woodiness -- maybe the oud? But smells to me more like some other wood -- of Al Haramain Junoon Noir. There's a sweet spiciness to the scent, plus a little coconut, that cut through the white floral woodiness. I'm trying to decide what I think of it; it's almost a strong like/love, but not quite... It starts out loud, rich, and gorgeous, but dries down fast to this thin, dry wood scent that I don't love and that smells a little like hot woods of a sauna (that's what ultimately put me off of Junoon Noir). I love hot wood saunas, but don't much like that effect in a perfume. I feel like maybe Gardenia & Oud would work better as a room fragrance than as one I, personally, would want to wear. I got it for around $10 at Ross, so it was an incredible bargain and may be worth a try if the scent profile sounds appealing and you find it as such a fantastic price.

I own this one! One of the strongest true & spicy pepper perfumes in my 200 bottle collection. To me this fragrance has ENORMOUS silliage & projection. This one to my nose has a very similar scent to KIM KARDASHIAN perfume (purple bottle) with a very strong black pepper. So spicy that a man who loves tuberose could wear & like because of it's heavy spicy note. I sprayed the box and had it next to me on my sofa, it sat there for 3 days and i could smell it each time I sat down. Spicy, Creamy,Tuberose fragrance in a nutshell.

I think this perfume opened the gate for me to start liking tuberose. I don't know why i used to hate it so much. I guess perfume taste changes as you keep sniffing more and more perfumes. This is a creamy white floral, dusted with coconut flakes, a bit woody too. It is gorgeous. Perfect for all weather seasons in my opinion.

The gardenia blooms creamy and bright, while the oud adds a gentle, warm depth ~ The rose note is fresh and sweet without being overpowering ~ 🌿💖 It sits close to the skin, gentle and easy to wear ~ ( ̄▽ ̄)ノ
