Joop! Homme Black King

This is a really good fragrance. Everything that can be said about this scent is all positive because there is nothing negative in it. From the opening it is really pleasant and enjoyable and it has stamina. Longevity and projection are excellent and I have to say, it smells beautiful throughout! Black King is a 9 out of 10 for me and I look forward to trying Red King (which arrives tomorrow!) as the reviews are all good about that one too! A high recommenation from me!

Very underrated fragrance. Apparently already discontinued (I was told this by the girl behind the counter when I was buying it) which makes it even more unknown and could be a signature scent. Quite a strong, spicy, masculine smell to this. Along the same vein as the original joop homme but I much prefer this. Good silage and longevity.

I recently sampled Wow! and Black King. Wow! I found to be pleasant but a little too metro sexual/feminine. Black King however is a different story. The original Joop! Homme dna is bright and sweet in the foreground then the leather and woods give this a rich, sophisticated, sexy edge over its predecessor. It does have a boozy-ness to it too but sufficiently different from Joop! Homme Wild which I also own and enjoy. Black King is a great flanker and here in the uk there's a half price deal at Boots (125mls for £26) so grab it while you can. Update: 30/01/2018: Just bought Cerruti Signature which reminds me of Joop Black King. I sprayed one on my right hand and the other on my left hand last night. Let them dry down for 30-40 minutes and then compared. Very similar. The same soft, spicy leathery-ness but the two do stand apart. Cerruti Signature is smoother, more well mannered and mildly sweet (maybe the Amber?) whereas Joop! Black King has a brighter almost impertinent synthetic floral top (maybe the Orange blossom?). These are like non-identical twins - definitely from the same blood line but can be easily told apart. Cerrutti Signature is for a date night with your better half and Joop! Black King is more of a clubbers fume.

So I'm very much keen on Joop. And bought Black King and Red King together. Black King is more of a flanker to Red King than Joop Homme itself and I personally prefer Red King. The reason why is that Black King is very unique. It's a decent scent, very peppery but not do much leather. The problem with this scent is that I think it's performance is poor. The top notes are class but the base is mediocre and not very Joopy. And that's fair enough , I'd give it s three as it's still better than a lot of other brands. It's an evening scent on a cool evening.

I just checked Fragrantica's database. From 1989-2001, Joop! released four masculines in total. Then, 2002-2005 saw two new masculines. Not counting the Wolfgang Joop brand but including Homme Chill Out which is not assigned to a year, there were no less than 21 releases since 2006, which means that this one is the twenty-second "new" masculine by this brand in just about ten years! This makes me wonder what we should expect. A sudden burst of creativity? A fragrantical revolution? Let's wait and see about this one, but I am skeptical... ()

Now I have tested it, and it's far better than its "red brother", but that doesn't say much. It is more in the vein of the cheap range of Bruno Banani than what used to be a luxury brand. But perhaps this perfectly reflects Joop!'s new business plan: To cash in on the the brand and sell out, as long as it sells overpriced. Shame. **

Hint of the original in the background, washed over with a leather, wood and slight spice. If you are after a more grown up manly version of the original, get this!

I wore Joop when i was in high school - i loved how sweet it was and it seemed to get a nice reaction. I was feeling a bit nostalgic so i pulled the trigger on this one since it's very cheap. For someone who hasn't smelled the original Joop in roughly 15 years, i can say that this definitely smells similar. It's only slightly less sweet with a little more spice. It's really difficult to detect individual notes - because this is extremely synthetic. With that said, because of the nostalgic value, i'm happy. If you enjoyed the original, but you're seeking something just slightly different, this will work. 6/10

This is awesome. Just got mine in, now let's just say this is basically a cinnamon and sandalwood forward fragrance enveloped in a thick white floral and rugged leathers Smells similar to red King and extreme. It's not listed but I smell notes of cinnamon, sandalwood, some kind of Incense (very very minimal) and some balsamic sweetness, perhaps benzoin or something similar It's awesome, fantastic If you can find a bottle for cheap go for it, otherwise this is a collectors piece. Especially since the prices have skyrocketed

This is an excellent fragrance at its price point ..it's got the joop d.n.a but laced with a pleasing if synthetic leather, very fruity..longivity is good and projection is good ..nothing beastly tho ..however it did fade and come bk throughout the 6 hours of note worthy performance so body heat does rekindle it's vibrancy. I could see this being good for dates and cosy nights in ..nights out maybe and suits autumn and winter ..need to give this more wearing tho and probably update my review ..otherwise a solid release.

This has been one SON OF A B**** To find. Really is a limited edition huh, nah shi Ended up paying around $200 AUD for one on ebay Let's see what Black King is all about! Very excited. I have red king and its been bugging me for 2 years that I have red king and not black king. Fragrance urges and OCD. Not a good mix Hey I'll let you know how it smells, spoilers.. it won't be $200 worth smelling, but I reckon its gonna smell nice regardless. Note breakdown seems promising.

Yessss this is it,one of the best makes from JOOP! it is more oriental fragrance then normal Joop! Homme,they are sharp opening with original smell of Joop! but few minutes later it turns into oriental easy scent that last for a very long time,,I have bottle of 125ml and it was only one left in local online acution webiste,i m glad that i decide to buy this one,it was worth to spend $50 USD for bottle of 125ml... Sillage 8/10 Longevity 8/10 Scent 10/10 Performance 9/10

Joop was my very first purchase back in the early 90s. It holds a special place for me, but i did get burnt out on it many years ago. This is my first trip back home. I immediately smell joop flat out, but it's toned down a bit. Not quite so loud. After that take a little bit of that sweet ch prive leather vibe and throw it in with some pepper, and you've got black king. I like it. Nothing amazing smells dated cause it's still primarily joop, but I like it.

If you really want an idea of how this smells, think Joop Homme x Salvador Dali Homme. Basically Dali with some added sweetness from the Joop. I just recieved my bottle today...thought it would be better (more pepper) but it's not bad. Still doesn't take the originals place, as sometimes only the original will do<>

I don't get leather at all. I pick up a little bit of pepper bit mostly soft florals. It's a clean soapy fragrance. The original DNA is here but barely. The bottle is nice. Overall it's average, nothing to write home about but decent as well for clean daily use frag.

Why do I only find Joop (original) and NEVER the red or black one? (Or even the WILD one?) I live in Texas, and I see the original everywhere, even Walmart, etc. PM me if you know.

I have almost all Joop! fragrances and i can't wait for this versions to come out,i'll be the first one to have a bottle of Black and Red :)
