Do nosso caderno

Epic Journey Into the Bottled Yonder, 241 ------------------------------------------------------- Purchased May 2017 I come to write right about my best friend in a bottle once more. Allow me to compose a prose. "Joop! Homme: The cheapest, most 2deep4u fragrance of all" Since wearing something else I always instantly feel I miss it, a rare feeling for yours truly. I've never loved it as much, unearthed its depth, figured out its textured composition, smelt it in its true contextual nature as if it were released yesterday and it was a blind buy without ever seeing the marketing and advertising, nor ever "figured it out!" as much as I have now. Joop has to have been one of the longest known fragrances to my sense of smell in my whole life, and I know too many. We were surrounded by fragrance, and I even remember the synthetic Impulse sprays my sisters loved. I know sweet scents, lots. A little too much. But Joop is not so sweet to me anymore, sure is sweet but it's a leather scent once you get to its roots. Leather tannins are made up of God knows how many essential oils, tree oils, bark resins and saps, waxes, earth/soil sourced properties and material - all natural. Leather products, the best, don't smell like skin. That would be revolting. Leather smells like what I mentioned above, and all tannins are a secret recipe, formula, and process. You will never know why my Ashland-Horween full shell cordovan #8 wallet still smells the way it did when brand-new in 2018. It's because it's a quality product treated to be the best and last longer than any other product in its category regardless of tannery or company. This is where "you get what you pay for" rings true. Do not ever buy a luxury product made carelessly and with disdain to all but profit. My batch from maybe 2014 still vividly echoes the original, as I've said I've known it my whole life like I know Ralph Lauren Polo. When one smells these things they are unmistakable; without objection Joop and Polo. Only in the past year I've been able to uncover and unearth what's inside of the magic formula which sadly has slid downmarket over the years. You all love sweet scents because of Joop, without it you would still be covered in the worst modern Drakkar Noir reformulations and your dad's Arko stick. They're not terrible scents but allow me to go one further: without Brut (it's always been somewhat sweet for no amber or resin) Joop probably never would have been conjured. My point is the variety in the world of what's possible to coat or cover your skin would be very slim. Not everybody can wear nor appreciate Antaeus and that's fine - half the time I <- love it <- and the other half it's disgusting - we ought to be grateful somebody shook up the "industry"/art in 1989. Not just love, a reason to be born. Batch: 1474644132, guessing it's from 2014 due to this not selling fast at the time I bought it. It was popular in the 2000s and early 2010s in my part of the world. - Pronounced: Yaw-p / yope. It's a German name. - - Shout-out: JM300838 for giving me the courage to further examine Joop this year. I never had done so before.

In the world of fragrance, ultimately, certain scents are inherently polarizing, because the sad reality is that many people have been hypnotized by the delusional idea that some scents are "too strong." Imagine, if you even can, a cinephile arguing a film is "too good," or a baker describing their cookies as "too delicious." The idea is inherently absurd, and that's exactly what the people who consistently tarnish the reputation of this lovely fragrance are, absurd. Joop! is sweet, Joop! is loud, Joop! is the wail of a Stuka, dropping it's sensual bombs on an unprepared public, and for someone like me, it is an almost perfect creation, an elixir from the heavens too powerful for lesser men to dare to wear. Forget the naysayers, who tell you this spicy, sweet, and sexy scents is too powerful for more then a spray or two! Disregard the ramblings of lesser men, who buy into the nonsense about causing migraines or offending those who don't understand us. Embrace the power of this fragrance, in each and every stage of it's beautiful evolution. I'm a young man, in the prime of my life, and believe me, I've never gotten complaints, even when I wear several generous sprays, because this scent radiates confidence. If you're awkward, stick to the office scents, let ue extroverts revel in the power we exude as we fill the room with power! When you first spray it on, it's the best kind of artificial, a statement, chemical ecstasy, but as the scent dances with your skin, it becomes ever sweeter, gentler, and more sensual. The Stuka becomes a flower, just as bones ultimately dissolve into dust, and eventually, you're left with a comforting sensation. It's life in best form, the birth, adulthood, and death are a spiritual experience, and if you haven't experienced the orgasmic power of this fragrance at full effect, you haven't lived. Joop! is cheap, powerful, and bold. It's a stripper so beautiful you forget your wife exists, it arrests you and rolls you into it's warmth, and if you're a hot-blooded man with desire, it leads you forward, ever forward, toward endless victory. When you wear Joop!, you tell the world that you aren't afraid, aren't ashamed, and most importantly, aren't ever going to back down. I highly recommend this, it's one of my perennial go-tos for a reason! Break the mental shackles the cowards in the fragrance community have placed on you, embrace the freedom of Joop!

I used to think this one smelled like a clown's fart. First a short story: Back in the 90's, Joop! was absolutely everywhere. And I hated it. Every club or bar that you went into, someone was BATHING in the stuff. Every time I went to the department store to pick up a frag, the SA would push this one on me. No thanks. I wore and loved cologne back then too, but I just couldn't figure out why anyone would wear this one. It was sticky sweet and had this strange bung smell to it. Until about a month ago, it was the only scent I could think of that I actually hated. Then something changed. Recently, I was talking with a colleague and I noticed he was wearing Joop!, yet very lightly. I immediately thought, "Good grief," but then I decided to silently explore the scent as we were talking. I'm not sure what it was, what notes I was picking out, but this was not the fragrance that I hated. It smelled much more complex and sensual, and very, very good. "I have to get a bottle of this stuff," I thought to myself, disbelievingly. A few weeks later, I picked up a bottle at a local perfume shop, rushed to the car, and sprayed under my shirt. What happened next was magic. The scent opens up with an incredible, almost three-dimensional kaleidoscopic black cherry note. A few moments later, a very lusty jasmine opens up (this was the "funk" smell that I used to hate and was not able to identify) and then everything comes together in a very smooth, pink/purple/red-light glow of a scent: cardamom, vanilla, patchouli, honey, sandalwood. I'm not sure how to describe it, but it is complex, masculine, and very sensual. Very well blended and it lasts all night long. This one is certainly a love/hate scent, and like others in the category (e.g., Kouros, A*Men) the less you apply, the better. Like another reviewer noted, one shot of this is almost too much. Its power, projection, and longevity are legendary. Yet, at the same time there is something about the scent that begs to be sprayed and sprayed, hence the problem. Needless to say, one shot is plenty. Two if you are wearing a sweater. Three only if you have an Andy Kaufmanesque sense of humor. This is without a doubt my biggest 180 ever, but I am more than happy to have made that turn.

This is my first fragrance review ever so try to be bare with me here. First of all wat can i say about Joop!, i've had it for a month now and let me tell you, its THE sexiest fragrance i have ever wore. This stuff is magic, the effect it has on people and the aura it surroundes you in, its a heavenly experience. When you First spray Joop! on, you get a very strong and "in your nose" citrus blast, full of bergamont and lemons, and sweetened up by cinnamon. Its a refreshing start, just like jumping in a pool for the first time. Then after a few minutes (5-15 minutes), it becomes really sweet, and by sweet i mean the cinnamon start getting stronger and the florals start blossoming on your skin. Heliotrope gives it that "cherry pie" smell while jasmine gives it a sultry feel to it, with orange blossom keeping it warm and spicy. The drydrown starts in about an hour or two after application, here is my FAVORITE PART. Behind the middle floral, warm, balmy notes, vanilla starts to make its angelic entrance by putting the notes where they belong before it shows itself. This phase is EXTREMELY SEXY AND INTOXICATING. The vanilla here is the icing on the "cake" this scent is. Honey and tobacco come to linger, giving it a mature masculine edge, which is what keeps you sniffing around yourself trying to inhale it all in. After 4-6 hours, it softens up, gets cuddly and soft after being dominant and powerful, just like how i interpret myself sometimes (personal refernce to add fondness). Its leaves a smooth vanilla honey tobacco combo on your skin that lasts and lasts till you shower. As for projection and longivity, well there is no trouble there, AT ALL. 3-4 sprays is all i do around my neck, one on my chest sometimes, and im letting everyone know im a confident young man who knows his cologne. This IS the ultimate female attractor, NO DOUBT ABOUT IT, this will get the ladies and girls closer to you gentlemen, it should come as a guarantee with the bottle! Never lets me down. So give it a try, its a warm, sensual, alluring, creamy, and mature heavenly experince, every man, or woman sniffing this on a man, should have ;)

Just bought this Classic again, after my last bottle finished in like 2019. Saw some Tik tokers call this out for being an unwearable mess of a fragrance, and I was like what in the fragrance god's name is going on? Joop to me is still a honey drenched cinnamon sandalwood combo filtered through a haze of white florals with a veil of vanilla. It's been a scent I got of my uncle's in the late 90s and early 2000s, and I always found it a banger in terms of projection and longevity, and I wanted it to be my scent after I finished school, (and I made it my scent two years before I could matriculate, because I could not hold back on not having the scent any longer). When I used to spray it I would go Two sprays max for school and my classmates and teachers would always tell me I smell amazing (especially the girls and ladies), and to be honest I never found the scent too strong on me ( I was already using Amen back then). Anyway long story short and I've always had a bottle in my collection since. In 2019 when my last bottle finished I just moved on to other fragrances and forgot about this masterpiece in sweet oriental colognes, up until I saw those Tik tok videos and I was like I loved this cologne back then and after COVID I just seemed to have moved on, so I got a bottle and lo and behold and back in love with JOOP!, now I will make sure to always have a bottle in my collection, the scent itself is still the same, just a little less potent and longevity is down from 14 hours before to now lasting 7-9 hours, with a not so huge projection as before. As for Compliments, well I can vouch that girls and ladies still love it, so I am perplexed as to what these bad reviews on Tik tok are about. Simply put if you love sweet orientals you would love or like this, if you love anything other than sweet orientals, then stay away and let it be. It's a classic in this day and age and it is still head and shoulders above many fragrances that cost way more than this Cheapie. I am sorry that I left you for a while JOOP!, well I have got you back and I will never let you get away again. 9.5/10

I am a lover of perfumery. Out of my collection of 66 something odd perfumes, I can't even count five that I genuinely dislike; and as badly as the fragrance community trashes Joop! Homme, I find no reason to abhor it. Quite the contrary, I can only find reason to love and praise it. And as a fragrance enthusiast, I fail to see how these so called fragrance conaseuirs within this community can refuse to give Joop! Homme the flowers it deserves. It's like some of y'all can't formulate your own opinions with your own noses, and just regurgitate the same tired clichés simply because it's hyper popular to hate on iconic perfumes. I am betting the only reason the community trashes this perfume is because the price point. Place this in a $400 niche bottle and you clowns would goon over this; oh wait, Creed already did that with Original Santal, and you posers do goon over it 🤦🏻 3.37 rating. Come on, get real. We are talking iconic perfumery, that has been on the shelves since 1989. Meanwhile you posers are praising fragrances that have been discontinued after 5 years of production because they couldn't gain any traction. We are talking about groundbreaking perfumery that paved the way for perfumes like Le Male, Reflection Man, Naxos, Eros, A*Men Pure Havane Mugler, Original Santal, Gucci Guilty Elixir, Pegasus, One Million, etc., You posers have to be challenged to hate on the OG yet praise the numerous copies. And you clowns do this with all the iconic perfumes that have reached God-tier popularity. Y'all do this with Sauvage and Eros and One million and the list goes on and on and on. You posers love to hate, and I don't consider y'all fragrance conaseuirs. If you can't respect the path finding classics, then you aren't really enthusiastic about fragrances. If you can't appreciate the groundbreaking perfumes that created evolutionary trends within fragrances, then you have 0 respect for this artistry and 0 respect for the talented artists that have graced us with the luxury of being able to smell good. Just a bunch of haters and posers

I tried to force my girlfriend to love this fragrance. It did not go well. She recoiled. Said it was way too feminine, too flamboyant — at one point she straight up called it "gay perfume." And I stood there defending it with everything I had: "this is what the playboys of the 2000s wore," "this is a legendary seducer scent," and so on. You know, fighting the good fight. Then I actually looked into it. Wolfgang Joop is openly gay, and the ad campaigns for this thing have always been dripping with lush, unapologetically homoerotic, beautifully androgynous imagery. Joop Homme didn't come out of the cigarette-and-soil, man's-man school of masculinity, it came out swinging against it. My girlfriend wasn't insulting it. She was reviewing it more accurately than I was. And honestly? That made me love it more. Because the juice matches the attitude. It doesn't smell like anything else and I still struggle to pin it down: a big loud vanilla, maybe some red fruit, maybe a whiff of tobacco, and powder, so much powder. If you forced me, I'd call it a barbershop that's been exaggerated, hyped up, pushed on stage under pink neon. A showman that refuses to be stopped. It's warm, restless, playful, flirty. It moves, it dances. It never once apologizes for itself. The best way I can describe wearing it: a handsome one-night stand that never compromises on who he is. You don't bring it home to meet your parents. I mean, that was never the plan anyway.

Joop! Was NOT a coming-of-age fragrance for me, I was born in 89. But I remember it. Whenever I smell this, I'm reminded...of, well...grown men (or at least grown enough for me, teens would've seemed like adults when I was a toddler). Not intimidating men, but welcoming, protective, safe men. It scratches some sort of latent and subconscious feeling. I don't find it *attractive* (not that it's unattractive, but my imprinting of this occured before I was into guys in *that* way), but I do find it extremely fun, oddly masculine (for the notes, on paper this seems like it would be femme), nostalgic and comforting. I think my uncle might've worn this. Each time I smell it, I think of him...hanging out in his garage with my plastic dinosaurs while he fixed his dirt bike. Maybe it's because this has a slight plasticky (in a good way) undertone? It's not something I even care to do a note breakdown on; it's a wall of powdery, youthful, electric sweetness. So, so feel-good...verging on euphoric. My favorite fragrance is Angel, but JOOP! is almost a male counterpart. Not in scent at all, but in philosophy. In vibe. In spirit. It hits me in the soul. Please respect this, it's lighthearted in personality, but heavy in presence. It's a true love for me, always will be.

These losers love Creed Original Santal and Initio Addictive Vibration when both of them are a clone of Joop Homme EDT. Get a life losers. Every time I wear this I get compliments from women in their 20s. Every time they say "Wow". Its definitely not an "old" scent, it smells better to this day than Creed Santal. Its like these LOSERS can't think for themselves, they read a few negative comments from clowns and say to themselves "OH so the popular thing is to shit on this fragrance so thats what I'm going to do". Joop Homme in 2026 is still a heavy hitter and modern fougere scent. It will never go out of style because it's timeless. Stop repeating words you dont even agree with. Closing? No it's not, Joop Homme EDP is most definitely cloying. Look at @CRX review. I agree with him, I have expensive niche perfumes and Joop Homme EDT gives me just as much compliments. Bought the 6oz bottle in 2024, still smells excellent. Nothing compared to the vintage bottle in the early 2000s, that was my shit, but it's about 70-80% there. Still a modern F-Boy non-barbershop fougere. Its a timeless classic. Strong projection and longevity. I get 6 hours of projection/sillage and stays on skin all day until night. Definitely a Masterpiece.

This smells very nice overall, not sure what's so polarizing. Maybe that "bengayish" "mouthwashy" smell at the opening, or the old man citrus cardamon patchouli vetiver with all the old lady white florals sandalwood surrounded by a sweet cloud of vanilla/tonka/heliotrope/honey and the warmth of the cinnamon tobbaco... Blending into what it blends, smelling how it smells - like the suite of an old fraghead married couple after coitus. Long lasting unisex love in a bottle. Projection is good, my bottle is really new and the longevity is not as expected on skin from all the reviews here - maybe they reformulated and it's not as beast as it was before, something that could be a plus for people that would be annoyed by too much of it. 3 sprays are more than enough because of the projection, makes it a very economical fragrance as well as being affordable - I paid less than 18 bucks for 125ml (4.4 oz) Update 10/01/2025: Layered with some Lapidus Pour Homme - I had Lapidus from around noon. Around 7 hours later, before going out to the pub, I applied some Joop! Homme. The dried down base of Lapidus with the refreshing sweetness from the Joop are very interesting together.

Forget about the performance legend this fragrance once was, Coty and the IFRA have finally killed it, 6 hour longevity MAXIMUM on skin, a few days on clothes, but still quite weak for what it once was (Batch 4187). With that said, yep, Joop! Homme smells like some cherry or grape flavored cough syrup with a hint of vanilla and smokey tobacco; and that's what makes it special, it's a german 1989 clubbing fragrance and it smells just like that, basically the excess of some 90s European clandestine techno club in a bottle. To me it is a complete masterpiece and one of my favorites without a doubt, it has some reminiscences with Le Male by JPG but with the added notes of smokey tobacco (like a room where someone has been smoking cigarettes) mandarin, and a very good dose of heliotrope which gives it that grape or cherry syrup smell. In my opinion, a fragrance that is worth giving it a smell once in a lifetime, I just wish it still performed like it used to. All in all, Joop! Homme is, like I always say, a 50 50 bet, you'll either love it, or hate it, but you'll never forget it.

Holy MACKEREL, what an all-timer! Sweet, but not cloying. Surprisingly herbaceous and aromatic for the listed notes, but it's not remotely screechy, clashingly green, or old-fashioned. There's something timelessly new about this. I'm surprised this isn't regarded similarly as CK One. I know it's well-loved, but I'm surprised it doesn't have a cultural footprint that compares to other 90s scents that are masterfully balanced mixtures of daring and approachable. Fresh without being a freshie. A bright citrus opening that's given surprising depth by the orange blossom. It's very vibrantly orange blossom. But not at all in a soapy, girlish neroli way. A beautiful cinnamon floral bolstered by the tonka and vanilla. Just gets better and better as it dries down, whipping-in the profundity of the tobacco, patchouli, and sandalwood. I really love this.

If you didn't get your nose on the original way back when You missed out on the most nuclear gormand WTF scent ever. I have an original series bottle 89-91 and a 96 ish edition by Lancaster. One is still a bit pink the other a dark blue purple hue. Whatever excuse for Joop Coty if peddling now is a weak imitation of something once great ...aka Muhamad Ali's last fight. That was the man that was once the Great Muhamad Ali in the ring for the $. Such is modern chemistry IFRA regulations and "dont make em like this no more"...and never will. This was Almairacs Greatest hit. Just the hate makes it a classic. It took me forever to wear this with confidence and I am glad my old bottles will stank me up oldschool until i drop dead. Never duplicated never imitated. Joop was and always will be King of Stank!!

A 90s classic and still relevant. I can discern no real difference between the first bottle I purchased in 1994 and the most recent bottle I bought a few months ago. This sublime fragrance smells exactly as it always has - challenging, distinctive, invasive and provocative. Longevity and sillage is still nuclear. It's not for everyone - it will completely overwhelm snowflakes, hipsters and the wokerati. They can stick to their generic, unisex, overpriced, niche but instantly forgettable fragrances - this is for individuals who eschew labels and ignore trends. Be an individual. Be brave. Let Joop Homme challenge you and then let it choose you. Compliments will follow.

Smells fantastic...but doesn't last long, maximum 2 hours even on my clothes but it doesn't matter because its pretty cheap and you can respray all the time without feeling guilty . As for the hate bandwagon most people are on i just don't get it. Everyone that smelled this at my work and my circle loved it. Even 3 of my colleagues bought it after smelling it and told me its a very unique and easy fragrance. People just love to hate...reminds me of nirvana or bon jovi. Everyone claims they hate them but always sing when they come to the radio. There is a reason this fragrance exists for so many years and other 'good' and 'expensive' ones have been discontinued.

Love this one. Cherry, cinnamon, and shaving cream. It is definitely in the Kouros camp: you either totally love it, or you find it unbearable and disgusting. And I totally understand. I hated it when it came out and thought that it smelled like a clown fart. However as time went on and I got older, it just smelled different to me: bold, unique, sweet, yet with a strange soapy drydown reminiscent of a barbershop. And it is BEAST AF and projects like no tomorrow. Great for the winter months and smells like a good time is about to happen. Legendary stuff.
- em inglês
Feeling nostalgic, so I busted out my old, dusty, Lancaster bottle to give it a smell. Heliotrope, cinnamon, coumarin, patchouli bomb. Ansolute beast of a fragrance. Believe it or not, my previous bottles in the early 90's were even stronger than this one one I have in my hand, which is 17 years old. This was groundbreaking at the time because men didn't wear heliotrope, and they certainly didn't wear vanilla. A monster perfume that brings back memories of me choking people out (from fragrances) as a 12 year old boy, before I knew any better 😂
- em inglês
Hard to hate on this, lots to like. It's only not a love because I'm playing hard to get. It's a sweet I can tolerate to be outside without feeling feminine like current Gen Fluid unisex sweet gourmand fragrances. With some patience, if you can let a bottle mature, let your nose accommodate into the scent, let the scent settle for a bit on your skin... I actually think even the haters can start to appreciate what Joop! has to offer Update 01/14/2026: Changed this to LOVE, this scent is out of this world and deserves higher rating.
- em inglês
Female fan here. Joop is not a restrained, balanced, refined scent but it is distinct, loud, sweet and knows what it is about. Yeah, it may be worn at high volume by spotty teenagers and men out on the pull but...so is Sauvage, Aventus, Boss Bottled [insert flanker here] and Whateverthefuck Elixir Intense Ultime EDP. Found at all British pharmacies and discount cosmetic stores for sub-£20, but also found on my 70-something uncle in 2025 and my husband in 2011. Not the best, but somehow it also cannot be beaten.

A legendary fragrance. Despite the online hate, it’s a compliment magnet; I've had stunning 10/10 women stop to tell me I smell good. It’s also the scent I wore when I met my girlfriend (the love of my life and future wife), who is an absolute Italian bombshell. If it’s good enough for a woman who looks like she stepped off the cover of Italian Vogue and is probably the most beautiful woman to ever walk the Earth, it’s a 10/10 for me.
