Wolfgang Joop

Just recieved my bottle this morning. I sampled a bit on my hand and I can still smell it 9 hours later and I have had my hands in and out of warm soapy water and I can still smell it. For me this started out with a sudden sharp burst immediately after spraying (a pleasant sharp burst may I add) then it mellowed into a sensual oriental smell. I cannot help but sniff the back of my hand constantly. Very surprised that this hasn't had more reviews. Underrated fragrance in my opinion. It has a classic but modern smell I am 25 and I feel very comfortable wearing it. I smell a VERY SLIGHT similarity to TL Altamir. I like both but Wolfgang is much more refined and expensive smelling. I hate to age categorize but I would recommend for ages 25+ but hey anyone can wear what they want if they like it. I give this fragrance a well deserved 9/10

Spicy powdery clean fragrance with touches of patchouli and woody notes in dry down. The second joop’s best fragrance (after Rococo) imho. An autumn afternoon in a bottle, even the color of bottle was correctly chosen. Age:+25 Casual 4/5 Moderate lasting and fair projection.

I think that this is a VERY underrated fragrance.It smells really sweet fruity and flowery.Easily a unisex perfume.For a strange reason i cant get enough longetivity on this one.After 3 hours im smelling a little of this.Joops never has letted me down! Overall score 8.5/10

This is surprisingly good juice, it's longevity impressed me most of all the perfumes I have tried to date. Very unique which is love, nice for a change from most of the boring same old same old perfumes available these days.

Ooh. I've been treated here to another Louise Turner gem. So I appreciate on fragrantica, I'm a bit of a Joop fanboy, but what that means in practise is that I somewhat treat the Joop family somewhat harshly, like an errant father judging his son for the way he raises his kids. So what is this first of all? This is probably a mix of old old old school Joop and LaCroix Amber. It's such a lovely warm smell. I think this is what Joop Wow! was trying to imitate but failed. The opening is overwhelming as a classic woody gourmand scent. I actually thought it was ginger rather than lavender and orange. I actually think it's not that good, it's a simple scent but good quality performance wise and very unique in the market. I think Burberry Brit may have a similar sense but not really But the Joop DNA drydown is unmistakable and this is what makes me very happy. This will not be a people pleaser, but it pleases me and my frenetic taste. The Joop DNA is being tortured right now so to have this is like going back to your roots. I don't really know about the orange, it doesn't come across at all as a citrus note. Id wear this when I need a hug.. Bottle is elegant and classy. It shaped like a salt shaker but you get a decent spray. It feels very well made

This scent is gorgeous. The top notes are quite fresh and sharp (probably the lavender) and, to some extent, remind me of Joop Homme's opening. But the drydown is sweet, warm and sexy with a lovely round vanilla/cinnamon note. Oh, and let me assure you it does not smell like christmas cookies at all! :-) I would categorize this perfume as a warm and woody oriental. I agree, this one is somehow unisex and non-offensive at all. My husband gets a lot of compliments wearing this perfume and I would looove to sit next to someone wearing this fragrance on the train! I rate this scent as one of my top 10 men's scents ever and I am VERY picky with men's fragrances. Guys, give this beauty one a chance, please!

Another splendid fougere of unisex appeal. I can't get enough of this fragrance, it is so positive and uplifting. I was lucky to spot it at a low price so I'm even more happy with this blind purchase. It is inoffensive and good for all seasons because it is more on the refreshing sweet than warm sweet side. And yes, this is so much more interesting than some feminine fragrances that I often resort to oriental fougeres seeking consolation in this category. Just lovely.

When we had a sample here I found it to be a nice, warm, positive, orange-and-spices scent. But my husband didn't like it. So no bottle followed the sample :)

It's so warm and spicy, love it. I believe women can wear it as well for me this one is absolutely unisex.

@Colin Maillard: I agree that German fashion brands don't perform well these days when it comes to masculine fragrances. Perhaps the low point you forgot to mention is the Bruno Banani range, which is cheap and smells cheap, but sells by the bucketload. However, I'd like to add that this phenomenon is relatively new. In the 1990s and early 2000s, at least Joop! and in particular Escada did create some decent masculines. But these days, Joop! sells out and Escada has long ceased to offer masculines. Which gives you the impression that German brands should be avoided altogether. Which is as shame, really, because Joop!'s current offerings such as Homme and Jump are just cheap reflections of what they used to be, and I wish there were some modern successors to Escada's classics such as Homme, Silver Light, and the legendary Magnetism. From today's perpective, this scent by the brand of Wolfgang Joop marks a turning point. When it came out I was attracted by the brand but then really disgusted the first time I tested it, which is now almost a decade ago. By the way, did you notice that the German fashion industry as such is in a crisis, too? Their brands once stood for good quality for professional use, suited for Central European conditions. Today they are just boring at best. Something better change soon. *

I really dislike this one. It is very spicy and smells cheap. It also has a 80 ́s vibe to it, but not in a good way. It is quite vulgar in my opinion. A lumberjack fragrance, lacking in complexity and balance. Thank God sillage is not so heavy and it fades rather quickly. Maybe if the cinnamon were more prominent it would have been a better perfume, but i can ́t smell much of it.

I thought Joop! could do no wrong, but this one is a letdown. I don't dislike it, I hate it. There are only a few scents that make me avert my nose, and this is one of them. *

Wolfgang Joop is correctly classified as an oriental fougere. You have it all here: the oriental part of woods and patchouli and the fougere part of lavender and coumarin (which isn't listed). The scent is warm and smooth, modern with a classic feeling. I would say it's rather marketed to older audience. Personally - I dislike it. I dislike the fougeres with strong coumarin note, and here I can smell a lot of it. It makes a fragrance somewhat sour-sweet to my nose, which I find awful. But I do see someone loving it :)

Had a chance to test it recently. For me its quite resembled to Joop! Jump (2005). Even Joop! Jump is more seductive, well balanced and bears character of its own. While WolfGang is more towards maturity and had variations of Woods & Spices but can't be said "Jump out of your suit"!!

I had a chance to try this one in Germany. Such a warm, gentle, nice, and pieceful scent. Just like the poster, Wolfgang Joop scent is a truthful open arms of someone who really want to get close to you. Anyway, I do not like the bottle. It look too feminin and old-fashion.

Great, smoothly mature scent with a nice personality. Has its aura! I like it a lot! May seem safe at first but when re-sniffing, its personality shines through as you start to recognize the scent! Yummy! Addictive as well!

Wolfgang Joop for men is a really good one from joop & all i can smell is the heavy orange & the lavender which is really good. Longevity : up to 8 hours. Sillage : up to 6 hours. Bottle Design : 6/10. Price : comparative.

Reminds me of paco rabanne 1 million .
