Psychoterratica III 2020

朋友因為不習慣而轉送給我的,沒想到竟意外撿到寶,這完全是我超愛的「極致乾燥」! 起頭是非常輕微的泥煤藥感,伴隨著煙燻與濕潤的土壤氣息。原先期待它會模擬出艾雷島威士忌的味道,那味道有模擬出來的話應該蠻讚的,雖然泥煤表現比較含蓄,但那種氛圍還是很迷人。 香氣接著從燃燒後的木頭餘燼,慢慢轉向更乾燥、且帶有一絲清涼藥感的根莖氣息,非常深邃。整體的意境很有層次,像是一步步往森林沼澤深處走去,濕土與草本的氣息愈發強烈。 聞起來有一種讓心靈沉澱的平靜感。初聞瞬間讓我想起 Hiram Green 的 Hyde,但這支的煙燻感更輕盈、更透氣。 如果你也愛這種乾燥煙燻藥感,這支絕對會中! A friend passed this on to me because it wasn't their cup of tea, but I unexpectedly struck gold—this is exactly that "bone-dry" profile I absolutely adore! It opens with a faint peaty, medicinal note, accompanied by hints of smoke and damp earth. I was originally hoping for an Islay whisky vibe—while the peat expression is subtle, the atmosphere it creates is still captivating. The aroma shifts from the embers of burnt wood to a deep, dry, rooty scent with a cooling medicinal nuance. The imagery is richly layered, like walking deep into a forest swamp where scents of wet soil and herbs intensify. It carries a grounding sense of peace. At first sniff, it instantly reminded me of Hyde by Hiram Green, but the smokiness here is lighter and airier. If you love this kind of dry, smoky, medicinal vibe, this one will definitely hit the spot!

VERY birch tar/cade heavy, it's hard to discern other notes here under the thick haze of it. The black pepper is the only other note that comes through for me until the drydown, when there is more sweetness from the cardamom and sweatiness from the saffron. I enjoy smoky perfumes and I still found this to be pleasant, but a bit more refrain with the birch tar to bring out additional nuances from other materials could have kicked this up a notch. Reminds me of Arborist after several hours.

Psychoterratica III is a smoke lovers dream. This starts with a ton of smoke and frankincense. There’s also a bit of cardamom and a slight hint at juniper hidden behind the plumes of smoke. There’s a dark earthiness in the drydown that I believe is due to a combination of oud and a ton of high quality vetiver. The vetiver is of course on the darker and smokier side, opposed to the almost soapy clean scent it sometimes has in other compositions. Castoreum and oakmoss are two of my favorite notes, and they’re detectable here as well. Think of the drydown as the smoldering remains after a huge forest bonfire. Overall the scent reminds me of peat, Islay malt whisky (minus the alcohol, but that’s likely going to be most people’s experience with peat. Think Ardbeg, Laphroaig, and Caol ILA, if you’ve tried any.) I’m also reminded of birch/pine tar soap with that heavy smoldering smokiness. I think you have to love smoke to really enjoy this. That said, if you enjoy them like I do than this might just be one of the best! I wish I had more than 15ml. 8.75 out of 10

Yeah this is super smoky! I just got my bottle today & sprayed it & my wife came out of the other room to ask me if I smelled a fire. To me, the cardamom is actually quite prominent at the beginning.
