Trimerous

Smooth, creamy, and dreamy. This is comfort and a warm hug in a bottle. This is the powder bomb I have been searching for in my last 2 years of smelling perfume (short time compared some of you seasoned veterans I know), but man is this good. This smells like a memory. A memory of the fall or harvest festival with your friends or significant other. The air is slightly crisp as you walk around in your cozy sweater and light suede jacket with jeans. The wind carrying the smell of the woods and juniper thorns from the forest surrounding the park where the festival is in. The slight smell of sweet nectarine, honey-d and sweet deserts, juxtaposed with the musk of the peoples around your created by the carrot seeds, musk, and ambergris; all of these notes the backbone to the iris. Creating a powdery, creamy, almost foggy haze over the whole scent making it memory like. Like how you remember the major details, but all the little things and details have become romanticized and in the background. The iris goes through multiple different versions of iris throughout the fragrance, from effervescent and bright to entirely thick and syrup-y smooth. The woods and juniper notes become more prominent as it dries down, never overtaking the iris but certainly still noticeable. The date or gathering you had at the festival moving to the final walk in the woods back home, a beautiful and happy end to a beautiful and happy day. Trimerous was such a surprise for me, it's nothing else like Jorum has to offer. Most of Jorum's library of scents are bold, different, and statement makers, which I really enjoy and love to wear. This one is so soft though, it's a fragrance I would wear when I know I look good, but I don't need others to tell me I look good. Decent longevity, 6-7 hours depending on what you're doing. Great silage, I get a good 6 feet or so; but not a in your face 6 feet like most "beast mode" fragrances are, but a wispy and ethereal 6 feet that takes time for people to notice. Fall through mid spring, mostly because the woods might get a bit heavy under the summer heat. Day or Night, but I would prefer daytime myself. Unisex. I hope to make even more memories with this scent. 9/10

there aren’t good enough words to explain just how immensely beautiful this perfume is. i am in love. it is by far the best orris fragrance i’ve yet to come across. infact, i didn't realise how much i loved iris as a note until i smelt this. it’s so earthy, nutty and creamy, not at all powdery. so earthy but in such a gentle way. thick, buttery, silky smooth white suede & orris root swirling around subtly sweet apricot compote. it’s hard to pick apart each of the notes, because they all work together so effortlessly, but they’re all there. carrot seed, angelica, pink pepper, musk.... the blend is insanely smooth. it’s a stand out in comparison to the rest of jorum studios perfumes because they are generally so boldly expressive and complex. trimerous isn’t bold. it doesn’t demand much thought or reflection and does not grab attention. it’s minimalist, effortless and ever so elegantly ethereal. it’s the sort of perfume that makes you smell nice, rather than you just smelling like you’re wearing a nice perfume.. if that makes sense? it is somehow cold, yet simultaneously warm. i feel like it would be a dream to wear in winter especially. like a soft fluffy hug. it just melts right into the skin and envelops you for hours and hours in a blissful blanket of joyful warmth. i’m gonna cherish my samples of it until i get a full bottle. it’s simply divine!!! 🤍🤎💜🧡 jorum studio i love you.

My all-time favorite perfume is Athenaeum, also by Jorum, but when I crave something a little softer but just as complex, I reach for Trimerous. At first I found it a bit rubbery or plasticky, but as I’ve learned more about orris root, I’ve come to appreciate that Euan McCall simply doesn’t sand down the rougher, sharper, weirder edges of this dense, multifaceted material. This is a beautiful, naturalistic love letter to orris. Contrary to my first impression, it’s not at all scratchy or synthetic. It’s chic and elegant without getting too buttoned-up. Like all of Jorum’s scents, it has a nostalgic, lived-in quality, evoking the texture and emotional atmosphere of a very specific time and place. The dusty, powdery notes are a touch melancholic, but they’re balanced with a bright, effervescent sparkle. Versatile and nuanced, it could be worn by anyone, on any occasion, in any season. Moderate sillage and projection, giving a kind of quiet luxury that doesn’t come across as try-hard. It’s what I imagine Louise Glück must have smelled in the air when she wrote The Wild Iris.

Oh god that's just the best iris/orris I ever tried. This is soooo clean, so fresh, official, dry, powdery, violet, lipsticky... Mwah, it just exudes cold, power, powder, water in a way. The iris, backed by some floral and herbal aspects is rounded up with a light, mouthwatering, not sweet nectarine. Amazing. Light, airy, natural, declassing everyone in the iris game. Forget Dior Homme, too sweet. This crushes them all. But. Price to performance ratio. This is way too expensive for the performance it gives you. You'll go through the bottle like hell. So, so sad for me as I don't collect, I use, and when I get bored, I sell and buy another. This, on the value perspective, is not worth it for me. But on the pure heart-led perspective this is worth my kidney. Absolute unisex, everytime, everywhere, office safe. I'm gonna dream about it tonight.

This has very quickly become my favorite presentation of Orris. It's absolutely joyful - bursting with a juiciness that swirls around the creamy central suede-orris accord but doesn't overindulge in sweetness. It has powdery characteristics but also feels somehow dewy and alive, the carrot seed adding a sort of high-definition clarity to the blend that feels effortlessly chic and very modern. There's a spa-like feeling to the whole composition, like you've just sat down in a hotel sauna - not the woodiness of the paneled walls, but the atmosphere: relaxing, gentle, slightly steamy, maybe the slightest hint of chlorine in the air but none of the chemical burn that usually accompanies it. It's a refreshing and clever (the word that sits at the front of my mind with everything Euan McCall does) take on Orris, and incredibly easy to love.

A bit of a strange herbal opening but this is all about the middle phase and drydown. Silvery, sweeted, juicy suede with orris and iris. Smells very luxurious and very very good. Evokes the image of a grey fur stola. I'm a Chanel girl and this has some Chanelesque aspects, must be the iris. Reminds me a lot of Bottega Veneta but without the mossy aspect and more refined. Thankfully there is no perceptible oud. The vanilla in the base is apparent on my skin, which I really like. It never becomes a sweet perfume, though. The quality reminds me of Francesca Bianchi, but I fear perfomance is not as good as hers. This needs to be tested on skin because on my blotter the herbal bitter note remained for a long time and that was my least favorite part. On my skin this was gone after 30 minutes though.

Quirky is beautiful and wonderfully unexpected (even intimate) and Trimerous is the perfect example of those qualities blended into a buttery earthy but somehow salty effervescent orris fragrance that I can't stop spritzing all over. It's unlike anything in my museum-sized collection and I'm transfixed with how the warmth of my skin and hair releases new facets from earthy to romantically airy (and in between and back again) every time I turn my head. Trimerous is between time and space as it captures the evolution and history of harvesting and presenting coveted orris (dare I say, yourself as well) and I'm absolutely smitten by this curious perfume.

Very nice iris perfume, powdery and with make Up and Lipstick aroma. It is very similar to Dior homme intense and to givwnchi gentleman Edp but more natural. However It is also lighter and I think the performance is a bit worse. The fragrance is very Well blended and smells very very good. It is a creamy and buttery iris perfect for everyday use It even ti be worn as an Office fragrance. I think It is totally unisex. Recommended for those Who are looking for a refined versión of Dior homme, or those Who down not like the new 2020 versión of the Dior perfume. How can orris root in this one be so ‘deep’, (particularly the initial phase)? This is orris and suede done perfectly that it is absolutely divine and tantalising (well, again, in the beginning). The scent is very dense and is almost liquid candle wax-like type of dense. Stunningly creamy and earthy, despite agreeing with a below comment that carrot seeds later overwhelms the scent and behaves as a distraction. Not too much of smokiness at all; styrax and young-aged ambergris take the backseats. Trimerous gets lighter and sweeter as it progresses; it morphs into spiced peach. Last drydown sweet vanilla trace.

It's definitely "about" orris. It has all the powderiness you'd expect, but it is very clearly from the earth, and very root-like. I've never smelled fresh orris root, but I imagine it's very close to this. It's mostly dead-on linear, and it's complex enough where I don't mind at all. I adore wearing it at night--not to go out, but chilling at home or outside somewhere where the breeze is cool and the moon is out. I am curious if anyone wears this as a daily signature scent. I couldn't do so, but there's a mood for which only this will do. (Closest family member to me is Serge Lutens Iris Silver Mist)

The Last Unicorn - (if you know & love this film Trimerous might be for you) it beams just like a mythical immortal creature. Complex, intoxicating, and ethereal. It’s a gorgeous portrait of orris root but also has an enchanted watery quality that bolsters the typical soft starchy orris. Together they sing a true spell. I do think it’s for cooler weather, I fell in love with it in the early spring but could not wear it at all in the summer, the heat muddled up all its beauty.

As an iris lover, love this stuff. Opens bright and lively, immediately pick up on the orris root. Slightly reminded me of DHI 2020 but they are definitely very different. Nectarine is noticeably juicy and just a hint of sweetness. Perfectly unisex. Good stuff. As always, all just my subjective experience.

A beautiful, complicated nose dive into the orris root. It’s earthy and rich, incense lingering in the background with the “oud” lighting setting the scene. Herby, little seedy, and hauntingly sweet. A broken vintage compact with make up still inside, found underneath the rubble of a pagan ritual.

unique, indeed very buttery and gummy. it didn't feel powdery or musky to me, though. weird at first try, but its soft earthy-gourmand feeling is addictive. there's a faint trace of gasoline or burning rubber that i find common to some of the jorum studio scents, like in rose highland.

A gorgeous, buttery orris and suede scent. Styrax and Oud are turned down in the composition, so much that I cannot detect them. Smooth, well blended from start to the long lasting finish. Not much projection but the scent stayed with me all day.

Pure bliss! Iris perfume but not cold and restrained as the most of the cases - this one is warm, sweet and fluffy. I am impressed.

A beautiful sueded orris with a little lift from the nectarine. As Emerson10 said, “A perfect orris”

Trimerous starts with a hazy-pale vegetal musk and then quickly opens out into bright, sweet fruit -- that'll be the "nectarine." A few minutes in, the fruit fades and we get a pillowy fog of cool white iris. There's something herbal in there making it even cooler, almost antiseptic. A little bit of sweetness lingers from the fruit to soften it, but mostly this is hard to take. And then the fruit comes right back! And it's lovely. Juicy, bright, almost floral. Fades delicately into the iris backdrop. It's a very fake peach note, which I usually find jarring, but somehow in this setting it works. Juicy nectarine, snow-white iris butter, chilly herbs. Is this...good? Not exactly, it's bizarre, but it's not exactly bad either. It's not a classical iris fragrance, but peach-and-iris is a solid combination that makes the iris brighter and the fruit more refined. In the drydown the antiseptic herb note is gone, and the pure peaches-and-cream effect is much more pleasant. Unlike Francesca Bianchi Encounters, where the peach smelled really fake and stuck out awkwardly against the smoky iris backdrop, Trimerous's nectarine is genuinely pretty and blends smoothly into the velvety iris.

This is the opposite of a cold, aloof iris. That would be iris silver mist or iris poudre.... Trimerous is laden with thick, licoricey orris and a soft suede... there are no hard angles or sharpness, no freshness, it's all orris root and rustic creaminess... Earthy but clean and lush. It took me a couple of months because I was resistant to leather for a while but now I'm in love.... There's a tart and realistic vein of nectarine which balances the rootiness and heaviness from the orris.. the powder isn't talc or makeuppy but comes from the orris and musk, it smells natural.... Dark green and a foggy lilac-grey... Too suedey thick for summer and perfect in autumn and winter. But these scents are often more for a certain mood rather than season for me anyway... Much more a pragmatic kitchen witch than anything isolated and unforgiving... Clean, but connected to the land

An artistic celebration of orris root, the rhizome of the currently in-season iris flower. Powdery but in a deeply earthy way, with a suede-textured sweetness that evolves ever so gradually across its wear. All the notes making up this build serve to reflect and enhance the hero note - a great showcase of perfumer Euan McCall’s skillful ability to wield the scents of the natural world to his desired end. I wouldn’t call this a very “me” scent - when I go powdery, I actually quite like a more cosmetic slant - however this is just so beautiful that I have to pull it out every once in a while. It feels perfect for a warm spring day like today. I’ll be following it up with Universal Flowering’s Lilac No. 4 tomorrow, a similarly circumscribed and meticulously formulated vernal scent.

In the very end, this dries down to a cold iris, which I really don't like (I don't like iris). It's too cold. I really don't like leather either. But in this case, this perfume is larger than the sum of its parts. It is quite lovely. I've realized the combination of fruity- with the leathery is something I really like. In parallel to Wienerblut's Palais Nizam. It sounds weird. But it is just wonderful. Definitely one of the better ones from Jorum studios. Recommended if you like iris, fruity- and leathery notes. I would say, it's unusual, but it's not 'too avantgarde'. Definitely versatile.

Vintage lipstick, copy paper, Glossier You, ink. Trimerous is a powdery floral mix of various notes that combine to make something that is very neutral and modern, but still smells like it's from another era. Contradictory! Hazy, pale, vegetal musk is spot on. It is indeed foggy. Though I am not getting the feminine associations from other reviewers. It feels aggressively unisex, almost asexual, to me. With some time, the fruit comes forward and breaks the sterile vibe.

Cold water, crisp blue skies, waxy Iris, lightly fluffy purple flowers, sherbet dust and a twist of lemon. Really lovely fresh and contemplative scent. Personal, polished and soothing. This would be lovely post shower and pre bed. ❤️

Snow queen iris. impersonal, cold and clear like the twang of a bell ringing, but with the fuzziness of sueded snowflakes and and carroty brightness tempering any bite of chilliness. The orris is rooty and a little bit green around the edges, with a restrained amber core. Liquid mercury, amorphous and cold, remains distinct yet elusive, eventually blurred out by soft powder and suede like warm breath on icy glass. Possibly the nicest orris I've smelled so far as someone who has difficulty with the note.

As an iris lover, as expected this fragrance opened up in a magical way. Unisex Dior Homme vibes, also similar to Visionary Eye but without the wormwood herbaliness. I'm a sucker for carrot seeds and they lend a lovely hand to the aromatics in Trimerous. A few hours in I kept getting the strangest whiffs of dirt or a dirtiness that bothered me. Took me a while to realise it was coming from me! And I don't mean an iris-earthiness. I smelt straight up dirty. Lovely opening, but beware of the dry down!

Opening is similar to Iris de Syracuse by Bucheron, so basically a basic iris scent. Then you get the tart nectarine note which I am not fond of. Add a leather note, the kind that I dont like, and it made it over the top and gave me that car sick feel. Also leans masculine to my nose, so not for me personally.

Zesty rooty orris, herbs, and carrot seed; something here comes across as quite "salty" and savory. The idea of these flavors in a dish is very appetizing...but I've never enjoyed smelling like food! I did find my sample quite enjoyable & interesting though

Leather and petrichor, but just has a sharp/metallic note that's very common in water/rain scents and I don't like it. If that one note were removed, it'd be fab. Classy and cool, I'd like it on a guy (minus the sharp note).

reminded me of naomi goodsir - iris cendre. but probably a more zesty optimistic version. not bad but still evokes so much melancholy due to its density and smokiness.

The suede and iris here are similar to Tom of Finland from État Libre d’Orange, the oud is like the one in Halfeti, but more powdery.

If you're a guy and you ever smelled your sister's makeup kit, that's Trimerous for you. No further notes :)

Tryhard Iris: The problem with this scent is that the notes designed to accentuate the aspects of the iris overpower it. As an example the carrot seed takes the scent too far in the carrot direction whereas it would ideally guide it towards the rooty earthy aspects. A good effort that is let down by overdoses in supporting materials possibly driven by a desire to stand out.

Yea... I ordered a bunch of Jorum sample and Im realizing I'm just not a fan of this house at all. Too much happening in this one and the notes do not blend well. The carrot seed is STRONG on the initial spray. I feel like I can smell every note individually and the combination is weird and confusing. Im not a fan.

the plastic/rubber note in this is too intense for me to look past it, obscuring the creamy, nutty orris root that reviewers below have noted. i admire the creativity (as per with mccall) but im not getting the same joy other people seem to.

This started as plastic and suede, then moved to carrot and pepper. There’s some wood here too. Powdery. I can’t get past the plastic smell.

One of the best orris perfumes I've tried, but personally I struggle to get into the tart, waxy nectarine note and to me fruit and powder lean more feminine. It's beautifully blended though and isn't really sweet. The pink pepper compliments the stone fruit nicely, along with dry herbs and balsamic notes that make this feel more like a soft resin than a fluffy butter. From these notes there's also a warmth which contrasts the more iris-specific coolness you get in the beginning. It's got that rough lipstick texture and strong iris aroma similar to Dior Homme in the first half hour or so, but turns into something quite different a bit later. I definitely get that characteristic suede impression throughout, but there's also an oud note further into the dry down that seems to connect the resins, incense, and spice with a unifying balsamic woodyness, yet it's all so subtle and somehow doesn't overshadow the powdery nuances of the orris. Overall it's complex, cozy, a little tart, and beautiful. It also manages to create a sense of structure and texture that other orris-based perfumes sometimes lack by overdosing certain ionones and embellishing too hard with musks. I think I may get a bottle since it's not super expensive and it warrants a more thorough experience. My girlfriend likes it too and said it wasn't especially feminine so we both may use it.

My first thought was Valentino Donna original, ladies' version, but with much more amplified, niche qualities. It is undoubtedly a touch more masculine, but super powdery make up vibes all the way, with lots of orris and just a whisper of sweetness. The styrax and incense here are just enough to make it a touch resinous, and the herbal nuances of the angelica, juniper are very subtle. Carrot seed just adds to that grainy powerlessness. Really good scent, I enjoyed the beginning of valentino donna but it turns fairly quickly. Just sprayed a touch on my other hand - that definitely has a pronounced rose note compared to this, which I barely felt sprayed on just on it's own. Comparatively I can definitely see it there. Both have a fruitiness and leatheriness to them. Trimerous turns really soft and resinous, even a little almondy and gourmand on the dry, like a delicious turkish almond cake. I'm putting this one on my best of make up bag scents shelf.

This is a beautiful and nuanced iris perfume. I'm not really an iris person, and it's clearly the star here, however, I really appreciate the work that went into this perfume nonetheless. Often perfumes centered around iris feel cold and sterile to me, like the scent has been preserved but the vitality has been lost. It's very Snow Queen to me. Trimerous, by contrast, feels like it's part of a delicately frozen but not inert landscape. Orris is definitely front and center, with bergamot making a fleeting appearance for me in the top notes and carrot seed and some light herbal notes being more persistent, the little hints of green and life to come. As the perfume evolved I found the vanilla, ambergris and suede notes to be the most prominent. It's not in my style, but it's still lovely, and if you are a lover of iris I think it's well worth trying to get your hands on a sample as I feel it's more vibrant than many other iris-focused perfumes!

This made me want to skip along the street in Marylebone. The kind of smell that makes you gasp, or groan. It is a delicious, salty, cool but sweet, posh smell. It’s what a beautiful woman that has her life together smells like. It was my instant favourite of the whole collection, and I LOVE the darker bottles from Jorum Studio. It’s white light and fur and blusher. It’s almost spiced, but a cold spice. Like the cold wet skin of an unripe pear. Someone else said “Hazy-pale vegetal musk". If the skin of a girl smelt like this, I would curl up in the space between her neck and her hair and inhale the silver fog of Trimerous.

Going out on a limb here, but the immediate opening has a chlorinated quality, like smelling the aromachemicals of a jacuzzi or sauna. Don't worry, this went away very quickly. It has a tart fruitiness (nectarine and bergamot) but also a smooth and neutral aromatic vibe. If I had to guess, the carrot seeds, orris root, juniper and angelica contribute most to this soft naturalistic feel. Basically all of Jorum's scents feel like creative interpretations of found ingredients, and Trimerous is no exception. Notes that I am struggling to pick out in the offset: vanilla, pink pepper (it's rendered really lightly), and incense.

This doesn't smell anything like Dior Homme or Givenchy. It opens with a fluffy orris butter cloud, it's not sweet at all. Rooty-herbality comes into play from angelica, carrot seed and thyme. This phase of the perfume is very dry. All of a sudden the perfume morphs! The nectarine appears, delicious and juicy; you can imagine biting into the fruit and have it flow down your arm in rivlets, that's how visceral it is. Between the heart and the drydown, suede tabs a comfortable seat in the background, way up in the back of the bleachers, supporting wholeheartedly but never taking centre stage.

Sophisticated, but not matronly. Elegant and refined, but not boring. I immediately envisioned a night at the opera, specifically in a red velvet box. The wearer is cultured, maybe a curator or some other profession that prizes attention to detail. I get a Chanel lipstick-esque drydown, that powdery floral thing. I keep seeing myself hugging a friend’s fashionable mom and thinking, “I want to be like you when I grow up.” Foggy, dusky, feminine, aspirational.

Every once in a while I'll smell a fragrance and not get anything from it that anyone else is getting. I get greenery and wet soil from Trimerous. It smells natural, refreshing, not exactly like petrichor, but a cousin to it. I don't get anything musky, irisy, or powdery. It's not bad, just surprising for not being able to smell what others smell in it. But I can see how others find it cold and aloof.

On me this starts out quite masculine and fresh, not in a way I particularly like. After about an hour, that fades and leaves a very soft suede-carrot seed-musk combo. Nice, but not for me.

Orris combines with carrot seed to smell like saffron on a bed of incense and leather.

Something waxy in it that I just don't like. Like old hair oil that has gone rancid.
