Unspoken Gesture

I've been wearing Unspoken Gesture everyday for a week now and at this time, I can say that my quest for the perfect "your skin but better" type of fragrance is over Before getting into the experience of wearing it - reading the other reviews - I want to point out that I had a very different experience with it in a decant than from the full bottle. When I first tested it from a decant, the cardamom was way too sharp and overpowering and I wasn't getting the fig. It was still good enough though and when I sprayed it from the bottle, I had the full picture and it was marvelous The best way I can describe wearing it - and of course, as always, this is subjective and skin chemistry dependant - is like if the natural smell of your skin was amped up, you just got out of an almond-fig milk bath and you sprayed the perfect amount of a white musk/ambrox(and derivatives)/Iso E Super base layer Performance as far as longevity is through the roof, never overpowering and constant and this is with one single spray I can't really speak about projection as I'm working from home most of the time but although it seems to be projecting to a certain degree, I have the feeling that it's not the type of fragrance that would either turn heads or annoy - In the sense that it seems so human-like that people wouldn't think you're wearing a fragrance and also, I'm under the impression that it's not a smell - even if I encountered it on someone else - that would wow me as a fragrance but would be magical in a close encounter being under the impression that the person is naturally smelling this good What I would recommend is apply one single spray on your chest, wait for about 10-15 minutes before putting your shirt/top on and then go about your day - From one hour on after applying it and for the rest of your day, you'll have the best experience in my opinion Finally, everytime I'm thinking wearing any other of my fragrances just to switch things up and smell the nozzle, although each of them smell good, I go back to Unspoken Gesture

I have to admit, I blind bought this one. Why? Because Jorum have never dissapointed me; I simply love the Scottish Odyssey series, and whenever I see fig it is a must try for me. I could've bought a sample but I guess I never got to it before I found 'Unspoken Gesture' on sale after having it on my must-try-list for some months too many... And there it was in my basket and eventually in my mail box, and now proudly displayed amongst my (maybe too many) bottles of perfume. Fortunately I ended up being happy with my blind buy. The fig is initally really prominent and very clean smelling, and the nuttiness is really showing up, but in a really comforting and cozy way! The cardamom is there but it is never overpowering like I usually smell cardamom. The top notes are mixing together beutifully on my skin and even though sweet is the number two main accord? It is not really sweet at all? It is way more powdery and warm, nutty and velvety, and even lactonic in that smooth thick way. The drydown does not really add anything groundbreaking. It is still the same, just a tad less intense. The ylang is trying to peek at you from faaaaar over there, but I cannot really grasp it, it is hiding far behind the figgy nuts and the wet rice has mixed itself up in the dry hay making a sticky barricade that the ylang can never even dream about penetrating. Still, I have to say that I really like the complexity you get from this. It is delicate, and in every sniff you notice something new, or another combination of notes have melted together. And even in that everything is still swaddled in that clean fig which now have combined itself perfectly with the musk and ambrette. I have to say, I love this take on a "savoury gourmand" though, personally I do not get the gourmand aspect exept for the obvious nut and sesamy notes. And even though the fig, wood and cardamom could do this paper/office supply smell it is just a part of its uniqueness which I tend to enjoy. And enjoy it I do.

jorum studio how i love you! as soon as i sprayed this on my wrist - it was love at fist sniff. opens up with an impression of a delicious orange-flavored pastry, soon meekens, transforming into an intimate salty sweet piece of bread adorned with slices of orange peel which might or might not be on the verge of fermenting. it smells undeniably moldy, but remains gentle and tongue-in-cheek about it. cutting through it are woody, green aspects, warm and cold at the same time. unspoken gesture is frivolous and confident in its weirdness, yet calm and modest. the entire experience evokes the image of serendipidously meeting an eccentric older woman, she invites you to her cottage on the outskirts of the village and offers you rooibos tea and cookies, which she tells you she made herself with stuff she'd gathered from her garden. her house is cluttered and messy and smells a bit odd but she's undeniably an interesting individual, so you stay, chatting until it gets dark out so you go home, and you never see her again.

overwhelming chemical scent edit: I've done a complete 180 on this. I'm a novice fraghead and have only a handful of samples to try, not many which are winter appropriate (the season in which I'm writing this review). I found myself reaching for this over and over again just to try and figure out why I didn't like it.. so much that I've almost entirely come around. it's a bit peppery, sweet, and like everyone says, smells like fried rice. perfect for icy days outside when you need a bit of warmth on you.

Unspoken Gesture is a beautifully balanced warm, lightly floral, woody hug in a bottle. It’s the perfume I’ve been looking for. It smells feminine but not “girly”, it’s floral but not the heavy blossom/jasmine/rose floral, it’s figgy but not sharp green, and it’s creamy but not sugary. I truly adore this perfume. The scent bubble is modest, and it lasts for weeks on my clothes. With Christmas around the corner, I’m hopeful my husband will take my wild enthusiasm for this perfume as a sign!
