En Plein Air

US customs gave me a lot of grief over this perfume, so I was very anxious for it to arrive. I gave it some time to sit on my skin and clothes in different environments over the last few days before I formed a coherent opinion. This is a really pretty scent. The first spray wasn’t much to write home about, and I was worried I had invested in something I wasn’t going to love, but it warmed quickly to my skin. The first 20 minutes is straight bergamot and grapefruit. It doesn’t have a bold presence the way Les Cahiers Secrets does, which opens with cumin and lilies. En Plein Air starts with a faint and almost bitter citrus zest before eventually warming into rainy, soft white florals and a lone musk base. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t as sharp or acidic as others had suggested. I don’t get the idea that the citrus is culinary. This isn’t a juicy perfume, and I found the middle notes complement the initial bitterness by mellowing it out with something comforting and familiar. My skin likes this fragrance. I showered immediately after the test spray and the heat amplified a natural and grassy skin-warmth, which I found subtly erotic. It lasts, too—my shirt collar lingered faintly with bergamot even after coming home from an eight-hour office workday. Where Les Cahiers Secrets is overtly flirtatious, En Plein Air feels like a warm, breezy picnic rolling in the park with someone you’re madly in love with: sun-dappled grass, short linen sundresses, bare limbs slick inside all the hollows and dells where the skin meets.

I am emotionally addicted to this. It is sensuous, in a way that is both mysterious and pure. It’s like a recurring memory that is hazy in the details but vivid in colors of feeling, a searing of energy. In these memories, I am sixteen, too shy to speak to my crush. The intensity of my infatuation must ooze out of me, an aura of unspoken longing. The citrus notes, clinging to my skin...I have just peeled a perfect grapefruit, the oils from the rind a fragrant reminder of the bursting pink flesh. The flowers and musk take it deeper, adding a warmth to the scent that is alive, inviting you closer...I am 20, and I am running in the summer rain with the man I am with. Back at his place, we are insatiable. We tear the clothes off of each other, our damp bodies humming our desire, our need; we are a tangle of musky, sweaty skin and the sweet heat of his breath all over me, and we devour each other completely through. The rain notes, watery and mineral and atmospheric, whisper a spiritual air. I am 39, I am married now and my husband is looking at me as I step out of the shower. And still, after these long years, we are drawn to each other. He has known me in a way I never imagined possible. Known me inside and out, through the many lifetimes that are the passing years. We give ourselves to each other, again, and again, and again. He gave me this perfect perfume and I have worn it every day since. It is innocence. Carnality. En Plein Air is longing and it is bliss. It is perfect.

A tall, cool glass of water. My favourite of the Jouissance of trinity. Bitter bergamot and grapefruit peel twine with a white floral petrichor into a perfectly unisex pick-me-up. Its opening is akin to Outremer's Bergamote, but takes that linear citrus to the next level. My favourite part is its woody-musk drydown, which feels – hear me out – like nuzzling into a brand-new Abercrombie and Fitch jumper. The confluence of the femme petals and masc musk is ~ chef’s kiss ~. Longevity and sillage are mild at around 3 hours on my skin, but more durable in fabric. I packed the sampler for a roadtrip through the South Island of New Zealand and it was the perfect scent to re-civilize with after tramping through the drizzly wilds. Mental Snapshot: A fantasy romance downpour. Mr. Darcy, emerging from a lake. Wet linen, fresh grass, a bouquet of wildflowers clutched in a fist. Bookmark. Rewind. Gorgeous. My favourite of the three currently offered by this house. Sweet/sharp/green/fresh it is lovely puts me in mind of a green chypre. It sits close to the skin and is extremely pretty, easy to wear. The opening burst of citrus is really lovely, not too overpowering but ever present when the fragrances moved to the middle and bottom notes. The floral notes are clean and bright and the musk is sexy and intimate, with a little woody echo like pencil shavings. It’s full bottle worthy for sure, if you like Untitled, Sur du Nil, chanel 19 edt, and Modern Muse you’ll like this. This is good for office/daywear.

Yes, En Plein Air is juicy, zesty, and bright—almost a bit assertive, but, my goodness.. The dry down on my skin is dewy and innocently provocative. It’s reminiscent of the feeling when you have a crush & there’s that wild tension but both parties haven’t built up the courage to speak, and perhaps never will. The tension is good enough. I want to reserve this perfume for bed time with my lover so this scent is imprinted in his memory while we sleep. I wish this was available in a larger offering.

I’m in love with Jouissance perfumes, and En Plein Air is no exception. Beautiful, zesty and bright, this is a joy to wear, though sadly my skin eats up citrus so it doesn’t last as long as I’d like. A fragrance for those sunny days when you’re feeling fresh and flirtatious - it’s bound to put a spring in your step!

Comforting, happy, carefree and uplifting. The warmth from the sun, laughing while running through the summer rain. Instant love!

I’m not typically into citrus fragrances as they tend to remind me of cleaning products, but En Plein Air is different! I was kindly gifted a sample set from Jouissance and after testing for several months, I can say that that this has become my favorite of the three. Even though it’s marketed as a “sexy” scent, I don’t really receive it that way, thankfully so, I’ve never been drawn to overtly sensual perfumes. It’s definitely a bit cheeky, but more in a mischievous, charming type of way. Still, I find it to be very dignified. The smell is delicate, earthy, and watery, like you’ve been kissed by rain. Makes me think of fairies splashing around in a sun dappled pond. It’s contemplative and enchanting. There’s magic, but it’s the quiet kind, soft, bright, and full of joy. So dreamy.. Love!!<3

(gifted) the top notes are very pronounced – citrus heavy, like lemon rinds atop a grapefruit sorbet. playful, comforting, and nostalgic. the first moments of wear are like licking a dessert off of your fingertips. behind that strong start, white florals dappled in rain bring en plein air to a mellow, but crisp scent. i find that my skin prefers the citrus notes over the others, and while i do wish the rain was more pronounced, the dry down is decadent and distinctly comforting. it lasts fairly well, about 4 hours for me, and lingers. it's almost secretive. much akin to forgoing a rain coat for the little pleasures of weaving in and out of cobbled roads under a summer rain. an artful, mild je ne sais quoi with a minxy mischief to it – no complaints here!

This fragrance opens with a burst of aromatic citrus. Imagine sitting in a warm field peeling an orange. You breathe in and smell the fruit in the air. As the wear time goes on, the fragrance becomes more and more warm but still very light. This fragrance will only be shared with those who lean in for a kiss or a hug. Despite this, it still has an underlying "dirtiness" that keeps this from just being a nice generic scent. It’s kept enough of a wild nature that it 100% fits the copy behind the creation of this scent.

i feel like an oven-baked salmon lying on a plate getting lemon juice squeezed on me. not the way i would want to be eaten out but not unpleasant.

so far i've had 2/3 Jouissance perfumes on my skin (see profile for review of les cahiers secrets) - Jouissance was not what I was expecting! The premise and inspiration behind Jouissance are captivating and I would be lying if I said I didn't really enjoy all three scents. That being said - I really thought all 3 would be quite a bit more unique than I am experiencing. En Plein Air specifically reminds me a LOT of another scent I really like - Histoires de Parfums This Is Not A Blue Bottle 1/.5. Side by side they are all but indistinguishable. Part of me is glad I'm not falling in love with a $240 bottle today. But another part is sad that they weren't quite as moving as I expected.

Nice pleasant citrus fragrance that disappears within 2 hours as expected. I personally don't find anything special about it but it's nice. Reminds me Orange Soleia when that one has dried down. I do get the comparisons to LV Imagination but I find LV unpleasantly sharp and too masculine to my liking. There's nothing sharp or piercing about Un Plein Air it is soft and just pleasant all around. For me personally it's not full bottle worthy (300USD for 50ml) simply because it is a skin scent and it completely disappears so quickly.

As winter embraces the Southern Hemisphere, I find the thing I miss most about petal-strewn summers is al fresco reading. I can recall the days spent in the garden amongst the flowers with a worn-out copy of Katherine Mansfield's journal, the sun on my face, and En Plein Air on my skin. These sunlit moments spent outdoors became an enlivening scent-based ritual, and En Plein Air was the perfect companion. For me, this perfume is a bouquet of moods and recollections: Anna Pavlova embracing a swan, Elvira Madigan tightrope walking in the Swedish countryside, a crystal vase full of snowdrops, Bergman's Summer Interlude, roaming hands, and wild strawberries. Suffused with a delicate potency, the rain note provides a soft reprieve from the warmth of the citrus scent; it's gentle but unbridled. En Plein Air opens with moments of frivolous, light pleasure and ends on a heavy-lidded, earthy note that suggests lying supine in the grass as someone kisses the spots you perfumed. It's heady and romantic (all things green and flowery!).

You know those fragrances that just make you feel good? This is definitely one of those for me. En Plen Air is calming, zesty, uplifting, smoothly blended, easy to wear and easy to love. There’s a dewiness to this fragrance that I just adore. It won’t blow your mind in terms of being super unique, in fact it does remind me a little bit of imagination by LV but En Plein Air is definitely more femme leaning and smoother overall. It’s somehow delicate but very present at the same time. Something that also sets it apart from that one is she has a little naughtiness to her, as does all her fragrances I’ve come to find. Like a special touch that’s quite addictive to smell. One of my favorite discoveries this year so far, a hidden gem honestly. Wishing it came in a 100ml. Now excuse me as I’ll be dousing myself in this all summer long. Longevity is fantastic on me. 6+ hours on skin, longer on clothes and has a good projection for the first 3-4 which is great for a citrus.

I lost my virginity in a rural graveyard during a summer rainstorm, this perfume somehow smells exactly like that morning. Sweet jasmine and citrus iced tea saliva gives way to the dewey smell of grass blades and rain drops. All of this covering the macabre animalistic gravestones in the corners of my vision, the taste of skin over my mouth. It’s a super intimate perfume, but I love that about it. Every time I catch the scent of it in the wind, it feels like walking home from that morning through the post-storm breeze, hiding the grass stains on my knees and the back of my shirt, swallowing a secret smile.

The bite of the lash and the sting of the disinfectant. Pleasurable bite enrobed by candied lemon peel, the cake you had at dinner lingering on the tip of your tongue. This perfume is indulgence martyred, the sting of the black pepper and the sweet of the aftercare. This perfume makes me feel like a part of Marguerite Duras the lover... Bon Bon’s on the way to see my lover, skirt tucked into my pants embroidered with the day of the week. Skin brown and sore from the sun, my lovers gift, an ice cube trailing down my stomach. All the bite and all the softness.

This bottle captures the feverish intimacy of a summer storm finally breaking. Rain-soaked grass clinging to bare limbs, small white flowers tangled through your hair, covered in lingering kisses. Green stems and delicate petals soften into a hungry musk, warm and addictive, awakening an intense yearning you’ve only ever read in literature.

If you like météore or imagination from LV you would love this one , beautiful citrus and long lasting , very surprised of the quality and performance 💙
