La Camionera

wow. this fragrance has such a provocative depth to it. the first impression is slightly fizzy, powder sherbet-ish; like love hearts or parma violets. but the dark spice that comes out on the skin is complex and undeniably sexy. this scent has been nostalgic to almost everybody who has smelt it on me. all of them went in for another smell, closing their eyes, exclaiming in confusion, and hopelessly trying to put their finger on the correct recollection. la camionera is intriguing and addictive, reminiscent of something you can't quite remember. strangely, i do get a bit of germolene/tcp, my grandmother's bathroom cabinet, and a little pot pourri. it definitely leans more vintage/dusty/mature - which makes sense in the context of jouissance's other scents. but i think ... i love it.

I have worn this twice now, and I am starting to think I will need a second bottle as this is only a 15ml bottle. The opening is a sharp bergamot with cardamom which lasts around 15 minutes and then I can make out the jasmine only for a good hour or so and then it relaxes into a musk and tonka ending. It’s been on skin now for around 8 hours and it’s still easily noticeable on skin, it’s like the other Jouissance scents and it’s an intimate scent. It’s still hot in the UK and this works well in the heat, it’s very sensual and I think it’s the sexiest of their perfumes due to Jasmine. I have smelt my arms all day totally in love with the warmth this projects.

For me the opening is my favourite drink order: a vermouth and soda with an orange slice and maraschino cherry. Herbal-spicy with a zing of sweet orange and the appetising marzipan note. The indolic jasmine is lovely but short lived on my skin, leading to a dry down that is a little Tiger Balm/ Christmas candle for my liking, with only the warm spices remaining within half an hour or so of wear. That said, I do like that the opening leans femme and the dry-down more masc - very La Camionera appropriate. I think this will be a fun occasional wear, but not perhaps as blind-buy safe as I thought from the description. Maybe consider the tester if like me you're more attracted to the floral-citrus-gourmand than the warm-spicy facets of this fragrance.
