Accident À La Vanille - Almond Cake Limited Edition

This is the first Jousset fragrance I have tried, so I can't compare it to the other scents from this line. It does not smell like an almond cake, but also not as bad as some of the reviews say. At least in my opinion! This is not the most sophisticated scent, it's a little too loud and rough and I wouldn't wear it, but I like it in a way, it's fun and tasty. Almond Cake starts out quite fruity. Some reviews say cherry, I thought of a boozy orange at first, but now that I read it, I can also sense cherries. The rest of the scent smells like a mix of bitter almond extract (for baking), amaretto liqueur and amarettini cookies. So, there is a lot of almond in this, it's just not cakey, creamy or very warm like one might expect from an almond perfume. Vanilla makes it a little softer and warmer, but doesn't overtake the scent. The drydown is calmer than the opening, but still surprisingly fruity.

This does not smell like cherry to me. This smells like pure almond extract to my nose. I don't hate it b/c I do love the scent of almond extract, but I would think that most people would not be a fan of this one since it is pretty much one note. for anyone who might be interested, they still sell this at Sealed Essence.

Without the cherry scent this would be a perfect scent to me! It smells like a buttery biscuit and completely edible! I just wish that cherry smell wasn’t there to take away from it.

I don’t get cherry pie or syrupy cherry from this, but I also don’t get almond cake or vanilla from it. All I’m getting is straight amaretto and something weirdly metallic. Don’t get me wrong, I love the scent of amaretto. I sniff it in the bottle just to smell it. But this fragrance wasn’t what I was hoping it would be. I’m glad I only ordered the 2mL sample from Sealed Essence and not the bottle because I don’t believe it’s FB worthy. I’ll layer my sample with Montale Vanilla Cake.

Anyone else get Nibs on their skin? I love the original but I don’t really find any resemblance to this flanker. It smelled like strong almonds or amaretto initially but it dried down into Twizzler nibs mixed with cherry chapstick on my skin. It’s a fun one to try but a sample or a small decant is more than enough. I find this a lot more cloying than the original too. It’s definitely not a safe blind buy.

Smells of cherry halls on initial spray. The almond extract really overwhelms the rest of the scent. Then gradually mellows into a marzipan scent. Doesn't smell very "cakey" to me, as it is quite heavy on the almond. It then loses any sweetness and turns plasticky.

I LOVE the original Accident À La Vanille, so I blind bought this one with high expectations. Joke’s on me though. This is CHERRY, not almond. No cake to be found. Yes, it’s milky and vanillic. But it’s also medicinal and metallic. I’m disappointed, but it’s my fault for not sampling first.

This is a miss. It's cherry and almond extract but in the most obnoxious way. It's a no for me.

Smells like almond butter with cherry cough syrup mixed in. No thank you.

This perfume is definitely not what I expected! First off let me say that Accident a la Vanille is my all time favorite gourmand/foody vanilla (not all vanillas smell like a dessert lol). I had high hopes for this new flanker! I've really been enjoying Les Mignardises as well, so needless to say I've become something of a Jousset fan in a short period of time. Accident a la Vanille Almond Cake is certainly fun but I would not go so far as to say it reminds me of an almond cake. The very first blast right out of the bottle gives me the feeling of cherry pie filling. If the name of this perfume was Cherry Pie, I'd find the name fitting. I do get a sense of the almond cake part but it's more like a cherry pie with a layer of marzipan, or an almond pastry with cherry filling. The cherry mellows in the drydown, and the perfume gets softer, and with a touch of powder. It does remind me of the original Accident a la Vanille, but it lacks the custardy richness of the original. I found the new version a tad more thin, perhaps as an attempt to make it lighter, more like cake than custard. The longevity was sadly not as good as the original, lasting just a few hours, while I find the original lasts at least my full work day. Overall I'm pleased to have a bottle and will wear it a few more times before I jump to too many conclusions, but after a full day of wear I can say I do prefer the original. I was hoping for the OG with amped up cake or biscuit and almond facets, as advertised, but instead I got a cherry pie flanker. Overall rating 8/10

Finally got my bottle and the opening is a gorgeous burst of realistic almond marzipan, almost like cutting into a fresh almond cake. That phase doesn’t stick around for long, though. Once it settles, I’m left with this sweet, crumbly mix of honeyed, syrup‐soaked biscuits. Some people pick up a cherry nuance here and I can see why, even if it leans more pastry than fruit on my skin. Projection and longevity for Accident À La Vanille Almond Cake sit comfortably in the medium range. It’s playful, edible and unapologetically gourmand; one of those scents that feels like a treat without being overwhelming and the kind of scent that makes you smile at your own wrist. Part of me wonders if they’ll ever release a Dubai Kunafa twist on this, the way Jousset did on Ciao Bello Pistachio. That would be dangerously good and I’m fully prepared to fall in love all over again.

Accident a la Vanille's Almond Cake is so nightmarishly awful that I was inspired to write a haiku for it: a robitussin, and playdough and almond milk frathouse haze: DRINK, DRINK!
