Accident À La Vanille - Madeleine de Proust

My wardrobe is freely accessible to my adult daughters, but this I had to hide from them! Madeleine de Proust really is everything that has been written, and yes, that smell like "popcorn" what actually coming from such so heavy butter, that even resembles me delicious pipe tobacco too, and just makes my brain's neutrons gallop like crazy... the smell couldn't be any richer without getting clogged. The experience is equivalent to eating some fine art pretzel. Sooo satisfying. Although that buttery biscuit shows in the background through the fragrance's life, the drydown raise up whit delicious Vanilla...and rich apricot. That apricot gives the scent a mature, even vintage-style expensive feel, and that's why this scent is, to me, so easy to wear. This vanilla is deep, but not sharp, not brutal, not nauseously childish either. I think this is perfect vanilla for adult taste too. I just admire this creation.

This perfume is SO UNDERATED!! It is a 10/10 for me. Perfect Vanilla Cookie scent with some Juicy Peaches+Coconut. The combo of peaches and coconut together makes a new fruit note - it doesn't really smell like PEACHES. Or like COCONUT. (And definitely not a sunscreen coconut - this is a straight Gourmand fragrance!). The projection is really good - a good 6.5/10, so above average. Lasts long enough for me to enjoy the scent bubble. I haven't noticed it fading too quickly but I don't know if it will last 8 hours plus. This is the Peachy+Vanilla fragrance I've been looking for!! I don't think enough people have gotten their noses on this one. Get yourself a decant or a bottle if you are a gourmand lover and have been looking for good peach perfumes... another good Peach is Vanille 12:00 (not full-on gourmand but gorgeous).

I love this gourmand line from Jousset. When I saw Luckscent had it again I had to add it to my collection. Normally I would not find butter smelling fragrances good for perfume, but this is a well balanced fragrance. The fruit comes forward on my skin, and it gives a cozy, creamy vibe. I would say this is more of a Fall/Winter scent. People compared this to Bianco Latte...which I can see the similarity as far as the cozy, creamy vibe...but this is different. I would say if you own one and not the other that it would be safe to have both in your collection. If you are not a gourmand lover, this line is absolutely not for you, because each scent smells like a sweet dessert. If you do love gourmand then I would def check this out.

Wow, this is stunning. A warm, peach tart. This has turned into my signature scent. I absolutely adore the opening. Syrupy, sweet peach with buttery cookies. The coconut is there, but just adds warmth and gives it a more “baked goods” feel. The heart of coconut worried me at first upon looking at the notes, but it works really well with the Accident A La Vanille base. The DNA from the original remains, but the butter makes it much richer. I never get popcorn from this. I bake a lot, and it really does remind me of a peach cobbler or tart. A creamy, decadent treat throughout.

EDIT: Coming back to write a revised review . I tested it a few more times and the magic is in the dry down. IT'S A GOURMAND GODDESS!!! I just purchased a full bottle. It opens with a burst of apricot and coconut. I know, right..but WAIT!!!! In the next few minutes, it begins to dry down and you feel as if you're in the middle of a French patisserie in Paris. The biscuit/shortbread note is so buttery and creamy. It's just so hard for me to describe. This perfume is probably the oddest, yet beautifully scented fragrance that I've come across in a very long time. Truly unique.

I meant to order a sample of the og Accident a la Vanille, and got this one by... accident. Lol. It's a happy accident, though. It smells quite literally of extra-buttery shortbread cookies with apricot jam, and reminds me of my grandfather's apricot tarts he made fresh in his bakery. They were my favorite as a child. Madeleine de Proust lasts a long time, and after a couple hours the "cookie" note dies down and the blend becomes more akin to apricot yogurt (which I still love). It's a true gourmand either way, and a delicious one if you love vanilla and apricots.

Best biscuit scent I’ve tried so far, crunchy yet mellow and oh! So buttery. An indulging frag for indulging nights. You’re baking a pie in a cottage core kitchen. You romanticize your life and note the details of the moment: the parquet creaking, the smell of the crust pie that intrigue little birds around and they come around to see what you’re up to. Do you feel like Belle yet? Absolute must sniff if you’re a gourmand lover, bonus point if you’re the delulu dreamer type.

this is my favorite scent of all time! smells like straight up peach cobbler. it’s a very warm, nostalgic scent. you definitely get most of the notes, which i think is rare! the only note i don’t really smell is the coconut. but the peach/apricot and butter/vanilla/biscuit are all present and blend wonderfully. i don’t think the silage is the best to be honest, but it definitely lasts a long time, and i can smell it on myself throughout the day.

Smells exactly like what it’s trying to mimic, a madeleine coookie with a peach marmalade top and sprinkled with toasted coconut. The peach and apricot smell very distinctly jammy and the coconut is a wonderfully warm and toasty segue to the buttery cookie dry down. Very gourmand and very foodie, but so freaking good.

Had got a sample of this with a package a while back! Smells like a delicious freshly baked pastry, buttery and the fruity notes feel like a nice warm jam, hope to get the full bottle someday!

Gourmand heaven. Buttery vanilla cookies that melt like a fluffy candy floss. Give it a little time and the fruity notes start to shine through at the base.

A peach jam, coconut-y feeling with popcorn.....I have it, absolutely love it, was not made for the big mass though. Gourmand lovers will love it IMO.

This is the least favourite of the Accident A La Vanille line (somehow they don't really smell like flanker of the same scent, each of them is unique to itself). This one indeed smells like apricot jam filled pastry - madeleine. The butter flavor (or butter flavoured margarine/margarine +butter mixture) with sweet, a tiny bit dusty (like store bought is a bag), sponge/biscuits. Apricot is okay, but nothing beats the most beatiful apricot in a perfume for me, which is Dulce Diablo by Narcotica, for my personal taste. Really gourmand but if you like cakes and desserts, does it mean you love anything sweet? At leary I don't, and do is the case with Accident A La Vanille - Madeleine de Proust. It is okay, great performance, just not my favourite dessert /scent :)

Delicious, almost edible. I smell a similarity to an apricot-jam filled croissant. It has very good longevity and sillage. Madeleine de Proust doesn't smell at all "artificial" or low-quality. People around me seem to smell coconut, I do not pick that up on myself, but I definitely can smell the apricot, butter and a bit of the biscuit. Contemplating a full bottle for the future... I think this is what I hoped for from Jany - Sora Dora. Jany smells buttery and pastry-like, but on my skin it turns into a candle smell rather than a 200 euro perfume...

This smells just like a coconut cream popsicle (Helado Mexico Coco pop). I had to triple check I was on the correct perfume page because aside from the coconut and a hint of apricot it's really not a fruity perfume to me. It's got the duality of having warm vanilla and cold coconut ice cream. Absolutely delicious! Definitely reads as a summertime gourmond to me

I went into scent bar saying I wanted to smell like a warm buttery vanilla short bread cookie and left with this. I think it gives exactly that, although in some moments I do feel like it can be tooooo sweet, so a little can go a long way. Its kinda nice to wear in the summer when youre nice and tan and warm, if you get it you get it.

Wow. This one is odd! It matches the stated notes, and the butter and violet is strong. I wish it was more balanced. It feels off-kilter but what can you expect from this company?! It's fun. Spray lightly at first until you're familiar with it. Or, sample first!

I get butter and vanilla. A hint of peach or apricot in the beginning. It’s nice for the lovers of Accident a la Vanille, but to me it’s redundant to have all the flankers. They are all close enough. The performance is good for the price.

Loved the buttery scent, coconut goes well with top notes. Also I got sweet vanilla vibes which 'Accident a la Vanille' gave me! I was worried about the fruitiness, but it goes along well with the coconut and toffee-nutty theme.

This smells like straight popcorn. 100% super buttery popcorn. I don’t get coconut or any of the top notes really. Just buttery popcorn. The apricot is only in the top and quickly dissipates, then you are just left with the butter, biscuit and vanilla notes which translates to popcorn. Somewhat similar to Sol De Janeiro Cheirosa 71 but way more butter and stronger. My husband is very indifferent typically when it comes to fragrances but he hated this one.

a kitchen composed of plastic plates. sliced fruit, the kind that seeps syrup and lays in its own little pool. a pastry with lightly toasted edges. all of it: consumed too quickly, too greedily. turning your head only to find a handful of coconut shreds left. to feel a hunger not satisfied by consumption.

An interesting lactonic for sure. I'm not sure how I feel about it though. I get buttered nuts! There's something nutty in here for me.

This perfume sounded promising, considering I’d never had a perfume that had a base note of biscuit and butter. As soon as I sprayed it, I was blasted with the synthetic fruit of the peach (the coconut comes through slightly after a while of dry down) and I get a overwhelming plastic smell. (Turns way too savoury) I love gourmand scents, however this one made me feel nauseous and i scrubbed it off straight away.

All I get from this is butter and coconut. Disappointed as I wanted a peach gourmand scent with a vanilla base. This smells like a pot of body butter that was coconut scented from the 2000s that I had as a kid from the body shop. Very thick creamy smell like shea butter. Thankfully I only got a sample and will be giving to my bestie as she loves coconut.

The notes don’t describe this fragrance at all. No peach, apricot or coconut. I smell the butter but it’s sour butter and maybe some of that biscuit too, but not a fresh biscuit, a stale one. Sad face.

The notes sounds so promising, but this is just a synthetic mess. It smells almost like a moldy old cracker with a hint of apricot and peach.

For a while I couldn’t quite place the scent... Then it dawned one me, it’s a glue stick! This smells like an old glue stick 😭

This was such a let down, for me. Out the gate, you get a hit of nail polish. Chemicals + alcohol + indistinct fruit. Then, it's gone entirely. No butter, peaches, apricots, biscuit, or vanilla. Just weird, extremely faint, expired coconut oil. So glad I didn't blind by this, but instead tested it first.

Really impressed with the performance of this fragrance. Definitely eternal longevity with great sillage with one spray, at least on my skin. The buttery popcorn note is definitely cloying to my nose, this note last at least 12+ hrs. I’m writing this review at 8 am, I sprayed one spritz at 11 am yesterday, sprayed Billie wiling on top of it to try to balance out the sweetness with some woody notes and still all I can smell is peach and butter. Not a bad fragrance, there is something nostalgic about it, like a large bowl of uneaten kids cereal on a Saturday morning. Won’t buy a full bottle but maybe I’ll try layering with a different fragrance.

Beautiful opening but why does the dry down turn so bad? it's like musky plastic in the dry down and all the fruit and lovely notes in the opening disappear Edit - I just went to use an expired jar of coconut oil from my pantry and then smelled the jar and it had the same plastic smell, so I guess it's expired coconut in this fragrance. But at least we know it actually smell like real coconut gone bad since it's got the same plastic smell

I dont know why most people hate this, i enjoy it. i get the apricot jam and peach in the opening although, most peach scents smell rotten and synthetic which i can understand in the opening but the dry down is so good and smells like a peach pie and crust. Ill enjoy my sample but I probably wont get a full bottle. also the projection is so good

This was a blind buy fail for me. I purchased thinking it would be vanilla heavy like the original but with added fruit notes. Kinda in the same vein as Vanitas or Epico but thats far from what I got with this. To my nose, it comes across a bit chemically and almost burnt, smokey popcorn like with a touch of fruit. Not well blended imo.

French buttery pastry in the opening, quickly accompanied by a slightly sour peach / apricot. I don’t know how I feel about the fruity note as peach has been so overused in the cosmetic industry, it all smells artificial to me now. All I can say is that the fragrance reflects the notes, other than the coconut - which I don’t get.

the opening is an apricot/peach jam on buttered biscuits. then the subtle whiffs of the original AALV show up. thennn the drydown is like a peach ice cream scented soap if that makes sense. i really like this but i think jousset could’ve made the drydown smell a bit more realistic. won’t be buying a full bottle

What a beautiful scent. Not as “butter cookie” as the regular accident a la vanille, but the apricot and coconut are very well blended with that madeleine-cupcake note. However in the drydown it’s only apricot and coconut, the cupcake-cookie accord fades so so quickly unfortunately.

This opened pretty, nothing new. Then, bandaids. So stinky. I couldn’t even understand. It must be something in my chemistry. It was just, really, really medicinal, and then bandaid, that got stronger and stronger. I will give it another try, maybe and report back.

Peach upside down cake! But it's homemade and you can taste the butter in the cake and the juicy nectar of the peaches. If you love peach/apricot and love smelling good enough to eat, I think you'll really enjoy this one.

When I sprayed this perfume in store, I loved it because I smelled a warm buttery vanilla. After buying, the coconut is super overwhelming for me. I’m not much of a coconut person but now it’s all I can smell :(

This is an apricot/peach pastry. I get a hint of butter as well. The only other fragrance I've tried with a realistic butter note was Lemon Tart. Nice to sample, but I don't think I'd wear it in the real world.

Noon I'm disappointed ! I Was expecting a very realistic madeleine scent but not at all. The coconut note is very strong in the dry down which is quite pleasant but the fragrance doesn't match the marketing.

I like this, not a love , but a strong like. I don’t get popcorn. I get delicious , flaky butter croissants with homemade apricot preserves and whipped cream.

All I smell is butter!!!!!!! If that's what you're going for then great lol. But it smells like a buttery croissant

Where does this black olive smell come from? Anyway, very strange.

Peach candle. Stick with the original...it’s beautiful.
