Accident À La Vanille

I am a bit shocked that this outstanding house is not getting the deserved attention it truly deserves! With the note of vanilla being such a big favorite of mine I went ahead and blind bought it and I have no regrets whatsoever and I will explain why... Accident A La Vanille is Top note Vanilla, Heart note Vanilla, Sandalwood and Base note Vanilla, styrax. Very much self explanatory for vanilla lovers, right...or is it? If I had to describe Accident a la vanilla in just one word when you spray it on your skin it would be ‘Yummy’ 😋 I own quite a few vanilla fragrances that by time turn truly delicious and yummy but this fragrance instantly gives you the urge to eat your skin! Apologies if that sounds gruesome! This vanilla is so beautiful and thick it instantly reminds me of a delicious vanilla cake that feels like it’s been poured over your skin. A very realistic and mouth watering warm delicious vanilla like no other fragrance I currently own. One thing that I immediately noticed is that It’s not even overly sweet, everything seems to be meticulously measured to make it the ultimate vanilla fragrance....then it does a nice turn like a Roald Dahl twist to the tale and this beauty starts to show some smoke in it too! This gives it that extra special touch to it and really makes it so spectacular A very interesting thing I noticed is that in the high Summer heat the performance is not as beastly as I thought it would be. I was actually a bit afraid to use it in high heat but it’s so well constructed that it does not cloy or annoy you one at all in high heat. But when you are in an air-conditioned environment it seems to jump off your skin again! Absolutely genial! Absolute quality! I am so happy to own this beauty and I personally consider Accident A La Vanille the best homage to the vanilla note yet ever created! A must for vanilla lovers!

Ok I loooveee this. It actually reminds me of 2 scents I already love -- Pacifica Island Vanilla & Lush Let The Good Times Roll. If those 2 had a baby, it would be Accident A La Vanille. There is this extra note in Accident tho, and I can't get enough of it. It is delicioussss, like real butter cookies or European style biscuits (the sweet kind). The scent then quickly dries down and that artificial butter note in LTGTR starts coming thru (probably what ppl are reading as popcorn). The butter note in Accident is nowhere near as strong as in LTGTR, but it's def present. And for me, the rest of the drydown is that mix of IV & LTGTR, with random wafts of delicious butter cookies. Performance wise, this one is tricky. There's a moderate scent bubble & sillage, and it actually lasted through a night's sleep for me. The scent is quite delicate smelling tho, and I went noseblind to it relatively quickly, so I can see how it'd be rated poorly in performance. However, I was able to smell it again after waking up (8-10 hrs), and my husby smelled it on me after getting off work (6-7 hrs). And I've noticed that the scent has deepened a bit & the performance has gotten better in the last few weeks that I've had it. All in all, I got this bc I'm a vanilla goblin, and if you're a fiend for vanillas like me, I'd say yes, get this. But look for it on sale. I got this for less than 100, and I think that's a good price for it. I would be siicckk if I paid full price for this. Also, if you have Pacifica Island Vanilla & Lush Let The Good Times Roll, you can layer them together and see what you think (Lush on the bottom, Pacifica on top). If u like that, you'll like Accident A La Vanille.

I seriously can’t wait to put my hands on this one. It smells like a scrumptious, slightly caramelized vanilla bean blondie to me. There is no nut added but it’s still rich in flavor. It’s fresh out of the oven (so piping hot!) and you’re resisting the urge to take the cake out of the mold just right now, because the borders are super sticky from the cake’s texture, the butter and the sugar. You know you’ll get to eat the delicious and hot cake bits if you take the cake out of the mold right now. When it comes to sillage, Accident à la Vanille is a very polite and well-behaved perfume— dare I say, a little bit shy. It definitely won’t fill a room. It’s the kind of perfume only your close ones could smell, while sitting next to you, hugging you etc. On the other hand, longevity is more than honorable. However, it's quite a photo-realistic gourmand so people who don't like smelling like actual food might not see the appeal in this one. I personally love photo-realistic gourmands when they're smooth and of good / high quality, so I absolutely love this. I feel like it’s a great vanilla for layering, if you want to add or increase the gourmand facets of a perfume. For example, I would be really curious to see how it plays out with One Umbrella For Two from Floraiku, to accentuate the blueblerry muffin effect. I'll try this combo and report on that... 🥰

Being a vanilla and gourmand lover, I was surprised that I didn’t absolutely fall in love with this perfume when I first smelled it. Don’t get me wrong, it was sweet and inviting, but in a dry graham crackers/animal crackers kind of way. I didn’t like the dryness as I was expecting a rich, soft, dessert-y vanilla (based on some YouTube videos and earlier reviews I read). I swore to never blind buy a full bottle ever again and put it away. A few days later, I decided to give Accident à la Vanille another try and sprayed it on my pulse points and clothes before leaving the house to run errands. I’m sooo glad I gave this another try 😍 About 20-30mins after spraying, I finally got the creamy, buttery, rich, warm vanilla that people are talking about. The graham cracker scent was still present but it blended well into the vanilla yumminess that is this perfume. This is a true gourmand that’s not sickly sweet, cloying and headache-inducing. I got a number of compliments throughout the day as I completed my errands and the longevity is amazing! You will smell like literal sugar cookies straight out the oven all day 🥰

A magnificent and notable vanilla. One of the best I've smelled if I'm to be completely honest. Soft, yet somewhat dense. Projection and sillage are decent, which is always a plus. Vanilla in its natural form without enhancements tends to be very soft and doesn't lift off the skin much, so kudos to perfumer Jimmy Bodin. Accident À La Vanille is very gourmand, but in the most sophisticated manner. A beautiful Accident, so to speak. As Aviegravy stated "buttery", warm, intimate and quite sultry. For true vanilla lovers. I am not one to instantly think up a fragrance reminiscent of the one I'm reviewing, but there are 2 that come to mind. Hypnotic Poison, without the almond note but I was mostly reminded of Philosophy's "Fresh Cream" with a touch of sandalwood. Jousset's quality is obviously much more elevated than Philosophy, but to my nose it's in the olfactory family. Vanilla is often dependent on tonka bean. Styrax was a great choice of notes to accentuate this fragrance. If you enjoy an unapologetic vanilla, this is a safe blind buy if you're unable to acquire a sample.

Oh, yes, this is a gourmand lover's dream! Accident a la Vanille is a delicious, creamy vanilla with a caramelized accord. Smells like straight up sugar cookies!! I have personally found it hard to find true gourmands outside of Indie perfume brands but Jousset really knocked it out of the park with this perfume! If I spray some on after my shower at night I can still smell it when I wake up in the morning. The bottle is not the most luxurious bottle I have ever seen as it seems to be a little cheap feeling but the sprayer on this perfume is so fine and disperses the perfume so well, and I was really surprised! I don't really pay attention to the way a perfume sprays but this one is so nice that it caught my attention. If you are a gourmand vanilla lover, and I do mean sweet vanilla, I think this is a good option to try. I would say it's comparable to Maison Mataha's Escapade Gourmande since it kind of has that creme brulee feel to it, but they are not exact dupes. I highly recommend both! Edit: Pair this with Kyse Delizia Di Marshmallow and thank me later.

I had been looking for a perfume version of the Sol de Janeiro 71 and this is the closest I’ve found! As a gourmand lover this is right up my alley. I first purchased a decant then had to have a full bottle! It reminds me of vanilla and brown sugar, kind of a caramel popcorn feel even. If you don’t like edible gourmand scents, stay away from this one. This is beautiful on its own, layered with other vanillas, layered with other gourmands, and is absolutely STUNNING layered with benzoin heavy scents! If you want a bit of a Miss Dior Cherie/Idole Nectar/Anna Sui Sky vibe (all florals with a popcorn note), layer with a bright floral even! This is definitely the most versatile scent in my whole collection. This is a perfume on the oily side so be careful with spraying. First time I wore it, I went a little crazy with the spraying, I sprayed it too close to my top and got a few dime sized oil stains. When I hold the bottle a little farther away, I do not get any oil stains. It’s an extrait so I should have known and been more careful! I was just so excited 😆

A beautiful extrait for gourmand lovers. The sandalwood gives it that luscious, creamy scalded milk accord, the styrax gives that vanilla a hefty dose of sweet and amber gives it a wonderful depth without trying to overtake the star of the show: the vanilla. It doesn't pretend to be anything other that what it is, a well made comfort scent for those who love this concept of a perfume but who demand an excellent product. The price for the quality (literally lasted 12 hours on me, projection was arm length for at least a couple hours then became a skin scent only I could invite others to enjoy) is astounding. If your looking for peppery, spicy, different vanilla at a lower price point, I'd suggest Divine Vanille. This one is for true gourmand lovers with a capital G.

One word: WOW I have been pretty disappointed recently trying to find a perfume that really impresses me as a gourmand lover. We are all tired of bianco latte and yum bougee dna.... So to me, this is quite “unique”. I wasn’t expecting something so edible and photorealistic. It does really remind me of cheirosa 71 but without that strong alcoholly smell it has in the opening that throws some people off. It is such a buttery vanilla, kind of like a sugary sweet butter cookie. That “buttery” or “pastry-like” note is what makes people think of 71, i totally see that, they are right. Oh i’m so glad i got this, i was sick of failed blind buys and this was a total hit 😍😍 if you enjoy that cheirosa 71 dna you will totally love this. Where have you been all my life???

Yum. I ordered about 10 vanilla based scents from Scent Split and I'm mad that this is one of the ones I got in 1mL. Its probably my favorite out of all of them. It's vanilla, a buttery, delightful vanilla. I can't get over how rich and buttery it smells. It's a strong vanilla and I'm happy about that because too many of the vanillas I sampled were just skin scents after the dry down. I thought this was going to be too simple but it's not. If you like buttery scents, you'll love this one. I love buttery scents so this is perfect for me. I love popcorn scents too (Miss Dior Cherie, Idole Nectar) but this is not giving popcorn. No sandalwood detected and thank god, I am SO tired of all the Vanilla & Sandalwood combo vanilla scents. This trend needs to stop.

I normally find that most indie brands have more realistic and "true" gourmand scents; it's just that unfortunately, most of them come in oil form. This is why most "true" gourmand scents are difficult to find in EDP/extrait concentration. Well, my search of Christmas cookies in extrait concentration is OVER! I can tell you that this perfume is VERY realistic! I am just impressed with this one, as this the MOST REALISTIC, buttery and sweet Christmas sugar cookie scent EVER! This was love at-first-sniff, and I sure as hell did not hesitate to buy a full-size bottle. So far, projection and sillage are pretty decent, and longevity is very good. This is a gourmand lovers dream, and this is perfect for Christmas! LOVE LOVE LOVE!

I present the new holy-grail fragrance for gourmand fanatics and vanilla addicts alike. This is Accident À La Vanille and it’s one of the most dense gourmands I’ve EVER come across. This fragrance is a thicc, curvaceous, absolutely voluptuous vanilla. Accident À La Vanille smells like a heavy slice of butterscotch pound cake. The recipe for this decadent perfume calls for a 1:1:1 ratio of melted-toffee, rich butter, and smooth vanilla cream. It’s a dreamy scent that radiates warmth and carries a balanced sweetness that is never too saccharine. It’s a dessert fit for a king. Jousset has some lovely gourmand offerings but this one has to be my house favorite! Perfume Realm 💙

Bought it after a single smell test while shopping for a last minute Christmas gift. It ended up in the hands of an over-active 10 year old who thought it smelled like a fresh baked cookie. She then proceeded to literally saturate the furniture with this. I know I should have stopped her, but A) it was not my child, B) it was not my house and to C) I might have been high and didn't feel like getting up. The Christmas party was a blast, no one complained, lots of people sniffing the air confused that there were no actual cookies to be had. A few weeks later the entire house has a faint but absolutely delicious smokey vanilla smell.

Very very delicious, creamy, thick, sugary, buttery vanilla. This makes my mouth water. It smells like cake batter you’re about to pour into the tin to bake, but it also smells like a fresh warm vanilla cake coming out of the oven. This makes me feel so cozy and girly. It is pretty one dimension though, but it’s something I don’t mind considering the notes. Longevity is just ok. It lasts about a good 3 hrs on my skin. For a parfum, I expected it to last longer, but this is the only vanilla I love. I’m looking for a body lotion and a candle that smells similar to this scent, if anyone knows please let me know!

I like this perfume. Blind bought. Would love to write an entertaining story about it however this review will be purely functional because that’s what this perfume is. It’s a well made, gourmand vanilla, slightly feminine. Smells like Ex Idolo Love and Crime except cheaper - or better value I should say. Has that Montale cake vibe only better. I guess it’ll spare me my Ex Idolo - using it for those special occasions instead and this for regular use - that’s how I look at it. Yes, like a creme brûlée, ambery sugar. Despite Extrait build smells weaker than other comparable products. Happy not blown away.

This is an addictive, elegant, and luscious vanilla. Very gourmand and fortunately it lacks the cloying component that a lot of dessert-type vanillas possess. The vanilla here is mouthwatering with a creamy base that makes the composition a bit resinous and thick. To me, it's the creaminess that elevates its appeal. I've been testing it for the last few days and I'm digging it. I cannot stop sniffing my wrist. It's really beautiful! I already own Tihota so I probably won't buy a full bottle, but I'm going to enjoy every last drop of my delicious sample.

I was looking for a long time for a sweet gourmand vanilla scent and I have accidentally come across someone’s comment about this perfume. I first ordered a sample on Jousset official website and it was love at first sniff. I have become obsessed with how yummy this perfume smells. I have only just received my full bottle and I’m in heaven.I’m not good at describing smells and all I can say is that it’s pure delicious vanilla,it’s warm and cozy, it makes me smile every time I smell it.This will become my signature perfume.

Love this vanilla. Warm, fun and despite the biscuit vibes, still sophisticated. I like that this doesn’t have a lot of different notes going on, but it’s still an interesting and unique vanilla. It luckily doesn’t have that sugary dry-down (at least on my skin) that a lot of vanillas have and I don’t like. Lasts a long time. Not a lot of projection, but that is also not necessary, as it’s better to lure people in than if they can smell you from a distance and don’t want to come closer.

I am a huge fan of gourmands and have a few in my collection. But this. This is the most gourmand fragrance I have ever smelled. It smells like actual food. Not just gourmand notes, but something you could actually eat. If I close my eyes I swear there's a plate of sugar cookies in front of me. But that's it. Just sugar cookies. Maybe a cup of milk beside it. I'm not sure I would purchase this but it sure gives me a sweet tooth.

Mmmmm yum !! I do not like and cannot stand sol de janeiro 71, too popcorny lol makes me gag so was scared to buy this but guys, THIS is scrumptious!! Smooth buttery cookies with loads of vanilla and drizzle of cocoa/caramelishh vibe on my skin!! Could not stop salivating. Very well blended! It really is gorgeous Edit: put this one then layer it with bianco latte then buontalenti on top, it’s FIRE 🔥

Stunning mouthwatering vanilla, this brand does vanilla really well. Very creamy vanilla well balanced with woody notes and a light burned vanilla feeling which balances the sweetness (i actually think this would fit better the name gourmand bakhoor), still a sweet scent but not over the top. Not a gourmand lover here, but loved this one, really delicious and not sickly sweet

This is a very silky, smooth buttery vanilla with a slight popcorn note. It sits close to the skin and forms like a luxurious second skin. This isn't a complex smell. It's pretty one-dimensional, but a widely likable gourmand scent. Smell: 10 out of 10 Longevity: 7 out of 10 Feminine For reference, I'm female.

This is a top tier vanilla. Dreamy creamy scent. I like it much better than the awesome Thiota. I wasn't prepared for how good this one is, and the creaminess is off the charts. EDIT - must be comfortable with compliments. I get them every time I wear this one I totally concur with "buzz72" review below 100%

Unfortunately, I really love it. It’s very fluffy and pastry like. I say unfortunately because it is way too expensive and lasts only a few hours on me, which is a shame. Edit: Got the dupe from Dua and it smells exactly the same but lasts and projects waaaay more! If you want to save some bucks, go for it!

I regret buying this. Sigh. Wish I would have gone with the Creme de Berry one. I like buttery notes but this is like slathering myself with a stick of butter-more butter than vanilla. This is why you should also get more than a 0.7mL dabber when trying a perfume.

This is a kind of light sultry vanilla. Foodie but wearable. I keep smelling my wrists so it has an addictive quality to it. I think this is almost like a fresh warm vanilla waffle cone. Pretty delicious. My favorite out of the 3 Jousset Parfums I've tried.

This is so addictively delicious. I could drink it. Smells like a vanilla cookie. Bought a small 10 ml decant and I use it sparingly. I don't want to spend the money on a full size unfortunately because it lacks in longevity.

I'm in love... this is straight buttery toffee and vanilla. No complexity..so if that's what you're searching for, you won't get it. This is for simple vanilla gourmand lovers who wants that and that only.

The opening is butter biscuits, then it turns into a warm cup of milk sweetned with honey, settling into pure butter! Very reminiscent of Let the good times roll, it only lasts for 2 seconds though so.

You smell like a pastry shop in best possible way. It`s not only gourmand, it`s edible. For those days when you just want to smell like cosiness and pastries and cheese cake. We all have such days;).

Vanilla and vanilla with vanilla. This is all for vanilla and I'm happy about it. It's more like roasted-bakery kinda vanilla, rather than raw vanilla. Good gourmand!

This is incredible, at first spray it was a little weird to me, so give it a second, but once it settles it's like the richest warm sugar cookies

Smells like Cheirosa 71 and lasts all day !

Jousset Parfums Accident a la Vanille (translated on the house website as “Vanilla Crash”) is from 2021, and has since spawned a few flankers, but this original smells of rich vanilla somewhere between cake/icing and ice cream—sugary but more so creamy, dense and deep, quite interesting while communicating a familiar and relatable experience of in-your-face, fragrant vanilla that conjures desserts. The note listing only involves vanilla, sandalwood, and styrax, with the latter two to round things out and provide some structure, boundaries to this otherwise pure gourmand. I find AALV very easy to enjoy, perhaps easy to love, even, but it’s a little cake-ish to be in the uppermost echelon of vanilla fragrances, at least for me, based on my preferences, but it’s interesting and sumptuous enough that vanilla lovers should definitely try this, and I think it makes a pleasant add-on to any sample order from one of the retailers that carries it. Very nicely done, and I’m happy to continue sample this house after a couple of years. It’s sold in the US by Luckyscent and Sealed Essence at $155-165 for 50ml, in extrait concentration, and performs very well. 7 out of 10

To be honest, at the first time when i tried my decant i was really unimpressed and it left me underwhelmed. ( this first test happened at late springtime- early summertime) It was a very flat, balmy, and vanilin type of vannila on me, what became overwhelmingly sweet on my skin at that time. So, i haven't reach to it... ..Until now! I see a fb post, what was posted one of my friend and in this post she is selling this perfume. I saw this post, and is inspired me to give an other chance to Accident à la vanille. And ahw! Today ( octobre) this fragrance wasn't flat and too simple on me anymore. It becames an innocent but more complex really-really lovely scent on my skin, what is smells like the combination of mildly crispy & powdery biscuits with a mellow milky vanilla and a little bit of light, (more airy than dense) silky butter. It's an alluring and comforting gourmand perfume creation what gives me some cozy, nostalgic vibe from my childhood. ♡

A simple yet buttery, toffee-esque vanilla with a pinch of salt. Unfortunately, the opening on this is quite nauseating, very similar if not nearly identical to cheirosa 71. Personally i really dislike 71 (and thus the opening of this fragrance); the idea of it smells good but in application its very overwhelming and theatre popcorn adjacent. Once that's over with though, it becomes very likable; cake batter like, warm, sweet and a twinge of salt that doesn't smell savory *at all*. It's a beautiful scent. Once it starts to fade, it becomes a pretty simple vanilla, but still remains elegant. Smells yummy and pastry like, but it's wear time is very short and overall not worth the heavy price tag unless you absolutely adore it. (try a sample first! ex: luckyscents) I'd wear it if gifted to me, though I'd still have some aversions to the opening I can't lie. tdlr: Bad opening, fantastic dry down. It's an odd love/hate relationship for sure.

I bought the limited edition full bottle of Accident Paradis Blanc and received samples of the OG Accident which I hadn't tried before. I bought Paradis Blanc on the strength of positive reviews about Jousset being super gourmand and the thought of passing up another limited edition was unbearable lol Anyway, I have tried Accident À La Vanille a couple of times now and I don't dislike it. It hasn't captivated me like Kayali Vanilla 28, YSL's Babycat and some other vanilla scents, but I think it'll grow on me. It's the most edible vanilla so far. Milky, candy vanilla. Vanilla 28 isn't complex either but it's like smelling vanilla extract for neutral usage if that makes sense? Accident À La Vanille is very definitely food vanilla. I think it'll be fun to layer it with denser scents. Paradis Blance should hopefully add some dimension. Not opening until my birthday later this month :D

This is as if I had just baked the warmest graham crackers e-v-e-r, coming right out of the oven. To me, this is more of a dry cookie rather than a cake or cupcake. There’s this dry element to it that makes me think of graham cracker but it is truly wonderful. It would be great for layering as well as on its own. Definitely a perfume for gourmand lovers, it doesn’t smell perfume-y to me so it can be off-putting to some. However, I collect vanilla/caramel/gourmand scents and this is right up my alley. Great longevity (7-8 hours) Projection/Sillage are mild but can be strong if you over spray. Price: as of 02/23/2022 it is $165 USD at luckyscents for 50 ml. A little excessive if you ask me but then again, that’s just my humble opinion. All in all, a great addition to my vanilla scents collection, definitely worth the wait!

Pure vanilla butter bomb. straight up gourmand, like spilling sticky pastries all over you. Name feels fitting. Main thing: buttered vanilla cookies, garnished with toffee shavings and coarse salt. it does remind me of that orange sol de janiero body mist a bit (i think its called cheriosa). also that pumpkin pecan candle from bath&body works. whatever that distinctive 'buttery' note is. Definite gourmand in a niche package. My issue: This smells unrefined, like a bunch of gourmand ingredients thrown together and irresponsibly formulated, as such, isn't that wearable. But it's decent for what it is and hard to truly dislike since it's a gourmand. I give it a 6.5/10.

This is a nice graham cracker vanilla. Linear, smooth true vanilla smell. Very gourmand and for vanilla lovers. Not much else to say about this one except if you really love vanilla this is one you should check out. I gave the rest of my sample to my sister, and she went crazy for this. Her signature is Dior's HP and she wants to make a switch to Accident. I am so happy because I will enjoy smelling this on her instead of HP. Accident is a far superior vanilla. Yes, it is expensive but she doesn't collect and only wears a signature most of the time. If you are looking for that "signature" vanilla I think this is the one.

There are many vanillas out there, but to me none of them compare to the Accident A La Vanille. It is not straight up vanilla Extract, it is not powdery, not artificial, not too buttery, not too un-sweet (:D hope you get my point), no unnecessary added weird notes, no woody base or whatever else. It is not in your face scent, so for some it may lack character. But I do totally get the hype about it. It smells so delicious. When I wear it, there is only one word to describe it: tasty. It is tasty, it feeld tasty, I feel tasty... Yum! It is not the single vanilla you need to have, but it is hight in that list.

Of the popular gourmand vanillas, this is the most buttery in nature. If you hate a buttery type of note you won’t like this. It’s like a tin of butter cookies or shortbread. It’s simple, linear, and sweet. It’s a little bit of a candle vanilla but it doesn’t fully go there for me. I think this would be a great option for layering if you wanted to sweeten a fragrance, but it would only work in fall or winter because the butteryness really makes this fragrance somewhat heavy for how simple it is.

Indeed: an amusing "clinical"/very cold/steel start, which quickly turns to toasted hazelnut/quality custard. The contrast is surprising for half a second, and it's quite pleasant overall. Quite unlike chemical vanilla a la JHAG: more like a pastry smell, like a cocooned, gourmet Sunday afternoon. So I agree with Kloka: for those who like vanilla but don't want to wear a sugar bomb. Certainly not memorable, but well made for what it advertises, and very very comforting.

I must be anosmic to something here, because I'm not getting much beyond the scent of a very realistic coconut. Or for those familiar to the smell, it's like a pandan dessert, but done right because it's very soft and realistic. Nothing artificial or synthetic here. Lovely, but I feel as though the fragrance is incomplete or just too light. I'm going to try this again and update my review if it changes.
