Find Me In The Dark

Oh my God! Am I the first to review this incredible gem?! I bought this as a gift for my boyfriend, heavily influenced by my never-ending quest to find a perfect earthy oak-moss. The description on their website is very accurate. Rainy evening, rain is stopped. You are in the forest, want to burry a precious little treasure. There's this layer of dead leaves, the moss and some broken branches. You dig with your bare hands, the soil is half moist. You stop for a bit and smell that intoxicating soil, the moss around it. You enjoy being alive and witnessing the miracle of simply being out in nature, in a secular forest. There's a very discrete note to make it a bit perfumey, to tone down the wild, strong earthy moss + patchouli. Might be the blackberry that does the trick. I have no words, I am sure this will smell divine on my boyfriend. His birthday is next month, I will secretly smell this everyday till then :-))

And so it happened. Manifesto l'Elixir lands in second place. There's a new King. Find Me in the Dark seems to have been made for me. I have a fragment of the dark forest from Norne and the fruity sweetness of Enchanted Forest, without the scent morphing into warm woods like Vagabond Prince. The opening is black earth from the depths of the forest and ripe grape bunches trampled on it, sprinkled with fir needles. I smell a wonderful, deep earthiness, clouded with fir needles, sweetened with purple fruit, and spiced with forest herbs. It's slightly sweet, tart, strongly liqueur-like, and darkly fairytale-like. The scent has a certain truffle-like quality known from Black Orchid, but they are not similar. On the one hand, Find Me In The Dark is as luminous as a Christmas tree, but on the other, its glow is tinged with the dirt of a foxhole. There's not a shred of unpleasant note in it, and not for a moment do they remind me of hard candy. After a while, I smell soft wood sprinkled with blackberry juice. There's also a certain roughness and pepperiness, but also the creaminess of blackberry ice cream made with heavy cream. It's wonderful! It may not have as wonderful an opening as Enchanted Forest, but the way it smells after settling in is masterful! It makes me feel like I'm looking at someone I love. It's hard to tear my nose away from a hand sprinkled with it. I'm in a fairytale forest, just after sunset, illuminated by fireflies. After four years, the resin filling half the bottle broke off and clogged the atomizer. I rarely used the perfume because it's unavailable, and now I can't use it at all unless I disassemble the bottle (it's beautiful, what a shame).
