Gourmand Bakhoor

I just got this in the mail today and I was a bit nervous spraying it due to all the comments saying it smells like spoilt milk. But I’m so happy it smells amazing😍 This smells nothing like spoilt milk. At least not to my nose. To me this is the most delicious, scrumptious, creamy, lactonic toffee scent. It’s milky, smooth, and super sweet. Imagine a thick and gooey caramel/toffee sauce poured over milky vanilla icecream. It’s exactly that! I actually do see similarities with buontalenti, except gourmand bukhoor is a more caramel and milky version of it. Also I detect zero incence, leather or smoke, so if you were worried about that, don’t be. It’s purely a toffee, caramelly milky scent. 🥛🍮 Overall, LOVE LOVE LOVE. I would say this is not a safe blind buy unless you are an extreme gourmand lover like myself. I imagine this wouldn’t be everybody’s cup of tea, but if you love super sweet and edible caramel milky scents, you will adore this one. Also, although it is super gourmand, it still remains pleasant and wearable as it isn’t too sickeningly sweet or overly foody. Ps. This stuff is very potent and long lasting. And the new jousset bottles and packaging are gorgeous and a huge improvement from the old packaging. 10/10

I'm shocked to read so many "bad" reviws about this beautiful Gourmand! But maybe I can understand a little bit becuose it's super sweet, and even gourmand lovers are not the same with sweet tolerance. Even for me it wasn't a love at first sniff. But I liked it from the start! I love the "milky" tones of it, and I love that it's a beast mode sweet blast. Not so many perfumes knows how to be realy milky/lactonic but this scent realy gives you sweet vanillic milk vibes! In my whole fragrance joureny I'm hunting for this kinde of "sweet vanillic milk" kinde of scents but in the end they turn out to be something that realy far from a real milky/lactonic fragrance! I tryed Comptoir Sud Pacifique - vanilla milky fragrances but... NO. They are spicey vanillas, fruty vanillas. But not the real smell of an actual vanillic milk. This has a very close vibe of it but actualy it's more sweeter then what I'm actualy think of when I'm talking about vanillic milk. But I grown to love and appreciate this fragrance! And I feel myself lucky that I was able to get my hands on it. I have a beautiful white&gold bottle version. I think that bottle color more suitable for this beautiful fragrance inside!

Mouth watering salted caramel and toffee. I wish the smoke accord was stronger. It's faint; almost absent. It performs like eau de toilette. I sprayed once on the chest and back to test and I couldn't smell it on myself. I had to double check the concentration. I will purchase a bottle and over spray each application. This scent is indulgent and addicting and warm. 9 month update. when I wore this, someone said I smelled like play-doh, and another person said i smelled like chapstick. I never thought Gourmand Bakhoor smelled like either of these things but I can't say either are far fetch. I've been blind sided by these perceptions and now im self conscious.

Miele e cioccolato bianco, con solo un tocco leggero e bilanciatissimo di bakhoor. Dolce e cremoso, appena spruzzato mi ha ricordato il profumo di una crema corpo che usavo da ragazzina e che uso ancora oggi: CIOCCOLATO BIANCO di Acquolina. L’incenso è appena accennato, quasi impercettibile: lo dice una che di solito non ama le note incensate. Curiosamente, nella piramide olfattiva su Fragrantica non è riportato il cioccolato bianco, presente invece tra le note di fondo dichiarate sul sito ufficiale di Jousset — ma per me è la nota più evidente di tutta la fragranza. I love it! I go bananas over gourmands lately. Smells like milky candies, smells like toffee, vanilla. The discrete incense I get is the Hinoki. I am very nostalgic of Japan and this particular smell is very well reproduced. It is not the "in your face" cheap incense sticks you find everywhere. It is very very special, hinoki. It is like just getting out from a Japanese temple, in a nice, warm autumn day. You sit quietly on a bench outside. You can still smell the serene incense from the temple and sip from a delicious caramel latte. I want to smell it over and over.

I love it, its a very good fragrance, it is just as described in the notes. I can smell the caramel, a very sweet toffee caramel, with a lactonic or buttery touch, and then there is that smoky touch of incense and leather. It is has nice sillage and longevity. I am happy. I don't usually like leather in perfumery, but in general the incense and leather in this one give the caramel and the sweet part that interesting and different touch. It doesn't bother me, I feel that it elevates the fragrance. It is an interesting gourmand. I recommend trying it!

This smells like delicious, lactonic, sticky, toffee to me. It’s rich, creamy, a little smoky, I don’t get any leather or ANY spoiled milk thank God. Maybe these people are using this in the middle of summer? I’ve made that mistake before. Or they just smell it differently. Luckily, my skin likes this perfume. I find that lactonic notes do well for me but on other’s they can go sour. Yes, on me this is just delicious super buttery toffee. Yum!

I can't believe the bad reviews - this definitely doesn't smell like sour milk or sweet yoghurt... I blind- bought it and was absolutely delighted to find out it's just a sweeter version of MILK by Commodity! The smoke and incense are ever so light - it's quite gourmand and dense: mg boyfriend said it's his fave on me! If you like sweet dense lactonic scents that last- go for it !

This is a great gourmand. It is like a caramel sundae and will render compliments. On it's own it can be considered too sweet unless you love sweet fragrances and are partial to gourmands. However, it is exceptional as a layering choice. I layered with Baroanda by Nassomato and it blended into a nutty textured buttery sweet sundae. Absolutely wonderful on a cold day.

Wow this is good. It's super sticky sweet caramel and toffee is utterly mouth watering. Just sprayed my sample on myself, will edit this review later for update. 4 hours later and I can still smell it. OMG it's good. I love this!! I WILL OWN THIS at some point. Worth buying. 100%

This smells like a creamy luxurious milky caramel. The scent changes and at times I smell incense and something like a coffee creamer. This is fire.

Just a beautiful mix of gourmand and laconic notes. It’s very unique yet easy to wear. It’s sweet milky and smoky in the best way.

First sampling from Jousset Parfums, Gourmand Bakhoor, a fittingly sweet fragrance with a good reputation that I was keen to get my nose on. And sweet, it is: upon first spray, it’s really a powerful sugary, doughy, milky mix that smells of baked goods, with vague hints of caramel, vanilla, and chocolate, and resinous undertones (the bakhoor itself). I do not detect the listed leather note, but still, the effect is one of a nearly full gourmand, even there are non-food notes as well. There’s some nuance to Gourmand Bakhoor but it feels intense, almost blunt, an olfactory overload of sweets that, while a bit varied, is still almost overwhelming. It’s quite loud in the opening and remains fairly dense on skin thereafter, so there’s no knocking its performance, but the scent does not dazzle me overall, especially since there are vibrant/realistic gourmand offerings that are superior from Hilde Soliani and Kyse Perfumes, and at better prices, no less. Still, Gourmand Bakhoor and other Jousset Parfums offerings are sold by Sealed Essence and Luckyscent in the US, and Gourmand Bakhoor itself is among the more affordable offerings from Jousset Parfums, with retail pricing at $95 for 50ml in extrait concentration, very reasonable in today’s market, in my opinion. So while it does not strike me as a superb gourmand offering, it’s certainly worth trying, especially for gourmand fans, but even those who might generally shy away from gourmands might like it quite a bit. 7 out of 10

This is a lovely, if linear, gourmand. It smells like very sweet, almost sharp buttery toffee. I don’t really get the promised lactonic note beyond a richer, deeper toffee effect. There *is* smoke, incense, and leather here, but it’s all very smooth, well-blended, and tucked low in the profile. The result enriches the scent rather than pulling it into church or saddle territory. Personally, I’d prefer a bit more of that church and saddle. I can see why some people skip over the Bakhoor entirely and focus on the gourmand side. Still, it’s very easy to wear, more sophisticated than the Cheirosas it sometimes gets compared to. The sweetness feels mood-lifting, even though its tone is on the darker side. There is something skirting overly synthetic to one of the accords, I would recommend not blind buying for this reason. The longevity is beastly.

It is extremely sweet, cloying, and creamy. The scent resembles a milk caramel candy, similar to “La Vaquita”—a hard yet chewy sweet made of milk and caramel, intensely sugary. The sweetness is very pronounced, so you really need to enjoy caramel notes to appreciate this fragrance. The main drawback is its high price relative to its performance. On my skin, it lasted approximately 6 hours. During the first two hours, the projection is moderate; afterward, it becomes very intimate, staying close to the skin until it nearly fades away. Overall, I believe there are better options available on the market, especially in terms of longevity and value for money.

First of all I have to say Jeremy who owns the company was so helpful in helping me out with my order, so I really love the company for that alone! I have to say this was not as strong as I expected for an extrait de parfum (sillage was quite weak on me, but it does last). I also would’ve like to smell a little more of the bakhoor and the leather smokiness, but to me it smells a little simple. I've had my bottle for about a week and I think if I leave it to mature a little in the bottle, it should improve, so I will update my review! I can see this being great for layering though.

A gigantuous pile of caramel sauce or toffee, dipped in and absorbed a lot of milk... When I first took a sniff of it, I was like yeahhh let's buy it, it's soooo delicious and gourmand...it indeed is, but can be a bit too much, overwhelming, cloying. Even some gourmand lovers will be on the fence about it! I made 2 of my acquiantances have a sniff of my hand when I sprayed on it and both asked me if it was stale? It has never occurred to me, I only feel the caramel and milk in it...not for everyone, that's for sure!

Received my FB earlier this week and smells totally different than my bottle from 21'. I get the Play-doh note right off the bat. I also get a slight peach nuance as well. Creamy caramel and coffee notes show up during the deep dry-down. I will let it sit until next Fall/Winter as I purchased it on the Jousset website for around $75 bucks, so no biggie there. I had to do the same thing will A a la V Madeline de Proust and it is such a beautiful and long-lasting scent now.

This is a great gourmand! The dominant scent in this is condensed milk! Also, I feel some nice black tea in it. Like if you were having some tea with biscuits. It is very sweet, rich, sticky, milky and also salty, like salted caramel at the same time. Also, a slight bit of nutmeg. I do really like it, the initial blast is pretty strong and it does last, only though it does so by staying pretty close to skin :)

This opens like the stickiest toffee, condensed milk kind of butterscotchy/lactonic feel, but a strange thing happens as it blooms. Surely there is peach in here. It gets peachy and chewy, in a very similar playdoh-scented peach vibe of Peau de Peche. It's incredibly non-linear -- one minute molasses-like milk, the next a little peachy iris pastry, like Hamantaschen with a peach jam filling.

I rescind my previous review. I had a headache when I tested it for the first time. Tried it again tonight, and it's awesome. As gourmand as it gets. This is pure dulce de leche. I don't get smoke or leather. Long lasting, barely any projection on me.

Smooth. Caramel, smoke, and a little orange on me. Not too much of one or another. Just smooth. Like it alot but it's not my style at this place and time. Androgynous to me. Almost reminds me of baklava and cow tail candies.

LOVE this going on. Drydown isn't spectacular though. ALMOST a bit of playdough afterwards. It's more Easy Bake Oven than Gourmand but in a fun way. Appeals to my inner child once in awhile.

One of my favorite gourmands in my collection. I get creamy vanilla caramel with some incense. Lasts forever on clothes with average projection. worth the asking price. 28-MAR-2024

i was told that on me this perfume smells like sour grapes, cognac perhaps?? lol i did try to mix this perfume with Sol Cheirosa’62 doll de janeiro, worked great, smelled delicious

Smells of raw cocoa butter sort of gourmand, somewhat smoky, boozy opening. Reminiscent of Captain Morgan rum inside a fresh cut coconut. A balmy suntan lotion for pirates.

I usually like lactonics a lot, but something in this one makes me slightly nauseous. Way, way, way too sweet.

Gourmand Bakhoor is just another pleasant perfume which wants to be a great gourmand but fails in my opinion. It’s sweet and delicious in the opening but it has a bit of a sour milk undertone on my skin. Can’t detect neither the leather note (thankfully) nor the incency one. In a nutshell, this is just a smoky caramel scent. Nothing memorable about it as smell or performance. Happy to had the chance to try a sample but it’s not for me. I love gourmand scents more than any type of fragrance but I want something rich, deep, complex intense, refined, interesting and Gourmand Bakhoor is none of these. Just another forgettable scent with moderate performance. There are better fragrances out there for sure. The bottle design looks very appealing to my eyes though.

Unfortunately, I cannot appreciate this one at all. I’ve been using it as a room/bathroom spray, but even that is difficult. It can be manageable in the air, but for $100+, it’s definitely not FBW. All that aside, I will say that I agree with the comment below that says that this perfume smells like vanilla hookah. It does have a smoky, lactonic, caramel vibe but it’s not blended in a refined way whatsoever. This scent also smells like an artificial bakery or pastry, and that’s why I do not wear this on my clothes or skin. My partner and I both dislike this perfume and unfortunately it was a blind buy fail. Btw, after my sister smelled all my perfumes - this is the ONLY one that she said was disgusting. Overall: 2/10

Gourmand Bakhoor is one of the sweetest perfumes that I have worn so far. This fragrance is characterized by gooey caramel and a very pronounced lactonic note. I prefer to wear it when spending time outdoors because it is too heavy, and sometimes even headache-inducing, when worn indoors. Personally, I do not detect the leather or incense notes, they are somehow drowned by the sweetness. I also agree that it smells very similar to Vanilla Cake by Montale. However, Vanilla Cake has more layers thanks to the noticeable almond and vanilla notes and it dries down less sweet than the linear Gourmand Bakhoor.

If you have ever used Vaseline’s tiny Lip Therapy Cocoa Butter edition , then you know what this smells like. All I smell is cocoa butter . Dont get any caramel. Mostly a baby powder cocoa butter concoction...... not sure if full bottle worthy **** update 11.2.2021 After some time testing this out... I believe there are some good qualities of this fragrance. To me it smells at first like a caramel sundae, as it dries down, it becomes smokey like a caramel hookah. I like the initial spray better than the dry down. I would suggest you try it if you loves gourmand fragrances.

This is mostly for my reference - it's a lovely fragrance really potent scent, and it has something almost almond extract-y about it which I love. It also has something buttery and sweet, again really lovely, but it also goes a bit plasticky. It has a quality that reminds me of a sweet flavored chapstick like old school lip smackers butterscotch or caramel. It's okay but not one of the better gourmands in general, or from this house.

Delicious, but a bit too much for me. I agree with vanillacaramelcoffee, “Extremely thick, rich, creamy lactonic” caramel and toffee... waaay too sweet/gourmand on its own (for me), but works with rose lotion and Oud & Oud.

Not a fan of the scent itself, but it’s technically impressive, it reads like a bouquet of gourmand notes with no sharp edges. I can appreciate it on someone walking past me, but I wouldn’t wear it.

almonds and spoiled milk is the scent combo on me. I was hoping for more vanilla. I think I'm not a fan of lactonic fragrances and possibly caramel, too.

Dark caramel scent with a plastic-y background. Like an artificial version of Angel's Share. Not nice.

I just received samples of Gourmand Bakhoor, the Special Edition version, and African Queen. I really, really wanted to like this perfume but I am getting intense Matin Calin flashbacks from Comptoir Sud Pacifique. I hate to say that this scent reminds me of baby formula or overcooked milk left to simmer on the stove for too long and now it has a nasty skin on it. Just...yucky all around. I love gourmands and was hoping this would be a nice, super sweet, obnoxious caramel scent from the reviews I read and watched but unfortunately, it isn't. It smells like old milk, or the grease that gets stuck under your nails when you make a bag of popcorn, just a sickly, not very sweet, oily, mess of a perfume that's trying way too hard to smell like something from Serge Lutens. I have no idea why the full bottle is sold out everywhere this is available, so godspeed to anyone who just blew 95 USD to smell like milky baby farts...

I ocassionally use Hawaiian Tropic tanning oil as a fragrance. This reminds me very(!) much(!) of that smell, but with lactonic-bilic type acidity, which makes it smells curdled. Agree it is a little bit boozy, like a milk-rum-kahlua cocktail that got left on the counter overnight. However, I would still say the Hawaiian Tropic sensibility accounts for about 85-90% of the fragrance.

I'm shocked to say this was an instant scrubber for me, and that almost never happens. I swear there are some nutty notes missing here, maybe a chesnut or even praline, because the combination of the sweet nuttiness with the lactonic notes reads like curdled flavored nut milk on my skin. It actually made me nauseous.

Gourmand Bakhoor by Jousset Parfums – 4/10 Way too expensive for what it is. It’s overly sweet to the point where it gets annoying, and there’s also an odd smell in the mix that just throws it off. Honestly, Tobacco Oud by Theodoros Kalotinis smells way better and costs less. Wouldn’t recommend this one.

something in this is just really off putting, sort of reminds me of expired dairy products. i can't pinpoint what it is exactly, bit it was enough to make me scrub it off after an hour. i hoped it would sort of, go away as it dried down but nope. thankful i only sampled this

Milky cake scent. If you've ever sampled a batch of gourmand indie oils (and they pretty much all have this same smell when they veer off into vanilla territory), you already know what I'm talking about--ubiquitous and boring.

I wanted to love this, I really did. I was praying the caramel and the toffee would be enough to keep it from smelling like spoiled milk on me but alas, my prayers were NOT answered. The moment it hit my skin and I took a whiff I wanted to gag. It was giving baby bottle milk that had been sitting in a car in 100 degree heat for a week. I told myself to give it awhile to dry down and see what happened. Couldn't do it, an hour later I was washing my arm off and I've never done that. Even after scrubbing the scent still softly lingered in my skin and it was so...disgusting. I'm glad I only got a decant if it because had it been a full bottle I would have been upset.

Good Lord this is thoroughly vile perfumery, an abomination to the industry highlighting everything wrong with the gourmand craze. It is unspeakably sickly and headache-inducing; I genuinely cannot fathom how this even made it past the concept stage let alone approved for sale. The caramel is far too strong, with this nasty milky facet and something burning. It smells like a block of marzipan left in the oven to burn whilst you sip on an overtly sugary, milky coffee. It is utterly nauseating and borderline diabetic. I am at a loss for words. Are there genuinely people who enjoy smelling like this? It feels like this perfume might actually affect my blood sugar.

To give you an idea of what this smells like, If you like Xerjoff Italica, then you will like this. Not exactly the same, but it gives me a very similar vibe and smells very close to my nose at least. This is strong & smells great, so be warned two sprays will do it, unless you are crazy like me. This is a very creamy/milky, caramel, honey & vanilla prominent fragrance all wrapped up and supported by a dark/smokey undertone, that I’m assuming is the Bakhoor element of the fragrance. There is also an Almond note that’s present and lingers around and just adds to the overall feel of the fragrance. Please do not think of this as just a sweet fragrance, because it is not that, this has some complexity, darkness and depth to it as much as a gourmand fragrance can. Once again, I would point you to Xerjoff Italica if you want comparisons. Yes it’s sweet, but funnily enough despite the nature of the notes it’s not too sweet or juvenile sweet all, it’s blended just right for it to have a grownup/mature appeal and it is definitely a unisex fragrance to. If you love gourmands, then this is a must have. Definitely a cold weather fragrance. I can’t say exactly what it smells like in terms of food, but just envisage yourself sitting in a dessert parlour in the Middle-East, and all you can smell is an extremely rich aroma comprising of creamy/milky wrapped elements that include toffee, vanilla, burnt sugar, almonds, honey and caramel all lingering in the air and some Bakhoor burning in the background. This is a love for me and well done on this one.

Very gourmand. Caramel+toffee. Maybe a hint of incense... from some of the reviews I was nervous about this one. But no, it's delicious. I don't smell plastic at all. But it is synthetic smelling. But again - I don't mind that at all. Definitely sweet and fully gourmand. Reminds me of something DUA would make, like one of their "DUA Original" sharp caramel scents. And I love those too! (Well the ones I love anyways - I don't love all of them*). So, for a 50ml this may be priced a little high for what it is. Considering there are Indie/Dupe houses that create things very similar. And similar quality. But it's still fun! And I bought it 2nd hand at a discount so I'm not mad about it. I wonder if the whole Jousset line is like this too? The DUAs cost about 34ml/$40 and this is 50ml/$90ish? I also have the Accident Berry DUA dupe and that's delicious. But I've never tried the original. Now I'm thinking that the quality is probably about the same anyway. The reason I will pay more for perfumes, instead of getting a dupe or some cheapie that's similar - is for the quality. In this case dunno if that matters.
