La Tarte Tatin

I love gourmand fragrances and this is def a gourmand scent. On paper the apple really comes through, though on my skin the caramel, tonka bean and vanilla take precedence with the apple in the background. The final dry down is a warm, cozy cake-like vanilla scent just like their traditional vanilla they are known for. Though this is gourmand, the dry down is more of a unisex vibe to me. I think it would compliment a great fragrance combo for both men and women, though the initial spray does lean more feminine. This will do well in colder weather, but if paired right I feel can also be worn in warmer weather. I read the below reviews of people suggesting it smells like cedar and celery...I personally do not get either of those, so like all fragrances it will depend on the individual. If you like other Jousset fragrances then this should be a safe blind buy. I own 3 of them so far and they all have that same vanilla base which I personally vibe with. For me the projection and longevity are both moderate...longevity, it does last on paper for several days. On my skin it calms down after a few hours, so if you want it to project I suggest spraying it on both skin & clothes.

If you’re like me who easily becomes nose blind to parfums, this is the one! The Queen of projection and silage. Stays on skin over 24 hours! On clothes even after washing. Not for sensitive noses for sure, but it is surely unique. Very high quality of ingredients as well. The price for 50 ml is justified, as you will only need 1 spray on your wrist that you can distribute behind your ears and chest. I love this scent!

This is fragrance smells delicious. If you like sickly sweet gourmands then you will probably like this one. Very warm cozy brown sugar & maple bar doughnuts. It smells like opening the door to a small bakery with warm baked goods fresh out of the oven.

I have a dabber from luckyscent. I cannot imagine buying a bottle. To be fair I like this scent because it’s apple pie and maple syrup pancakes, I love a good gourmand and this fits the bill. Disclaimer though, this fragrance is nuclear, it permeated the whole bag of samples I got and once I finally found the culprit I separated it from the rest. But simply opening the dabber meant it lingered on my fingers for the whole day despite multiple handwashings. I have put the isolated dabber in my closet. My closet smells of maple syrup. I put one tiny dab on my wrist while at work and someone asked about baked goods from the hallway outside my door. It was me. It lasted the whole day and when I was at the gym with my husband he remarked “the smell of pancakes keeps following me”. It was me, again.

I get the negative comments on this, because on my mrs it smells very wierd.. but everbody has a different skin chemistry and skin type! DO NOT BLIND BUY THIS! definetly give this one a try on skin before purchasing. On me this settles down really nicely, bit of burnt sugar with the apple and caramel dominating. Longevity on skin: 10/10 12+ hrs Longevity on clothes: weeks... Sillage: out of this world.

I get more of a cherry than an apple but it's really nice- I also don't get gasoline at all?

cloth test: top: pastry dough and green apple peeling pectin middle: sweet green apple, raw brown sugar base: cooked brown sugar / carmelized sugar, baked pie, vanilla. evaporated from the cloth quickly. It's like the experience of making something in the kitchen with green apples, starting one project previously with cutting the peelings off to render fruit pectin for jelly. The actual apple part becomes a pie or crisp because it's already cut and needs to be used. Then we have the sweet pie and sugar after that. This is everything I wanted in a green apple peelings pectin smell after I experienced it as a nostalgic top note in I Am Trash but hated the base note. Yay! I have a green apple fragrance! Which doesn't smell like green apple scented shampoo or turn into an awful base note. And replicates the experience of making the thing, not just eating it. It's exactly what I was looking for. skin test: green apple, buttery, just enough pastry and sweetness to not smell like Suave shampoo. Just right. It stayed longer on my skin than on cloth, but was also more linear. I got the top notes and middle notes in the intended correct order with sugar first and apple second but I prefer it the other way. I will wear it on both cloth and skin to get the full effect. To me the exact scent of Granny Smith apples reminds me of late summer and early fall because we picked them for the pectin content of the peel when making grape jelly, so it corresponds to the grape harvest in Sonoma, California. Of course for other uses they are kept and baked all winter. So for me the seasonality runs from Augst through winter.

Jousset's La Tarte Tartin, launched in 2023, is a high-quality and intense extrait de parfum with eternal longevity. If the apple were more prominent, as it would be in an actual apple tart, its fresh fruitiness might have mitigated the overpowering maple-syrup note that lingers days after applying. this smells very delicious. not getting apple pie like others, just pure maple and brown sugar. but literally the strongest perfume i've ever worn. absolutely fills the entire room and could last days. sickeningly sweet, will not be for everyone at all. i like the smell itself but it's too strong and i would not wear it around other people.

yes there is the vibe of tarte tatin, specifically the burnt sugar, that for someone can have a strong effect, like tyre or burned plastic, but the apple note is missing. It is not a safe blind buy, but once the first part will progress, the medium and base notes will give you the best fall gourmand fragrance on you skin. Addictive !

This is a sweet maple syrup winter sort of scent. It's nice but I don't need more than my decant. I wore this to Thanksgiving and when I walked in the room my aunt asked, "Who's eating syrup??" LOL

The notes look perfect, I almost made a blind buy, but luckily I got a sample because it settles down to celery on the skin. It's not a scrubber, but it isn't worth the price.

DO NOT BUY THIS! I loved Le Gourmand from Jousset and from the notes alone I thought this would be amazing and I blindly bought it. Don't. Just don't. Some of the other reviewers described the smell accurately, it does NOT smell like an apple pie, it is rancid.

Smells like burnt apple. Not the good kind. The kind you scape from the pan after attempting and failing to cook an apple crumble or something, taste to see if it's just caramelised, scrunch your face at the bitterness, then throw away. :/ Issa no. 😑

Do NOT blind buy like I did..... very unique smell and the salt is very prominent for me. Very synthetic and not like the notes describes..... has to scrub it off

This is the worst smelling abomination I have in my entire collection. It smells like straight up Maggi Seasoning on my skin. To make it even worse it has got infinite longevity. Even what didn't land on my skin but on the floor was so powerful (in the worst possible way) that it made the whole house stink. Had to scrub it off of me AND the floor and it still lingered for several days. I can't even put it up for sale with a clear conscience...

I love this house, but this creation is something that I can't explain with words..please don't blind buy it cause my personal experience is that it stinks ,really bad ,like fried ,oil, something like Indian restaurant's smells...my friends colleagues ,hate it!!!and had the most negative reviews when I wore it !!its not the notes ,its what sense it leaves...

This smells like a cheap fall/winter candle. As others have mentioned, it smells like burnt celery. I hate it and immediately gave away my sample. It also lasts forever, I can't even scrub it off. This is NOT a safe blind buy. Update: 10 days later and I can still smell this perfume in my house, not a good thing.

the initial spray smelled so good on me! like a walnut, caramelised apple pastry.. then a few hours later that burned celery smell came through, and I couldn't even scrub it off.. it was so nauseating:(

This smells initially like a buttery caramel and after that... the horror. Smells like curry with fennel seeds. And I can’t wash it off. I even tried using dish soap. It’s not coming off!

This is fantastic! I have been after a good apple pie scent to no prevail until I stumbled upon this masterpiece of a fragrance. I have tried jany - smells too much like an apple pie candle although it is divine I just couldn’t justify the price tag with the fact it’s not very wearable from the synthetic aspect. I own a bottle of la danza - it is more of an airy vanilla with a fresh, crisp apple and cinnamon than a gooey freshly baked apple pie imo and it works fabulously in the spring & summer but doesn’t perform as well in the colder months. I found La tarte tatin to be the perfect in between of those two fragrances so if you found jany was “too much” “too heavy” or “too synthetic” definitely give this one a go, very underrated! And the performance is beastly which is just another plus in my book, also cheaper than jany (at least in the UK). This smells like a gooey caramelised apple, lots of brown sugar, vanilla. There is something a teeny bit booze-like to my nose that is just noticeable enough to give it this incredible dosage of warmth (encouraging that baked apple pie aspect). There is a healthy addition of spices like cinnamon that are quite prominent to my nose and help this scent stay more “toned down”. I can’t get over how realistic this smells too - probably one of the most realistic gourmands I’ve ever had my nose on and I am a gourmand enthusiast! I agree with everyone else in this comment section saying how overwhelmingly well this projects and lasts, I sampled the fragrance last night on a tester strip (must’ve been about 2 sprays) and I woke up to my entire room smelling like a bakery 😂😂😂 so be warned! This will be my next purchase for sure

Only 2 reviews in here? Ok I’ll be the third, but dissenting view. I have loads of hatred for this scent. This stuff STINKS. I expect more from a high end niche house. Instead, this smells absolutely nothing like Tarte tatin, and everything like a cheap, synthetic fragrance oil-loaded Walmart wax melt. One of my friends always has this type of garbage scenting her house and it is vile and nauseating; I literally had the same reaction smelling this both on paper and worse, my skin. THIS IS NOT A SAFE BLIND BUY. Get some poor schmuck who owns and loves this to give you a small sample before wasting your perfume money on this scented water-that’s-giving-Glade-Airwick. It even smells like some of the gourmand trash that indie “perfume oil” companies try to sell with some poetic scent profile and lofty name. I’m game for a wonderfully executed, more nuanced/complex gourmand perfume, but this ain’t it.

Oh @ChocolateCherryGriotte also, the burnt celery smell? That is what cedar oil can often smell like to some. I am one of them. In a perfume has too much cedar or that it’s prominent, I get the yucky celery. Instant scrubber, and part of the reason I hate this perfume. Cedar isn’t listed in the notes above, but it’s definitely in there. My guess is someone you work with has a similar reaction as I do to cedar and it becomes overwhelmingly all you smell.

Brown sugar and butter! you cooked the butter with the brown sugar and now you have this greasy but yummy sauce...the apple is minimal and already cooked right? then bits of vanilla. Very simple, but it projects a lot, and the most prominent note is the brown sugar. Sadly, it evolves into maple syrup and vanilla candles. I liked it in the first minutes but the candle like drydown is a no for me. A sample is more than enough for me.

I guess I'm the only oddball that didn't mind it too much. Yes its very strong. But if it's layered with a fragrance that has a similar note its fine. It's a winter fragrance for sure (I just got a decant to test) I layered mine with Al Rehab Soft. It takes the sharp brown sugar out and mellows it out nicely.

I have this and I think it’s pretty spot on. However I wore this to work the other day and my colleagues were complaining of a burnt celery smell. I don’t know if it was this fragrance, but it’s made me paranoid about wearing it again!

Extremely sweet wore to my class and every one said “I smell maple syrup!” “I smell maple bars!” It’s a little too synthetic for me. I don’t need more than a decant. It’s not that bad just not what I’m looking for.

My own conclusion about La Tarte Tatin- smells like celery. Tell me I’m not the only one who catch this strange for perfumery note😅😅😅 I mean, I like celery in my salade, but in perfume...nahhh, may be next life?)

WARNING: I sprayed this in my house THREE DAYS AGO and my entire house STILL SMELLS of RANCID MAPLE SYRUP!!! I can’t get rid of it, it’s driving me nuts!!! How do I get rid of this smell? Please help!!!

This is a disappointment, it smells like maple syrup and burnt sugar. There is nothing creamy or sensual about it, just sugar. You can get the same vibe from Pink Sugar or Butterscotch by Demeter.

What started as an incredibly strong vanilla caramel scent turned into an overpowering curry/Maggi seasoning smell that wouldn’t wash out of my clothes, even after several washes. Very unpleasant

I like the opening, as it smells delicious and unique. Sweet with a hint of apple. It develops into tonka and caramel mix, but to me it smells like tonka and sweet almonds / almond essence.

Maple syrup. Don't love it don't hate it. Definitely not safe to blind buy. My husband said it smelled like potpourri or some kind of crafts store.
