Pink Saffron

Unfortunately, it becomes increasingly difficult to find a bottle of Pink Saffron. The spices in here add the right amount of character and distinction to the otherwise overdone saffron / rose / oud fragrance profile. I also appreciate that Pink Saffron never goes sharp, but still manages to have the woody / oudy notes at a noticeable concentration. Once dried down, the scent is softer and the rose more pronounced, giving it a more female leaning allure. Another lovely fragrance that seems to have existed just for a short time...

It starts off like Ajmal’s ‘Wisal’ with that standard Arabian metallic saffron scent, but it then takes a different turn to become super powdery. This is a clean, powdery, spicy saffron. There’s almost an Old Spice talc feel to this but done the Arabian way. Maybe if ‘Liwa’ was saffron dominant it would be along the lines of this? A must for saffron lovers.

This is quite an herbal, medicinal scent to me upon opening I know real saffron is exactly like that, if you smell the dry strands. Personally I prefer just a tiny pinch, this is a whole bag of saffron! But the drydown does settle into a warm, woodsy softer saffron. (I'm getting no discernible rose here or what I do get is smothered by that whole bag of the stuff) It has a touch of a milky quality on my skin that reminds me of one of those good saffron milk cakes you can get in L'Eto. (Definitely try the cake, it has so much flavour!) Impressive use of saffron indeed! This has bomb lasting power! Been wearing it an hour and still feels super potent.
