Island Musk

Just got it today, another blind buy, and I hit a bulls eye: -Jesss, jesss, jezzz, it's beyond my expectations, I have Jovan White Musk, but, I must admit that this Island is far better. And yesss, it is odd in a lovely way, it's as the sun and my toes-in-the-sand feeling to it, it's not tropical in any way, it's soft smell reminds me of my beautifull late golden retriever, it's something familiar with it, the smell sticks so very well with my skin, jesss, this smell could be a desert island in the west-coast of Norway, I know all about it, the musk is there, the gardenia, and the peach, than the citrus and sjasmin, and the smell is different on my arms, it's like a diamant, it sparkles in my nose, it's defently a rebuy for me, 9/10

Sadly now it seems like it is nowhere to be found. Shame on you Jovan, this was your best. Right there with the Original Wild Musk from the 80's, which is water now. This wasn't out long enough for people to know how good this was. BS Curious? No.. I have that & it is not the same, it's kind of odd actually & I don't even know where mine is, it's SO buried in my collection, b/c it's a "Meh" perfume. THIS is beautiful. I really couldn't wait to try this as I only recently discovered Jovan White Musk which is just so impressive for the price. I was hoping for a sparkly exotic Summer floral with a sun cream kind of feel. Well... I quite like this fragrance. I can't say it is as good as white musk. It has a young, carefree Summery feel. For me it isn't all that well balanced, there seems to be something odd about it that I can't put my finger on. I like the white floral aspect a lot but perhaps it is the actual musk that doesn't sit well with it. I have worn it a few times and can see me wearing it from time to time, it isn't bad, but I wouldn't repurchase. It is good value overall. But for the purpose of finding an inexpensive exotic Summer Holiday Island kind of fragrance I feel that Yves Rocher Monoï is so much better. Monoï has a strong coconutty sun cream feel and is incredibly lush and well balanced and has bags of character whereas Island Musk has a different feel, it is musky not creamy or coconutty. It is light and flowery and very young. In the end it is just a pleasant enough cheap fragrance. Low to moderate sillage and longevity. For me the best thing about it is the gorgous colour of the box.

This is the first Jovan Musk I’ve had that is too sharp for me. I find the white florals here screechy and the lemon very acidic. In all fairness to this pretty blue juice, I really struggle with this particular combination of classic white florals so if you don’t, you might like this. For me, it’s head splittingly sharp. It’s a hard to find perfume but honestly, it really is similar to Britney Spears Curious so that is a great alternative. I actually think Curious is a touch sweeter and prettier than Island Musk and the bottle is nicer too!
