Tropical Musk for Him

This smells very similar to Code Profumo, has the same sillage and longevity ..... and can be had for under $10. That's a no brainer. Yes, blind buy this and be rewarded. Naming this "Jovan Tropical Musk was a big mistake. This is a tonka-heavy scent that truly reeks of high quality. There's really nothing musky nor tropical about it. I would suggest getting several bottles before the inevitable reformulations and price increases. As it currently stands, it's easily one of the absolute best "cheapies" that you could add to your collection.

This was a pleasantly surprising blind buy that I purchased from Ebay, at just under $15. First off, ladies, don't let the "For Men" put you off, this fragrance is wholly unisex. Musk is definitely the dominant note but it's blended well with an overlay of pineapple and vanilla, which mingle quite well with each other, as I don't detect one overwhelming the other. Admittedly, I have a hard time picking out the sandalwood singularly. In a layering experiment, to enhance the pineapple, I used Demeter pineapple and I'd consider it a quite a successful experiment. I'd describe it as a bright, Caribbean fruit cocktail with extra pineapple for garnish. I'm sure that the tropical blend could be further enhanced with some kind of coconut addition. Overall, the fragrance is bright, uplifting and ethereal with excellent projection and sillage. No doubt this is perfect for spring and summer or for anytime you feel you need to close your eyes and reminisce about the tropics.

Just tried this. Starts with a quick fruity note, kinda pineapple-ish. Then becomes a tonka-heavy scent. It's nice, and after a bit it started reminding me of something else. It took me some time, then I realized what it reminded me of - Burberry Brit Rhythm. Just to make sure, I sprayed a bit of each on my wrists. Yep, almost the same - both heavy on tonka, but Brit Rhythm has a leather note that Tropical Musk doesn't have.

Very soft and subdued. I like Musk and love both White Musk and Sex Appeal. On my skin Tropical Musk doesn't have anywhere near as much projection, silage or longevity. Not sure about the "tropical" name but there's a Mediterranean holiday poolside playfulness about this. In terms of smell it reminds me after half an hour or so very much of Rasasi Tasmeem.

Jovan relaunch the musk with this tropical edition.And i don't understand why it is called tropical.Maybe they wanted to call it "candy musk";anyway,this new scent it isn't a bad flanker,i can separate the various notes and i feel that is a good new flanker,maybe not so unique as a scent.Apparently girls like this one.

I really like the smell of this. It's fruity, sweet, woody and has soft musky notes and it's very easily liked. Unfortunately longevity isn't up to par with most of the other Jovan scents, at least on my skin. 2-3 hrs max is what I get.

I am very curiuos about this fragrance...

honestly this scent makes me sick to my stomach the notes are fighting each other the open wants to be fruity and sweet then the ginger steps in and tries to take over the entire open within a few seconds and then it turns south sour with a gross old smell im not happy with this purchase ... it doesnt last long and the performance sucks i hope this helps some of dont blind by this get your nose on it first

This ia good I would say it has a little too much coumarin or Tonka bean in there though, I decanted mine into smaller bottles and added Ambrox and will probably add a tiny bit of fir balsam absolute later. The ambrox really helped though to give another layer of depth to balance the tiresome Tonka bean note

Damn sadly coming to the conclusion this actually does just suck:( it sucks a lot. So boring just that big condescending coumarin “Tonka”load that puts me to sleep with rage

And hardly any musk at all, I actually don’t smell any musk maybe a really light one like exaltolide total or something but man what a rip

Close to, but not quite a Demeter type scent. As others said, it has a pineapple upside down cake type of quality. However, the sandalwood pulls it into more of a personal fragrance direction. Very nice overall. I just did a dab sampling so I'll have to report back on the strength when I wear it in the usual way. No, it's not especially complex but otherwise for less than $10 per 3 ounces, I have to classify it as a great "super cheapo." I didn't get any lavender, it's not too sweet, nor cloying in any way (nice blend, no note clash), and I wouldn't call it a "musk scent." UPDATE FOR A TYPICAL WEARING: Three sprays to the chest this time, and it seems a bit less gourmand now, but overall still a quality "super cheapo" for those who like these notes. To me, this is clearly a big step up from most of the Adidas scents I've tried, for example (though just slightly more expensive). UPDATE FOR THE DRYDOWN: Surprisingly, it has that same kind of resinous quality one finds in scents like Midnight in Paris and Rouge Royal. The pineapple is also hanging in there, so I would raise my rating at this point. The sillage isn't bad but the projection seems to be moderate. Longevity would rate very good to excellent, but it's been around 4 hours since application. UPDATE FOR THE FAR DRYDOWN: This actually does get musky but you have to wait quite a while for it!

I was curious about this Newer Jovan that came out last year, so I blind bought a bottle online for around $10 as I hadn't seen it in stores. My Husband usually loves a vanilla/sandalwood/tonka base, and I am a lover of a pineapple top, so I figured what the heck! I'm not certain I would declare this "tropical" but it is safe for summertime wear. The pineapple top is lovely, but doesn't last very long, 3-5 minutes tops. What you are left with in the mid is a sweet tonka. It seems misleading, because at first you don't get the musk, but eventually it does arrive. All in all I like it a lot! However my Husband was not so impressed. He cant seem to ever just spray one cologne at a time, I'm sure he'll have fun using it to layer. I've worn it the past two days so I could give it a review, and have sprayed it on my younger boys. I think its sweet enough for a woman to wear. I have yet to see the Womans Tropical version even online! So I might utilize this for myself.

A nice fruity, musky, woody fragrance that was well blended. Nothing really groundbreaking about this aroma. This is not a crowd pleaser, an attention grabber, or a panty dropper. You can basically smell nice & not offensive without being noticed. This is overall a boring scent. The longevity is okay & could be better. I normally layer this particular fragrance with pineapple or sandlewood essential oil to get the longevity that I truly desire without having to keep overspraying myself to get that scent trail I like leaving behind. I would only wear this for. 1)Spring/Summer 2)Job/Office. 3)Gym. 4)Running errands. 5)Hanging with the fellas. 6)Outdoor activities. 7)Daytime. I wouldn't necessarily reach for this. 1)Dressing down or sophisticated. 2)Trying to get noticed. 3)1st impressions. 4)Clubbing/Partying atmosphere. 5)Nights/Evenings. 6)Fall/Winter 7)Hanging with women.

Believe it or not but I can sense in this some kind of CK Shock mixed with Axe Africa haha. The scent is nice itself, however looking at the notes , i was expecting something different, something more... tropical. In my opinion, if you want something that smells more exotic, which is suitable for hot weather you should check Jovan White Musk for men. It's more unique and suited better for higher temperatures, while Tropical Musk for me is better suited for hmm, maybe not winter, but colder spring / warmer autumn. Keep in mind, that comparison to Shock is only mine subjective assotiation , and before buying, you should really make sure about, cause i don't want you to buy it like thinking "hey I'm getting Shock clone". Every nose is different...

I may not love this but I do like it. It reminds me of Jovan White Musk For Men with the fruity notes replaced by vanilla and tonka. I detect only a bit of pineapple in my batch so, like some others, I think this fragrance is misnamed. The plasticky “Jovanade” is present here, but the projection and sillage usually associated with the Jovan Musk brand are not. Jovan colognes usually perform like EDTs. Tropical Musk truly performs like an average EDC. Prices are reasonable enough that a blind buy wouldn’t be the worst thing, especially if you are a fan of White Musk and looking for a similar but even lighter scent. Worth a try by either gender. This should have been called "5 O'Clock Musk" as it reminds me of the drydown of a men's sweet/gourmand type of fragrance. It's musky for sure, but the name "Tropical" really isn't appropriate. The pineapple is some sort of generic "tropical island" flavored drink or food made everywhere except the island. There's nothing that really stands out about this fragrance other than the sweetness and the musk. I'll keep testing as usual. I layered it with Paris Hilton for Men (blue bottle) and it lasted way longer than PH Men but had no projection.

I just got this at Burlington coat factory for 6.99 And what a bargain the opening is pineapple and light woods Then the vanilla and musk shows up for the dry down Is really nice Last around 6 hours project for around 1 Great for summer this is not your typical citrus fragrance can be use all year Don't be fooled by the price Recommend blind buy

Not a bad fragrance at all but this smells like a lot of other inexpensive tonka fragrances from houses like Armaf, Ted Lapidus, etc. Lasts a long time, projection on the lighter side. This is not a standout Jovan scent for me. As far as sweet scents I think Secret Amber is better and more interesting.

This sounds like it'd be an interesting fragrance for a younger male. If I can find it, I'll probably purchase it for my son.

Just blind bought this. Lovely, not as good as Musk but still good nonetheless.
