Ambre Premier

I decided to seek-out more AFFORDABLE alternatives to Profumum Roma "Ambra Aurea," which I owned and love. But Profumum Roma fragrances only come in 100ml bottles. And the liquid in my last expensive Ambra Aurea bottle turned thick, dark, very oily and super-resinous towards its end. For many reasons, I cannot blow-through a 100ml bottle of Ambra Aurea... But I CAN blow through a 100ml bottle of "Ambre Premiere." To me, Ambre Premier is beautiful, it truly is. Ambre Premier is a very straightforward, rather linear, amber perfume with vanilla. The fragrance's opening is a lovely burst of beautiful amber with LOTS of vanilla. There's a wee-bit of citrus in the opening that dissipates. The drydown is a heavenly blend of amber, vanilla, DEFINITELY rose and patchouli. Becomes noticeably spicier and slightly powdery in the drydown, as well. Ambre Premiere is one of the most feminine-leaning, comforting, amber perfumes I've owned, or experienced. As a side note, I sampled Ambre Premiere about 13 years back, shortly after its launch. I liked it then; I adore it now! LOVE all the way! It's a keeper.

In my opinion it is perfectly unisex perfume. Those into amber type perfumes, regardless of gender, would love it. On my skin I don't have any citruses at all at any point and it stay linear and barely changes after first 2 minutes. I would say it is 50% amber, 25% patchouli, and other 25% equally shared between rose, spices and vanilla. The only difference between opening and drydown is vanilla becomes a bit more evident as it progresses and spices and rose disappear almost completely in last 4 hours. On my skin it lasts 8-12 hours in Fall and Spring, but only 5-6 hours in Winter (since I don't wear any lotions or oils). Sillage and projection drops in Winter too unless I use twice more than in Fall-Spring. It lacks originality, but is safe blind buy. Don't see how anyone would hate it or be irritated by it. In worst case scenario it would be indifference. Very suitable for office use in colder months. Scent 9/10 Originality 5/10 Longevity 8/10 Projection 7/10 Sillage 6/10

Ambre Premier by Jovoy Paris what to say !? Pure magic for my sense of smell. Divine blend of excellent caliber. In the opening notes a masterful minuet between light citrus chords and warm épices notes, in the dry a symphonic heart of rose emerges which is sealed with a dry down that magically catapults into the east; the empire of the senses ... an erotic elixir, very luxurious, where the sweetness of vanilla is expertly blended with the mysticism of amber, a sublime rarity, which time makes powdery and impalpable. Sensory experience that I invite to try for all amber lovers. Pure orgasm. Surprising sillage, amber and warm spicy. The duration for me is infinite. Absolute love.

From the notes and my nose, this seems like another boring amber perfume that is a weak skin scent after half hour, and it’s been done by tons of other perfumers. I have decants all over the place of these same kinds of weak boring amber perfumes. Dont get me wrong it’s still a very nice scent, just that it’s been done before. I like Jovoy, some of my most beloved perfumes come from Jovoy, but they also have put out a bunch of duds, imho . This one being one of them. I’m disappointed, I expected so much more from Jovoy. I love amber scents and am always looking for a best mode Amber, patchouli, rose, musk perfume. Til then I will have to use up the decants I have.

Elegant amber with herbaceous (slightly medicinal) opening and beautiful soft vanilla in the base. It’s very well balanced. Of course, it’s strong, but it’s not in-your-face type of fragrance. It has a round patchouli that is hard to find. Lovely! Ps: for me it’s better than Ambre 114, because geranium in there is giving off a barbershop type of vibe. Follow me on IG: scent.guide

A beautiful, full bodied amber. I also own the Elie Saab Amber (voted most similar) and that amber is sweeter, with more vanilla and fades fairly quickly. I think there’s a higher concentration of oils in the Jovoy. I do love this beautiful aroma- spicy and smooth. There’s just a touch of vanilla. Bottle is going on my buy list. I wish Jovoy made 30ml size!

Warm spicy amber with floral aspects. Vanilla comes around in dry down and stays through... A little bit citruss at the begining and fades away quickly. The whole thing is cozy yet spicy and chic.on the righte skin could be so femminen and has the potency to be edgy Great lasting and beautibful presentation. Recommended to patchouli and amber lovers.

Ambre Premier is a rich, golden embrace of warm amber wrapped in spiced candied orange, A hint of rose softens the edges before settling into a sensual base of musk, vanilla, and patchouli. Sweet yet sophisticated, it lingers like a sun-drenched memory, both comforting and bold. I love it as a bedtime scent on a cold night, it is warming and cozy.

This is great. I know they are not similar, but this is somewhat what i wished/expected Grand Soir to smell like. Candied citrus, vanilla, and patchouli make beautiful combo. I also get the bubblegum others were talking about, but only if i am really looking for it. Unfortunately, performance is just okay for me.

One of the best amber fragances that i have been tried recently. To sweet and depth. More fresh and less incensey than Ambre Fetiche, for example (I love Ambre Fetiche too). Longevity is only decent (no more than 5-6 hours) and sillage is moderate-low. scent: 7/10 longevity: 7/10 sillage: 6/10

Unlike other amber-oriented scents I've tried, Ambre Premier is quite delicate. The amber here is like a powdery bubblegum. A nutty, starchy vanilla and clean patchouli complement this fruity amber. Animalic labdanum, pierces through the layers to give this fragrance a more formal edge.

Just sprayed my free sample on my girlfriend and sent her off to a party. She has a cold and can't smell too well, but she likes amber and she likes this. I fairly well doused her in it. So I'll see how she fares...

Gorgeous amber and natural vanilla ala Pierre Guillaume Felanilla and Ex Idolo Love and Crime. Great performance as expected from Jovoy.

A really quality vanilla, spicy amber! It's not very complecated but if you like amber you will like this.

A "grown up" amber perfume. Great drydown. I like it even more than I did initially.

Citrusy and Rosy Amber Dirtied w/ Patchouli... When I sprayed Jovoy AP for the first time I though I had sprayed myself with Jovoy Psychedelique by mistake. I had to look at the bottles to make sure I had not switched them. But I didn't. Then of course, after some minutes I started to notice the differences. The reason for thinking I had made a mistake is that AP, like Psychedelique , is an amber and patchouli fragrance. Also, they both have rose, vanilla, and musk as ingredients. However, the big difference between the 2 is that naturally amber is the main star of AP while patchouli is the main star of Psychedelique, which is why AP feels sweeter. AP also differentiates itself in the opening by having citrus notes, more notably orange, and having a little pinch of spice accompanying it. Just initially, at the opening, the rose is a little more noticeable in AP than in Psychedelique. During the dry down I notice little difference between AP and Psychedelique ...the both exude this ambery-patchoulic-vanillic-musky drydown...one in which AP's version perhaps is a tad sweeter and softer. So, if you want to feel more patchouli (smokier, woodier, denser), go w/ Psychedelique; if you want to feel more amber (sweeter, lighter, citrusy), go w/ AP. Not matter what, you will get a degree of that delicious amber-patchouli vibe. AP is totally unisex. I disagree w/ Fragrantica's classifying AP as a woman's fragrance. AP is very elegant, attractive, pleasantly and moderately sweet without being cloying...very wearable and easy going...I like this amber fragrance...

I love surprises and this was the biggest for me in my October 2017 Fumerie sample pack, which had an exceptional selection and I recommend highly. At first sniff, woah, alcohol! Then, a lovely orange citrus takes over. It slowly shifts into a salty-sweet profile with just a bit of coastal air freshness. The orange mostly fades as a warmth moves in and begins to remind me of sea salt caramels. For a few hours after the opening, it settles into a slightly sweet, deep, and creamy amber with a lovely, powdery vanilla cloud. A subtle rose takes the final bow. I love ambergris based fragrances, but had completely overlooked Jovoy. Although I am enjoying the sample, I have far too many amber fragrances to run and buy a full bottle. It is Autumn now, but I will definitely be trying this in warmer weather as an alternative to some of my spicier ambers.

Ambre Premier is a nice, easygoing amber with a sweet twist. It kicks off with that classic warm, spicy amber vibe, but pretty quickly a rose note joins in. It doesn’t smell like a fresh, natural rose—more like rosewater, the kind you’d find in Turkish delight. That candy-like combo sticks around for a bit before fading. You’re left with a simple, smooth amber base. Nothing overly complex or resin-heavy—this is one of the lighter, airier ambers, not a thick, dark one. It’s cozy and warm without feeling too heavy or dramatic. Performance is solid: it has moderate projection that stays close enough to be office-safe, but it lasts well on skin. Overall, it’s a pleasant, no-fuss amber with a sweet twist—great if you’re into Turkish delight vibes or want a soft, wearable amber for daily use.

Vanillic amber (french labdanum dominant), non-describe soft warm spicy (cinnamon,soft clovec tint hint of caraway) powdery vanilla almost giving chocolate, citrus jelly. Romantic, but it can also remind you of citrus urinal ball. This is successful blind buy. I love the way this smell on my skin. Citrus support can be slight artificial. // September 12, 2024 I stay with Amber Premier for a day and it turn out present than I except. The opening is citrus and sweet amber before transit into more powdery side and rose. Very classy, in both polite and feminine at the same time. :) I like this one.

Stale rose and a nice orange note over vanillac amber with faint nuance. I’d prefer more pungency over the subtlety, but this is strong enough. Not loud enough. Damn near a 🙂 and I’m tempted to leave a good rating, but this just doesn’t do much for me. Has mild vape vibes💨 Takes forever but this baby really shines during the dry-down, where it becomes harmonic and resonant, and a denser, more refined version of it’s self.I had to leave a 🙂 after all.

Translucent orange chocolate bar in the jelly form is the picture that comes to mind. I imagine this could be one of Christmas snacks in Harry Potter's world. Airy, almost translucent vanillic, chocolaty patch blended with dry orange skin + a sprinkle of spices, maybe some soft pepper or cloves. However, it doesn't stray from the ambery category.

First impression (from a dabbing sample): take L'Eau D'Ambre Extrême by L'Artisan Parfumeur (or any other similar Amber fragrance) and add a little bit of Lalique Le Parfum by Lalique. There’s a hint of something sweet and medicinal in it, and it keeps making me thinking of Lalique Le Parfum...

really good ambery sweet fragrance ,today i'm testing a sample on my skin and i have to say its quite pleasant but i actually didnt go mad for the sillage and longevity not excellent imho i think its an amber very close to the skin of the wearer but definitely not powerhouse 6/10

Another beautiful uncomplicated amber fragrance, with citrusy and vanilla notes. Can I compare it with Boucheron's Trouble? Hmmm, maybe... I've got no roses and only hints od patchouli and even spicy cocoa- similar as in Psychadelic.

Ambre Premier smells delicious. Ambery, vanillic, sweet. I actually don't mind the cleaned-up patchouli in the base. fbw when I get back into ember fragrances. This one is up there with the best ambers I've ever smelled. Stunning! -

The scent profile is very reminiscent of Ambra Aurea by Profumum Roma, but it lacks the insane longevity PR is so famous for. This one goes into skin scent very fast

There is a lovely chocolate rose in the middle but the rose doesn't last very long. Overall, it smells like orange candy and amber.

Ouch! This really hurts. This disappeared from my wrist in about few minutes! Will be back to review this later.

On my skin, this went straight to the amber-vanilla-patchouli combo (with an unexpected emphasis on the patchouli -- it's a clean and slightly medicinal patchouli, to be sure, but patchouli, nonetheless). I got a little bit of spice, but nothing excessive. I was not able to detect any rose, nor did I pick up much in the way of citrus (save for a few brief moments immediately after application). I can definitely see *why* people make comparisons to L'air du Desert Marocain, Musc Ravageur, and Ambre Sultan (all of which are perfumes I enjoy!), as this fragrance certainly inhabits that general sphere of existence, but Ambre Premier is... well... quieter, somehow... and perhaps a *tiny* bit less unisex. It came across (on my skin) as more masculine than I expected. (Not a bad thing, necessarily, but something to be aware of, depending upon your preferences. I didn't mind it -- in fact, I found it to be a quirky and enjoyable surprise, but I was simply having fun while trying a random perfume today, and I wasn't too concerned about how my experiment might turn out -- if that's not what you're looking for, though, you might want to sample this one before buying a full bottle to see how it interacts with you.) It is quite smooth, and it doesn't seem to change much once it settles down (which is *not* necessarily the case with some of the aforementioned "amber" fragrances -- Ambre Sultan, with its unusual spices and patchouli and vanilla, is a shapeshifter on me... and LDDM, I'm discovering, actually performs better in heat than it does in the middle of winter... so, maybe I need to try my sample of Ambre Premier again under different conditions, and update my review when I have done so). Ambre Premier became a skin scent after about an hour or so. (Again, not a negative quality, depending upon what you're looking for, but it was a shock to me, since Jovoy's Fire At Will made its presence known for at least 12 hours -- at times, longer -- when I wore it. So, I suppose FAW may have primed my expectations in the longevity department.) It's rich, warm, and inviting... but I recommend sampling prior to purchase, as it might not be quite what you expect!

Ssssstrange! ... For a moment I have hints of candied citrus fruits and a lactonic note that reminded me of an orange antibiotic syrup for children ... At the opening I have spicy whiffs, a very sweet medicinal amber from the 80s, hot and spicy . I get a milk and coriander accord that takes me back to Jaques Fath's Tempête d'autumne. Similar atmosphere, without the notes of leather and lavender. I also have heavy doses of vanilla and clear patchouli, chocolatey Chanel and maybe pieces of sweet cinnamon. After a while it remains essentially soapy amber and earthy patch in a soft cloud, vanilla with a drizzle of hot spice. And in this he reminded me of Jacques Fath's Bel Ambre. Or rather, it would be the other way around as Ambre Premiere came years ago! However... stratifiable! However they seem made from the same nose! Rather heard elsewhere in the swarm of oriental-style ambers of the past forty years. And in this it reminded me of Obsession for men. ... I could go on for hours and name them all, But: Not bad, comfortable enough in the cold months, but rather sweet and a little ... TIRED

This is something a polished man in a suit could wear. It’s clean and elegant. Spicy, sexy and sophisticated. This man means business. And this is his signature. I want to say this is truly unisex but imho it’s leaning male. Yet a certain type of woman could also wear this. She’s a mature woman who has grown apart from the soapy florals and sweet gourmands. She runs a succesful business inducing respect. First I get citrus and spices. Then it dries down to a well blended amber with hints of patchouli and spices. It’s cleaner, fresher and less cloying than any other amber fragrance I’ve tried. No cheap barbershop vibes. The scent is an elegant choice for date nights and evenings. If you have the kind of job that you’d wear a suit or something similar, then this could also work as an office wear. Like any amber perfume it’s strong and long lasting, hence easily oversprayed if used for daytime.

Initial wearing, via Scentbox - tried it without refreshing my memory about the notes, and first impression was incense and fruit. I do see a couple of other people here mention the incense, and that stayed with me throughout, which I personally like quite a lot. I don't know if it's the patchouli that gives that nuance? The fruit I surmise is a sweet orange. I got the rose and vanilla in the mix with amber, and I can see the idea of chocolate along the way. Applied lightly and it was very long lasting. I like it. ----------------------------------- Tried it again and this time after it dried down I got too much of a powdered vanilla & chocolate vibe, like a packet of cocoa mix. A bit on the fence.

Opens old school amber. Powdery, spiced, projecting. The opening is deceiving as it changes fast to rose petals dusted with spices and sweetened with a slight vanilla. It’s evolving into a sophisticated bubble gum. I almost couldn’t believe my nose until I read Jovoy’s founder billed this as a cotton candy opening. Wow this is strong! I only put a single spray on my wrist and hours later into the dry down it is projecting. The bubble gum scent dissipated, leaving the same powdery spiced rose but this time with the strength of patchouli behind it. While I appreciate the quality and the interesting bubblegum ride this took, I honestly cannot say I enjoy this scent.

Warm cozy spicy amber. Amber mainly in front spices lingering in the back, right dose of spices for my taste, nothing too loud. The perfume has a lovely powdery feel to it, perhaps coming from the vanilla. I like it but not amazed by it! Suitable for colder nights, sitting at home needing a perfume to change the mood. I wouldn't choose this for a date or a night out or a formal occasion.

A really boring amber, lacking any spirit or gumption. A slightly more exciting upgrade (but similar as it has the same warm vanilla-biscuit base) would be Carner Barcelona’s ‘Ambar Del Sur’. This is not even trying before it’s given up. Maybe I’m feeling that this is so lacklustre as I’m used to Jovoy’s ‘Psychadelique’ which screams patchouli at you.

Wow this is very similar to Ambre114! With that said.... this is nice. Spicy vanilla with touches of citrus that dries to a prominent patchouli. According to fragrantica this is marketed towards women but I find this completely unisex.

Honestly not my favorite here.super spicy with a hint of rose. I got a sample of this and wanted more amber forward. Definitely not my cup of tea.

The scent of those little orange baby aspirins with some amber.

At first I thought it was a combination of gourmand scent and cologne or fougere - the first spray immediately recognizable dill, cream, mushrooms - soup. Pleasant interesting scent, then developed spiciness and amber in the heart. I admit I dont like rose much, only if it is muted in the background and fits smoothly into the composition otherwise it seems granny style to me. Here it is not that pronounced, but unnecessarily strong for my taste. No citruses and vanilla plus amber long soft ending from second hour in combination of very weak skin only sillage after first hour. Interesting but not my cup of coffee.

A very simple Amber fragrance for those who may be seeking the ultimate amber scent. Ambre Premier literally open with Rose, has Patchouli in the heart and then dries down to Amber and Vanilla. All in all, you can 'taste' each note one after another. The patchouli is responsible for taming the Amber down. Vanilla gives sweetness and the Rose provides some aroma. A bit too much for me, but I can see this appealing to others a lot. Amber is a popular note that I have never liked particularly much, but it gets a lot of love by others. Totally recommend this if you are on the hunt for an amber-dominant scent.

The strangest thing happens with this fragrance. If I spray it on my wrists, I don't get any rose at all, but if I spray it on the inside of my elbow, I get a blast of it for the first ten minutes. No idea why. The blast I do get is a very potent rose, wet and fiery. But after 10 minutes, it's gone completely. Then I get the most gorgeous, down and dirty patchouli. This isn't hippies in a San Fransisco park, it's an orgy in the mud at woodstock. It's just so deliciously bad. But then that disappears after 10 minutes too. What I'm left with for the rest of the time is a nutty amber with hints of vanilla and something I can't identify lurking in the background. It's something synthetic, almost industrial smelling. This reminds me of Ambre Nue by Atellier Cologne, but that one is much nicer than this. This one started to make me feel a bit queasy after a while - and it lasted for ages. A challenging one, for sure.

Ambre Premier is an amber fragrance that does not travel to the beat of the drum of other perfumes sharing the same sweetly harmonious note. While most amber scents are laden with heavy tonka, earthy vetiver, herbaceous notes and gummy benzoin, I celebrate everything Ambre Premier IS NOT! Soft spices, a gentle rose, fleeting citrus, the perfect patchouli, and thankfully, a light dose of vanilla that caresses the resinous amber note. Complaints of "boring and weak," appear on the reviews but be reminded that Ambre Premier is, after all, a Jovoy, whereby it exudes that typical French elegance along with that well honed mastery of a magical, yet discreet evolution of all its notes. Amber Premier does not shout " notice me!' but gently whispers, "here I am."

While I can tell this is a spicy patchouli-leading, vanillic amber, the vanilla note projects so sweet and so strongly on my skin that I get huge whiffs of sweetened milk chocolate and cola notes as it develops. In fact, the more it dries down the more I get spiced milk chocolate-covered orange peels. I'm not too bothered by the fact that it's not a dominant amber scent and I like that it leans more gourmand for me. If you like Angel Muse (patchouli hazelnut), I would recommend sampling this as a possible companion piece and see how it develops with your skin chemistry. For me, it's a delicious alternative to wear when I need a break from Angel Muse.
