Ha Long Bay

Wearing this is honestly such a delight. It is incredibly long-lasting and even lasted AFTER showering. It’s also the first perfume in a while that I got compliments on from someone. The dry down leans spicy with the pepper, cardamom, and patchouli lingering beautifully. The mango is very present but does disappear on me after a while. It’s also so interesting how someone told me they could really smell the mango but it was nice and spiced while someone else described it as fresh. Whatever the case, there is something in this complex scent for a lot of folks and I will absolutely be buying a travel size of this one.

This one shifts my mood. It is fresh and realistic mango - a bit green, a bit unripe, followed by woody leather. It’s less tropical and more fruity woody as it progresses. It’s unisex in the way that God of Fire is. Longevity is good and it projects pretty well. I’d love to smell it in actual tropical heat - I imagine this is where it belongs (vs the Scottish 13c sunshine I’m currently in). I smelled this in their London store and immediately had to have it. It might not be for everyone, but I love that I own it. It makes me happier when I wear it.

i tried it at their store in paris, its a spectacular mango scent, very beautifully blended with the accompanied notes, the mango does have a certain synthetic feel to it, but still proves to be a wonderful fragrance. jovoy fragrances are certainly not "cheap" but they most certainly should be treated with the same seriousness as other niche brands, because even though they mainly sell other fragrances, their own scents are of the highest quality and actually do have a high level of creativity.

Spectacular. Photo realistic mango on musks with a patchouli leathery dry down. It’s clearly mango not some nectar sweetness the musky bridge between the mango top and leather patchouli base is extremely well judged. The note pyramid is a little misleading as I feel some of the base in the heart and vice versa. Tropical elegance. It’s difficult for fruits to be elegant. Excellent work by Jovoy at what is still an excellent value proposition relative to other brands.

Jovoy Ha Long Bay really pulled the slow burn on me. First it was just a cute little mango moment, all juicy and tropical, and now it’s giving smooth elegant amberish-woody calm-like addiction on skin. I went from “hmm, interesting” to craving a full bottle like I need it to survive. It’s beautiful, it’s addictive, and it totally grew on me in the sneakiest way.

Beautiful juicy scent with distinct mango note (it’s a quite realistic and smells like ripe mango skin). The base is a bit more woody and dark but still quite smooth and balanced. I think it’s a trendy fruity fragrance with trendy oud note as well.. however, it’s made much better than the rest of them. In love!! My ig: scent.guide

Beautifull juicy mango fragrance with spices and leather. My first jovoy fragrance in my collection. Its not too spicy or oudy, leathery. Love it.

This seems to be jovoys take on the tropical/musky fruit forward trends like God of Fire etc. I can see a lot of people being into two camps about this because it’s a lot more modern than jovoys typical vintage leaning style. This is really well done though and I actually really like it which surprised me. The opening is ripe mango but it dries down into the green bitter aspects as well. It’s never too sweet and its really well balanced with green notes and the crypriol—amberwoods. I can definitely see this being amazing in the summer. Very classy tropical scent.

I see this as a fruity-chypre fragrance. Nice well blended composition without overwhelming notes. It opens up with heavy mango flavoured chewing gum. However, after 10 minutes mango will disappear and somehow it turns into double peppermint flavoured chewing gum. I don't really understand how. But for me it's okay. Will purchase at least 15ml bottle

Maybe fruity and tropical scents just aren’t for me. I thought it was peach or nectarine but wasn’t really 100% on that, was debating raspberries even but something was off. Now looking at the notes ok I see. Fruity and leathery this is. Drydown of the mango is more green than opening, so juicy and sweet. Confusing. I don’t know is it nauseating or refreshing, sticky and way too sweet or greenish and spicy. That means no to buying but I’m glad I tried it 🪲

Thanks Jovoy for the free sample sent, but that's a pass for me, All i get is a very strong unpleasant tropical scent, it litteraly smells like the "Malabar Multifruit" in France. If u like being a walking tropical bubblegum then it's probably a suitable one for u. It's not for my taste but the longevity is not bad and projection too.

It’s not particularly impressive. Fragrances in this style really need some freshness added to them; otherwise, they end up feeling overly heavy and reminiscent of a car air freshener. This one isn’t quite that simple, but it does come across as somewhat synthetic and gives me vibes similar to Gissah Ambassador. For me, it’s too sweet and rather tiring to wear.

This is a poor execution of the concept. Ha Long Bay's DNA should be salty, woody, and mossy, reflecting its maritime environment. The mango-centric approach is geographically inaccurate, as that note belongs more to the spirit of Southern Vietnam.

As a fan of Jovoy, I'm sad to say that I did not like this fragrance. The best part about it is the opening - the fresh mango note is gorgeous. But it is quickly consumed by the wood notes, which dominate for hours and hours.

There's a bar somewhere by Ha Long Bay that makes the world's best Midori sours. You will know this to be true, as you taste that drink yourself, with your nose, in the very first minute of sampling Ha Long Bay by Jovoy. After that minute, the fragrance will noticeably change, becoming more mangoed, peppery, woody, ...and yes, even a little leathery and smoked. This change is still quite nice. Peppered mangoes are also delicious, ...perhaps served with catfish steam-roasted in banana leaves over an open fire? Still, after a little while, you will want to re-spray, just for another shot of that intoxicating cocktail opening.

Oh lala, what an opinionated mango this is! This opened sharp on my skin but quickly warmed up to a rich, peppery, mango leather. As a female wearer I do find it a bit heavy for summer, much rather prefer it on a male wearer during that season. Great projection and longevity, which adds value in my books. Overall a great JOVOY release. Ps: On a blind test I would have sworn that there is rum in it, perhaps getting that sense from the patchouli note. Reminds me slightly of Malin + Goetz's Dark Rum.

Really pleasant smell. Instantly reminded of Juicy Fruit gum. As it’s dried down a little bit of leather and woodiness come out but it still retains some fruity scent. This isn’t that spicy, heavier on the woods as it dries down, the heat brings out more of the fruitiness. The mango to me is like a chewing gum flavoured smell as opposed to a realistic one but it’s done so well. I think it smells great.

I dont know why they always come up with unsuccessful ideas of the smell from Ha Long Bay...it smells like salty water and hint of Vietnamese food from ships floating around...

This is the best Jovoy ever created. It smells so good, juicy and tropical, fresh mango. I do not get any leather. Great performance.
