L’Arbre de la Connaissance

My initial impression of this fragrance was that I did indeed LOVE it but that it was far too "soft" (silage & longevity) for my liking...fast forward two months to this weekend and I decided to retry the small ampule of L'Arbre de la Connaissance, given to me by a local perfume shop...I was thrilled to realize that my initial impression was, indeed partly correct but also partly wrong: YES, I still do LOVE this fragrance -- it is so very sexy and heavenly beautiful; but NO, it isn't too "soft" in any way shape or form -- the longevity and sillage are phenomenally impressive...sillage is perfect: nicely assertive but doesn't bowl one over, so to speak...longevity is marathon-like: 12+ hours if I give myself a good two sprays to each arm (about 15 minutes apart) and the neck area...Will definitely be adding this fragrance to my collection...I'll b-line it to the local perfume shop tomorrow morning to snag myself a 100 ml of this beauty...have a feeling this fragrance will be one of my most beloved fragrances for years to come...when I smell L'Arbre de la Connaissance I feel completely at peace and beauty appears everywhere...I love the green notes that are always there to one degree or another and an almost soft beautiful "nutty-like" aroma the weaves itself in & out of the composition...the sandalwood in the dry down is celestial...and the fig never becomes to sweet or jam-like...Many times over, I find myself irresistibly drawn to smelling my forearms where it has been applied...A big, thank you to Jovoy Paris for producing this absolute heaven-scent gem!

مدتی بود دنبال خرید این ادوکلن بودم.اکثر کارهای جووی رو دارم.تو فروشگاه خانه عطر آرمیتاژ تستر 2014 اون رو پیدا کردم و خریدم.رنگ مایع قرمز رنگ است .برخلاف نسخه های بعدی که کمرنگ و کمرنگ تر شده اند.پخش بالا و ماندگاری بوی بالا با بیس انجیر دارد.خب بالانس رایحه ها با توجه به انتظاری که از جووی می رود در سطح عالی است.یک نکته مهم برای خریداران این ادوکلن.رایحه انجیر در این عطر با رایحه های انجیر در برخی دیگه از ادوکلن های به ظاهر نیش مانند ماسک امپریال از اتیلیه کولون زمین تا اسمان متفاوت است. بدین معنی که در ماسک امپریال که من ان را هم دارم رایحه متمرکز بر همه پسندی و خوش بویی بالا اما با ماندگاری و پخش کم شده است در جووی نسخه 2014 رایحه اصلا به خوش بویی ماسک نیست اما ماندگاری، کلاس کار و سنگینی بو چیزی است که شما با استشمام ان کاملا متوجه با کلاس بودن این رایحه می شوید.باید واقعا دوستدار نت سنگین و ترکیب با نت چوبی انجیر باشید که کنایسنس رو را خرید کنید.

What if I told you some creations are an embodiment of nature itself! This perfume is exactly that. A fig plant in all its glory! Tart, spicy, green, leafy & sweet. It's like you are experiencing the whole plant grow in a timelapse feature! A documentary, but as a perfume. It demands to be embraced and appreciated in every respect. Though it might seem that it bears semblance to the ideal fig plant but it sure has its own way of telling you that it is different. the weather plays a part in this one and thus here in india it seems like this is just the right juice for me! just too good! 10/10 for me

Every 4 years I'm going for the conference to the small city Kolymbari on Crete. During the summer this is really hot and sunny place where many fig trees are sending they pheromones around :-) L’Arbre de la Connaissance smells exactly like these pheromones giving unbelievable sexy aura around. I'm not even trying to analyze elements of this composition, for me the final effect is such wonderful that I feel like in the sumer vacation heaven. The top fig composition - best ever and forever.

Dry, herbaceous, leafy, dusty, earthy, fruity - perfect for the warm breezy days of late summer and early autumn. Reminds me of the natural scent in the air in rural California and the original Napa Valley Cielo fragrance, but deeper and richer. L'Arbre de la Connaissance is my favorite fig scent. Very high class fig, rivaling Diptyque Philosykos.

Yet Another Jovoy Perfume I Adore !! I Totally Agree With Goya .. This A Beautiful Green Fresh Fig Scent, My Fav Fig Scent I Have Found So Far But Yes There Is A But ... The Longevity On The Skin Is Poor For A "Niche /High End /Expensive" Fragrance ... Maybe 3 hrs On My Skin At Most, Does Last On Fabric Longer Though.

I love this! This is all fig tree and fig leaf. No actual fig fruit note. This is harsh but has a sweetness like fig milk. I get a vegtable quality like celery and cucumber. I don't get any citrus at all. I can understand someone not liking this. I feel like this is a niche fragrance that a fringe group would enjoy.

Fig fig fig. Lovely fresh green fig. A slightly citrus opening. Fresh leaves and some twigs. Not too sweet. A real joy.

One of the best fig scent in the market. Its green and creamy at the same time. Amazing performance and projection.

I love all kinds of fig scents, and this is no exception (how could it be, with a name as lovely as this?). I have a generous sample and that's a good thing, because I needed a few tries to "get" it. At first it seemed a little overwhelming to me - it's quite heavy, focused on the fruit more than any other part of the fig tree, but without smelling fruity or even very sweet. Unexpected! And it's been so hot these last couple of weeks that it's been easy to overdose on any scent that's not especially light and airy - which this definitely isn't. Luckily, the weather has cooled down now, and I've learned to spray a little more lightly with this one as well, and now it's really come into its own. It smells very natural in quite a heady way, super woody/milky - like a real fig tree, but enhanced, exaggerated. Very nice once I was used to it, and it easily lasts all day as well. Fig scent obsessed as I am, there are a lot of fragrances I prefer to this one, but I'd still like to have this one in my (decant) collection; it'll make a good figgy alternative for cooler summer days or early fall.

There isn't much to say about the scent, as it's a realistic (figurative) fig fragrance. Similar to Philosykos, no other floral or spicy notes are included in this fragrance to highlight the fig. I enjoy fragrances with fig accords, and this one is no different. In this fragrance, the fig fruit is more dominant than other notes. And the fig is very riped, juicy and sweet, even slightly medicinal. I have recently tried several fragrances from Jovoy. I believe that this house has a unique approach in creating fragrances by keeping the central notes bold and dramatic, such as the fig in this fragrance, without adding unnecessary or extra notes. Most of their fragrances have very few notes, for example, this one only has 2 top notes and 1 middle note. However, the scent is not minimal; it's bold, dramatic, and powerful. I really appreciate their approach to perfumery. This one in particular is an excellent fig fragrance. But my all time favorite fig fragrance is still the original Philosykos EDT. 8/10

True to its pyramid. Opens with mouthwatering tart citrus top over the ripening green figs hanging on the fig tree. The figgy sweetness is just right. It goes through a rich fig pulp feel phase with violet hues, until it becomes woodsy and powdery from the sandal wood and patchouli. Nice quality scent. Very wearable. Not as demure and all encompassing to the dot as the absolute literal fig spectrum covered by the watercolors of Philosykos. The quality is there, but Jovoy takes you on a different journey. If I must summarize it: Juicy “Amalfi” opening, going in Monegal New Paradise dark dense woodsy direction, until it starts showing a powdery side of some feminine features in the drydown phase a la “ELDO She’s an Anomaly” and after not too long extinguishes in green, citric, waxy iridescence. No sharp phases, it’s all blended transitioning.

One of my favorite fig-based perfumes, The Tree of Enlightenment is a beautiful Oriental fig that is tranquil, green, soothing and meditative. The perfume begins with a whiff of fig leaves and hesperidium, and moves into a central base of the fig fruit. Finally, it settles into a beautiful Oriental base of sandalwood, patchouli and fig bark. This is absolutely radiant on my skin and I am overwhelmed with positive and spiritual energy. I usually wear it before I head to teach class as it keeps me inspired and focused. Not for everyone like most fig-based perfumes but one of the most beautifully blended and balanced in this category. Enjoy!

The opening is quite difficult, all the notes are in overdrive. This is a fig dominant scent, with all the parts of the tree—leafs and stems—up front. But it’s too synthetic and sweetly strong for my taste. Exhausting is the only word I can conjure. Dry down is more natural, and thankfully softer. I do like this stage, but I’m not sure the opening is worth it. I adore figs in perfume, one of my favorite fruity notes. But this Jovoy is a firm pass.

I love the sweet fruit part here. I get Apricots and Peaches more than Figs. I also think of sweet white florals: Gardenia and Osmanthus. But I absolutely hate the Green part that smells more like Mugwort and Plastic to me and perpetuates till the drydown where it all transform into a smell of a body butter (similar to the Mango Body Butter by the Body Shop, minus Mango. Green-green fig with a hint of lemon and spice! Very energizing and sophisticated at the same time. Sharp grassy-lemon opening calms down in 5 minutes revealing interesting combination of fig and sandalwood. It is not heavy despite of sandalwood in the mix. I would even call it new kind of ozonic scent because it is so fresh. Like it!

Beautiful green-woody scent. Fig leaf and green notes play around all the time. Its not sweet fig but rather a kind of dirty dusty fig.it may not pleasant to some souls but believe me it is quit unique. Interesting green (almost vegetable) opening with resinous and bright ambery undertones. Very unusual scent: smells a bit like nail polish remover but very elegant and chic at the same time. Dries down to powdered green fig leaves. Follow me on IG: scent.guide

An interesting scent that smells to my nose like a mix of Philosykos and Bal D’Afrique. Fruity, green, figgy, leafy but slightly synthetic in tone. I would personally take Philosykos over this, and probably this over Bal D’Afrique.

It’s hot outside, and I’m in a lush green garden and am standing under a big old fig tree. I grab a ripe fig and bite into it’s sweet juicy flesh. I imagine this would be amazing in the heat.

Very sweet patchouli and fig. A lot of fig fragrances have a juicy fig flesh or green leaf vibe. This reminds me of dusty fig skin. A soft, close skin scent.

This is a deliberately green, earthy, and raw take on fig, far removed from the Mediterranean sun-drenched fig scents you might know. It smells like you unearthed an entire fig tree—roots, damp soil, bark, leaves, unripe figs—and ran it all through an industrial grinder. There’s a dark fig accord at the heart, but it’s surrounded by green bitterness, earthy patchouli, and a mushroomy, almost fermented edge that gives the composition an untamed, organic feel. The sandalwood softens the base just enough to keep it wearable, but this is still very much a niche scent—bold, wild, and unapologetically vegetal. It’s definitely not for everyone, but for those who enjoy green, earthy, and unconventional compositions, it offers a refreshingly natural and artistic take on fig. Unique and interesting, harmonicly contradictory scent that piques your interest. Opening is really musty-dusty-paint or solvent like combo with coconut. You enter freshly painted room with windows opened. Outside in yard is an old fig tree with ripe figs that start to fall down. Someone puts out of owen just baked poppy seed cake with cheese filling. As a whole its medium provocative, ends in citruses and sandal wood. During second test on non accidly sweating body it evolved after hour in dusty vintage brown leather - totally different. Needs to be tested, not a safe blind buy!

Green, green and even more green! This fragrance is a real slap to the face on the initial spray as the green facets take over but it quickly settles and fig shines through. I find this very rough and masculine and could easily see this as someone's signature scent! Just too bad about the performance :/

Green citrus and a gnarly fig note. This is not fig done right. Comes together as...eau de makeup 💄. Smells like the cosmetics isle at your local Macys. Smells like a Sephora.

Fragrance dedicated to a Hindu legend that speaks of a fig tree, also called the tree of knowledge. The citrus-herbal-fruity entrance feels uncontrolled, too acidic, by the citrus incisors or the rough notes of grass or by a mixture of both (I think the perfumer passed). The fruity note is nice, sweet, mellow, but figs ?? I do not smell figs on any side, but I smell them on strawberries with banana. As it evolves, the fruit-wood agreement is installed in which the incisive super acidic note is lowered, the "fig" is softened and the sandalwood note is increased with fig tree wood, here another error because the fig tree wood feels too camphorated, Earthy and dry, even to something moldy, looking rather papyrus or eucalyptus with sandalwood and a touch of musk. I dont know!! I do not like what I smell. Balance error at the entrance, the fig does not look like fig and mistake in not hitting with the fig wood in the drying, much camphor by means it also discontrol the drying ..... There are too many mistakes, and although the mixture is perfect, it lasts well and projects well, it's a suspense on my part, because I can not find that legend tree anywhere. Rating: 3

First opening, I thought I would love this scent. It was fresh and green and reminded me of when, as a child, I used to lay out on grass that was still slightly damp with the morning dew. There was just the slightest hint of a sort of mild musty earthiness underlaying it. Just the right counterpoint to that heady opening greenness. Unfortunately, as time progressed, that mustiness grew. Two hours into L'Arbre de la Connaissance and my wrist had turned into what I can only describe as a dust bunny. Smells like when I sweep cat-hair and debris from under the bed after a couple of weeks of being lazy on my housekeeping. I mean... how do you get essence of dust so perfectly? Every time I smelled my wrist, the odd question popped into my head "why am I not sneezing?" It's too bad. I loved the opening but don't want to end up smelling like a giant, human dust bunny.

"The Tree of Knowledge" I don't know what it is with Jovoy Paris and their choice of fragrance names, but I think they are awesome! Wrapped in legendary imagery, the Tree of Knowledge as this scent's name translates to, transforms the wearer to the Garden of Eden with its notes of Fig and Fig Leaves. The 'milk' found in freshly-cut figs is what oozes right from the first spritz of this heavy-duty bottle, meaning the wearer has that effect of walking in a sun-drenched Mediterranean (perhaps) forest, full of fig trees a brief moment after a heavy rain shower. There are many fig scents out there. Some are blended with (white) musk, others with citrus, but Jovoy's offering has a unique creamy sandalwood base which is both long lasting and projects quite strongly for several hours. Delicious!

The opening is such a foul, green scent that my husband went “ewww”. That’s the strongest negative statement he’s ever uttered about a fragrance. I associate part of this green opening with that of some stinky white florals that have such green facets. Thankfully, this odor disappears quickly. It turns to what I honestly thought was some sort of light orris scent. It smelled familiar but I could not place it. Only when reading the notes did I realize it really does smell like those sandalwood and fig scents. In a world of these types of fragrances, I’m not sure why you would choose this one with its awful opening and poor longevity. This could be just okay but with the offputting introduction, I have to knock it down to a dislike.

I tried side by side samples of this one and the Diptique Philiosykos and its weird that the Jovoy has a great bright fig opening and the Diptique opening is a little screechy with the fig leaf grassy/wood smell. The dry-down for Diptique is nothing but light creamy heavenly fig. Feels like a great spring/summer scent. The dry down for the Jovoy does a complete 360. All I smell is bug spray, straight up. That fig is gone and all I want to do is wash it off. I'd love a full bottle of Diptique Philiosykos to get my fig smell on. Pass on the Jovoy, so sad.

For the first hour on my skin, all I can smell is patchouli and sandalwood, with a sickly, sharp sweetness. The fig doesn't emerge until well after the scent has given me a headache, which is a shame because the fig note itself is really quite lovely. I keep coming back to this, to see if I can force myself to like it. But unfortunately, my chemistry and this scent do not mix, and it's headache city. And what a shame! If it was entirely that fig, I'd wear it every day.

تجربة عطرية سيئة العطر كان ليكون أفضل ولو كانت نوتة أوراق التين في الإفتتاح وليس في القاعدة ،، و لو كانت نوتة ثمرة التين أوضح أو تم وضعها في قاعدة العطر مع إضافة المسك في القاعدة كانت النتيجة مختلفة تماما..... العطر يشبه دخولك إلى حديقة (بسبب النوتة الخضراء بالبداية) ثم جلوسك أسفل شجرة تين ( بسبب نوتة ورق التين ) لكن لا تشم رائحة التين ولا تشعر بإنتعاش التين الخلاصة العطر ممتاز ليذكرك برائحة شجرة أو حقل التين لكن لا يصلح كرائحة عطرية جميلة

I purchased a sample online and from first application I've wanted to scrub it off. It smells like solvent or pesticide. I waited greater than an hour and finally scrubbed it. It did not change, it did not get better. I could never distinguish fig or citrus, which is why I purchased it. I love figs and have several varieties growing in my yard - I know how they smell. This smells awful.

This smells good if you want to smell like a Bath and Body Works candle. I would snatch this right up in the store for a great summer scent. But since I do NOT want to smell like a candle this is a pass for me. Extremely deep green scent. Almost like someone mixed up some fig with a bunch of wet clean grass.

Fresh, leafy openings release latex sap typical of the Moraceae family. The latex then mixes with ginseng, producing a bitter smell that reminds me of allergenic plants.

In late 90th early 00th Avon had a skin care line which smelled exactly like this, just toned down. Not a safe blind buy!

First sniff - very green. Reminds me of a tea plantation. Legit green leaves.

I keep meaning to review this, but after a few hours pass I forget that I put anything on in the first place (this has short longevity on me). So let me try now that I've just applied... This scent is 'front loaded'. I.e., Initial impressions and enjoyment are within the first half hour. And yes, this is very fig dominant. But I like fig; having bought Roxanna Illuminated's fig scent this is a note I return to. Here it is woody and sharp. Maybe too sharp. I was hoping for more sandalwood to come through. which might have happened if the added hesperides were removed from the top notes. An enjoyable scent, but competition is tough for this genry and longevity and depth keep it out of the top spot.

la presenza del fico in 3d,(frutto albero e foglie di fico)(costruito magnificamente) palpabile, fragrante, gustoso, saporito, dolce e fresco...aggettivi indicati ad un cibo, ed in effetti il fico è un frutto commestibile, mentre l'albero, è da millenni simbolo della conoscenza(ci riporta alla grecia antica)....è una fragranza larga, oserei dire enorme nel lasciare traccia di se...lascia una scia dolce fresca e spumosa...il patchouli ed il sandalo sono da toccata e fuga...bello bello e poi encora bello

I remember the time when I first sniffed Theodoros Kalotinis Alluring Fig, I said this fig scent is too good but the vanilla is too much, I much prefer it's fig scent without the vanilla, and guess what? This fragrance is exactly it. It collected the essence of green fig essence (leaf and fruit) with decent performance for a fig fragrance. If you love fig, this is a must sample. 9/10

so i ordered a shedload of jovoy samples and i got this one thrown in. not a fan of fig scents, truth be told, but this one is one of the least palatable fig scents i've come across. highly metallic, astringent aromachemical smell (one of the aldehydes, c-something, i think) and very little anything else. not a fave -- to be honest, a total scrubber, nope.

A good green fig scent, but I feel like I’ve fallen out of love with fig, it just doesn’t excite me like it used to. I guess that’s a normal part of this hobby. Time to move on... onto a new note. For those who are just discovering fig-based perfumes it's a recommendation, because objectively it’s an excellent fig scent.

Finally a fabulous fig perfume that is not only long lasting but is also somewhat complex. Just get past the opening which can seem initially harsh, and you might very well be on your you to a fragrant "enlightenment."

L’Arbre de la Connaissance Green, fig and creamy woody. Not bad but not so overly catch my attention. Smooth tho, easy to wear than Diptyque one. (Not a first piority)

I have a 50 ml 95% full bottle of L'Arbre de la Connaissance if anyone wants to trade for another fragrance. Beautiful scent, but just doesn't work on me :-)

First time encounter of fresh Fig. Another natural Jovoy special greens amalgame teleport straight to childhood holidays, sheer rare garden, amazing hitter.

I just tried my sample, and it's 95% same scent as Dyptique Philosykos, but a little more feminine, and better performance, brighter in a way.
