Marine

I found this to be to my liking. Although it is not as complex as say Wet Stone or Le Joker, the way it smelled fresh without getting too floral made it worth the $60. It lasted on me around 10 hours and the dry down was quite pleasant. Being aquatic without being animalistic or too musky was a highlight to this creation. I just tried ADG recently and actually prefer this for longevity and I liked the freshness aspect more also.

I would have known it smells like an ocean, even without big letters MARINE on the sample, typical aquatic indeed, probably, will remind to the male population lots of other same category frags they have tried already. I actually like this one, it has very easy-going changes of phases, relaxed, confident feel, non sweet, woody, but not screechy, fresh, but not too ozonic, maybe rather stormy, attractive. That's about it.

Salty fresh scent with calm aromatic and spicy notes, it is not too watery, well balanced and reserved. I think it can wear both a man and a woman.

This perfume smelled pretty horrible - one unpleasant metallic note, nothing else. It can be skin chemistry.

Jovoy Paris Marine is actually what you'd expect to smell, a masculine aquatic. It shares some similarities with other mainstream aquatics, namely L'eau d'Issey Pour Homme and Bvlgari Aqva Pour Homme. It has that distinctive salty, ocean water vibe, with a dominant pepper accord and some sour grapefruit. Marine is a great scent for Summer, and is not surprisingly suitable for trips to the beach or to the pool. Like most aquatics, Marine is fresh and energising. It's the kind of fragrance you'd reach for on a hot Summer's day when light and crisp scents are preferable. I probably wouldn't wear this scent during the cooler months. For a niche fragrance I admit that Jovoy Paris could have made Marine a little more edgy. It is fairly predictable, and for the price its simplicity is a bit of a turn off. It's not a fragrance that I would want to layer either. You have to accept Marine for what it's worth. In my opinion, it's a quality woody aquatic with a nice balance of cedar, pepper and citrus. Do try before you buy.

All of the *Les 7 Parfums Capitaux* are meant to be sort of textbook representations of popular perfumes' themes. None of them is exactly bad but, at the same time, I can't say any of them is particularly outstanding in their respective genres either. Marine makes no exception. Given the notes involved, I honestly expected something completely dreadful but, instead, this is a pretty decent woody masculine with *aquatic* nuances. Definitely not my jam but, at least, not as offensive as this genre can get. Rating: 5.5-6/10
